Reviews for Casa Andina Classic Machu Picchu
Review 1:The noise from the train station was a little overwhelming. Thank goodness the last train left at 10:00 p.m. The ambiance isn't exactly complimentary of the area. I felt as if though I was in a hospital room rather than a hotel room. Rooms are clean but feel cold and sterile.
Review 2:Staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfasts are good - if you want eggs, you must ask for them. Rooms are clean although a little musty smelling.
Review 3:The hotel was right across from the train station, which was great in terms of accessibility, but not so great at night when the trains came into town blowing their whistles. My husband did not sleep a wink!
Review 4:It was a great hotel with very comfortable and modern rooms, wonderful views. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Review 5:This hotel certainly is 3 star status, nudging 4 star. Perfectly located beside the railway station and steps away from the bus stop to Machu Picchu. Couldn't fault it, it is a cut above many.
Review 6:Nothing bad - the design is pretty basic. Not a luxurious or interesting design but was clean and roomy. In room wifi costs an extra 15 soles.
Review 7:Very new and clean. Close to train station. Room looked out on Urabamba River - great view.
Review 8:very high train voice which is unbelievable..
Review 9:Victor is a great receptionist.. He is very gentle, helpfull and always smiling.. I really apreciate him.. If I come to MP again I will chose this hotel just because of his good behavior to guests.. Breakfast was nice with a beautiful view. Room was nice and clean..
Review 10:Slight problem with the room temperature, I think there's no AC in the room just ceiling fan. Generally speaking the city was cool even though after long way walking we need to cool down more
Review 11:Everything
Review 12:I have been using a different chain of hotels and they are so much better. There was only free wifi in the public areas and it was difficult to access. There was no water provided and no fresh juice at breakfast. Most of the staff appeared incompetent.
Review 13:Well located. Good, clean rooms.
Review 14:All the twin rooms face the train tracks. And the trains go through, at night (ear plugs at the ready) Free wi-fi only in Lobby area. Password changes every two days. It's very modern, so if you are looking for a cozier experience this is not the place.
Review 15:Very comfortable and clean. The decoration is like every new hotel in Europe - for those who like it. Very good shower. Buffet breakfast ready at 5am for those going up to Machu Picchu - very good quality and options.
Review 16:no free wifi in the room. Should be available as a basic service.
Review 17:Very friendly and polite workers. I saw they have people cleaning the leaves outside the hotel, which is very good. They were very helpful during my stay as well. I was having sore throat and asked for some salt in the midnight. They provided the salt asap. The workers are all very patience.
Review 18:WiFi only for 4 hours available for free, rooms not soundproof, window lacked a mosquito net which is essential there
Review 19:Cleanliness of the room, good breakfast, were allowed to wait for our train after visiting Machu picchu
Review 20:Not applicable
Review 21:Friendly, courteous, trustworthy staff. Great location. Great breakfast. Excellent hot showers! Best place I have stayed in Aguas Calientes in the last 8 years!
Review 22:Having to close windows and not get air with only a fan was a bit annoying but fine.
Review 23:The dining room was nice. Central area to catch the bus and wander around to the small shops and restaurants.
Review 24:The location of the hotel is excellent. It's not too far from the train station and the hotel staff met us at the station to take our luggage. The hotel is very clean, with a nice restaurant and the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The staff was very courteous and accommodating in storing our luggage after checking out and while waiting for our train to arrive. Overall, a great experience. We would highly recommend to others traveling to Aguas Calientes.
Review 25:Smell of food in the hotel and noise since the hotel is right in the train station
Review 26:Very friendly staff they waited for us at the train station and have provided a lot of information on how to get in various locations
Review 27:When we arrived, our reservations were all messed up. They said we had reservations for two rooms each with a twin bed (we reserved 1 room with a queen for my wife and I). After 20 minutes trying to connect via their painfully slow WiFi, I had to print out our Booking.com confirmation. They did not have a Queen room available until the second night. It was stressful to say the least especially since we had come from 5 nights camping on our trek.
Review 28:Both our rooms were closets tucked next to elevators - this was not what was represented on Booking.com. No windows; poorly sealed doors. Since we we essentially using it for a single night and were out of there by 4:00 am for MP, we didn't complain. Also, though we were willing to pay, the staff didn't seem creatively willing or capable to offer room between our return from MP and train leaving, resulting in our wait in the lobby. Our friends had no problem doing same at Tierra Viva.
Review 29:Shower was great. Staff didn't seem to mind that we used lobby to wait for the train.
Review 30:The hotel overlooked the railway line so it was a bit noisy when the train came in.This is probably the case for all the hotels.
Review 31:We really enjoyed our stay at the Casa Andina. We were met at the station and escorted to the hotel which was a nice touch. The basic room was but clean. The staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was good as was the packed lunch.
Review 32:We were given a queen bed even though we had booked two twins. They only told us this after they had swiped our credit card. I asked them to check our reservation in Cusco for the beds as we were booked into the same chain hotel. We were told we didn't have a reservation in Cusco. After a lot of worry and phone calls we found out out he was wrong and our reservation was confirmed. Also took 1hr and 15 minutes wait to check in.
Review 33:Close to the railway station. Great view.
Review 34:The river view, the cleanliness of the whole room, that amazing comfy bed and pillows. The staff were always attentive and ever helpful to our requests.
Review 35:They changed the wifi password daily, so it was a little inconvenient to have to call down for the new password and reconnect each morning, but it worked well otherwise.
Review 36:We had made a special request to have two beds at the time of making our reservation, but this somehow didn't get communicated to the hotel (either it was an issue of Booking.com or an oversight by the hotel staff). However, they were great in how they responded. Despite being completely full for high season, they were able to upgrade us to a larger room and arrange for us to have a comfortable roll-away bed at no extra cost to us. The room was very spacious, super clean, and had nice views of the river. The water also got really hot, which was nice at the end of long days of hiking at Machu Picchu.
Review 37:Room with only internal window with bright light in corridor keeping me awake. Very small room. Overpriced for Peru but everything in Aguas Callientes is overpriced. Hotel is like an office block with no local character.
Review 38:It was my birthday and they delivered a little delicious cake to my room. Very clean and modern.
Review 39:Noisy with the trains arriving and the halls echo. If your room is in the inside there is little ventilation and no ac. If your room faces the train track you will hear trains arriving all night.
Review 40:The breakfast is fresh with lots of variety of fresh fruits, juices etc. The view is lovely with a river outside. Dinner was delicious. Great location! New! Friendly, efficient staff!
Review 41:I had a room towards the train tracks. Noise is really high till trains stop. Double glazing would help. If you are sensitive to noise avoid these rooms at all cost, take rooms towards the river.
Review 42:You get off the train and are literally in front of the hotel. Contemporary feel. Good restaurant if you prefer to dine in and not be attacked by mosquitos outside. Great staff, as everywhere in Peru.
Review 43:First time using Casa Andina, this is their "classic" line of hotels and everything is design thinking of great customer service. There was a confusion with the type of bed I requested via booking.com and what they received on their end, they had my brother and I down for only one bed and not two single ones . They were able solve the issue right away. Always with a smile, people in Cusco is in general super nice and they always treat Tourist the best posible way and Casa Andina Machu Picchu did not disappoint.
Review 44:Bed was small, room was tiny. Room did not have external window only internal one with a blind. Light in corridor kept me awake. Hotel a bit like office building. Not much character compared to other Casa Andina we stayed in. Overpriced but same as everything else in Aguas Callientes.
Review 45:It was my birthday and the hotel sent a small cake to my room which was lovely. Room was clean, modern. Breakfast good.
Review 46:We had a problem with our room (Mosquitos) and the manager did not accommodate us in a like room. We were put in a closet room off the kitchen. We weren't satisfied with the managers effort. Managers are there to make things happen for the customer.
Review 47:It was clean
Review 48:Though the rooms are somewhat small , this is a nice and clean Hotel at Aguas Calientes , which is the town nearest to Machu Picchu . It is about 5 minutes walk from the train station as well as the starting point for bus to Machu Picchu . The breakfast is good . It would be good if they provide coffee / tea maker in the room .
Review 49:Train noise, which is tough to avoid in most places. Water pressure wasn't always solid. Rooms were a little too bare, though I do like the "modern" look.
Review 50:Very clean rooms. Good hotel rooms for Peru. Huge space. I actually liked the location.
Review 51:i stayed at the hotel with my wife and parents for 2 nights. Rooms 501 and 502, river view. Great bed, pillows, etc. awesome view, free wifi connection, nice shower . Friendly staff and great breakfast. The location is the greatest. Very close to the station, market, bus stop, and all amenities you will need. Definitely worth it.
Review 52:We stayed in the junior suite and it was fabulous!! A very comfortable king size bed to relax after a long day of hiking and discovering Machu Picchu. Very clean and with a gorgeous view of the river!
Review 53:No tea-making facilities in the bedroom. No refrigerator. No coffee or tea facilities in the lobby. Limited breakfast. Staff deprived of any initiative or incentive due to total control by HO of national chain.
Review 54:The modern building and facilities, clean comfortable and spacious bedroom
Review 55:We could not stay longer...
Review 56:Though we stayed only one night in the hotel, we were given a room on the upper floor with river view. Can't ask for more than that!!
Review 57:Hotel was super clean, quiet, and comfortable. And the staff is amazing - when I checked in at 7pm, the soles on my boots, the only pair of shoes I brought, had completely fallen off. Staffer Edwin walked me to the shoe repair place, negotiated with the cobbler, walked me back to the hotel and then took my shoes to bring back to the repair place. At 9pm, my boots, good as new, were dropped off at my room. The staff at Casa Andina went above and beyond to make my visit wonderful.
Review 58:Hotel lacked ambience and comfort. Bedroom was basic and wasn't comfortable. Only one chair for two people, little furnishings and no frills.
Review 59:Location was perfect f
Review 60:The service from the staff was great. We felt very secure, and the hotel is well located, and not noisy. We recommend you ask for a room with a river view; our room had no outside window, but our friends had a fantastic room overlooking the Urubamba River
Review 61:The only bad thing was both shower taps were both hot water. At the bottom of the shower there was a clump of blonde hair...which wasn't mine.
Review 62:The room is great, staff are nice and Speak English too!!
Review 63:Breakfast could be better taking into consideration the price of ~140$ per night for double room.
Review 64:Room was great and trains didn't really bother us. Wifi was free and excellent as well.
Review 65:The cleaning agent they used on the floors made him slippery. Everything else was great.
Review 66:We got the superior room, overlooking the river down below. It was an amazing view! The staff members were always helpful, super friendly, and accommodated us in every way they could. Couldn't ask for more.
Review 67:The only draw back came when they recommended a restaurant that was closed for a 3 week renovation during the rainy season
Review 68:View of the river out the window is amazing, but staff were gracious and always helpful.
Review 69:I made a mistake while booking and tried to speak with somebody within 7 hours to make the correct adjustment to my arrival date. Called the hotel over a dozen times. No one answered the phones. Then I called booking.com and they informed me that nobody was answering the phone for them either. They were finally able to get a hold of them 3 days later. I was told they couldn't make changes to the booking before 7days and I was charged for the full amount.
Review 70:Breakfast was good, not great. Room did not have good ventilation and felt like we were in a steam bath. Even the floor was wet in the morning.
Review 71:Location was perfect, staff was very accommodating, hotel was clean. Definitely get a room on the river. As we went straight to Machu Picchu from train, the staff got our luggage and kept it for the day which was hugely convenient.
Review 72:we had to change the room twice because of bad sanitary conditions al the bathroom It is located in the railroad. it has noise of the trains
Review 73:the building is confortable, the beds too. The breakfast very good ,and the personal are very kindly.
Review 74:The location of this hotel can't be beat! It is very quick walk from the train station- we met some other travelers who had to carry their bags all through the town to get to their hotel. This was a BIG benefit to us. It's also right on the river which is beautiful- ask for a river view room when you book. It is easy to walk anywhere in the town from this spot and there are several restaurants and shops nearby. The train does go right by in the front, but that never bothered us noise wise. We actually thought that was kind of neat! The rain shower was such a nice touch, definitely needed after a long day of traveling. Wifi worked great! They also stored our bags while we went to Machu Picchu. In short, definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 75:We did have one problem: the room was stuffy, despite two humidifiers they put in. This is because it had no window.
Review 76:Friendly staff, clean and nice rooms, internet.
Review 77:Be sure to let them know after they clean your room(If you are staying more than one night) that you have the correct # of towels. Otherwise they might assume that you took one with you during your site- seeing. We were not charged, after I assured them they miscounted when they cleaned the room.
Review 78:Hotel open less than a year, very nice. Service Excellent.
Review 79:The only thing I didn't like was the caterpillar heavy equipment moving rocks. Was super loud
Review 80:Casa Andina was way above what I expected in Peru. I'm from Hawaii and live in a place where we have 5star hotels and service and I would say Casa Andina staff were very helpful and inviting. They exceeded all my expectations and would definitely go back! We travelled all over Peru and Casa Andina was by far the best. The food was excellent as well.
Review 81:All good!
Review 82:The location was great, we had a great view of the river and mountains (though not all rooms do.) the staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is much more expensive than the little hospedajes around town but in my opinion it was worth it.
Review 83:Our room faced the street, and the train tracks & station. It was LOUD!
Review 84:Location is great, breakfast was very nice and staff was very helpful and nice.
Review 85:Small room with no exterior window or air conditioning. Interior window opened to hallway next to elevator. Stuffy and warm and noisy.
Review 86:Good location close to the train station. Friendly helpful staff that spoke English.
Review 87:The price. Hotel not worth $200 US. Do not leave windows open or expect 100s of insects on your room. Not fun when trying to sleep.
Review 88:The hotel was clean and modern.
Review 89:Thought it would have been small and dated being so secluded from everything. Keep In mind there are no ways of getting things into this place besides by train. Very secluded. This hotel far exceeded our expectations and we only stay in good places-do not settle for anything less than the comfort we have at home. Casa andina was super, right on the river (ask for that side) and breakfast was delicious, even starting as early as 4:30 am. They were accommodating for a small extra fee to let us keep our room til 3 pm as our train left then. Very nice NEW hotel that allowed us some good sleep after the long journey to aguas calientes.
Review 90:We were given an upgrade to a unit located beside the river Urubamba. Insulation from outside noise was also good with modern windows and the hotel is very new and modern.
Review 91:The only thing that I would have liked a bit better was a better room with a view... We didn't even have a window that showed us anything outside but the room was clean and tidy just not a good view... Felt really small ...
Review 92:The staff were very friendly and helpful, and location was awesome... I loved my stay there and the township was amazing... Would definitely stay with you again... Thank you
Review 93:Nothing.
Review 94:Good staff and good location. The hotel is very close to the train station. Rooms are clean and big enough. The breakfast begins at 4:30 which is important for travellers who want to cath the first bus to Machu Picchu. You can also leave yor bag in the hotel. Breakfast is good enough.
Review 95:The door of our room was not functioning well. When we noticed that its auto-lock door didn't work, we asked to change the room, but they didn't and said it's safe. The next day, morning at 5 AM, somebody mistakenly opened the door got into the room that terrified us. Usually we could get hot shower, but some times it became cold water (between 7-9 pm). At the front desk, we always had to wait to get a room key. There were other staff around, but it seemed like they let one person who could speak English to work and others were just standing and chatting each other. Our room's wall was so thin that we heard the sound of shower from the next room. Overall, it was not worthy for paying 140 USD per night.
Review 96:It was right next to the train station, but outside sound from the station came in so easily. The building was new and clean.
Review 97:Noise
Review 98:The staff is excellent, they help us with a little problem we have with the travel agency, they also are very helpful in making sure you are ok. The food at the hotel is pretty good.
Review 99:Great location, just on the rail tracks where the Peru rail and inca rail stop. Staff very helpful, speak good English. Spacious room, restaurant serves good quality food. Irvin at the restaurant is a very friendly guy. Highly recommended.
Review 100:The staff warmly welcomed us. Had a complimentary upgraded room ready for us as a wedding present! Great warm shower. Clean quite room. Amazing breakfast buffet. And did I mention the kind friendly helpful staff. Tips are optional in Peru, but you'll want to tip these staff because they actually really earn it.
Review 101:Brand new hotel about half a block from the main square with lots of restaurants and shopping. The hotel is fresh with a minimal, modern design that reminded me of hotels in Europe. Get a room facing the river. Great hotel for the price.
Review 102:No bottles water in the rooms, but you can easily buy them next door for 2 soles. I also forgot my immigration paper and had to pay an additional tax, but this was not the hotel's fault!
Review 103:Free internet, free breakfast, staff was very helpful: we were allowed to print our tickets for free on their computers. The staff also allowed us to leave our bags there safely while we visited Machu Picchu. Great stay!
Review 104:The walls are very small. The room was enclosed with a window to the common hallway which made the room very noisy. We heard people talking and coming back and forth very late at night and wee hours of the morning.
Review 105:It is located right behind the train station and the market and very close to the buses that take you to Machu Picchu. The price was very good and the room, although small, was comfortable.
Review 106:Right on rail tracks, don't get a room facing tracks if possible. Trains went by at 2 and 4 am, quite noisy.
Review 107:staff, breakfast, cleanliness. Although not in center of Aguas Calientes, close enough within a few minutes walking, and location on river is nice.
Review 108:Very Clean Brand New Comfortable Friendly and helpful Staff English Speaking Complimentary Breakfast Compliemntary Computers and Internet in Lobby
Review 109:breakfast started at 5 o'clock. The queue for the bus for machu picchu started already at 05.15 am. the breakfast maybe 15 minutes earlier ? Breakfast itself was really good
Review 110:we were picked up from the hotel
Review 111:no tooth paste. No free a bottle of water.
Review 112:Very close to trail station.
Review 113:Noise from trains out front
Review 114:Location near buses to Machu Picchu
Review 115:Perfect.
Review 116:No air conditioning... Unacceptable!
Review 117:Location next to train station in Agusscalientes. Good breakfast
Review 118:Good location.
Review 119:Great location opposite station and with river running behind. Easy to get to, clean and modern with helpful staff
Review 120:Everything at high level
Review 121:Very clean, new, great location, near to the main points, river view
Review 122:Slow internet
Review 123:Staff was very polite and friendly.
Review 124:Staff were always friendly and helpful.
Review 125:Only complaint is that the wifi was sketchy to non-existent.
Review 126:Phenomenal! Clean, helpful, excellent facilities.
Review 127:The rooms smelled of mildew
Review 128:We loved the convenience and the staff!
