Reviews for Adelas Hostal

Review 1:The restaurant running by the same hostal is very overpriced. The location is right next to the train station and therefore it is VERY loud.

Review 2:The owner was kind. The room was clean and spacious.

Review 3:Maybe a little noicy when the local trains stoppad or paased by. But no disturbaces night time. So all very OK.

Review 4:Perfect location close to the railway station and buses to Machu Pichu. Nice meals and friendly personnel.

Review 5:Right next to the train tracks and when a train comes in,it is really really loud! If the window is open it will also let in a sizable cloud of black diesel exhaust

Review 6:Very friendly staff

Review 7:A few too many mosquitos around, and the window was open when we arrived. Reception area really noisy and they don't much care about keeping the noise down. For one night, it's ok, just don't expect too much sleep.

Review 8:Decent price, clean, good location for bus tickets and restaurants. Excellent Machu Picchu launch point. The train track runs just outside the hotel and is loud! so bring earplugs - or choose a room on the rivers side.

Review 9:Close to station, beside river with view of valley. Ideal for organizing bus and tickets to Machu Picchu. They will pack a good breakfast for you if you want to catch 5.30am bus to get to the ruins for sunrise. Worth it. There is a great pizza place in centre of Aguas Calientes too.

Review 10:room was small but we had a triple room. its good enough given that we only spent a night. the price was a bit high for what we got but I think all agua calientes accommodation is over priced

Review 11:location is awesome - you hop off the train and the entrance is right on the train platform. super convenient. everything was very clean and comfortable. its not a fancy place - just simple and enough to lay your head for the night.

Review 12:The staff clearly didn't like us. They also operate a restaurant. They didn't know where our bags were (we had dropped them off in the early morning before the room was ready) but then remembered that they had already loaded them in our room-- they seemed annoyed that we briefly freaked out when they repeatedly couldn't find our bags in storage. The "hot" water just came out in a dribble and was cold. Wifi was not strong in our room.

Review 13:This hotel is really easy to get to from the train station-- go through the little market area and down the stairs. You're there! We had an awesome view of the river from our room. Facilities were mediocre at best, but it felt very fair for the price.

Review 14:The river was really too noisy. Bathroom water was either hot or cold, could not stay at warm temperature. Lots of insects' dead bodies in the notice attached to the door. Not a comfortable place to prepare ourselves for the tough trip to Machu Picchu.

Review 15:Staff was trying to help with hot shower, and did prepare some breakfast for our early trip the following morning. Really value-for-money.

Review 16:The wifi is poor inside room.

Review 17:Location is excellent, very very close to the bus station to Machu Pichu and railway station. The wifi works well out of the room. Staff are nice.

Review 18:We stayed 2 nights and were happy with our choice. The WIFI was good and we had a comfortable room with a good hot shower. The proximity to the train didn't bother us at all.

Review 19:- nothing

Review 20:- location! I thought it's near the train station but the hotel is right NEXT to the train rail and 3 minutes walk to the train station. It is ONE MINUTE walk to the bus station to MachuPicchu - breakfast! The breakfast was plenty. I had all tea, coffee, and fresh orange juice. A choice of egg, fried or scambled, freshly cooked. And bananas which I took with me to MachuPicchu. (Food is not allowed inside the site though)

Review 21:This hostel is amazing! location is just perfect, rooms are big and view on the river is amazing. Everything is very clean, the breakfest is also very good. I was traveling with my mom. The lady on reception did't give us to pay our last bill on the last day(lunch and coffex2) she also give us a little gifts for memories on Aguas C. She was very polite and helpful. We just love our stay in Adelas hostal,if we ever come back to Aguas C. we would choose this hostal again.!

Review 22:The wifi signal was not really working well in the room. The water in the bathroom sometimes ran very low; you might have a problem when you take a shower.

Review 23:Location is very close to the train station and the bus to Machu Picchu. The mountain and river view from the room is fantastic. The staff was very nice and friendly. also the laundry service is excellent. Breakfast was nice too.

Review 24:Lot of mosquitoes. As they are close to the river, they should keep windows closed. We had to fight many of them at night, and cover ourselves from head to toes with mosquito repelent.

Review 25:Location is absolutely convenient: right where the train drops you off and a block away from the bus station (to Machu Picchu) and to take the train station on your way back to Cusco. Staff is really helpful and nice. They made us a breakfast to go since we were not able to take it in the morning as we were going to MP really early. Quality is fair I believe, as we were staying only for 1 night. It is not a 5 star hotel, but amenities, size of room, comfort is really great.

Review 26:Lack of sparkle clean but a hard area in general to keep super clean.

Review 27:Close to train station and room over the river with mountain view. Staff very helpful and nice. The chicas keep it rockin'

Review 28:The train passed three times while sleeping.

Review 29:Location is near the train station and bus station. The staff gave us the rich breakfast in the evening, so that we could check out really early in the next morning.

Review 30:Hot water was unreliable. We had a mosquito problem in the room when we got there but they took care of it while we went out to dinner.

Review 31:Staff was friendly and helpful. We were there during a train strike and they let us hang out while we tried to figure out our arrangements. They held a room for us even though we weren't sure we would need it.

Review 32:Balancing the hot and cold shower can be a challenge but just be patient, and hopefully you'll be lucky to get the right water temperature that you want.

Review 33:Staff with Adelas Hostal sign met us at the train station and helped carry our luggage (if there's no one when you arrive, try to wait as he may be busy with other customers; otherwise, the hostal is very close and can be easily found). They gave us a surprise token upon check-out.

Review 34:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 35:The location was fantastic. I particularly liked the 4 rooms that face the river (incredible view). But the other 4 rooms were very nice too. It is RIGHT where you get dropped off from the train (literally about 15 steps) and only a 3 minute walk to where you catch the train out. The staff (Graciela especially) were great.

Review 36:Either had all hot water, or no hot water, mine was the later twice. We were also told we could have a late checkout at 2-3 pm, which was a decider in picking which hotel - however they reneged on this and gave us a 10 pm checkout and then stored our baggage fore the day.

Review 37:Location was close to train, and on main strip. breakfast was nice and they helped arrange to get our laundry done with a couple of hours turnaround. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable.

Review 38:Great little Hotel/Hostel with friendly staff. Breakfast was your basic fare of eggs, bread, coffee, jam etc. Staff always asked what time you needed breakfast incase you needed to catch a bus or train. Right on the railway tracks so if you don't want to hear the trains pulling in and out request a back room facing the river. Bed was comfortable and good hot water.

Review 39:Aguas Calientes is terrible. Loud music all night, trains. But Adelas was as good as you can find.

Review 40:Very helpful and friendly staff. We were leaving before breakfast so they made us a to go breakfast without us asking. Very kind.

Review 41:I guess too many people were using their showers, it turn cold half way.

Review 42:Near train and bus station. Market is just across the street. Rooms facing the back has great view. Great value for your money.

Review 43:The room and restaurant, which had windows towards the river, did not have mosquito nets on the windows.

Review 44:The staff was extremely polite and helpful, the location was perfect.

Review 45:Nothing really, wifi a bit patchy, Being beside railway means an early wake up call but convenience of location overcomes this inconvenience

Review 46:Location, facilities well beyond a hostel, low rate, view of river

Review 47:Front door left open until late night and bugs in the room were horrible. Train noise until late at night. Main lights in room had burnt out bulbs

Review 48:Close to bus stop and train. Staff was nice and helpful.

Review 49:The Hotel is located right next to the railway, so when the trains come into town in pretty much sounds like they're actually IN your room. But since this only happens during the day, we didn't mind at all and found it rather funny! ;-)

Review 50:Nice staff, we even got a little present when we left. :-)

Review 51:The only negatives were beyond the control of Adela's, there are late trains rumbling past at 11pm.

Review 52:As a group of 5 travellers we found the staff were accomodating and very helpful. The breakfast was perfect for us. The view over the river was lovely and the hot showers were the best after long days exploring the ruins.

Review 53:Room wall is made by thick wood so you can hear all the noise outside.

Review 54:The front desk staff was extremly helpful. The hotel helped us to prepare snacks for breakfast since we had to take first early bus to Machupicchu.

Review 55:Water in the shower was cold; beds were twin-sized (fine for single travelers, just less comfortable for snuggling as a couple)

Review 56:Super easy to get to and from the train (it's across the street) and the bus up to Machu Picchu. Staff was extremely helpful, including holding our big luggage during our visit to MP.

Review 57:Ear plugs are a must! The walls are so thin--it feels like everyone can hear everything in your room. That was uncomfortable... But especially the noise of the train is a problem if you're a light-to-medium sleeper. Ear plugs will solve that problem. For people like us who will only be there for 7 hours, the thin walls don't really matter.

Review 58:We only spent one night in Aguas Calientes, arriving around 9pm and leaving at 4am the next morning for a full day at Machu Picchu. So we really just needed a place to shower and sleep, and that was exactly what we got. Adelas is located on the same street that the train runs on, so we got off the train, walked about half a block, and turned into the hostel. Super convenient for someone staying only one night. We left most our bags locked in the room and picked them up right before catching a late train back to Cusco. The staff also gave us a sack breakfast shortly after checking in (since we were leaving at 4am, and the continental breakfast starts around 5:30). It was just cheese sandwiches, bananas, and juice, but still, that was nice. And there was hot water!

Review 59:The location was great. Our room overlooking the river was excellent, clean and very comfortable. Staff was very hospitable and helpful. One of our top stays in Peru. We highly recommend it.

Review 60:The hostel is right next to the train tracks; a frightening sound when you are half asleep. My grandson and I were bitten in several places by some type of insect while staying in town. I'm not 100% sure it was in the room, but suspect it was.

Review 61:The helpfulness of the staff; they were very considerate and even offered to store our luggage instead of us having to rent a locker at the train station. They also helped us open a medicine bottle that we were unable to open.

Review 62:The location was right on the train station. So the room rumbled everytime the train rolled by. Luckily the last one was at 11:30. But ifyou're trying to get to bed early for machu pichu the next day, itsucks a bit.

Review 63:The staff were so sweet and attentive. They also packed us a to -gobreakfast the night before when we told them that we would be missingbreakfast the next day. They also gave us a little good bye trinket.

Review 64:Cold at night, though blankets were provided. Loud train runs right in front of hotel.

Review 65:Personal attention to comfort and schedule. Big windows with a view of the river

Review 66:Bathroom vents open onto the central stairway. intermittent wifi.

Review 67:Great staff who helped us when we realised we had left our Machu Picchu tickets behind. Room was basic but comfortable.

Review 68:Having to leave :-( a hot water shower in Aguas Calientes might havemade me move there -- charming town :-)

Review 69:Everything! Large, clean, comfy rooms with pretty new bed linens rightacross from the train station and mercado, next to the fancy hotels, with some rooms facing the lively street, and others facing the riverwith the soothing sounds of rushing water. Adela's is one of thebest places to stay in Aguas Calientes and Adela is one of the nicestpeople I've met on my adventures in Peru. And I've been blessedwith meeting many wonderful people. Viva Peru! First of all, Adela is anangel and her hotel/hostel is awesome :-) Conveniently locatedacross the street from the train station in Aguas Calientes, whetheryou're arriving or departing by train or hiking the trail along thetrain tracks, Adela's is one of the most convenient places to staywhen visiting Machu Picchu or Aguas Calientes. Also, extremelyaccommodating. Sadly, I do not speak Spanish -- so with a few words, Imostly communicated via charades -- and after explaining my situation (Iasked to switch nights), Adela agreed. She found a fab single room forme, and offered to have my luggage brought to me from last night'shotel a few blocks away while I was up on the mountain. Wow! How nice isthat. I was on a 4-day Machu Picchu jungle trek from Cusco and our groupspent last night at a hostel near the main plaza. I booked two nights inAguas Calientes on booking.com and could not book the same hotel bothnights. This was the winter solstice week of June 20-22. The other hotelI booked just happened to be across the road from the jungle trekhostel, and luckily, both hostels allowed me to switch nights. Why dragluggage across town twice, plus, what an advantage to simply cross thestreet to the train station when leaving town. Thanks to bothhostels/hotels, it all worked out perfectly :-) Yay!

Review 70:The location is amazing; near the train station, the bus stop for Machu Picchu, and restaurants. The staff was extremely kind, and if you leave early to Machu they offer a great bag full of snacks, fruit, sandwiches, and juices. Also, I left my bag the day I went exploring the Inca site, with no additional cost!

Review 71:There was no hot water. It was a busy noisy as it was right against the train tracks. There was no one to store our luggage for the day at 4:45 am when we wanted to get in line for the bus to Machu Picchu. They need lights in the hallways.

Review 72:It was convenient to the bus to Machu Picchu.

Review 73:Be patient, as the hot water takes a few minutes to come out in the shower, and shower fast because hot water doesn't last too long. BRING EAR PLUGS because you will hear the train.

Review 74:This place is right in between the train station and the bus station to Machu Picchu. Very close to the market and many restaurants and shops. Breakfast is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Review 75:My room was RIGHT next to the train tracks. Incredibly loud. They have a restaurant, but when i asked for soup at 8:15pm, they informed me they were closed.

Review 76:Clean rooms. Hot showers. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though breakfast started at 6, they opened early at 5 for those of us trying to catch the bus up to Machu Picchu. It is right on the train tracks and it was loud when the train passed, but I had a great room on the opposite side overlooking the river. The trains didn't pass that often and didn't run late at night. So the noise wasn't a deal breaker.

Review 77:There was no hot water the morning we were returning to Cusco. Not too big of a deal as the other two days were fine.

Review 78:There was a great atmosphere. Everything was clean and all staff were really accommodating and attentive. We left early in the morning for Machu Picchu and Marciela made sure we had breakfast at 5am. It was our favorite hostel of our trip so far.

Review 79:WiFi was miserable! Breakfast was ok. Although for everything that I hadthe price was really expensive. And 2 stars for a lodging morereminiscent of a bed and breakfast?! Seriously?

Review 80:Staff were friendly despite the limited English they could communicate. The staff came to pick me up as I alighted the train, even though thetrain stops in front of the hotel lol. Otherwise the facilities wereall right and sufficient for a night stay before an early morning toMachu Picchu.

Review 81:Adelas is opposite the train station, on the river. The staff are very friendly and helpful even with limited English. Our room faced the river, which drowned out any town noise. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty is hot water. The breakfast was more than enough to power you through the morning at Machu Picchu. Also, it's only a two minute walk to the buses heading up the mountain.

Review 82:We didn't realize the hotel is on the train tracks. It is literally at the station where you are dropped off. The trains were very loud. Thankfully, only one train came in after ours, so we didn't have any problems sleeping.

Review 83:- Close to bus station that takes you up Machu Picchu - Served us breakfast early (5am) - Held our bags during the day before our train that evening - Picked us up from train station when we arrived

Review 84:Above par for the price!!

Review 85:From the moment we showed up they were very warm and welcome. Our room had a great view of the river. It was also winter time and our room kept warm at night. The night we arrived we had nothing to do so we asked the front desk for some suggestions and were introduced to Dalmiro. He explained that he would take us to a waterfall and perform the Mother Earth Ceremony. It was a great experience and if you stay here I would highly suggest asking the front desk for Dalmiro. Upon checking out we were givin a Christmas ornament which pretty much made our vacation.

Review 86:They could not speak any english but they bent over backwards to be helpful. I also had issues with the wi-fi.

Review 87:The staff was so good to us here. They rang our taxi for us. They held our belongings to make it easier to get to Machu Picchu. They gave us a free pisco sour. They walked us to the nearest ATM. They gave us a free present. Nothing was a problem for them. They tried to help as much as possible. Always friendly and trying to help. Breakfast was generous. The location is excellent.

Review 88:The one side of the hostel faces the railroad, the other side faces a creek. I choose the creek thinking we might enjoy it. It turns out we never see it by leaving for Machupicchu early and come back late. The creek is constantly running with loud noise that makes hard to get to sleep.

Review 89:The location is excellent just a few minutes from the railroad station.

Review 90:It's a hostel, no room clean up service during the stay, right across the train tracks so a bit noisy each time the train runs, inconsistent hot water for showers and noisy space. Have to request toilet paper when low from reception. Can hear conversations in hallway and upstairs. Noise travels.

Review 91:Friendly and helpful staff. In the middle of town, near plenty of restaurants. If you don't mind the noise from the train, good location. Get the back room facing the water, but beware of bugs in the room.

Review 92:Occasional noise from the train station.

Review 93:Close to the train station and Machu Picchu shuttle station. Nice and clean room (our room has a river view). Lots of good restaurants nearby. Comfy hot shower. Staff are friendly and helpful. They even prepared breakfast for us at 5am so that we could go to Machu Picchu early in the morning. Tip them well if you can. They deserve it!

Review 94:They don't accept old US dollars, so be prepared. But then it's the same everywhere in Peru.

Review 95:Close to the train station and bus station to MP Very friendly and helpful staffs Best breakfast we had in Peru Room small but comfy, can be noisy with either train or the river, but the river view is stunning Good wifi signal

Review 96:We had cold showers every day; no warm water available (which is quite ironic given the fact that the hotel is in Aguas Calientes). Furthermore we were woken up (on average) three times per night due to a train passing right in front of the hotel (extremely loud).

Review 97:Very friendly staff and clean room.

Review 98:Staff had severe problems with English, which is strange in a town that only exists because of tourism. We managed with hands, feet and a lot of patience.

Review 99:Packed breakfast if you want to go early to Machu Picchu; it was fine. You may have to ask for this a few times. Basic facilities, but clean and right next to the river. Literally across the road from the train and the bus stations.

Review 100:Unfortunately we didn't sleep much at all as the accommodation is right on the train lines and the trains are very loud. However I believe this is the same with all the accommodation in town as it is build around the train station for those wanting to see Machu Picchu. So not really the hostels fault just the way it is.

Review 101:The staff were very helpful and knowing we were getting up early to get in the Machu Picchu line brought us a packed breakfast. They also looked after our bags all day while we were up at the site. They were very willing to help us in any way and we appreciated it.

Review 102:WiFi was a problem

Review 103:The Hostal sent someone to the train station to meet us,we had not informed them which of theany arrival times to expect us. It was totally unexpected and much appreciated!

Review 104:This is truly just a hostel; nothing special about it. The bedspread was questionable and the shower was a little scary (definitely wear flip-flops!). The room was small and a bit dingy. We didn't want to hang out there, for sure. If you're just staying for the night before an early morning to Machu Picchu, it's fine. But otherwise, I would stay somewhere else.

Review 105:The location is great; you're 2 minutes from the bus stop for Machu Picchu. It's also located right on the river, which was very peaceful.

Review 106:Awesome breakfast - eggs, fresh juices, bread, jam, coffee, teas. They gave us breakfast at 5:30am before going to Machu Picchu. Hot water, nice spacious rooms - they gave us room on the river side. Wi-fi worked fine. They also have a nice restaurant with good food. The Menu was 20soles with free Pisco Sour. Very close to both the bus station and train station (2minutes max.) Would definitely stay here again! They even gave us a little gift! Very sweet of them. Their english was ok!

Review 107:Water leaked from under the basin onto the bathroom floor, which we fixed with a towel. No English spoken. A slight bit of Spanish and hand gestures solved easy questions. No place to put things in the room. We were two people and that was solved by having a room with three beds.

Review 108:Very convenient location to train and bus. The staff was very to needs, e.g. hairdryer, space heater for room. Be sure to get the riverview side. The sight and sound of the river and mountain wall are lovely. On the street side of the hotel, it is noisy due to the trains.

Review 109:train tracks run straight in front. No atmosphere and run down . Breakfast was terrible

Review 110:athe river was great and close to the bus and train. They packed us a nice free snack to take with us as we left early in the morning for the bus

Review 111:Nothing

Review 112:When we got off the Peru Rail train, someone from the Adelas’s Hostel greeted us and took us to the hostel. The hostel is right outside the train station. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. Our windows faced the train route. There were only two trains past our windows after 5pm. The last train was about 9:30pm. It was cool looking out the windows and seeing the top of the train right below the windows. I found this to be a unique experience. The receptionist was pleasant and friendly. We told her that we would take the early train up to Machu Pichu. She packed a breakfast for us. There were bananas, sandwiches, energy bars and fruit drinks. The food was quite good. We had left over breakfast for the rest of the day. There are a lot of restaurants and shops right outside of the hostel. The bus to Machu Pichu is a 2 minutes walk from the hostel. For the price I pay for the room, I will definitely stay here if I return to the area in the future

Review 115:Loved the way the hotel was waiting for us when we got off the train. Staff were very nice. Roaring river sound under our room. Would stay there again. Little cafe in reception area was convenient for wifi and meals.

Review 116:its next to the river which is quite loud but I had little trouble sleeping

Review 117:nice room nice bed great shower wifi and staff. I checked out late because I got the time wrong but they just gave me a present instead.

Review 118:The gal offered to get breakfast early for me and make me a lunch, although that was nice of her I would have done better to pick up a lunch close to the bus stop.

Review 119:Location good. Very friendly staff. Room clean and comfortable.

Review 120:Didn't have a towel and they wouldn't let me take their towel to the hot springs. There is a stand that rents towels near the hot springs, but no one was working the stand so I hate a wet walk back to the hotel post the hot springs.

Review 121:The sound of the river rushing past. The breakfast was also very good.

Review 122:there is no self-catering facility in contrary to what's advertised here. right next to the railway, it felt like an earthquake every time a train passed!!! the noise was so loud it could wake you up in the midnight.

Review 123:staff was friendly and helpful

Review 124:One of the pillows was much too high, but the other was fine. WiFi signal was weak in the rooms, and additionally it was also hard to connect when everyone else was on in the evening.

Review 125:Location is excellent, right at the train station. Had to wait for train to leave so we can get to the hostal, but I'm sure you can get there another way. Buses to MP are a couple of minutes away. Staff was very nice and helpful, and packed us food for MP since we left before breakfast was served. ** most websites/maps do not show the correct hostal location! **

Review 126:wifi is good everywhere. staff arranged take away breakfast for us as we went to machupicchu in very early morning. breakfast is good with juice, banana sandwiches and cereal bar, more than enough for a breakfast!! location is good just five minutes walk from train station and very close to the bus terminal to machupicchu

Review 127:The location is good, close to the train station, but that also means that the train is practically driving through the hostal - at least that's what it sounds like. However, I didn't hear any trains at night, and as I left early (as most people will do I guess) it's not a big thing.

Review 128:The staff are very, very nice and helpful, providing me with a takeaway-breakfast as I left at 5am to see the (non-happening) sunrise, going out of their way to fix my TV, gave tips for Machu Picchu, and even gave me a little gift when I left. Food in the restaurant is also good and very good value. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, despite the noise from the white water in front of my window, I slept well.

Review 129:From the moment I arrived, I felt very well looked after especially as there was someone waiting at the station. The staff went out of their way to help make my stay more comfortable, including looking after my bag all day and a gift as I left! Thank you to all - best hostel I've stayed in Peru (I've stayed in 15 now!)

Review 130:A staff that became our family. Kind, attentive and very helpful. My camera broke down and Saul lent me his to take photos of Machu Pichu. The cook made us eggs very early in the AM before our trek. Highly recommended.

Review 131:If you want to stay close to the river, you have to bear in mind that the river is very loud and it also won't stop being loud ;) however we got used to it and it wasn't a problem. Wifi connection could be better in the rooms but it's ok when you are close to the floor

Review 132:Very sweet young lady who prepared very nice breakfast for us, gave music recommendations and smiled all the time. Hostel is very close to bus and train stop. Hostel is next to river Urubamba with a spectacular view

Review 133:Staff were friendly. Hostel overlooks river and train tracks thought this might be an issue but it was fine u could hear the river but still slept fine, didnt hear the train as they must stop running. walk to the bus stop to machu picchu was less than a minute. Rstaurants close by. Wifi worked well

Review 134:- breakfast was not ready on 05.45 (10 minutes late), despite of being offered by the host the evening before - wifi infrastructure: "could not acqire IP address" for most of our stay

Review 135:- helpful host
