Reviews for Emporium Hotel

Review 1:A little disappointed we were charged for bath salts! I admit I did not see a note that apparently said there would be a charge but when emporium provide their own bottled water free of charge and all the other bathroom supplies it's easy to assume the bath salts are complimentary too. $10 for bath salts seems excessive.

Review 2:The location is excellent. Loved the proximity to James St and of course all the restaurants below emporium. Staff were very friendly and the service was excellent.

Review 3:Nothing!

Review 4:Amazing hotel - the most outstanding part of it is their customer service. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff were so helpful, happy and made us feel very welcome. Hotel is located within a forum type complex with numerous yummy restaurants/casual eateries and convenience type stores such as Chemist Warehouse and BWS. Very quiet location, short walk to China Town. Beds were sooo comfy (like sleeping on a cloud) and they have a pillow menu. Huge bathroom too. Although we didn't try, the room service menu looked great.

Review 5:The sauce that was on the poached eggs for breakfast was made with a bit to much lemon to my liking.

Review 6:Room was very nice and relaxing a good way to spend new years day.

Review 7:Nothing to dislike fantastic weekend stay

Review 8:We realise the cost of staying however what you pay for is what you get We wanted to be spoiled as a couple as this was a wedding anniversary and we were not dissapointed Fabulous king room outstanding clean for our stay lovely bathroom with spa and very quiet We enjoyed the roof top pool and sauna with room service available for lunch snack there was a gym if we required We enjoyed a cocktail pre dinner then walked outside the hotel to the emporium shops complex and a Italian restaurant called Tartufo that was a fantastic dinner great food great service for a special evening The option to book the wonderfull meal to room was also easier for us This was a celebration weekend and we enjoyed the experience of this wonderfull boutique hotel we are going to return

Review 9:The location was perfect as I accessed public transport. Food venues plus the room service menu provided all I needed for my stay. The room was very comfortable and well serviced.

Review 10:It would be great if the hotel had a lounge area - somewhere quiet to park up and read or play cards with a cuppa

Review 11:Friendly staff, up and coming precinct, hotel had great personality- not just a beige box

Review 12:Staff offered to have ice brought to me room while I checked in,but had to re organise.. It was Christmas night so not blaming. The swipe card was difficult to use.

Review 13:Staff were very helpful during the day.

Review 14:Not a big issue but the service in the bar was a little lacking. I had to ask on a couple of occasions for table service even though table service is provided. The bar was busy but no acknowledgment of guests sitting at tables.

Review 15:The staff are excellent and always happy to lend a hand. The Concierge team are knowledgeable and happy to provide assistance without being asked. The reception team very energetic and friendly. Leo and Sarah (DM) were outstanding!

Review 16:There were limited vegan options with Room Service, and the changes we requested to one of the menu items did not eventuate, however the staff were very helpful and accomodating when we notified them of the mistake!

Review 17:Perfect location, awesome staff and an overall great atmosphere. We stayed for our anniversary and were so well looked after by all of the friendly and helpful staff!

Review 18:Bathrooms were badly lit & no place to hang clothes or towels. No magnifying mirror for applying makeup

Review 19:Location was excellent as we were attending our son's wedding in the Fortitude Valley area

Review 20:Nothing to say here, there wasn't anything that i didn't like.

Review 21:Friendly happy welcome from all staff, great room service and also with a smile! The room itself was well designed.

Review 22:Light switching. Never got my newspaper. Parking expensive when a guest and have no options. Pool area a little disorganised.

Review 23:Staff, room comfort, size and design except the light switching. Loved the Cocktail bar.

Review 24:Only the size of the bed

Review 25:The staff on check in & the porters/concierge were absolutely brilliant, so friendly & attentive. Really made us feel welcome & special. We have travelled the world & would easily rate them up there with the best.

Review 26:Spa suite room was small, and not worth the extra solely for a larger bath. Overly expensive additional charges. (Valet only available) parking = $45 per night. Film on TV = $15 per film. Room service was also the most expensive I've ever had.

Review 27:Great location of you have a car and want to be near James street. Roof top pool was incredible at sunset.

Review 28:service in the cocktail lounge never got served so we left and got drinks across the road. other people gain entry to our room.got stuck in lift when card expired after we got extended time from other problems.

Review 29:the way we received help when needed.

Review 30:The service was fantastic from the moment we arrived. The room was large, well furnished and we loved the balcony. The bathroom was also roomy and well appointed.

Review 31:Nothing. Would definitely stay again. next time for longer :-)

Review 32:Great location and everything is on the doorstep - shopping, restaurants, bars Staff very welcoming and helpful. Love the fragrance that they use in their Reception space..they were very happy to tell me what it was and where I could purchase it !

Review 33:The pool area didn't have any clean beds to lay on (there was left over food and empty glasses on all the spare beds) plus wet towels also. There was no balcony or view of anything nice at all :(

Review 34:The bed and pillows were amazing! Clean and tidy, huge bed, funky design (loved the occasional chairs) and there was beautiful flowers in the foyer, they made the whole hotel smell great! Good location!

Review 35:Concierge advised i would receive the morning paper which didnt arrive to my room at any of the 3 night stay. Movies had to be purchased at a ridiculous price. They claim to provide a gym, this is flase as this was just a 2m x 2m room with no weights or gym equipment. There was a riser in the bathroom where waste could constantly be heard from adjoining rooms.

Review 36:Nothing above the norm in a 3 star hotel

Review 37:No desert could be served in room service.

Review 38:Staff service was amazing! From the moment we approached the doors to the time we left everyone made us feel very special and welcome.

Review 39:Need to valet the car as the parking area in the complex has a 2 hour limit. Not the fault of the hotel, just a pain since there are a 100 parks out the front (and you will get towed)!

Review 40:Great location, valet parking and nice downstairs bar. The staff are always terrific and it is only a few steps from Tartufo restaurant (yum), cafes and eateries.

Review 41:The location was perfect and within easy walking distance to Brisbane's most interesting restaurants, bars and coffee shops. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming.

Review 42:Ordered room service and waited 40 mins before having to call again to check what was happening Cannot access different floors - extremely annoying when you are staying for a wedding and need to see other family members

Review 43:Housecleaning did a fantastic job! Bed was extremely comfortable

Review 44:You have to utilise the valet parking.

Review 45:A really nice hotel at the east end of the valley. Paid a little extra for the larger room with the Spa bath and it was a really good investment after a very hard day!

Review 46:Great accommodations--my favorite in Brisbane. The unit is very well designed, bed very comfortable and close to many choices of restaurants within a short walking distance as well as several in-house restaurants in the hotel. We had breakfast at the Parisan pattissiere next door and had a feeling of a true European experience. It was a most pleasurable stay and I would recommend it very highly.

Review 47:Lifts were very hard to operate charges for everything - car parking expensive and even the credit card facility was expensive - All this on top of a premium accommodation charge Wont be back

Review 48:Location

Review 49:There was nothing

Review 50:The staff were excellent. Housekeeping person that did the nightly turn down was so nice, very professional and friendly. nothing was to much trouble.

Review 51:I was hoping to have a quiet drink after dinner at the bar, but it was to loud more like a disco, but the staff directed me to to lovely Whisky Bar in the precinct.

Review 52:Everything was great. The staff were all friendly and on 2 occasions I had to ask for directions and both the team members knew where to direct me. I especially loved the pillows.

Review 53:I wanted to go one flight of stairs through the fire escape but you can't do that. So had to go all the way to the bottom ...

Review 54:Loved the towels, the pool, the lobby bar. The door man was exceptional. So friendly and helpful.

Review 55:I am hugely offended by the growing custom of taking a security deposit when I check in , in case I steal something . I also hugely resent hotels charging % to use a credit card. Small businesses cope without charging the customer, hotels should not pass their normal operating charges on as an extra fee to paying customers.

Review 56:Very friendly staff, good location, funky decor, very comfortable bed, bedside reading lamps that are actually good for reading( a very rare thing in hotels)

Review 57:They had an arrangement with the restaurant next door to back-chargemeals to you room which was nice. Unfortunately the restaurant mealswere just average but very expensive.

Review 58:King Double Room was very nice & staff were really helpful.

Review 59:I love the location, comfort, convenience, trendiness, cocktail lounge and comfortable bed! There are lots of great restaurants in the hotel complex to choose from for dinner if you don't feel like strolling into the Valley for great Chinese food. Wonderful friendly and ultra helpful staff too. I wished I could have stayed longer.

Review 60:TV not up to modern standards (not hd). Reception and channels could be much better.

Review 61:Staff very friendly. Bed and room decor excellent. Bathroom clean well laid out and spa bath great touch.

Review 62:The pillows on the bed were not particularly comfortable however I believe there was a pillow menu

Review 63:The room looked great, so clean and so much nicer than other standard hotel rooms.

Review 64:Nothing to complain about.

Review 65:Very friendly staff. Excellent service. Great location. Love the vibe of the hotel And the bar and bar food Is delicious.

Review 66:Parking is a little brutal at $40/day, but for that you get valet service, water for the road home and a friendly wave.

Review 67:Great staff - we stay quite often when we are down in Brisbane. So if anyone keeps coming back there has got to be lots to like. The bar is worth a visit - very chic.

Review 68:Dont get me wrong This is my fav hotel in brisbane but I'm a little turned off just from our arrival as soon as myself and my partner who we both have stayed at this particular hotel a few times and always felt a little mis judged as well as a powerful vibe of unwelcoming feeling every1 just stares and this has happened everytime we stay my husband felt it straight away when we stayed the first visit my but I'm like give you guys a break and the benefit of the doubt he was worried we get the same treatment when we came back the third time this time I took note we walked as we approached the counter the reception and the door worker both said it within minutes hey guys can I help you and are you guys sure you booked for here I was gobbed smacked so me and my husband will never stay again..

Review 69:The entry smell is to die for as soon we walk in I instantly hit chill out and calm collective mode kicks love it guys and the male workers are wonderful & always ready to make our stay easier..xx

Review 70:There was nothing I didn't like but if I was to make a slight criticism was that a few staff were a little bit 'up' themselves and not as welcoming as the majority

Review 71:I love how this hotel is not like all other hotels it just offers that something different. When you go into your room you know you are in for an experience rather than just another hotel room anywhere else in the world. It is unique

Review 72:Nothing wrong with the property, room was nice but overpriced for what it is.

Review 73:Great service, staff were fantastic. Excellent location. Pillow menu awesome.

Review 74:No free parking. $40 reserved parking or street parking was the options.

Review 75:Loved the location with all the little bars, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance. The rooms are tidy, big and comphy king size bed.

Review 76:Nothing, except the over zealous security guards in the bar. They need to chill, seriously.

Review 77:Everything about the hotel is amazing. Helpful staff, beautiful room with super comfortable bed. Great location, stylish boutique hotel .

Review 78:Only two things and both minor by comparison...the cost of the in-house movies was exorbitant at $15.95 for one movie; and there was no paper at my door the next morning as promised (which is minor). Other than that, it's very hard to get this place wrong.

Review 79:The pillow selection is outstanding. The staff are fantastic.

Review 80:The service, the room, big bed, spa bath, molton brown products were amazing. Everything was fantastic. Have stayed before and would definately stay again.

Review 81:Fantastic service; made always to feel welcome and like a VIP. Stayed there on our wedding night and received champagne upon arrival and on the night when we returned to the room.

Review 82:The one or two things that I could have found to pick on were soon lost when remembering the fantastic feeling we were left with from the staff.

Review 83:The staff were fantastic and nothing was a problem. We only stayed one night but we left feeling like we were valued guests.

Review 84:The hotel is an excellent standard as are the staff, we were warmly greeted and we'll treated at all levels of the hotel and would highly recommend to any friends in the future

Review 85:I arrived from London at 7am and realised I hadn't booked the first night's accommodation. The staff at Emporium were brilliant - they found me a room to lay my weary head immediately. When jet lag woke me in the wee hours, they brought me a scrumptious snack. I already knew from others that this is a first class hotel, but the wonderful surprise was the amazingly personable and exceedingly helpful staff. Thank you.

Review 86:Our King room was spacious and beautiful with great amenities - hidden kitchenette and even a washing machine in the room! The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Review 87:At the bar I'd ordered a glass of pink mumm champagne, it was flat. I had to ask for a new one, when I asked when it was opened the bartender told me the bottle was opened 3 days prior. I didn't find it acceptable to serve a glass of French champagne knowing how old it was.

Review 88:Breakfast not included in room rate

Review 89:We got a complimentary surprise champaign bottle to our room as this was our honeymoon trip! Great extra point! Very professional and helpful staff, room small but perfectly clean with 2x housekeeping per day. Room offered all we needed. Many nice restaurants nearby. Wifi complimentary for 100MB per day

Review 90:The Emporium precinct has great cafes and restaurants and plenty of parking. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Easy access to the city and 24 hour reception. I'll certainly book the Emporium when next in town for business.

Review 91:Pillows and bed comfort was low the bed was too soft and the pillow selection pillows were too thin

Review 92:Attentive staff and luxurious rooms one with venues that charged to rooms nearby excellent night out.

Review 93:I booked for my Trainer, under his name via booking.com, when he arrived at the hotel they had to call my mobile to make sure he was the correct person checking in, even though I specifically indicated his name when I booked online.

Review 94:The ONLY thing I was a little disappointed on was the night stay was a gift for my mother on her bday and we wanted to spend some time in the bar before dinner. It was really busy because of a hens night I believe, and there was no seating or area for people actually staying in the hotel... So we had to walk down the road and find another bar.

Review 95:Fantastic option and I would say the only option in Brisbane, away from the city madness. They have worked on the small details including the offerings in the mini bar. Good size room for the money.

Review 96:Unfortunately no where within the hotel to have a decent breakfast. Didn't like the soft pillow top on the bed, way too soft for my liking.

Review 97:Very nice hotel in a great area

Review 98:The hotel made a claim on my credit card for the full amount of the stay plus around 20% the day before I arrived. It then takes at least a week for the amount to be cleared. This goes against the Booking.com claim of no pre payments.

Review 99:Pretty good all round,except ??

Review 100:Nothing

Review 101:Staff were very efficient, friendly and courteous. The room was gorgeous and bed super comfortable. Very clean. Cocktail bar was also excellent place for pre-dinner drink. Recommend Gerrad's Bistro - five minute walk away. This restaurant was recommended by Cocktail Bar staff member. Excellent recommendation. Also great coffee in the little french patisserie next door to hotel.

Review 102:This is my favourite hotel in Brisbane, however with this stay and my previous stay, about a month ago, the rooms have a very musty smell, there appears to be some problem with the air con. The windows are locked and can't be opened which prevents fresh air circulating into the room.

Review 103:Love the pool and the nearby restaurants

Review 104:Wasn't provided wifi password and mini bar bill incorrectly charged which took some time to resolve. Also maid entered room without warning due to incorrect checkout information.

Review 105:Friendly staff, good location.

Review 106:The greeting from the staff when I checked in was woeful. She did not smile and she just assumed I had stayed there before. When I asked her a simple question, the face she pulled was disgraceful. Luckily the staff when checking out were wonderful and made up for that initial experience.

Review 107:The hotel takes Holding fees and takes for ever to re fund. Two weeks is way too long. Will not go back or recommend this Hotel

Review 108:Being a smaller hotel

Review 109:We added the Romantic Turn down, and theres nothing like turning up to a bed covered in rose petals and champagne on your wedding night! The staff were wonderfully helpful. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion

Review 110:Mould in silicone on shower screen, tiles cracked and chipped , grout has lost its colour, vanity cracked Bathroom is looking tired For 2 years mirror in lift has large crack not a good look Carpet in lifts need replacing its faded and loosing its colour

Review 111:Location staff & decor

Review 112:Nothing! The room, service, bar and facilities were excellent!

Review 113:I liked that reception accommodated a check in even when my fiancé was late and had the credit cards. They could see I had a bad day and I had locked myself out of Internet banking and though I would have to wait 1+ hours for my fiancé to arrive from a delayed flight. Reception took a copy of my DL and let me up into the room! Within 30 minutes I had showered and contacted my bank and went back to sort it and thanked them for allowing me into the room - that was all I needed was a moment to regroup!

Review 114:From the moment i made the reservation the service of 5 star quality began with an email offering free upgrade to what was already a king room.Smiles at arrival, fantastic food at any hour, acomodating any request. Nothing seemed an effort. 10/10

Review 115:None at all - we will be back!

Review 116:Location, very comfortable bed, great cocktail bar, very friendly staff, valet parking, roof top swimming pool, quality of in-room products

Review 117:Wifi was questionable at best, but was used to this in other hotels in Australia, and was at least free in this hotel.

Review 118:Great hotel for the money, bed and amenities were great.

Review 119:the sheets are always too short and come out when you are sleeping. we booked a spa room and they gave us one without a spa, and were unable to fix the situation as they were fully booked

Review 120:clean, good quality bed , nice mini bar and coffee making facilities

Review 121:Nothing. All fantastic

Review 122:Loved the decor, aromas in foyer fantastic. Great staff, all professional, friendly, helpful and real. Free water bottles appeared in car and bedroom regularly.

Review 123:Unmade bed, dirty floors, unclean surfaces, hair on linen, constant noise. Photos available if required.

Review 124:Cocktail bar service downstairs was redeeming feature. Thank you.

Review 125:The water from the shower stall will leak into the bathroom. Do not put towels or slippers in front of the shower door or they will get soaked. Most of the staff are really lovely and helpful - and so easy to have a chat to. The one (unfortunate) exception was that the young man who brought the room service breakfast was grumpy, didn't want to engage in conversation (I said "how are you" in return to his automated greeting and was greeted with stony silence). He unceremoniously dumped the tray half on and half off the table before stomping off with his nose in the air - he didn't look at the request card either - there was a request for a bottle of water which was not delivered. This is the only taint on my stay.

Review 126:The king suite was clean, spacious and thoughtfully appointed. Great that there is a pillow menu! Spa bath looked nice but didn't get a chance to try it. The room service came promptly on time. Reception staff was knowledgeable about local eateries and made some great recommendations and bookings.

Review 127:The fact that we were only there for one night!

Review 128:Service was fantastic, staff are always so professional and attentive. We love staying at the Emporium. It was our 24th wedding anniversary and although we only stayed one night, we felt so relaxed by the time we went home. Cocktail bar is classy, pool and sauna great, rooms extremely well maintained and bed was so comfortable.

Review 129:They advertise there address as 1000 Ann Street but Garmin GPS denies there is such an address. Staff are aware of the problem but dont think managment is doing anything about it ! Also I am not used to paying for WIFI.

Review 130:No kids policy. Would love to bring my family next time but won't be able to stay here.

Review 131:Roomy rooms, excellent room service, quiet, great affordable restaurants nearby

Review 132:Our initial room was not up to standard. We had to change keys three times. The front desk staff were not up to standard And the sheets had a to be changed. We also experienced a very poor room service Food.

Review 133:We liked the pool the peace and quiet and decor and the location
