Reviews for Ole Bull Hotel & Apartments
Review 1:Rooms facing Ole Bull pass were quite noisy late at due to patrons of local bars emptying on to the street all night.
Review 2:Central location. Very courteous staff. Clean room. Great breakfast.
Review 3:Very noisy early in the morning when nearby restaurants/bars were cleaning up. Public areas shabby and in need of maintenance
Review 4:Good location. Nice breakfast
Review 5:A girl called Rachel, who's rude and cold. When I asked her questions, she either did not know or told me to refer to a piece of paper she gave it to me when I checked in. Plus the apartment was under renovation.
Review 6:Location is very good. A girl called Sijie was very nice.
Review 7:Room was a bit hot, the heat was coming from the hot water system. There was lots of work going on to the front of the hotel and therefore you couldn't get cool air through the windows.
Review 8:Great location. Large rooms with small kitchen and separate lounge. Reasonably new condition.
Review 9:The only place we could access the wifi was standing in the hallway. We had kind of a grungy room. Kind of weird. We ended up moving to a different hotel that we liked much better.
Review 10:Great location!
Review 11:Great location, friendly helpful staff, great arrangement with neighbouring resteraunt for breakfast and discount meals. 12 mins walk to station, 5 mins to fish market and less to main square. Cab rank across the road.
Review 12:Room looked out on an enclosed cobblestone communal space. Also noisy with doors slamming. We were on the 6th floor but were awakened by rattling of trays of dishes down by restaurant and loud talking, early in the morning.
Review 13:Good location.
Review 14:Bad apartments location We could not sleep in the night due to sounds of songs outside No area in front of reception No freezer in the room to keep meat in
Review 15:No thing location and apartment bad
Review 16:Lift area and entrance rather down market but not a problem for us
Review 17:Spacious and comfortable. Nice sitting area separate from sleeping area. Fun location and good view.
Review 18:The room could have done with somewhere to hang wet towels, and the shower leaked, causing a bit of a flood in the bathroom. The floor then because like an ice rink!
Review 19:Fantastic location, great breakfast, and restaurant. The man who checked us in was helpful, polite and friendly. Bergen is a fabulous city and staying so central,is to be recommended.
Review 20:We had a very noisy fridge, which no-one took responsibility for, so we had two very unpleasant noisy nights. A management issue, as all staff were very "helpful" but nothing got done.
Review 21:The apartments are central, the breakfast was good, generally pleasant.
Review 22:Very noisy ventilation which did not stop at night, it was almost impossible to sleep (even with ear plugs) On the 4th floor and above, the corridors leading to the rooms are outside and smelly
Review 23:At the beginning the room was very clean. But for the following days, it didn't continue the same way.The house keeping doesn't seem to be very through.
Review 24:Location was very good. So was the self-catering option.
Review 25:The beds were tiny and not really very comfortable. Luckily two of us were sharing a bigger apartment so one of us could sleep on the sofa bed in the sitting room. Had the beds been better, this apt would have received a much higher rating but sleep is important!
Review 26:Very central location - perfect for all our sightseeing activities, shopping, and close to all transport links e.g. light rail, buses, etc. Clothes washing facilities much appreciated.
Review 27:Breakfast is too simple. Apparently the hotel is under staffing. When there is big group of people checking in, the reception is too busy to provide help to guest. We noticed that there are quite a number of Chinese guest staying in the hotel, but there is no Chinese introduction on hotel facility.
Review 28:Location is very good, it is at the center of railway station, port, and the wooden house. Kichen is good, and the washing machine is a good surprise.
Review 29:We had to ask for the dishwasher but otherwisewe had a good time.
Review 30:Very good location and walking distances to train station and near to the Airport bus bustop. Room was clean and kitchen facilities were decent. Breakfast was simple but good.
Review 31:The humming noise coming from the extractor over the kitchen. We had to place a stool and 2 cushions under it just to sleep. The blue flashing wifi thing on the wall. Lit up the room at night. Breakfast at 6.30am one morning and no hot food. The next morning at 8am hit food was ready. Not a nice shower.
Review 32:Location. Size of the room.
Review 33:It's really close to main attractions and walking distance to train station. Large rooms with a kitchen is great because eating outside is expensive in Bergen.
Review 34:Slightly noisy in the evenings, but this finished at a reasonable time. No towel rail in the bathroom (mildly inconvenient).
Review 35:Bright, attractive decoration, good layout, breakfast in a very nearby restaurant, clean, good location, very useful self-catering facilities.
Review 36:Check-in need too much of time, When we arrive at breakfast 30mins after the opening time there is still no hot foods are served, so if plan to go out early in the morning might not have a hood breakfast.
Review 37:The kitchen, dishwasher, spacial, location.
Review 38:The breakfast was poor and the same everyday.
Review 39:Good location in the centre of town 10 minutes by foot from train station. The kitchen so that you can cook by yourself. Big room.
Review 40:Approach with the mindset that you are renting an apartment rather than staying in a hotel and you won't be disappointed by the lack of public space or reception facilities or the infrequency of cleaning (weekly). Slight niggles: no plugs in either bathroom washbasin or kitchen sink, no cleaning materials to wipe surfaces or clean up spills, bedside tables had not been dusted for at least 3 weeks prior to entry and the breakfast was a little meagre and not replenished. That said, the space provided for the price in that location made it excellent value for money.
Review 41:The location was superb: within excellent walking distance of all central sights, plenty of cafes and bars close by and close to airport bus stop and light railway. The apartment size made it excellent value for families or small groups or those seeking more comfort and space than the average hotel room. Self-catering facilities did help to keep incidental costs down given the high cost of eating out in Norway.
Review 42:Response to requests depended on which staff member was on duty. Accommodation is not as pictured in photos. It is tired and requires some maintenance and fresh painting
Review 43:Quiet and central to city
Review 44:I didn't like the fact we could hear the club downstairs late at night. We went to breakfast about 40 minutes before they stopped serving and not much was left and we were told there wouldn't be any more made.
Review 45:The location couldn't have been better for the price we paid. The apartment itself was nice.
Review 46:Because the kitchen was attached to the bedroom, there was noise from the fridge and exhaust fan. Not a major issue, just bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.
Review 47:Loved the space, having a living room and kitchen is fantastic for the price in Europe. There are free laundry facilities, which is also a bonus, and the included breakfast in the hotel next door was really nice. The location was brilliant- in a pedestrian area, 5 minutes from the water and from the station. Perfect for exploring Bergen.
Review 48:Breakfast timings should be longer. From 0730 to 1030 hrs everyday.
Review 49:The location is excellent. Very close to all services and places of interest. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Review 50:nice spacious appmt , nice view, good breakfast , they change towels every other day , it would be good if rubbish can be emptied everyday too . location excellent
Review 51:The pillows are too soft. Two would be better. And the bedside lights... and the bedside are realy very small! !!
Review 52:The few, the location, friendly staff
Review 53:Bed was rather small and a bit hard.
Review 54:The facilities are great. Room is spacious. Excellent location. Very near the railway station. Helpful staff. Love the place!
Review 55:Location was very good; close to the sea-side, train station and airport bus. We had a room on the front side with a pleasant view. Breakfast was good.
Review 56:Les couloirs sont vétustes et très défraîchis.
Review 57:Appart hôtel central, proche de tout à pied. Solution la moins chère. Large espace salon et cuisine. Équipement basique mais correct. Wifi parfait. Petit déjeuner moyen mais correct.
Review 58:Breakfast rather boring for a Norwegian breakfast: artificial scrambled eggs, no croissants or Danish, no omelett, no bacon.
Review 59:The location, the spacy appartment and the well equiped kitchen
Review 60:Tudo maravilhoso. Obrigada, Raquel.
Review 61:1. Based on the condition of the room we stayed (Room 510), the glass sliding door of the shower room needs some maintenance. 2. Our room faces the backyard, no views at all. We heard some noise of collecting rubbish from the ground floor in the early morning.
Review 62:It is great to have a well-equipped kitchen to make meals as the living standard of Bergen is so high.
Review 63:Dont like -frayed rooms and floor. Dirty kitchen, espessially near kitchen-range (oily), so smelly. I paid throw booking.com as unrefundable rate. During check in manager said its ok with payment. During check out they said - there was no info about my payment and he didnt want to solve the problem on the spot- for example, call to booking.com, he asked me to wrote down my credit card number(!).
Review 64:Good location, good breakfast. There is the loundry on the 3d floor and kitchen in the room.
Review 65:The apartment was in the back side on the building, with access through a balcony hall. The view was a construction site, with a lot of noise during working hours.
Review 66:Spacey interior
Review 67:The nightclub downstairs is a busy place for many nights a week in summer. The adjacent building under renovation generates some noise currently.
Review 68:The 4th floor front facing apartment was fine for our six days. Breakfast was very good with a variety of hot and cold dishes every day.
Review 69:It would have been nice to have a lobby as well as a better breakfast. Limited options for vegetarians and the meat options were only okay, definitely not quality but got the job done.
Review 70:The size of the room (deluxe twin) was great as well as the location. The wifi worked well too.
Review 71:The bad quality bed is old enough! The hair dryer mount on the wall, but there is no electricity for it. which is renovation or construction problem!. removable one will be easier. First day, we were late for breakfast they close at 9::30. The day we leave is Sunday, breakfast only start at 8:00. but we leave at 7:30am.
Review 72:It s big, i like the floor heater, and the dish washer ! The LOCATION is GOOD! Our room is quiet.
Review 73:They ran out of eggs on our last breakfast.
Review 74:The apartments are clean and comfortable with kitchen facilities and a little lounge area. The location is terrific with both the beautiful Bergen wharf and transport connections (railway and bus stations) only a few minutes walk. The breakfast was fresh and adequate. Many restaurants and cafe bars are in the area for excellent dinning variety. Best of all you have access to washing and drying machines.
Review 75:Had to walk outside to the room and that just seemed a bit dodgy. The doors don't auto lock so make sure you remember to lock up!
Review 76:Smack in the middle of town, really convenient, airport shuttle and train station are close by. Continental breakfast was quite good if you know how to eat it Norwegian style.
Review 77:Beds were not very comfy
Review 78:The apartment we were staying in was lovely, although at the time work being carried out on a nearby building was slightly noisy. But we never heard anyone in neighboring rooms and breakfast was great!
Review 79:Our bathroom was too small. Basic breakfast The personel was not rude or anything but i've seen better.
Review 80:Location is definitely the big plus for this hotel. It is actually more like an apartment with a small open kitchen. Nice, soft bed.
Review 81:The quality of the mattress is very low... The bed is beyond soft, it just gives in to even the lightest weight.
Review 82:The location is very convenient, staff is helpful and friendly, apartment was big and clean, with fully equipped kitchen. Free Wi-fi is available, it's not "wired" as stated in the description.
Review 83:The breakfasts were of really poor quality and there was not enough. The staff were morose or rude, never smiled. The communal areas were dirty.
Review 84:The beds were very comfortable and the apartments were a good size and bathroom had a heated floor. Good shower. Rooms clean.
Review 85:Superb location, close to everywhere. Very helpful Staff. Studio flat with all facilities you need during a holiday - TV, free WiFi, bathroom with hair dryer, fully equipment kitchen including fridge, hob, microwave, dishwasher. Good breakfast served in just next door restaurant.
Review 86:the room is quite small, and the light is toooooo dark and gloomy. if it can provide the brighter light, it might be great.
Review 87:very nice breakfast, especially in expensive Norway. location is not bad.
Review 88:The only drawback was that our room was at the back, but once we got used to the noise of the big air conditioning unit outside in the courtyard, and the flashing of the Internet hub in our room, it was fine.
Review 89:It was ideally located, clean, warm, comfortable and having the kitchenette with a fridge was great as we could eat in some meals, therefore saving some money. Having a dishwasher was great.
Review 90:we are used to hostelling and its a bit of shame when there is no common area to meet people.
Review 91:its a great place to stay, like having your own apartment right in the city... breakfast is amazing!
Review 92:When they say the beds are 75cm wide, they sure are... very narrow and test your ability to 'roll over'. The bedroom area is actually very cramped, but if you're tired, no problems.
Review 93:The Hotel was a bit challenging to find as there was quite a bit of scaffolding on a next door building which shielded the entrance from being easily seen. But the Hotel is in an excellent location, has a very European feel with minimal façade and lots gong on behind the scenes, and the rooms are good.
Review 94:Small and unusual-shaped shower box. Door was not sliding properly and was getting stuck before closing.
Review 95:Rooms with kitchen facilities Good location, easy to walk out dowtown Bergen
Review 96:Breakfast. I wouldn't even it call it that. Don't think that the breakfast will cover you - it won't. Had we known we would have bought and cooked our own.
Review 97:Kitchen was fantastic. So was the heated floor in the bathroom. Close to walk everywhere.
Review 98:The first thing that hits you is the smell. I played 6000 NOK for a penthouse apartment for the final 2 nights of the honeymoon and the amazing trip we had on the cruse was all forgotten in seconds. Long story short we tryed 4 different apartments and the bathrooms all smelled like something had died in there. The heaters didn't work in 1 of the ap Artments. I got a refund for the second night and left as soon as we could and went to the buetifull scandic òrnen for half the price!!!
Review 99:Nothing
Review 100:The bed was twin, in between sleep or with a simple toss and turn it used to go apart( very light)
Review 101:Very helpful staff and excellent location. Specially my room overlooked the street and had an excellent view :)
Review 102:No clear direction or signage to follow from the train station. The hotel/apartement was under some construction so the entrance was not so visible from the street. But once inside ...will be a different experience.
Review 103:Good location - only 10 minutes walk from railway station. Easy access to tourist sites. Its in the center of the city. Room is neat and clean. Surely will come back if another chance allowes.
Review 104:- We were informed by the reception, that the cleaning person is not supposed to clean the rooms / sweep the floor (rooms don't have a carpet), since it is considered to be an apartment. His exact words were "He only empties the baskets, and makes the beds". I have the opinion that if the customer is supposed to clean himself, he should have been informed prior the reservation, and there should have been cleaning materials in the room. There weren't. The room was not clean after the second day. - The personnel at the reception didn't have a lot of experience. Upon my departure, they told me that they didn't know if I have already payed the whole cost (which was the case), but instead they asked me to pay an additional amount. I had to show them proof of what I had payed already, but still they kept my email address "just in case". - There was a lot of construstion work being done next door. Noisy mornings.
Review 105:- The location was excellent. Very close to the bus station and to Bryggen. Ofcourse, many other hotels have an equally great location. - The room was big. In our room there was a couch which could be turned into a double bed. This was very convenient, since the existing single beds are certainly not wide. - Breakfast was not great, but it was certainly good. - "Price vs Location" rate is good.
Review 106:Large, quiet, comfortable room. Kitchen facilities mean you can save a lot of money not eating out in (very) expensive Bergen. Just 2 minutes walk from airport bus stop. Free WiFi.
Review 107:Seems like maintenance of the appartment's furnishings were taken for granted, e.g., missing light bulb in night desk by the bed and the microwave was strategically placed in the corner of kitchen counter to prevent it from tilting due to a missing leg.
Review 108:Location is ideal. It is walking distance to Bryggen (UNESCO heritage site) in the port area and the commercial center. Marius, one of the front desk staff was extremely helpful.
Review 109:We found it a little difficult to spot the hotel entrance, as it is set back slightly from the restaurant which one approaches first from the public transport.
Review 110:Ole Bulls was the perfect solution for a short stay in Bergen. It is in a nice location near the Flybussen bus stop and about 10 mins from the railway station. The breakfast was excellent and available from 06.30, a great help for an early departure.
Review 111:Under renovation at the time and quite an old/tired apartment.
Review 112:Location Close parking (not included) Decent breakfast Kitchen to cook in if required Good value for money
Review 113:On the firta floor of the hotel there is a club so if you are staying on the seind floor youvan hear the music. Also the beds are single beds put next to each other to make a "double" bed, which is not ideal nor comfortable.
Review 114:The hotel is centrally located. The staff is helpful. The rooms are clean, they gave a spacious bathroom, kitchen with all appliances and utensils and a small living room. There is also wi-fi that actually connects when you are using it in the room. The breakfast was o high quality, good variety and tasteful.
Review 115:No shower gel in the bath tube. You can hear music on the weekend from the club next door, but it didn't bother to sleep.
Review 116:The location is perfect, it is in the city center, close to bus stops. The room was with a kitchen and a small seating room. The beds were a little bit small but comfortable. Fast wifi.
Review 117:Reception - on check in. As we arrived a little later in the day (although I wouldn't consider 10pm unreasonably late) the front door was locked we had to phone in order for someone to give us access - even though I'd confirmed an arrival time. Our call went to answerphone - although after a short wait someone did arrive to check us in - this was more than a little worrying as we didn't know what was going on. The guy who checked us in was also a very unwelcoming - perhaps we caught him on an off night!
Review 118:Fantastic location, added bonus having the kitchen facility to help keep costs down when staying in this expensive city location. Great (inclusive) breakfast buffet next door - hardly have to leave the building in order to access the restaurant for breakfast - good selection - friendly and welcoming staff.
Review 119:Very noisy, so much so we had to complain at reception. Banging started at 7am each morning due to construction work going on next door. As we were staying a week it got a bit tiresome.
Review 120:Convenient situation. Laundry room with very helpful staff. Improved since our last visit.
Review 121:Staff were nice but no able to add any assistance to local activities or events that enrich our stay.
Review 122:Great location, easy to manipulate our way around the city.
Review 123:Building work next to apartment. Only notified of this major work upon arrival. The size of the project would indicate that this was planned at least year ago. Seems dishonest that this info. was not online when booking. We were awoken at 7am, and the apartment was unusable for most of the day because of the noise. Over 5 days this was unacceptable and a reduced rate should have been offered. Some of the front of house staff were rather short on customer skills and looked positively bored!
Review 124:Suite on the whole good, and gives flexibility. Good kitchen facilities The location is excellent being within walking distance to all of central Bergen, and road, rail and ferry travel.
Review 125:bathroom is small and the bathing area is kind of strange with a heavy plastic curtain
Review 126:InCity has a central location in Bergen within walking distance of all attractions. We had a spacious room with a good view, a well equipped kitchen and also a cot for our 8 month old child. We had to leave early morning before breakfast and InCity arranged to pack a sandwich and apple for us.
Review 127:. Hotel next door being renovated. Drilling & horrendous noise from 8 am till 5pm. Visited late August & it looks as though the disturbance will continue for quite some time.
Review 128:Excellent location, good breakfast. Clean & well maintained pity about the noise!!!!!
Review 129:No air conditioning but we knew this when booking Noise from next door construction but we were prewarned Thin mattress topper
Review 130:Location Staff helpfulness and friendliness Breakfast Fan
Review 131:Happened to be @ the hotel while a construction was going on next building. The construction noise traveled too well that I felt like drilling was right below my room. Also it starts at 7am.
Review 132:The bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress topper was too thin and I had to request a new one TV channels were limited to 4, signal not very good Needs a toaster for breakfast and English breakfast tea!
Review 133:Location Excellent sofa/dining area Quiet even though in city centre Very easy to find from train station Staff were quite chatty and tried to help with anything we asked of them
Review 134:the errection of a crane outside our bedroom window the whole of the night we were there
Review 135:the central location the roomy family apartment the cleanliness and modernity the facilities the fabulous breakfast
Review 136:The windows only opened 3-4" at the top, the weather was very hot, sun on windows most of day. Room was unbearably hot. Unable to cook, due to the heat, in the room. Noise at night, was bad, due to taxi rack, outside hotel - so all the drunks, made they way there! Breakfast room was very odd - in a dark night club like, venue.
Review 137:Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice. location was good (except for late night noise) at front of hotel.
Review 138:The inside rooms of the building turn to a very dirty yard, a lot of noise of workmanship during our time there.
Review 139:Perfect location in the center, large rooms, comfortable large shower room, nice breakfast, very good wifi sugnal, clean, nice small kitchen in the room.
Review 140:No air con & no fan available No towel rails in bathroom Intercom doesn't work so unable to contact reception desk from room Hot water heater in a dangerous position leading to head bumps
Review 141:Washing machine and dryer available free Good position to see places of interest Fairly good position in relation to train station Good position in relation to Flybus from airport
