Reviews for Playa Grande Resort

Review 1:Can't go in water at beach Fridge noisy in room and hardly kept food cool!

Review 2:Location-close to town Great pools Rooms are beautiful, as is the view

Review 3:I didn't like that they had to switch me rooms in the middle of my vacation for the money I paid it was a lot of money I paid for them to do that, someone should at least said something about it before I reserve the room

Review 4:The add-on charges seemed high and/or unnecessary. Every restaurant and bar in town offers free Wi-Fi, seems Playa Grande should at a minimum provide this in their eating areas. It was quite a walk if you wanted to leave the property, and they did not offer a shuttle (free or otherwise). If they want it to truly be "all-inclusive" with no need to leave the property, then more dining choices, nightlife, etc. needs to be available.

Review 5:Suite was very nice--had all the amenities needed for a week's stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, pleasant and professional. We took advantage of the spa and had a good experience. The property was clean everywhere.

Review 6:I made this reservation in April 2015 for a 2-night stay in December 2015. I specifically asked for a room with an ocean view but alas was not given one, instead, I had a view of the pool full of screaming kids and pool music all day long. I was moved to another room, with pretty much the same view. And then the manager on duty told me I should have made the reservation more time in advance???!!! I was charged $11 for using the gym. I will not stay here again.

Review 7:Nice beach in front of the hotel for a morning walk.

Review 8:The food at them main restaurant for lunch and dinner was not good. I had to send meat back 3 times to be cooked correctly and it still was not. This happened on multiple occasions.

Review 9:The property was very nice and the pool facilities were great.

Review 10:The Ridge is the most confusing Hotel I've ever stayed at, and they don't even try to explain the lay out and how it works. Everyday there I had to journey down to the lobby to get my front door keys-magnetized . Never once did anyone even say"'Sorry".

Review 11:Great view. Beautiful building.

Review 12:Was highly upset we could not have our friends that were staying at the SISTER resort come over.

Review 13:The resort was gorgeous, clean and the food was delicious.

Review 14:We had a couple of issues but Ana was fantastic in how she dealt with them.

Review 15:The staff team make the resort, they were excellent form the duty manager we encountered, Ana, to the chambermaids who reassembled our room each day after the disorder of three small children! The pool staff, the restaurant staff, the ents staff, great....

Review 16:Pool bar closes at 6:00, lobby bar closes at 11:00 p.m., and on-site food options are limited.

Review 17:Beautiful outdoor landscaping, very pleasant and helpful staff. Lovely adult pool, wonderful view from the room patio of the ocean.

Review 18:Two "blips": 1. We requested that the charges be separated forthe two sets of guests in the condo (us and friends who came with us) asthe charges were made. The charges were not separated; now we are havingto manually track receipts with the bill. 2) Not all thewashers/dryers in the guest laundromat worked, and there weremultiple guests waiting to use the ones that were functional.

Review 19:We've been owners for several years and love Playa Grande. Had theopportunity to visit many other Cabo properties/timeshares, andPlaya Grande is our favorite of all. Stunning reception lobby, immaculate grounds, beautifully designed units, competent & friendlystaff (from reception to housekeeping to bell staff). We don't haveeveryone's name, but would like to recognize Rocio in reception,Elvira in housekeeping, and Ivan & Samuel on bell staff. A pleasure!

Review 20:They charge you a top dollar for everything (internet, crib, etc) andthey forced you to buy their time share. Even when the area has a niceview where they are located, you can not swim on the beach, all the timeis a red flag so the area is not good to swim. It's not worth themoney than I paid for this hotel, I stayed in better hotels withbeautiful natural view on another areas like la paz or loreto

Review 21:The facilities, the hotel has a nice pools areas, and pools are ona nice view

Review 22:I didn't like the staff that chased us down trying to get us to see a sales presentation. It was rude and over aggressive for people that want to be on vacation. This happen more than once. Cabo has so much high pressure sales tactics but I didn't expect that it the confines of where I choose to stay.

Review 23:We loved the location but parts of the closed

Review 24:They are finishing a new restaurant in the middle of the property, our room looks directly over it - so we get to listen to hammering and tile saws most of the day each day...but we do have an ocean view ;-) The property was nearly empty when we arrived and we asked for a different room, but were told none were available, so that was very disappointing. We are also paying $50 a week for internet connection but cannot get access in our room - only from the balcony and only for 2 devices. Great place to disconnect - but would be nice to be able to get online when we need to The all inclusive is $89 a day and kids over 12 are considered adults so we opted out and are very glad we did. The beach is beautiful but you can't swim here - that didn't bother us - perfect for sitting and enjoying the Sea of Cortez without a lot of people...

Review 25:The resort is nice, the staff is helpful and friendly, and its and not a huge mega resort. There's a full kitchen & maid service each day, so we did a big grocery shop the second day and are enjoying eating on our terraza. The kids are enjoying the pools, and it looks like every room on at least the 2nd floor has an ocean view The town is within walking distance, and taxis to everything are about $10 Although we opted out of the all-inclusive package - we bought into the Mexican Fiesta last night which was a lot of fun

Review 26:The rooms are extremely over priced and the property is still under construction which makes it difficult to enjoy as of June 2015.

Review 27:The Location is on the Pacific Beach just north of Land's End which is an awsome location.

Review 28:Loved the pools, restaurants, the amazing view from our large balcony, the helpfulness of the staff and how peaceful and relaxing the resort is even with many guests.

Review 29:The bedding was not the best as mentioned. Also we booked this location as it was on the beach. However when we arrived we were told that the beach was too dangerous and made to sign a disclaimer to say we would not swim in the beach. We were scammed at the airport by people we were told were arranging our hotel transport and then spent more money on international calls to get our money back. We got no help from anyone and list our dough!!! DO NOT get scammed at the airport!!

Review 30:I liked the resort. Gorgeous! Rooms were comfy. We did have issues with bedding for our kids. We had booked 2 double beds but one was a fold out foam bed and VERY hard and uncomfy! Yet..there were 2 bathrooms..1 bedroom...?

Review 31:The private beach was amazing but I wish I knew beforehand that due to very rough surf, you are unable to go into the ocean at all times. But there were other public beaches (not as nice) where you could swim.

Review 32:The views of the resort are gorgeous! 3 separate pools where the staff caters to your every need.

Review 33:Staff demanded and I mean demanded full payment by calling our room thenight before check out for a remaining $300 which was already on acredit card hold to come down and sign it. We already paid our room inadvance when checked in at $1699. And they were worried about $300? Nicehotel however the aggressive demand on payment before our check out willhave us staying somewhere else next time. Not enough bar opportunitiesand not enough restaurants.

Review 34:Clean rooms great air conditioner

Review 35:Pretty spendy. Also, we know it's not your fault but we spent more then an hour in Customs. Too much. Someone has to fix that or folks will go elsewhere.

Review 36:Lovely views and accomodations.

Review 37:This property is a time share, so they try and sell you on this. Pricey food and everything comes with a cost! We did not get the ocean view that we booked!

Review 38:Love the property and location for a young family. We were away from the spring break craziness, but in walking distance to town. Lovely property.

Review 39:No, we did not have a bad experience. The drinks were expensive. And you could hear the music from the marina area all night long. We needed to go to a desk to get the cards for the pool towels, of course they tried a sales pitch for their time share facilities. But as soon as we said we lived in Europe that stopped. We never got bothered again.

Review 40:We were there for a wedding. The location was excellent. Close to town and the marina, but yet with a wonderful beach. Our suite was very generous. Aside from the valet parking, there was self parking. People were very friendly, the staff recognized us and sometimes even had time for a short chat. Maybe it helped that we spoke Spanish.

Review 41:Can't swim on the beach, however you can easily walk to a small beach on the marina side

Review 42:Location is great, easy access to marina and town. Walking distance to good restaurants.

Review 43:Aside from the fact that the drinks served by the pool have "zero" alcohol in them - everything was perfect!

Review 44:Playa Grande was outstanding - the view from our room included the ocean and a vista of the pools - I enjoyed just sitting on our balcony, watching it all. It was also a very easy walk to the marina and downtown Cabo. I liked the fact that they provided free parking too!

Review 45:Some of their beautiful Palm trees were damaged in the hurricane but are growing back nicely. Also their poolside restaurant was damaged in the hurricane but they are in the process of rebuilding it.

Review 46:We like to walk instead of having to take taxis everywhere and Playa Grande has the best location for this. The resort is always spotless and beautiful. The staff couldn't be friendlier. We have been staying here for nine years now.

Review 47:We booked a deluxe junior suite through Booking.com that advertised "sweeping views of the ocean". Guy at check-in said we would not have an ocean view and that we should have not booked through Booking.com! After much argument (and a different agent) we were given a beautiful room on the 5th floor with "sweeping views of the ocean".

Review 48:Beautiful resort with friendly staff.

Review 49:Charge for wifi and business center shouldn't exist or be cheaper. At check in they should tell you shuttle times best for your departure

Review 50:Location and staff were amazing. Taxi availability was great

Review 51:I contacted you and the resort with my complaints about not being able to have the room we ordered...I contacted Solamar's Corporate office, with a conversation that ended with no call back. Eager to take my money and blow up my email...not eager to follow up.

Review 52:Felt like Spring Break at the pool. If I wanted to relax, this is not where I'd return. Staff promised late check out and then threatened to charge me and I had to threaten back a dispute of the charges. Poor customer service!!!

Review 53:Nice location, large, clean rooms.

Review 54:The prices for food and drinks within the resort are ridiculous, but being so close to the harbour, you can easily walk down and find better prices and food. They advertised that there is a waterside but that is for Members of the time share that they leave out. My daughter was a bit disappointed in this but everything else made up for it.

Review 55:Close to the harbour. Participated in baby turtle release. The pool is great even thought they are continuing construction after the hurricane. The fitness facility is great. Overall we really enjoyed our time there.

Review 56:The WIFI was horrible. Way too slow. Think 1980s dial-up speeds. Of course, this may be a major or minor or non-issue to you depending on your circumstances. For us - I unfortunately had some unavoidable work that I had to do remotely; ordinarily, it wouldn't take too much time at home. But the WIFI was so super slow that it was nearly impossible to accomplish my tasks. Ended up taking WAY more time than I had intended, and ate into our vacation.

Review 57:My wife and I came down for a 3-4 day getaway from L.A. and had a fantastic time. Got the all-inclusive. Great deal. Amazing food (best Mexican food I've ever had). Amazing people (everyone was so incredibly friendly and happy to help). Amazing entertainment (the Fiesta and beach party were something to be remembered). Amazing location, room, view, etc. Would definitely come again!

Review 58:Insecure debit card transaction (they manually copied the security code from the back of my card) The ocean is too dangerous to swim on that part of the coast Non-included taxes were also a sour surprise

Review 59:The view from our terrace

Review 60:Charging customer premium price to sit by the pool and listen to tilecutters and drills all day long until evening. Very noisy andannoying.Dust all over the place due to work. 2 pools operational on atotal of 5. No compensation/commercial gesture what so ever fromManagement. Price of food (poor) and drinks (more expensive than inus)!!! Management is too interested in profit putting staff andcustumers under pression

Review 61:The kindness of the staff although very "interested" inrecieving a tip . The infinity pool.

Review 62:The all inclusive has a minimum of three days. It's a disadvantage for those only visiting a couple of days. Also, the Cafe bar outside the lobby and room service should be included in the price. Cleanliness: We appreciated the constant cleaning on the grounds. However, the housekeeping did a poor job cleaning up our room. Dishes didn't get removed, our bathroom was not swept or mopped.

Review 63:Customer service Leonardo at the Lobby Bar was excellent.

Review 64:Can't use beach

Review 65:Close to downtown

Review 66:Should add another day of beach activities, ,and the coffee shop needs 2 employees working ,it's extremely slow

Review 67:Entertainment staff

Review 68:Limited breakfast options.

Review 69:Very clean. Staff really nice. Great location

Review 70:Alcoholic beverages prices a little bit higher than usual.

Review 71:Location !

Review 72:Hot tub and pool area closed to early. Foldout bed could have been more comfortable

Review 73:Great location to walk to everything

Review 74:Too much noise from entertaining crowed

Review 75:Restaurant offerings are somewhat limited

Review 76:Had to pay extra to use the gym.

Review 77:The staff and hotel were brilliant, great views and lovely rooms.

Review 78:Location. Quality of the resort. Staff were brilliant.

Review 79:August is very humid so I need to remember to go a different time

Review 80:Quiet beach with few people. Baby turtles in the giant koi pond

Review 81:Wifi service was iffy at best...

Review 82:Wonderful views of ocean and pretty grounds...

Review 83:Nothing to do in the resort besides going to the pool. Entire place is dead quiet after 8pm.

Review 84:Well maintained resort

Review 85:I got bed mite bites from the bed all over my neck, back and mid stomach..

Review 86:More night entertainment would be good .

Review 87:Enjoyed the swimming pools and the Mexican party. Also , the location of my room with a beautiful view.

Review 88:Super expensive wifi that doesn't work. Place overpriced for 3 young people. I travel a lot and this is one of my worst experiences in hotels

Review 89:...

Review 90:Rules, lousy margarita's, room location

Review 91:Location

Review 92:It is a little bit expensive.

Review 93:Excelent place to relax and have fun, best vacation of my life.

Review 94:The one bedroom luxury suite was wonderful 5th floor. Happy hour drinks at the pool and the gift/grocery shop too.

Review 95:Internet problems Sales pithes

Review 96:Poor wifi connection

Review 97:Great location and beautiful resort/view.

Review 98:Safa bed is uncomfortable, so as the extra small bed. Wifi is slow。very slow. And Not too much choice of food.

Review 99:Location , hotel decorations . Service.

Review 100:Super slow wifi Very loud in main pool area more restaurant is needed

Review 101:Quick check in and out Sky infinity pool and water slide Mini Golf

Review 102:Restaurant food sucked ! We had a 'fried burrito' with french fries? Give me a break ..

Review 103:Staff was friendly - tried hard

Review 104:Food and drinks are rather pricey considering how much we were paying for rooms.

Review 105:Location, cleanliness, and stuff were terrific.

Review 106:Every single staff member we encountered was kind, helpful and friendly

Review 107:Would have liked to have access to a swim-able beach, but pool made up for it.

Review 108:Loved the Ridge. Beautiful balcony view, quite with wonderful pool. Enjoyed the spa services while there also. Everyone went out of their way and it was a very relaxing, enjoyable trip.

Review 109:The wait time to get food at the restaurants took longer than usual. We often had to ask if our food was coming. The food was usually very good, but some of the items were just ok. For example the hawaiin pizza I ordered was had way too much cheese on it and was a little cold when it arrived. I didn't enjoy it that much.

Review 110:The resort had a very luxurious feel when you first walk in and the rooms are very nice and bed was comfortable.

Review 111:Not being able to swim in the ocean. Desk staff was adequate, however not super friendly.

Review 112:Loved the facilities. Bell staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 113:Worked out in the weight room every morning. The girl at the desk was VERY unfriendly. Could use larger weight room. Could not swim at beach. DO NOT like hard sell.

Review 114:Loved our room. Convenient to the rest of the hotel. Loved all the pools, loved the friendliness of all employees except one. Convenient to Marina. I would stay here again. The Spa was wonderful as well.

Review 115:The time share personnel (disguised as welcome/hospitality crew)pretty much dominate the entrance when you walk into the reception .It was rather annoying to have to talk to them after a long flight andyour room is not ready; not even for the free drink coupon. Hotelshould highly reconsider relocating time share personnel elsewhere onthe premises.

Review 116:The hotel's estate was very impressive and lived up to it's grand name.

Review 117:Cost of Internet was ridiculous given the connectivity was poor. They need to move into the modern age. Cost of goods in convenience store was excessive.

Review 118:Awesome location in proximity to everything. Pool and patio facilities were beautiful.

Review 119:1. We did not like time share people trying to taking our time about buying their timeshare and attending one of their meetings - not going to happen there.2. The first room we entered was not cleaned yet 3. The have an offer for their resturants at "x" amount of dollars, but it is a three night minimum - we would not obligate to 3 nights becuase who wants to eat at the hotel only? We wanted to taste the city too, so their offer was worthless to us and I'm positive they would have more purchases if the minimum were less than 3 days. 4. We were not allowed to even touch the water at the beach...we were only allowed to be at the pool and we have a pool at home; major disappointment. 5. Not many events on the property at a given time. There 5 star rating is different from other 5 star hotels I've stayed at....I was not dreading coming home as usual.

Review 120:It was quiet in the room

Review 121:Extra charge for wifi expensive room service and pool menu-everything ischarged to your room so beware or you will get a surprise on checkout.Buffet wasn't very good and expensive! 3Rd room floors have palm treesin front that block ocean view which is the room I got after asking forocean view on booking

Review 122:10 min walk to marina and local restaurants. Beautiful resort, great staff, very clean. Liked having a kitchen and the small minimart on site.

Review 123:There was a party in the room next door, very loud, until at least midnight. Hard to sleep that night.

Review 124:Internet was most of the time down - very annoying ...

Review 125:Location, architecture, view. Some spectacular areas (higher pools with pool bar)

Review 126:Friendly staff, rooms very clean, location location location

Review 127:I loved everything of Playa Grande great location.

Review 128:We found the Pacific v Medrano Beach side a bit quiet. Taxis made it easy to get into town, however.

Review 129:Fabulous rooms, solid food service, great pools

Review 130:weather at this time of the year,

Review 131:great experience great staff, wonderful restaurants. close to Marina

Review 132:Parasitic relationship with marketing and outside vendors
