Reviews for Apple Inn Hotel

Review 1:insufficient and unclear Airport Shuttle details on Booking.com description

Review 2:staff was excellent however i regret to give this hotel a low score review but i have to... it is due to the fact that your insufficient description of your airport shuttle bus that didn't state it was a paid service and had to be booked in advance. Was a hassle for me, i would suggest you state that in your description.

Review 3:We ordered a doble bed, we got two single beds together. It was not comfortable at all with gab between the beds.

Review 4:The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood and staff was really friendly.

Review 5:Nothing and I am a very critical difficult traveller.

Review 6:The staff are amazing. I have never met more friendly and helpful people. There are limited food facilities here however, the staff will go out of their way to provide anything you need when bringing food into the hotel. Any issues we had were resolved instantly. Tram stop 1 minute walk from the hotel that takes you right through the centre of the city. Cycle hire shop 2 minutes walk (recommended) 10 minute walk to the beautiful Vondelpark that has everything you need for kids, dogs or just yourselves.

Review 7:Location was good but not easy to get back to at early hrs of the morning as the tram stops around 12am, taxi back from red light to the hotel was 60 euro.

Review 8:Excellent hotel and very friendly/informative staff, rooms are good size and very clean, shower was excellent, I would defo recommend staying at this hotel.

Review 9:The wi-fi was not great. Difficult to keep a connection at times. The breakfast was ok, but for the price I think could have been better.

Review 10:Nice and quiet, very clean with helpful staff.

Review 11:I would suggest to have 1 queen sized bed instead of having two single beds. Having two single beds are not good for couples.

Review 12:The room is clean and comfortable. Nice and friendly staffs.

Review 13:Every time you come and go from the hotel, you turn in your room key. One time, I was given a key to someone else's room by accident, which is a little troubling. Also, if you have issues with stairs, I would recommend requesting a room on the first floor. My husband fell down one of them, and we are only 27! Also parts of the hotel can use some updating as you can tell it's old and worn, but the room itself is great.

Review 14:The bed portion of the room is quite spacious and I liked the storage space that was provided (shelves, hooks, mirror, closet space). It was very open and made it easy for me to lay out my belongings. Also, wifi worked well for us. While in the bathroom, I hit my arm on the shower door a few times while using the sink. My husband found the shower to be a little small (he's 6'1"), I was okay with it. My main concern is cleanliness when I book rooms, and this hotel met my standards (I'm very picky and don't like finding hair).

Review 15:There were some problems with wifi, sometimes the connection doesn't work. But not a big problem :)

Review 16:Love the location. The room was as I expected and the staff very kind. Great experience!

Review 17:Our only issue was the lack of a kettle in the room as we had our 7 month old with us and found it very difficult to make bottles for her.

Review 18:Stayed in a family room which had plenty of space and we especially liked the shower which easily accommodated two adults.

Review 19:Great hotel in a fab location for someone that wanted to be walking distance to a busy area but not kept up all night! Lovely staff and a really nice room - would stay there again on my next visit!

Review 20:There was nothing that I didn't like!

Review 21:Staff was very helpful, friendly and nice. Great breakfast for so little money! Great location and very beautiful and comfortable rooms!

Review 22:The staff were very friendly and accomodating. When we checked in complimentary drinks were served to us which we thought was a nice touch! Good breakfasts with plenty of choice.

Review 23:People talking in d stairs close to our room later that 11 pm. Little bit disturbing! We could hear them very clearly!!

Review 24:Neighborhood. Nice place to stay for tourist pourposes.

Review 25:Room got a little stuffy and we couldn't get the air conditioner to work.

Review 26:Hotel was easy to find in a nice area with nice restaurants close by. Comfortable room which is what we needed after a long vacation.

Review 27:Nice quiet neighbourhood, tram stop close by & no 2 tram was every few minutes into city centre, lovely cafés & shops nearby would definitely use this hotel again.

Review 28:If you have big luggage, you will be in trouble to use the "creepy" stairs. Cleanliness in general was good, but room floor was a little sticky. Breakfast served at 8h and in the weekend at 8:30h. I planned to leave the hotel at 8h, so no breakfast before this time.

Review 29:Very kind staff, near tram 2 ( less than 3 minutes), near Vondelpark (5 minutes), near Rijksmuseum, near Van Gogh museum (around 15 min by walk)

Review 30:Nothing special. Perhaps location is a bit far from centre, but on the other hand it is quiet and pleasant.

Review 31:staff very pleasant and helpful, nice rooms, hotel is in a nice traditional-style building and quiet area, breakfast is good and varied.

Review 32:A lot

Review 33:Average at best. Rooms were very small and wasn't the cleanest as had cracks in wall, chipped paint and a weird smell. Staff were brilliant a but the hotel wasn't what I was expecting. Wouldn't stay again.

Review 34:Unfortunately, the room was very warm and opening the window meant hearing the traffic late night and early morning. I did make use of the fan that was provided and it made a big difference. The doors in the hotel tend to bang loudly and my neighbours spoke quite loudly to one another, so found this disruptive during my stay.

Review 35:When I found the hotel after initially getting lost from the bus stop, I was made to feel very welcome. Once I got my bearings, I realised I was in an excellent location for accessing the main museums and supermarket, before going further into the centre of Amsterdam by tram.

Review 36:Few things happened: • I got rooms that are not close to each other and it was very hard with 4 children ( 2 babies) • This hotel do not have elevator we had to carry all heavy luggage by our self to 2nd floor. • We had linkage of water ! in the room came from the window and we show it to the woman ( same woman that make check in) • It seems only 1 person handle all the hotel at night!! Same person check in , same person handle problems in the room. • She put towel on the place with the water ( seems that it came from the window all across the room) and as far as she say that is what she can do for now( 20:00). • We got front room facing the street and it was noisy and hard to sleep ( room number 21)

Review 37:close to center

Review 38:Our bathroom smelled a bit, you hear the planes from the airport over the house early in the morning.

Review 39:20min from the central station, easy to reach the city by foot or by tram, beautiful neighbourhood, really quiet for Amsterdam (despite the planes). Room size is small but compared to other hotels in Amsterdam it is really ok. We had a twin room and the beds were really comfy. We would come again!

Review 40:Staff at checkout did not say anything. Would have liked to be able to make coffee in the room.

Review 41:Friendly and helpfull staff at check-in. Nice atmosphere in the hotel. Basic hotel but everything you need.

Review 42:the stairs are horrible And the room is small Le scale sono terribili ela stanza piccola

Review 43:Very nice staff , hotel is clean , good position Lo staff veramente gentile , albergo pulito ,

Review 44:Prices per night varied too much, sometimes one night was double the price of a previous days price.

Review 45:Secure, on tram route into town, small but very friendly hotel and staff. Ideal for us visiting family.

Review 46:Couldn't connect to wifi with my Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Review 47:The windows to the street actually opened, and it was nice to let in fresh air and sit at the window.

Review 48:Wifi was not great..but can't knock the hotel experience just for that really.

Review 49:I liked the seclusion but with great access to the city, and the staff were amazingly friendly.

Review 50:I booked a single, and it was pretty terrible. Tiny single bed was of dubious quality, and gave the worst nights sleep. The room was on a busy street and was quite loud. The room itself was miniscule. It was incredibly hot in the room, no a/c. There is no elevator and the multiple sets of stairs are steep and dangerous.

Review 51:The downstairs area is nice.

Review 52:It's a nice hotel, but if you are going in the summer, consider staying in another place, because the rooms are too hot. No elevator, but they help with the luggage.

Review 53:Stairs, but you can't blame the hotel. Pretty much all old buildings are like this. Not suitable for elderly people. Locations isn't great if you want to walk downtown and come back to rest in the middle of the day. But if you're using public transportation, the tram stop is 2min away.

Review 54:Excellent bed, seriously! The hotel is very modern, the bedrooms are new, shower is great. Neighborhood is beautiful, I spent some time surrounding the area, just admiring it. Tram stop very near.

Review 55:The pillows could be improved and there is no fridge. Note that there is no elevator.

Review 56:Great location and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and very clean. They are on the smaller side, but there is enough space - perfect if you are out all day, but not big enough to hangout. Complimentary bathroom products.

Review 57:Not a problem for us but lack of lift and steep stairs could be a problem for elderly or infirm guests. Also no air conditioning in room, not normally a problem but 35 degrees C when we visited

Review 58:Excellent location, small friendly hotel.

Review 59:I think a misunderstanding happened. One of the days of our stay, our room did not be cleaned. I guess we should have requested or something like that.

Review 60:Location, breakfast, personnel, rooms. Everything :)

Review 61:Noisy at night due to our room overlooking the street.

Review 62:The staff were very helpful and nice. Breakfast was great for our purpose and inexpensive. Location was excellent.

Review 63:We were on the top floor which had to be reached by walking up very, very steep stairs. We were ok but it would not have been ok for Children and old people especially when you have to carry your luggage!

Review 64:Fantastic hotel for couples, groups or a family! The rooms are really clean and comfortable. There is a tram stop 2mins away that takes you straight to the centre. The breakfast was good, the staff were excellent! Really friendly. I will stay here again if I go back. Great value for groups as the rooms had 4 beds!

Review 65:Wifi was rubbish I even tried to get it to work in reception and it kept dropping out- they had a technician in the previous week, he obviously needs to return! Hard to book next place etc if you rely on wifi.

Review 66:Friendly staff and easy access to number 2 tram. We had little terrace and were able to take glass of wine from bar to our terrace. Room small but nice for us as a couple

Review 67:They staff was so friendly. It was our birthday and they surprised us with bottle of wine and some special offers in the hotel. As a frequent traveler I think you could not find any other accommodation better than Apple Inn in Amsterdam (even 5 Star ones!)

Review 68:Steep staircases and no elevator make it difficult for more senior people or those with lots of/heavy baggage to access rooms above the ground floor.

Review 69:We were there in mid June and it was quite hot at night, no AC and no fan made for a miserable night's sleep. Also, be prepared to haul heavy luggage up the steepest of stairs.

Review 70:I had to leave a day early and the Hotel worked with Booking.com to refund my last night I'd already paid for, I was very appreciative of this. Good location close to a tram stop.

Review 71:Very uncomfortable beds. Breakfast is limited to bread, egs, cheese, ham, water, coffee and tea. Not worth 9,50 EUR which you have to pay additionally. There is no air condition in the hotel. No fridge in the room. Hotel is not worth the price.

Review 72:Location. Public transport is very easy to use and hotel is close to tram/bus stops. Great and very helpful staff in the hotel.

Review 73:The narrow stairs. I guess you cannot help it in old charming buildings in Amsterdam.

Review 74:Great location. Very friendly staff. Charming ambiance. Very comfortable and clean room. Only superlatives come to mind!

Review 75:The room was more than simple: it had too few things to be comfortable. The wardrobe didn't have shelves or enough hangers, we couldn't place our clothes in it. The bathroom was so small that I kept hitting myself when using it, and i'm not a big person. The wi-fi didn't work properly, it kept disconnecting. And they asked us to pay the whole amount when we arrived, before checking in (this has never happened to us in another hotel). To enter the hotel you had to ring a doorbell (the door was always locked) and sometimes it took minutes for somebody to answer. In the second half of the breakfast period you could hardly find anything to eat... On our second day there, nobody came to clean the room or pick-up the garbage till 4 p.m. when we were already back in the room. Disappointing experience.

Review 76:I appreciated the location, it was indeed close enough to the city center.

Review 77:WiFi signal could be better.

Review 78:24hr reception is great, really good service to be able to get a drink in early hours of the morning. Easy to get to the tram stations, given the hotel sits between 2 tram stops. leidspein, Dam square and central station are only a short tram ride away :)

Review 79:Bad noise isolation. You can hear other guests from the hall and from the rooms. Stairs very steep. No elevator.

Review 80:Location near tram station Low priced breakfast Rooms very clean Free WiFi Staff very helpful

Review 81:The pillows were polyester and overstuffed, incredibly uncomfortable. The room didn't have any tea of coffee making facilities

Review 82:The location in a nice residential area with some great places to eat close by. The breakfast and staff were lovely.

Review 83:no kettle in room to make tea/coffee

Review 84:The staff were very friendly. The room was beautiful and spacious with a little garden outside for the kids to play in

Review 85:A few of the other guests were very noisy late at night, in the corridor, with no thought for other guests. We would have liked some shelves or drawers for clothing as well as hangers.

Review 86:The location is great, close to the park with a few good restaurants nearby. It's an easy tram journey to the station or centre, or an interesting walk through different areas. We found the staff very helpful and friendly, and liked the secure entrance and small garden and breakfast area.

Review 87:The staff at The Apple Inn were welcoming, friendly and efficient. There was a great choice of food at breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. The stairs are steep to the rooms, but nothing more than we expected. The only minor negative point I could make was that room 28 was a bit dark due to the bed head covering half of the window and so blocked the light. Since we used the hotel as a base and spent most of our time exploring the sights and sound of the city this was not an issue. I would have no hesitation in staying at The Apple Inn again, I wished we could have stayed longer.

Review 88:Steep stairs, no elevator, slow internet, one hour walk from the city centre.

Review 89:Clean, nice, safe, tram stop right in front. The hotel is located close to the Vondel park which is very good. The room is big compare to other hotels in Amsterdam, with a big window and a view on trees in the yard.

Review 90:The TV did not work (we asked the office but didn't get great guidance) and the stairs up to the rooms are steep.

Review 91:I really felt like I was staying in a very nice hotel but on a budget price!

Review 92:There is no lift and the stairs are steep to the second floor. But the hotel offered a free drink at their bar for the climb!

Review 93:The tram stop was just a block away, making it simple to access the city from our doorstep. The staff was extra helpful and courteous, which made the stay very comfortable.

Review 94:Just a bit noisy not that was a huge issue but just to be aware, possibly not great for young families. We had a 6 year old and a 10 year old and they were exhausted anyway and didn't hear a thing. But I did. the rooms that fit only 3 can fit a little one in the queen bed (under 6 years possibly). No parking long term (head to Olympish Park and Ride best option).

Review 95:Great for a couple as it's central, the staff are fantastic and really helpful. Lovely vibe about the place.

Review 96:Excellent location for those who like to get to know the city by walking. Also very good connection with Amsterdam Centraal Rail Station (tram 2 is best solution) Very close to Vondel Park, and other attractions, the Van Gogh Museum, City Centre, Heineken Brewery, etc ... and all that 10 minutes walk or you can rent a bike at the hotel, which is much more awesome ! The staff at the hotel is really great, clean room every day, has a great garden in the backyard, and you can ask for the picnic bag to arrange your trip by yourself. All the best!

Review 97:The only down fall of this hotel is that it is a little out the way. If you like staying right in the centre then it's not for you however it's a lovely 10 minute stroll through vondel park to the nearest coffee shops. It's a further 40 minute walk up through dam square to central station. There is a great tram network amd a stop right outside the hotel so if you don't mind getting on the tram everyday then you'd be fine. I would stay here again.

Review 98:This hotel is great value for money. Friendly staff, lovely interia. Good size clean room with a TV, powerful shower and free wifi. We also had a balcony which was very nice. We didn't have breakfast but it was a continental style as expected.

Review 99:When we booked the hotel it stated that there was an airport shuttle, but when we went to book it this was not included, and was about €17 per person. The staff were helpful recommending various transport options, but I thought this was a bit misleading. The shower doors were a bit wonky and difficult to open and close and the bathroom had a drain smell but as soon as you were in the shower or running the water, it went away, so didn't bother to mention it.

Review 100:The staff were great and very helpful. The breakfast was very nice and the rooms comfortable. The wifi was good and the beds very comfortable. Nice quiet street for a good nights sleep!

Review 101:Great location of you travel by car as you can park at Olimpic stadium for 8 euros per day. There were 5 of U.S. staying in a 5 bed room, very spacious and clean, very happy overall

Review 102:Room very clean and spacious especially for 5 people, very clean and modern, beds were very comfortable, staff friendly cannot say anything bad about this hotel located 2 min walk from tram stop so very acessiable would stay here again

Review 103:I was upset that we were not warned about the building work/renovation, however the staff were accomodating and helped us move rooms to be further away from the early morning drilling

Review 104:All rooms are double but they promise you a twin, the walls are paperthin and you can hear everything. The staff are nice but lackprofessional training. Last not least we both got bedbugs, which sadlycould only be from this place as we moved hotel and they gradually butquickly disappeared

Review 105:The location was good for museums and breakfast was excellent

Review 106:Very courteous staff, especially the Young Italian chap who did the morning shift. Rooms are nice and clean. Decent breakfast. Location may seem out of town but is only 15 mins away via tram. Overall, good connectivity and is a safe area.

Review 107:Staff at reception were very kind. Always willing to help. The hotel is locted in a residential area so it's very quiet and easy to get to. Transport links are perfect. Also all main points of tourism are easily reached walking. Strongly recommend it to anyone travelling alone, with friends or couples :)

Review 108:Absolutely nothing.

Review 109:Really enjoyed interior of this hotel, room (3 single beds) was pretty spacious. Room looked very fresh and well kept. I had balcony which is always plus. Hotel is located in residential quiet area right next to park. Staff was super friendly and welcome drink was really kind touch from hotel side.

Review 110:I like very much the helpful and very friendly staff, the quite room (it was at ground floor and was perfect because there's no elevator and we had children and stroller). Besides, the hotel is in a quiet residential zone (we feel ourselves safe even in the evening) and near to the tram stop (line 2) to Central Station. Definitely highly recommended

Review 111:The location is very close to the Museumplatz, but this is not the place you'll go every day. The main touristic attractions are a little bit far, it takes about 15-20 minutes by tram to get there. However, as a person who prefers staying in the residential areas (I believe you can experience the city in a more vivid and realistic way by doing so), that wasn't a problem for me.

Review 112:This is a very cute hotel very close to the Vondelpark, surrounded by gorgeous nature and architecture. The hotel is set in an old building, and since it's located in a residential area, you can easily feel like a local while staying there. It was a great experience overall.

Review 113:The steep climb to my third-floor room was a chore, especially with luggage. Wi-fi access was sometimes sticky.

Review 114:A clean, quiet, well-laid-out 3-star hotel, great value for money. It was convenient to the tram, a reasonable walk to the major art museums, and near several fine eating places. The delightful staff was consistently helpful.

Review 115:The stairways were small and steep, but it's amsterdam what do you expect? It was well worth everything. Plus it adds to the beauty of the house.

Review 116:Usually when we find a cheap hotel in a major city it is run down and poorly maintained, but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very accommodating with our 4 month old baby. The rooms were updated with excellent maid services. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 117:Very steep steers - do not advise taking a large suitcase, take smaller bags instead. No apple pie at breakfast as advertised! Wanted to buy some water for our room and only option was a tiny bottle for 2.50 euros - would be good to sell larger bottles at a more economical rate.

Review 118:Welcoming, friendly staff. Nice room with a nice view over gardens at the back. Bar and breakfast area were welcoming and well laid out. Room was clean with very comfy beds. Apart from other guests being noisy on arriving back late / leaving early it was lovely and quiet. Good selection of TV channels. Great location for exploring Amsterdam. Tram stops were a bit confusing as there was engineering work - a map of these might be helpful.

Review 119:The room has a noticeable slope which keeps you rolling to the other side of the bed at night. The queen bed is actually two separate mattresses, each one in a different height [probably due the mentioned slope]. The bed is surrounded by VERY annoying wooden frame that you keep bumping at. The pillows were too big and hard to sleep on, when asking for a different [regular] type of pillow in the reception, the clerk's answer was "Sorry, I can't help you". The heating didn't work until the 2nd night although we asked and mentioned the problem to the reception a few times. The "leg breaking" stairs were hard to deal with, be aware if you carry heavy luggage [no elevator in the hotel].

Review 120:The Location is near a tram station, the check-in process was pleasant, the room was clean and spacious. The shower is big and comfortable.

Review 121:Stairs were steep however this is normal in amsterdam Fourth bed was a futon Not great sound proofing from upstairs

Review 122:Quad room available Good price Clean Friendly helpful staff Style of the hotel Location near VondelPark Easy to find Breakfast was plentiful, varied and tasty We didnt get any noise from trams right outside our window Quiet area

Review 123:Booked double room but had two singles pushed together. Hotel tried to rectify by adding a thin double mattress which was smaller than the two singles. But. Single beds were different heights so slept on a slope.

Review 124:Quiet location, easy access to trams and city and museums by foot. Nice bar area.

Review 125:Nothing!

Review 126:If you look at the family room pictures, they look ok, but the actual apartment is actually different. It's much better, very comfortable. And not to mention the location, 300m from the Central Station and the Dom.

Review 127:There isn't anything not to like however most hotels provide you with a kettle / tea making facilities, they would have been a nice addition

Review 128:The staff were always helpful and cheery The hotel was very clean throughout Great location near the Vondelpark Very close to a tram stop that takes you to Central Dam should you not wish to walk and take in the sights

Review 129:Not very good ventilation in the room, even with the large door open. The room stayed hot at night, even with the large back door door open, which let mosquitoes in. It would be quite hot and stuffy in the summer (we were there in September). Wi-fi performance was spotty - fine when it worked. Quality of breakfast was "medium".

Review 130:Wonderful location near museums, downtown, Vondel park, shops, ground transportation, restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff! Nice little garden at the back of the hotel for having lunch. This place is super-convenient and in a nice, safe neighbourhood. The room was quiet and had a little balcony which was a life-saver, considering the size of the room. Everything in the bathroom worked well.

Review 131:Lack of a lift, steep narrow stairways, and noisy tenants late at night.

Review 132:Excellent staff! Great location for visiting Vondelopark, restaurants, and transportation into central Amsterdam.

Review 133:The rooms are not well soundproofed. I was not affected as the rooms beside had business travellers and were a quiet bunch.

Review 134:The staff, the location and the breakfast was good.

Review 135:Very noisy. Our room was in the first floor and it was very noisy during the night. Ceiling was like made from paper. You could normally hear footsteps and running around from the room above. We also had only locked door between the neighbor room, so we could hear everything from there too. In the bathroom more shelves would be nice.

Review 136:A tram station to the city centre is only 150 m away. Room was very clean and always tidy when we returned. Staff is very polite and willing to help and advice.

The Fine Print

Please note that the hotel has no elevator and that you may need to climb steep stairs to reach your room.
