Reviews for De L'Europe Amsterdam

Review 1:The view from our balcony was excellent. The staff were courteous and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The location was superb and it is without a doubt the best hotel i have stayed in in Amsterdam. Not cheap though...

Review 2:preferred the brasserie with the old style menu and so did most of the staff.

Review 3:Great staff very helpful and always pleasant and professional. An absolute must for a visit to Amsterdam well done all for making us feel very welcome. Top drawer hotel. Rooms fantastic.

Review 4:Dinner was not exceptional for the price paid at room service. Would recommend eating out of the hotel or in the actual restaurant.

Review 5:Bathroom was lovely

Review 6:Their breakfast is expensive-36 euros.

Review 7:The hotel is beautiful. My room is lovely with a view of the Amstel river. The bathroom is marble and clean with an inviting bath tub. Above all, the service is excellent and the location is within the city which is walking distance to all major sites- museums, canals, shops and the flower market.

Review 8:Much smaller room than in my first stay. No longer any movies available and also no radio for any music

Review 9:Location is great and concierge at this hotel is always so helpful

Review 10:Entertainment system inside the suite. TV/Radio/Ipad/Bose.....complicated to use; tv switching off constantly; very poor channels selections.

Review 11:Location; Staff; Food, Cleanliness. Attitude of the staff the best we have seen so far in our lives. Top notch staff !!

Review 12:Whether this was a fluke and despite the fact that they gave me some credit. This experience should not be generalized due to some exceptional people like the manager I dealt with, Jonathan from front and Dionne from room service. The credit is justified and I have to write the review and share my experience. The credit is not meant to keep the story untold. Except for the flooding which was caused by another guest that left their shower on, then created the leak to my room there are other aspects that are very poor. The leak was excusable, it was not caused by the hotels condition. The leak happened on our last day. That disaster was the icing on the cake. Still, the leak on my shoes and fox fur jacket wet. I never got to wear it. The manager offered to help, but after repeated issues I couldn't trust the service. My problem with this hotel is its poor service by the select few, lack of attention to details and subpar in room food dining. My first day- Front desk offered to place dinner reservations at a restaurant that I had looked forward to going. I wish I never had accepted their assistance. It was meant to be for a date 2 days from my arrival. The same night I received a letter confirming the dinner was made on a different day, hence I lost my place and had to go somewhere else. It was a good place, but was not my choice. Also, on the same night of arrival I set up a cake to be delivered on a certain day. This cake was delivered on the wrong day, which ruined my surprise. I also asked for an I room massage which at first was confirmed on a different day and had I not caught on I wouldn't have been able to correct it. So the massage appt was done right, but only because I caught the mistake beforehand. On top of this, the front kept calling my room to inform us of the cake and dinner reservations, concierge knew it was a surprise, so basically they blew the surprise by talking to the birthday celebrant.

Review 13:The response of the manager towards the issues that arose was good. The room was beautiful.

Review 14:The restaurant was phenomenal and the concierge service excellent. Rooms very comfortable though small. Lots of interesting gadgets. Wonderful under floor heated bathroom.

Review 15:It was a bit dark in decor. Dated but that is what Paris is.

Review 16:Lovely older hotel with lots of charm and attentive staff on side streets of Paris. Met our needs.

Review 17:Precious few. Rooms were not ready even though we arrived around 3:00 pm. One room was rushed and the other took until 4:40 to be ready.

Review 18:Location, service, rooms, dining are all above ny expectations. I really relaxed and enjoyed my visit.

Review 19:The ladies at the reception Tuesday night.Spt. 22nd. One of them realized that I did not want to stay in the attic, but still installed me in 520 so I had to change room the next day, which is a nuicance when you have two days only.

Review 20:That I on the second day was treated by Alexander With friendliness and Hospitality. He gave me the room I preferred.

Review 21:The room was quite small and dark although it was supposed to be a junior suite. I think we need more honest room descriptions, generally not just this hotel.

Review 22:The Public Areas and Bathroom

Review 23:I had an ordinary non-suiite for the first time and it was terrible. No view and tiny for $400 a night. Hotel is only worth it if you have a junior suite +

Review 24:Nothing serious, but the steps to the Gym can be tricky.

Review 25:People were not only correct, but really nice, always ready to help or simply have a nice chat. The Brasserie is a marvellous place and Room Service, having forgotten a demand, insisted in bringing me tea and cookies :).

Review 26:Our only complaint would be the staff in the Bistro seemed very disorganized as you would not have the same server so no one seemed to know or ask about your needs. We found it very annoying.

Review 27:The location was wonderful, as we were able to walk to most museums etc. The hotel was very beautiful, rooms very large and bright. The Concierge staff was excellent and very efficient.

Review 28:Nothing negative

Review 29:Perfect location, friendly helpful staff. We had a romantic getaway and the guests relations manager went an extra mile to make our stay unforgettable. We've been assigned a suite and nice welcome amenities were sent in the room.

Review 30:I reserved a room suite with a canal view and had a great experience. The guy that received us at the door and took our car to the parking lot in the afternoon was the most helpful I met during our summer trip through Europe. Overall great service.

Review 31:Verging on expensive compared to comparable hotels, although meets all expectation for the level charged. Be careful to note price of breakfast if not included in room rate.

Review 32:Excellent location, with good facilities and friendly and helpful staff. Concierge managed to get us timed (essential) tickets for Anne Frank House. Lovely bar and restaurant on canal level.

Review 33:The buffet breakfast was good but wish to have more varieties

Review 34:Great Location, helpful, kind and respectful staff The coceierge is well knowledged he suggested a trip to waterland with a couple which was unforgettable experience I suggest people to book a room with balcony to enjoy the breathtaking view of the river

Review 35:For your so nice and so tasty fish, please serve with boiled potatoes. Chips are so Belgian! Can improve your breakfast.

Review 36:Beautiful old hotel in the heart of the town. Fantastic and tasty terrace restaurant by the canal. Fantastic staff. Thank you!

Review 37:I should spend few more days there!

Review 38:1.I loved the Freddy's Bar\Restaurant, 2.Concierge and staffs are very helpful, 3.Fabulous view (river view) from the room 126, 4.Relaxing and fantastic Spa, 5. Great gym 24 hours.

Review 39:The selection of breakfast could be better. It is very expensive for what it is,(not a 5 star hotels breakfast), especially the lack of fruit and the fruit that was available (the green melon) was not ripe. Very few clothes hangers.

Review 40:Fantastic location, very comfortable bed and a lovely room.

Review 41:Help desk could have been a little more helpful as to what is available for tours. One person in particular seemed too busy to be a much help.

Review 42:Great location in a 5 star hotel. Great rooms

Review 43:This is a very expensive hotel! You would think the staff that worked there would know when the pool closed. It closed at 8 pm. Also horrible view from our room.

Review 44:Location was very good.

Review 45:We had a bit off inconsistency in restocking our room each day ie coffee/tea , clean glasses.

Review 46:We loved the elegance and perfect location! It was a beautiful experience

Review 47:The hotel staff was superb. The concierge always had excellent recommendations for different sites to see and was spot on when setting up reservations for dinner and private guides. The onsite restaurants were wonderful.

Review 48:We had a junior suite which was rather dark. Also some minor problems that were dealt with.

Review 49:Service of staff was excellent, warm helpful and courteous. When we had a couple of problems they were handled well Out trip was made by two fantastic dining experiences Arranged by the concierge Indonesian dinner on a canal trip and lunch at the two star restaurant Concert of Netherlands symphony orchestra magical

Review 50:Price of breakfast does not correspond to the hotel menu

Review 51:Hotel is located in the very centre of town overlooking one of beautiful canals Hotel has "Two Michelin Stars" restaurant Bord´Eau, the food was just amazing, we couldn't believe how good everything looked and tasted.

Review 52:The hotel building is old. The floors in the room are wooden and dirty. The pillows were like 4 kg. each. The electricity kept malfunctioning. The breakfast cost 36 euros pp. A total ripoff.

Review 53:The hotel is close to city centre.

Review 54:The room was tiny! Due to the slanted roof, it was impossible to stand completely upright. The worse thing was the darkness. Even with all the lights turned in it was dark and depressing., and this was during sunny weather! In addition, the t.v. Was tiny and placed to the side making it practically useless. Considering the price this was definitely not 5 star quality.

Review 55:The staff were friendly, restraint was great as was the bar.

Review 56:There was nothing I could criticise to be honest; the water in the spa was quite cold but I understand this was due to a freak problem with the electricity the night before we arrived.

Review 57:the customer service was absolutely outstanding. Extremely caring and attentive. The facilities are second to none And the decor is beautiful. The restaurant on the canal was delicious and picturesque in the sunshine!

Review 58:Scrambled eggs were weird.. We typically order eggs & coffee every morning. Ordered an omelet the next 2 mornings, but omelet was salty.. Even when just ordered with mushrooms & herbs. (Thought the saltiness was from the ham or cheese the first time I ordered it) Would ask for no salt next time. Bed was hard.. Didn't sleep very well.

Review 59:Staff & location are great! Service is fast. Coffee was good.. They even got almond milk for me! Wifi worked well. Bathroom & amenities are luxurious. Yummy fruit plate :)

Review 60:Beautifully decorated rooms.. Old marble bathrooms and the most comfortable bed.. Besides that the staff is amazing and one of the best concierge is at the hotel.. Eef is well connected and arranged everything that we wanted to do in no time!

Review 61:We paid €1400 for 2 nights at the hotel, looking forward to a romantic couple of nights away in a 5 star hotel! It wasn't to be!! Safe to say, this is not a 5 star experience/property. We were put in the attic basically and although the bathroom was quite nice, nothing else about the room was. We had a view of a graffiti wall and the offices opposite out window could see directly into our room. I used the gym, which was ok. The pool is the size of a matchbox though. We were going to eat at their michelin star restaurant but decided not to as there was no atmosphere at all in the hotel. Another thing that really annoyed me was the way all the staff were sickeningly nice......it was a pushed niceness though, not genuine. Would never stay here again. Plenty of better hotels in Amsterdam!!

Review 62:Nothing really stood out to be honest

Review 63:Breakfast included in our room rate but had to pay extra for waffles or pancakes. Would have expected these to be included at such an expensive hotel.

Review 64:Excellent location,well-placed for walking to all the important venues. Comfortable and luxurious. Very helpful concierge.

Review 65:This Hotel is the School for the highest standards of making You feel welcomed in a surrounding of everything state of the art and the staff goes accordingly ,gentle and helpful always. The food is unsurpassable in quality and uniformity from breakfast to night caps

Review 66:We weren't in the system when we arrived, they did "find" us on the site we used to book but we weren't "down loaded". Had water the first night, had to request after 2 nights without. No coffee one morning and no coffee cups. Service in Resturant and bar (outside was worse) was poor. Had to find waiters for additional service as well as checks on every occasion. Signed up for a free paper and after two days of not receiving it it talked to the desk and did receive it after. We were given a mini suite with a view if the roof. I don't recall being given an option but we could have. For the money and rating we expected 4 or 5 star service, we got 2.

Review 67:They convert the restaurant and hotel rooms from eur to usd with a largetransaction fee. Our room was $700+ even though the reservation was for487eur. Amex said that they didn't add a transaction fee.

Review 68:Accommodation lasted about an hour; a bit annoying cleaning staff; everything else perfect and the view is fantastic!!!

Review 69:Everything except for some minor minuses

Review 70:Arrived on Monday night. Enjoyed dinner on the terrace. But the menu was the same for the rest of our stay. Needed a change, would have eaten there every night if the menu was different. I would try to appeal to Americans with your meals. We eat more salads you only had a cearsar salad...appeal to ladies size portions too.

Review 71:Loved the location in the center of old town, loved Freddy's Bar and staff. Well done.

Review 72:Extremely well appointed room & bath. Our room was exquisite. The hotel staff was wonderful as well as our dining experience. It was truly a treat to have stayed there! Did not experience the Spa but met the manager and given a tour of it which was most impressive and luxurious. Highly recommend!

Review 73:upgraded to a huge suite. impersonal, cold and much, much too large. Also very expensive - even though an upgrade. Disliked it and was uncomfortable in it.

Review 74:location, restaurant deck on canal

Review 75:when we arrived the marble floors of the bathroom was not cleaned. we said it to the manager. he apologized and that's all. there was no offer. we were very disappointed there was no bottles of mineral water in our room more than 500€per night. and we checked out, we were very surprised to see they have tried to put some alcohol beverage (champagne and liquor) in the bill. They apologized twice. strange isn't !

Review 76:Very friendly and helpful staff, the room was clean and tidy. Absolute value for money! Everything is easily accessible by foot. Tasty breakfast.

Review 77:location and friendly staff. Also Freddy's Bar was excellent for cocktails

Review 78:Wonderful service Friendly staff Professional Extremely clean. A top class hotel, will stay again.

Review 79:Rooms pretty small, and extremely expensive for what they offer

Review 80:Location

Review 81:not much

Review 82:the staff friendliness and help

Review 83:Breakfast at 36 Euros is too much and not worth the money, very disappointing

Review 84:Good location, friendly staff

Review 85:Location and service

Review 86:Spotless hotel. Apparently only recently upgraded throughout. First class meals, service, facilities and room

Review 87:Some confusion about credit card payment methodology

Review 88:Central Location. Tasteful room décor Excellent ensuite bathroom facility

Review 89:The staff in restaurant and in hotel bar were either just ok or poor.

Review 97:jazz band out side our widow, the staff and being so central

Review 98:Ambience , breakfast and also restaurant on the canal

Review 99:Hard beds.

Review 100:The location.

Review 101:It's unfair that for a hotel of that class you want to charge for an adaptor. that's cheeky, its a basic and a need for most I am sure.

Review 102:Location, Service

Review 104:Staff are welcoming and cheerful, food choice is superb and taisty, location couldn't be better
