Reviews for ASURE 83 By The Sea Motor Lodge
Review 1:Several things made us wonder how this motel got a 4 star rating: 1. This is a truck stop on a main road so very noisy with trucks leaving early to begin their journey north. 2. Upstairs unit with no lift so struggled with luggage. 3. Stairs had no compliant handrail. 4. Kitchenette was so small that it was hard to prepare a meal. In fairness it did say "Kitchenette" but I expected a little more space. 5. No air conditioning. As it transpired we didn't need it as the Wellington weather was cool but it could have been very hot in December. 6. No extraction fan in bathroom. 7. Bathroom very small for two folk no shelves, hardly anywhere to put toiletries for two. 8. Shower (very narrow) did not have a door, only a shower curtain - hardly 4 star. 9. Microscopic soap at handbasin and no other toiletries except a make-up remover. Shower had soap which duplicated as shampoo. 10. Towels were old and thin - not 4 star. Only 3 towels supplied (for 3 beds) so had there been 3 of us there would have been no spare to wash hair. 11. View from some units would be nice but we sacrificed that for the extra bed.which was our choice. 12. We felt that $157NZ per night was expensive for what we got, although we appreciate that booking through an agency did cost us more than ringing the motel direct. 13. Next time we will check out other motels in Lower Hutt which may be more spacious and better value for money.
Review 2:On arrival asked for two beds and this request was complied with amicably. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were clean and crisp. Motel has easy access to Eastbourne.
Review 3:Didn't sleep a wink, the above room was noisy. Get a upstairs unit if you choose to stay here. We had 2 rooms with 2 parks went out cane back to no parks!!!
Review 4:Close to shops, train station & food outlets
Review 5:Awesome friendly staff. They weren't the owners but very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Already planning another trip and stay with these people. Location very handy to shops and public transport.
Review 6:Beautiful clean fresh smelling linen Changed every day not like others that get away without changing daily. Fresh supplies each day Not like others where you have ask each day.
Review 7:Not a bad experience, but would like to see the bathroom brought into the heating system of the room.
Review 8:The friendliness of the staff and the comfort of the room.
Review 9:To men staying at end unit chose to at early hours in morning 3am to be out on verander banging around, talking very loudly on phone and general conversation very still night, woke us with fright there isno respect for others anymore.
Review 10:Locallity, staff, unit
Review 11:Some noise from passing traffic overnight made worse by the wet road at the front of the motel, but not too severe. Main issue was that we choose the location based on needing to get to the Interislander ferry terminal early the following morning as the description it was described as a 15 minute drive. This was correct but not in the rush hour, it took us a little over 30 minutes. Also access to the return lane towards Wellington from the motel car park is not easy, but the sat nav helped.
Review 12:Very convenient location with great views over the Wellington bay area, and easy access. Temporary hosts very welcoming.
Review 13:Rooms were quite small. OK for one but two would have been interesting, but still value for money
Review 14:Handy location to Petone / Seaview Industrial area as well as Jackson Street for dining options.
Review 15:For a leisure trip, room was far too small and very stuffy. Shower was also small. There was no couch in room. More appropriate for a business trip. Thought it was very overpriced.
Review 16:The location wa great, close to everything.
Review 17:Parking a bit cramped for our rooms. Room was a bit warm what with the afternoon sun and no aircon.
Review 18:Location suited us perfectly, what with our son living a short walk away.
Review 19:The helpful way that Elaine and Len went above and beyond the call of duty to help us with directions to drop off a car. Lovely people, homely atmosphere. Quite easy to get to and close to restaurants of all types at Petone.
Review 20:Good location for the Interislander Ferry terminal and a good view of the bay if you have time to enjoy it. We really only slept at the motel and left early the next morning to catch the ferry so did not avail ourselves of all the facilities but our room was clean and comfortable.
Review 21:the main road in front of this motel noisy if windows are open.
Review 22:close proximity to Petone railway station allowing easy 12 minute ride into Wellington. Good cafes in short walking distance. Supermarket and shops 5 minute walk away. Located right on sea front.
Review 23:In booking.com it asked what bed configuration I would like and I wrote Queen & a single as I was travelling with my mother. When I got there the room only had one queen bed and they were fully booked, so had no choice. No offer of discount or solution provided. So paid but had a very restless sleep.
Review 24:Our room was on the first floor overlooking a busy main road so the noise was constant also the room faced west so that the afternoon sun heated the room to a very uncomfortable level. No aircon so what were we to do? We opened the window and went out for a long walk. This helped a little but during the night the heat was almost unbearable as we could not sleep with the window open due to the traffic noise. would we go back ---- NO
Review 25:The breakfast --- On time and well presented
Review 26:Dirty carpets, terrible wifi and most expensive of all our NZ accom. While updated, bare minimum accessories, no hairdryer, kitchen tiny. Wifi was a huge pain and for the price of the room should have been excellent. In this day and age when we book by internet it should be spot on. It is in a light industrial spot so while the esplanade is ok, there is very little retail around. For the price, Wellington has a lot more to offer, except on late notice when rugby is in town which was our situation. Check current events.
Review 27:Good access to train to city. Great high street two blocks north where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Nice people but not super knowledgeable about the city.
Review 28:The only issue we had was the noise made by a truck parked close by. At 6:00 in the morning starting his truck and running it to get warm.
Review 29:Great location for the ferry and one street away there are plenty of restaurants. Clean modern room.
Review 30:Walls very thin between rooms - could hear snoring on one side.
Review 31:Really liked how guests were treated - nothing was too much trouble. Walking distance to shops and public transport.
Review 32:Walls too thin - could hear doors & water running next door. Could hear footsteps above as if they were stomping, with floorboards creaking. Kitchen countertop could've been bigger. Very noisy in rooms next to the road. No electric blankets. No heater in bedroom.
Review 33:Clean unit, spacious, enough bedding.
Review 34:Walls a bit thin so noise from the other rooms , especially from the room above can get irritating. So get an upstairs room!!
Review 35:Nice staff. Clean. Motel is located opposite Petone beach .The beach is a picturesque, pleasant spot on a day without the classic Wellington Southerly gale. British visitors will think it is a sandy bit of heaven in any weather condition. Not much to do in Petone. Petone Rail Station is close by so leave the car and city parking problems behind and take the train into Wellington. The city is small and easy to walk or bus around.
Review 36:Everything was so easy from booking online to driving to the location from the airport, checking in just after 9pm, parking, checking out. The room was lovely and waking up to see the sea was fabulous. The owners were really helpful answering questions about places to go and providing maps etc.

Review 57:Friendly and helpful owner at reception, Easy access to the unit from the street and easy access to the main shops

Review 86:Climbing the stairs to my unit, with my luggage.
Review 87:It is a comfortable motel with an excellent outlook over the harbour and well placed to the township.
Review 88:Noise busy road and shower open plan and whole bathroom got wet
Review 89:shower, leaked water onto the bathroom floor and there was no fan to vent out the moist air from shower
Review 90:The shower was too small and had a shower curtain that was also too small. The rest of the unit was lovely but the bathroom let it down.
Review 91:nothing
Review 92:all about this place was excellent
Review 93:Excellent place to stay.
Review 94:This is a beautiful area to visit , wished we had stayed longer
Review 95:my view from my room. curtain in shower
Review 96:Reception was very friendly. Thank you for letting us check out earlier and not charging penalies.
Review 97:Up to date décor. Clean fresh linen on beds. Just around corner to the main street.
Review 98:Very clean
Review 99:a hob in the kitchen would be useful. No electric blanket
Review 100:Very quiet.
Review 101:Information booklet in rooms need updating. Not enough kitchen utensils
Review 102:Room comfortable and meet our needs
Review 103:Friendly couple easy to communicate needs with. Lovely stay, warm quiet accomodation
Review 104:Nothing here to dislike.
Review 105:Everything, just quibble about price as you do :) LOL though it is probably relative to where we were as the morning view was gloriously picturesque.
Review 106:Place smelt like stale cigarettes, noisy by the road and heard man in next room snoring all night.. very thin walls and for the price wasnt impressed. Wont stay again and would not recommend. :(
Review 107:Not much to be honest.. receptionist was friendly.
Review 108:The noise factor from visitors in upstairs accommodation, especially when they are walking around. Love everything else and that is why I keep coming back!
Review 109:I love the fact that you are not right in the hub of the busy city (would stay at home if I wanted that). Great for safe running along the foreshore. Easy access to down town Petone and the lovely cafes in Eastbourne. Not to mention The Hutts for easier shopping.
Review 110:Kitchen small not much room to store food for breakfast, snacks or prepare food. On main road so traffic noise a problem. Motel used by working people not many holiday people staying there when we were there.
Review 111:Had Harbour View Studio. Nice size modern room. Bathroom modern. All very clean. Owners friendly & helpful. 5 mins walk to shops & eating places. Can catch train or bus into Wellington takes 12 mins. Good to stay here if you don't want to pay city prices and easier to park and get public transport into the city.
Review 112:Not a lot to see around Lower Hutt. Quite industrial
Review 113:Stayed at Lower Hutt for two nights, as we had a rental car and parking available. City was booked out for the weekend also. Travelled in during the day to check out Wellington.
Review 114:Unfortunately we booked for the weekend that the rugby 7's was on in Wellington. We were next to two groups of noisy young lads, who made lots of noise in the evening. Once they went to sleep we could hear them snoring until 4am. We just got to sleep and then at 5am we were awoken by two large trucks parked outside our window. We ended up leaving a day early.
Review 115:Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable clean room. Plenty of parking.
Review 116:Accomodation very dated, bedding and kitchen towels had a funny smell to them. Pictures of accomodation when booking didn't reflect the accomodation. The accomodation was on a very busy industrial road.
Review 117:Close to restaurants shopping and Wellington city Centre.
