Reviews for Sara's Boutique Hotel

Review 1:Although very comfy, the bed was way too big for the room. No fan in bathroom meant smoke alarm went off every time you got our the shower, and there was nothing to clear the water away so the whole floor got wet. Only 2 x coffee pods and 2 x teabags allowed per day, according to guy on reception. When I asked if I could get breakfast tea instead of green tea, I was told "no", so I bought my own, but was still rationed on coffee. I was sold a tiny bottle of wine for 7 euros, and had to go back down for a glass to drink out of as none given in room - only two paper cups per day. No lamps meant bright lights at night and no reading light, a rug by the bed and/or some cushions would have made the room more welcoming. There was only one ornament/object in whole room and that was randomly useless and ugly. Finally, the WC in foyer had no towel, no soap, no mirror and no toilet tissue. I commented on a few of these issues but was met with blank, couldn't-care-less stares. Poor, poor show for a competitive hotel,

Review 2:The bed was big and very comfy and the room was very clean and the location is perfect for shoppers.

Review 3:We would definitely stay here again. Great location. The hotel is newly renovated. Nice large (and clean) rooms and bathrooms. The hotel staff was kind and accommodating.

Review 4:the sound insulation from inside noise of the hotel is very poor (noise from the people in the corridor/stairs or above). the bathroom is to small compare to the size of the room, the sink is really incredibly microscopic.

Review 5:good location near the channels. Easy acces to the center. Very friendly and available staff at the reception. Good and modern design in the room recently renewed. The italian restaurant in front of the hotel offers very good food with affordable prices.

Review 6:The hairdrayer didn't work and the guy from the reception offer us another room.if you want a quiet room stay at the 4th floor, but it can take a while to get there (the lift is very slow).

Review 7:The bed was amazing comfortable;modern room, cosy and clean;close to the centre. The best option from the aerport to the location is bus 197, it leaves you very close to the hotel.

Review 8:Fellow travellers; avoid room 17! The noise from the lift is quite disturbing. Though my tiny room was comfortable enough, it was lacking standard hotel amenities like a kettle, a bedside light, and an alarm clock.

Review 9:The location is excellent, on a lovely street with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. It's very close to the museum quarter and Vondelpark. Staff are nice and the hotel is clean.

Review 10:The stairs to the second floor were very steep. They did have an elevator, but still not as accessible as most hotels.

Review 11:The location was excellent and the place although small was cozy. It was clean and well very maintained!

Review 12:The location was very good only 5 minutes walk away from Leidseplein. Getting there from Amsterdam Centraal was easily done with a number of trams heading to the square. Other tourist spots were a walking distance away as well. Staff were friendly and helpful when needed. We managed to get the room upgraded to one with a larger bed for free which was worth the change. Be aware that check in is 3pm (even though they ask when you will arrive), however there is a place to put your bags if you arrive before. We would recommend this hotel for other travellers.

Review 13:it is not the worth the money the bathroom is super small and has no hanger the safe are not even fixed, just loos in the small cupboard

Review 14:The modern touch of the rooms

Review 15:Stairs! Crazy steep. Only men working there? Bit strange but they were quite nice. The rooms could do with a bit more sound proofing. We heard our next door neighbour on the loo.

Review 16:Very nice hotel in a nice spot. About 5 minutes walk from the nearest cafe. Clean and newly refurbished. Friendly and helpful staff. The slowest lift in the world was hilarious.

Review 17:Sound insulation wasnt the best, you can hear every word being said in the lobby including the TV blaring all night. The room itself whilst comfortable really needed a deep clean, everything I left out of a bag was covered by a thick layer of dust by the morning!

Review 18:Incredibly comfortable bed, great location and helpful staff.

Review 19:No phone in the rooms so no way to communicate with reception except going actually there !!!!! One night during weekend was too expensive

Review 20:New finishing of rooms Good location

Review 21:The lift is like being in a time warp machine and taking the stairs to the 4th floor was like an intensive gym workout!

Review 22:Great location, clean and tidy accommodation with helpful and friendly staff

Review 23:Small, with very narrow steps (elevator but takes a long time, so best for those that can go up and down stairs easily), but VERY clean. Quiet location but perfectly situated between several bustling areas of the city.

Review 24:The floor being hard was a problem with the "anxious" upstairs room neighbor. The room was too small. There was no glass in the bathroom for the tooth paste and brush. No change to have a breakfast - perhaps my fault as I did not pay attention to it when booking.

Review 25:The staff was very kind. The bed was a double size. The street in front was almost car free noise but there's a restaurant in front and people talking till late. Italian shower.

Review 26:The stairs are a little steep and the room was too warm at night

Review 27:Great location, short walk from the main attractions. Great size room and shower was brilliant. The staff were very helpful.

Review 28:I don’t recommend this hotel. I decided to move to another hotel despite coming night was prepaid. It looks like owners just copied formal hotel’s attributes, but deliver ZERO usability. Will try to give an actionable feedback, but I think it’s about ownership. • Bathroom is just an epic fail: 1) the sink is so small (about 10*30 cm) that it is impossible to wash up and there is no space to put even teeth brushes somewhere near; 2) no shelves/hangers at all. Dear hotel owners – where I have to put bath staff? used towels? 3) shower itself – excellent example of “how to do a global flood” • The room was large, about half of it was just an empty space, but there was only one small closet, which was almost entirely occupied by a safe. Safe bought without regard to the size of the closet, so they turned it on edge. I had to put it out. Owners don’t like hangers – so you clothes/outerwear you have to put on armchairs. • Lack of breakfast facilities – quite unusual – but ok, we were guided to very nice place in 200 meters. • Staff – young guys – but not friendly, not typical for Amsterdam.

Review 29:Fresh refurbishment. Comfort to sleep

Review 30:At €200 I believed the room was a little on the small side. Adding to this, at that price a balcony room should be standard.

Review 31:The location and staff of the Hotel were fantastic, only been a 15 minute walk to most places and the staff been friendly and helpful.

Review 32:tiny uncomfortable room (certainly not 20m2), bathroom bad design (canot place/hang anything), balcony door and safe box damaged, coffee not replaced the 2nd night. None of these acceptable at > 150 eur/night.

Review 33:staff flexibility, good location, bright room with cute little balcony, comfortable bed, neat place overall

Review 34:The lift that they have installed is the slowest I've ever seen in my life, took about 5min to go up to the 4th floor, not for the claustrophobic ! there are no hooks in the bathroom or anywhere in the room to hang the towels, so you have just have to leave it hanging on the door or be creative ! Overall quite noisy, you can hear the people in the room next to yours, when they came back middle of the night, or when they left early in the morning. A bit too warm in the room too, maybe the heating can be put down a little, we didn't find the button.

Review 35:The room was cosy, big comfy bed, location was great. We had a good sleep. I do recommend to stay on the top floor though.

Review 36:extreeeemly loud room, could hear every WORD spoken on the reception and elevator or sth., bathroom: nothing to hang towels, no space for anything, sink mini small, water goes everywhere...;big spider in the room

Review 37:very modern and near to the city

Review 38:Room and attached bathroom were beyond tiny...the space was probably originally designed to be a closet.

Review 39:Excellent location, friendly staff, very clean. The elevator was so slow, the experience was what I imagine getting into a time machine would be like ;-)

Review 40:Small quiet hotel, good location. When most well known hotels in Amsterdam are priced at 200 euro or above, this hotel proved an acceptable alternative.

Review 41:The elevator is slow and loud, and this is a small place. If ur in the single room ur head will be up against the elevator shaft. Other rooms are not. Not a problem 1st nite, no one used it, but got the 3am wake up call 2nd nite. U need it for ur luggage, but u'll usually use the hallariously steep stairs (cuz elev is so slow). Single room is small! But bed is long and comfortable. No where to put anything down, so travel lite. No lobby or vending. All in all OK, it's AMS!!

Review 42:I liked that Sara's was clean and new. Good location close to museums, tram (3 blocks), Lidl store. It's a small hotel row, but in a residential hood, so local's restaurants and shops. If u need ideas for your 'Tiny House' the single room bath will inspire U ;-))

Review 43:The stairs are terrifying, like a ladder. There is an elevator if you're disabled, but if it's not necessary, the lift takes too long. Wear comfortable shoes.

Review 44:The bed was an actual queen size, unlike the other strange European double bed design, that imitates a queen. The staff are good looking young guys, who are laid back and helpful. Get this, I left several credit cards in the room and they got them back to me before I left A'dam. Above and beyond, doubt many other hotels would go to the trouble. Also, wonderful balcony.

Review 45:Zero smile at checkin. No hand soap even after requesting. No hangers I bathroom. No shower curtain so all gets flooded if you dare take a shower, etc etc

Review 46:Location

Review 47:Person on reception on arrival did not display customer relations skills. No soap in bathroom and shower sprayed over the entire bathroom area

Review 48:Person on reception when we left was absolutely fantastic and assisted us in a very helpful and happy manner

Review 49:Easy walk to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum as well as Leidsiplein shops and restaurants. Good access to public transport to and from the airport.

Review 50:The small room beside the noisey lift. To open the window you have to heave the wardrobe( which is useless by the way) out of the way ending up blocking access to the bathroom.

Review 51:the bike rental is cheaper and less hassle than elsewhere

Review 52:No where to hang anything - the bathrooms are wet rooms and the towels - well they get Wet - as there is no where to hang them or a toilet bag even. No plugs by the mirrors in the main room. The bedside cabinet practically fell apart when I opened the drawer. Our first room was very noisy and claustrophobic (so small you had to walk sideways to get down the end of the bed and could not fit the luggage down the narrow space.) so we asked if it could be changed - they changed the room for a lovely big one at the back with a balcony which was what I originally asked for so that was good but still nowhere to hang anything plus no new toiletries ( I think the expression ' luxury toiletries' is pushing it a bit)! Nor did they give us more coffee or tea - in fact the coffee and tea situation was very sad for the price charged. When they changed our room we came back In the The afternoon to find our bags still down in reception! A nice touch would have been to put them ready in the room for us. This place has potential but they need to go the extra mile and Smile more! As it stands at the moment I think they are charging way too much for what they are offering and I would not return.

Review 53:What can I say? Huge potential and a lovely old traditional Amsterdam building all recently refurbished - great showers and very clean - beds also very comfortable and large - but the lack of customer service and little things lacking in the rooms really let it down. But they were nice about changing our room. I hope with time things will get ironed out.

Review 54:There was no frig in the room, and paper cups we had to reuse for four days could be improved on. A big bed in a small space.

Review 55:Easy access to trams and dining areas.

Review 56:room is very very small. there are no chair, no slipper, no refrigerator. the air condition runs constantly in the bathroom.

Review 57:cleaning and location of the hotel are perfect.

Review 58:The wifi was a bit slow and the lift too. And the stairs a wee bit steep but manageable. And gets a wee bit noisey when people get in and out,but thats if you sleep in.

Review 59:It was great location and the rooms are brand new. Good bikes but you paid more than the norm but is convience. And the Marilyn Monroe picture in the room.

Review 60:Room #4 was NOISY! Staff were the biggest problem having loud conversations with their friends or other guests at the front desk with no regard for those in rooms nearby.

Review 61:Easy walking distance to museums, Leidseplein and bus 197 to the airport.

Review 62:The room was super small, with a double bed you could bearly move around it. Also, it is not nearby the attractions nor restaurants so requires walking or taking tram. The elevator is super slow.

Review 63:New hotel so the instalations are nice and clean

Review 64:It was the noisiest hotel i've stayed in: I was given a room on the ground floor right by the lobby and was kept awake with noise from people entering, talking and opening and closing doors. Anyone walking in the hall way sounded like they were in your room the doors were that thin! No insonorisation at all, I had to wear earplugs. The bathroom is so small you can't even wash your face in the sink. In the room I found a dirty sock underneath the bed that was probably from a previous guest. Thats gross! Given the noise issue which shouldn't be underestimated, I think the hotel is a bit overpriced.

Review 65:The hotel is newly renovated, the staff is friendly and the bathroom seemed pretty clean.

Review 66:Getting upstairs involves either a very steep spiralling staircase that would look more in place in an ancient castle, or a *very* slow elevator that takes almost two minutes to get to the 4th floor. Also that elevator makes a lot of noise and can be loudly heard in your room (including at night)

Review 67:Immaculately clean room, polite staff

Review 68:First, the tv and wifi were out. This was specifically the reason that I booked the hotel as I had a skype meeting in the morning. I guess that this wasn't their fault and cable companies the world over are terrible, but it was still annoying. Was given a ground floor room right next to the managers office. Very thin walls meant that I could hear everyone who came into the lobby and also could hear the manager watching tv (why they had tv and we didn't is still a mystery) until 11:30/12 at night. Then the fire alarm went off at 7am - was told that this was because of steam from another guests shower. Not a particularly restful night. Found the weekend staff to be unhelpful. Aside from letting me hear their television until late at night, they also explained that due to lack of internet they couldn't process my credit card, and that they wanted me to pay up front, in cash... or I could leave a credit card number with them.... super shady... None of this was actually needed as I found out on Monday when I checked out. Sad to leave Amsterdam, but very glad my stay at this place was only 2 nights.

Review 69:The neighbourhood this hotel was in was great. It was a short walk to the heart of the city, but had lots of restaurants and cafes right around the corner. Felt very safe, even at night and was generally very pleasant

Review 70:They didn't have WiFi when I arrived as they had a problem so was a problem to me as I had to work. The elevator is not good at all very very slow take ages to arrive to the upper floor. I wish they have telephone in the room so people can call the reception so no need to go down all the time to ask a question.

Review 71:The stuff was very nice, the place is very clean, good location and quite.

Review 72:Very small bedroom. no A/C with 35-40 degrees the days I visited Amsterdam. Should provide hangers in the room and bathroom. Still with a very good value for money relation given the good location and the high(er) prices of other hotels nearby

Review 73:Very good location. Very well renovated

Review 74:There are steep stairs that are kind of fun at first, but could be dangerous. There is also a lift so don't worry. The recent renovation looks great but there a few issues in our room. Like no where to hand towels, no bench space for toiletries in the bathroom, poor drainage in the shower which meant it overflowed into the rest of the bathroom. No aircon - i think this is probably normal, but unfortunately the temperatures for our stay were abnormally high. The pillows on the bed were also not very comfortable.

Review 75:I loved the king size bed - even though the bed in our room basically went wall to wall. And I liked the big windows.

Review 76:Staff in the night shift was very impolite. He behave like we are stupid during our check-in. Rooms in the ground floor is noisy because the poor sound isolation of the door.

Review 77:Good price. Very close to very attractive Leidseplein. Ground floor rooms have a garden :)

Review 78:Bathroom could have been slightly bigger.

Review 79:Hotel was located just a bridge away from central district and was much more affordable than comparable hotels in the central district. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Review 80:Room was near lift and staircase, not recommended for light sleepers. Bathroom was flooded after taking a shower so brush your teeth first!

Review 81:Great bed, nice room and bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. Great location and the Italian restaurant nearby was superb!

Review 82:shower was a bit inconvenient, and whole bathroom space had insufficient lighting

Review 83:very modern, comfy, stylish rooms, recently renovated, quite good location within walking distance from main attractions

Review 84:Absolut no place to put ennything down in the bathroom and the downstairs bedroom is so wat from noisy you cant realy relax there.

Review 85:Perfect lokation and a very comvertable bed.

Review 86:Given the cost, there were little details missing, such as nowhere to hang towels, no soap provided in bathroom and no soap in toilet by reception. Room was very small and lift incredibly slow

Review 87:Location, coffee-maker in room, general cleanliness, comfy bed

Review 88:I've paid around the same price before in Amsterdam and the hotels have ended up being absolute holes. This hotel has been finished to such a high quality, in a great location and great price.

Review 89:The sink was very very small and didn't like the fact you could hear everything, not very sound proof at all

Review 90:The room was very nicely decorated, amazing king size bed and the shower was beautiful

Review 91:The bad side of the hotel was the stairs because they were really steep, so you have to use the elevator which is really slow.

Review 92:Very nice and pleasant stay. The hotel is not in the centre but it is really close to all of the tourist attractions. The staff always cleans the room and make the bed for you. If you have any problems they are always happy to help.

Review 93:Accessibility is not the best. The stairs are very steep and narrow. There is a lift but it is very small and slow. The toilet is also small.

Review 94:Modern monochromatic decoration in a large double room. Very big bed and clean room. Great value for money and easy to locate.

Review 95:The staff were bordering on rude, the room cramped and impractical with no surfaces to put anything on and the bathroom steamed up the bedroom beyond belief. No breakfast included in the price. Paying 470 euros for 2 nights at a hotel like this was a huge huge disappointment (NB: payment was demanded upon arrival, rather than on check out). The room was noisy with no water or mini bar. All in all, a very disappointing stay.

Review 96:Good location - but unfortunately that's about where it ends...

Review 97:Where do I start ???I put please DO NOT use my credit card on the request form and i will pay cash on my arrival - only to find on my arrival the card had been billed - costing me about e 15 extra for nothing the manager charged me for vat ( which was included ) he then payed me e 9 out of his own pocket when i complained - how many others has he caught ? the beb CANNOT BE MOVED with both ends against the wall the window only opens about 3 inches (9 cm ) because of the wardrobe the WHOLE BATHROOM FLOODS after using the shower - if you want to use toilet / washbasin you have to paddle in water there are CHEAPER AND BETTER HOTELS in the area - eg - jupiter + d hoter

Review 98:Not much !!

Review 99:The main downside of the hotel is that it's not sound-proof AT ALL - you can literally hear someone sneezing in the next room, not to mention usual talks of guests coming and going through the hall. The elevator is very noisy. That's why I'am not ranking the hotel high as for comfort. The bathroom was tiny and therefore not very comfortable to use; it was really difficult not to flood it completely when taking a shower. My room on the ground floor had a kind of terrace, but facing a wall, so the room was rather dark all day.

Review 100:Very kind and extremely helpful staff at the reception. Fantastic localization - close to the center, yet quiet. Brand new, comfortable furniture - there's everything you need, even for a longer stay. Complimentary coffee in the room.

Review 101:The floor was very dirty, proper vacuum cleaning in this room is needed. If cleaned, it would be a perfect room. Shower is a bit strange, as it doesn't really close and thus the water is everywhere on the floor after taking a shower. But it dries out quickly

Review 102:Great location - close to a nice lively square with many bars and restaurants but still in a quiet street, easy to reach from the airport - direct bus + 5-7min walk; big room, nice bed, everything in the room is quite new.

Review 103:it said daily maid service but we only got the room cleaned once during our stay. Maybe because we left a little after 11 some days but that normally doesn't make difference on other hotels. When they had cleaned they did it poorly. The bathroom still had the small plastic garbage from the soaps left in the shower and on the floor. The bathroom mirror was more dirty when we left (cleaned with only a wet rag?) Our socks were always full of dirt when walking on the floor. And even though the bedding was clean it still had particles and hair upon the bed when we entered. The floor was also were industrial and cold. The man in reception seemed to think everything was a hassle. In stead of saying "I'll check" he said "why would I know?". Said we would get basic toiletteries but only got soap so we had to buy schampoo. Then when they cleaned we got schampo but we had already bought our own. My hopes wouldn't be so high if it was a cheaper hotel but it was pretty expensive and 3 stars.

Review 104:The location was pretty good with lots of restaurants and 10 minute walk to center. And it was nice and quiet. The rooms were nicely decorated. nice, comfy bed. Great with a little balcony and dark drapes for when you wanted to sleep in.

Review 105:Bathroom is Very small, there was no place really to put anything, no glasses so we used paper coffee cups, water from the shower splashes over the floor. Little storage space to unpack for multi-day stay.

Review 106:Excellent bed, plenty of hot water, very modern, clean and quiet. Good lighting and the Wi-Fi always worked. Helpful staff. The stairs are very steep but there is an elevator.

Review 107:The location is great - a calm residential area close to restaurants and attractions. The contemporary room was nicely put together and very clean. It was chic, convenient and friendly, a good place to stay.

Review 108:The single room I got was twice the size of the bed, the bathroom a 2 sq. m. cell with the tiniest sink ever (not bigger than a sheet of A4 paper). New equipment, bur already starting to fall apart. Even if Amsterdam is an expensive town, not worth the price. A pity, because one could see the efforts to make the place cosy.

Review 109:The location is convenient, very close to the Museum and theater area, walking distance to the city center. Newly refurbished

Review 110:- Extra charge for local taxes not announced in the booking. - Refurbishment made uncomfortable corners. Moving inside the room was quite hard. - very low elevator. - noisy hall. Steps and chats from other hosts can be easily listened which make sleeping hard. - no hangs in the toilet

Review 111:- Nice design. - Coffee machine. They provided for 2 coffees and 2 teas.

Review 112:Incredibely small rooms. In the showerroom: no place to put the toileteries, even no glass for washing teeth. Very bad soundproofed. 120€/night for sleeping in a noisy cupboard, breakfast not included...

Review 113:The situation, the design inside.

Review 114:The room was simple which was suitable for travellers who planned to sightsee most of the day. The furnishing was modern espically the bathroom. The location of hotel was 5 minute walk from a main tram stop so you could get everywhere from there.

Review 115:Only down side, booked for 1 adult and 1 child and was given a double bed, ok because I had a youngster but wouldn't of been suitable with an older child

Review 116:The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The hotel was quiet and close to all the sights and transport links

Review 117:Just 700 m from the nice Leidseplain in the museum district. The hotel is located inside a characteristic old building but it's brand new. The room was very confortable and clean, the shower in our private bathroom was simply amazing like an healing hand after 2 days traveling in the wonderful but rainy land. The nice staff is the cherry upon the cake!

Review 118:We arrived dreadfully late due to getting lost and plane delays, staff had waited for us to arrive and where very helpful and kind. The room we where in (445) was lovely, had a wonderful bedroom hidden above the lounge which felt like a lovely den. Aswell the last night my partner spilt wine over the bed by accident, which when we checked out the next morning and told them they were perfectly fine with and very understanding. In all lovely stay, just wished we could have stayed there linger as it was a lovely room in a good location

Review 119:The stairs are really small and not easy to use them specailly if you are carrying a luggage bag, but the good thing they have installed a new elevator to solve this issue, but during my stay was not working properly and the hotel informed me that it will be fixed after the weekend.

Review 120:The location is good and reashable to all your need

Review 121:Very clean, quiet hotel in a fantastic location. Ideal for shopping and sightseeing. Very helpful staff.

Review 122:Location, big rooms, nespresso machine, views, comfortable

Review 123:A little noisy.

Review 124:Nice location (lifely neighbourhoud without much tourists), friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room.

Review 125:Missing bed side lamps. Flooring in rooms is a little strange.

Review 126:Friendly staff. Great location. Large bed. Coffee in room. New bathroom.

Review 127:Total ambience, comfort, location, safety

Review 128:Facilities, staff

Review 129:Lift is very slow

Review 130:Nothing

Review 131:Location, room size, and thfriendly staff there

Review 132:Some of the reception staff are in the wrong job, they were quite rude.

Review 133:The bed was comfy and I like the location, just on the edge of the action.

Review 134:There is supermarket near. Taxi to the airports is convenient.
