Reviews for El MaPi by Inkaterra

Review 1:Upon arrival to the hotel I learned that if you want to pay for your room with a credit card you can only do so in local currency (even though prices are quoted in USD). The hotel uses an inflated exchange rate to convert USD to local currency, making the cost of the room unnecessarily expensive.

Review 2:The place was recently renovated and our suite was tastefully decorated. The hotel is very well located: just a five-minute walk away from the train station. The staff was generally very helpful. Overall, it was a good experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a smart and modern place to stay.

Review 3:Great hotel. Exceeded my expectations on every front. Hotel is modern and super clean. Hotel arranged for us to be met at train and we used their guide to see Machu Picchu. Dinner at hotel was excellent. Super hotel.

Review 4:Very loud due to neighborhood party that lasted all night .

Review 5:Excellent value for the money . Room was not only very tasteful but also eco friendly and super clean . Food was excellent . Complimentary drinks and snacks along with very good computer connections made the stay very pleasant

Review 6:Great location, helpful and friendly staff. It is near to the bus stop for Machu Picchu. The Pisco Sour at El Mapi lounge bar is a great choice to finnish your journey.

Review 7:It had no jacuzzi - that would have been good! The WiFi was slow. The town is over-priced as it has a much sought-after location; the result is that you get less for your money.

Review 8:Staff: excellent. Kind, helpful. Guide service: excellent. Stylish and served a purpose. A little basic, but a good option in that town. Dinner included! That was great! Excellent food! Thank you.

Review 9:The design is top notch and the food was great! Most importantly, the staff was incredible. My wife was a little affected by altitude and they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable.

Review 10:The breakfast was a bit poor and the whole room smelled like rain. Toilet paper is little bit wet due to humidity which had a bad smell. Internet is super slow.

Review 11:The breakfast starts at 4:00 am which was great as we had to catch a bus early to get to MachuPicchu.

Review 12:The doors don't seem very sound-proof so you can hear the slamming of the doors from other rooms in the hallway.

Review 13:The hotel has a very nice design - it really looks like the nicest place in town. The location is great, right in the centre of the town and a very short walking distance to the train station and to the bus for Machu Picchu.

Review 14:Location ideal for the climb the next day. Less tiring not going from Cusco which is a 3 hour train ride away! Great train pickup by porter who also met us at the station on return with our luggage . Great food and happy hour drinks. A little luxury to Finnish our trip.

Review 15:I think there was a problem with the drainage system as the bathroom had an awful smell. There's no lift so we had to use stairs to and from our 3rd floor room. We hadn't requested for the wake up call but someone came to wake us up at 6am. Our tour guide came to the hotel twice to look for us and was told we weren't staying there. I had left a message at the reception to say that someone would come looking for me but that didn't seem to matter.

Review 16:The hotel is close to the train station. We found someone from the hotel waiting for us at the train station which was very good. The staff were good, especially Juan in the dining area.

Review 17:very nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately it was raining when we arrived so we spent the evening in the hotel. We had an excellent 'Lomo saltado' in the restaurant and a welcome drink in the bar. The hotel is in the center of Aguascalientes and very close to the train station and to the bus station.

Review 18:Restaurant food was below average. This is not the place to sample good Peruvian food. The suite we stayed in was spacious. However, the bathroom was between the sleeping area and the living room area, separated by curtains. The curtains between the sleeping area and the bathroom were sheer so if you're looking for privacy while using the bathroom go for a standard room not the upgrade.

Review 19:Good location in the main area. I asked for a room in the back so we weren't on the street side. As a result it was probably quieter than sleeping on the street side, but you'll still hear the dogs barking and guests partying. The shared areas are comfortable and the place is kept clean. Updated rooms, free WiFi and onsite bar.

Review 20:The poor attempt of an omelet station at breakfast, the dinner plan menu which did not change from first to last night stayed, dining room service for meals was slow and inattentive at times. Water glasses should be filled/refilled regularly, lack of English Internet workstations in lobby area

Review 21:The location in reference to the train station. Free WiFi, the layout & astetic of room, the comfort of the bed, Pico sour happy hour in lounge each night, bottle water service in room each day, friendliness of staff.

Review 22:Dinner should have at least included free glass of filtered water. Rooms need a bar of soap for shower, shower cap, and conditioner. (You only get one bar of soap and shampoo). Long hike to your room if you are on the 4th floor and much of the building is unfinished.

Review 23:New building, clean rooms, good dinner is free and included. Central location.

Review 24:As other reviews have noted, the walls are a bit thin. We could hear folks walking down the hallway and folks laughing in the courtyard. It was noticeable, but not too bad. Also, the city itself (and travelers) usually shut it down fairly early at night because most people get up early for Machu Picchu, so the noise did not last into the night.

Review 25:Huge room with a couch, sitting area, and large bathroom. Wonderful staff that spoke very good English. Location could not be better -- just steps from the train station and bus station. The included breakfast and dinner were very good as well; plenty of options for picky eaters. A bit pricey, but worth the extra cost to have a comfortable place to stay in this city.

Review 26:some unfriendly staff. restaurant service was horrible, seemed rushed and no acknowledgement when asked questions (only when they brought out what we asked for did we know our request was heard).

Review 27:good location, although very small town, so anywhere would have been good. clean, free dinner and breakfast

Review 28:I wouldn't say there was a con however the dinner portions were small so if you want to eat more then a quarter of a plate you may want to look at other restaurants. The food was amazing though!

Review 29:The location of the hotel is close to the train and the bus for Machu Picchu. They also were nice enough to keep or bags before we could check in and after we had to check out. The staff was really nice and the lemongrass drink you can have when you arrive tasted amazing.

Review 30:The only negative comment I have, is the brakfast buffet was a bit sparse with hot food. There was plenty of fruit, breads, ceral, cheese, juice, etc., & a cook making made to order omelets. But, the eggs, potatoes, & pancakes were cleaned out & not readily replaced.

Review 31:After 4 days & 3 nites on the Inka Trail, camping & using filthy latrines, this hotel was a welcome site. Easy check-in, close to Plaza, bus, train, clean, comfortable beds, good food, helpful friendly staff, good wifi, heater, robes. They thought of everything a weary traveler would need. Would recommend & stay here again.

Review 32:When we tried to use the shower there was no hot water. I reported it, but the next morning the water was hot. So perhaps good advice would be not to leave your shower until the evening. And do NOT go to the restaurant on the corner just opposite the hotel, unless it changes hands - the service was non-existent. We finally put the money on the table and left.

Review 33:Very handy.

Review 34:Everything was awesome!

Review 35:Hotel was conveniently located . Staff was excellent . Dinner and breakfast were great .. Truly a wonderful experience

Review 36:Food was "ok" nothing great

Review 37:This hotel should have 4 stars

Review 38:Location

Review 39:Clean & food is good

Review 40:Room was clean but very basic.

Review 41:Breakfast was good.

Review 42:Everything! Attention to detail and follow up was superb!

Review 43:Overpriced

Review 44:Location, facilities

Review 45:Slow internet.

Review 46:Design of the hotel is very modern and tasteful. It's rustiness fits well into the surrounding.

Review 47:price value, poor sound insulation, dinner, cold shower

Review 48:Location, cleanliness, design

Review 49:nothing!

Review 50:Our upgrade at checkin was an amazing surprise. The breakfast was also amazing - as was the pisco at checkin!

Review 51:Excellent location Dinner included Early Breakfast at 4am

Review 52:Lack of sound proof (doors) invades the privacy - you are woken up by neighbours returning late/ leaving early.

Review 53:More variety needed on dinner menu

Review 54:Nice Eco lodge, quiet area, easy access to everything. Wonderful room!

Review 55:Electricity was down for a while.

Review 56:Food was delicious.

Review 57:Construction at hotel and slow drain in shower

Review 58:staff was great and the food was good

Review 59:See above.

Review 60:It looked pretty. Very expensive and beds were not comfortable. Charged an extreme amount for extra bed.

Review 61:Shower was not warm enough

Review 62:Excellent location with beautiful gardens. An wonderful retreat from the rigours of Machu Picchu.

Review 63:Two things I didn't like are 1) there was a lot of noise both in the hallways and also in the dining room. Considering many people are waking up very early (3:30am for us) to go to Machu Picchu I would think it would be quiet earlier than 9-10pm. 2) I was annoyed that the eggs portion of the complementary breakfast were unavailable until 5am when breakfast started at 4am. Again, many people are getting up/leaving early and hiking, so having a full breakfast early is important.

Review 64:The hotel was very nice. They provided a few additional services with the room charge including two pisco sours, dinner, and brought our luggage to the train station for us. The location was also great, close to the bus station, train station, and many restaurants and shops.

Review 65:Lack of family sized guest rooms

Review 66:This hotel fills a gap at Aguascalientes. Not a fortune....not a dump. The "hipster" rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice towels and soaps. Only 2 twins or a king (the beds pushed together) so traveling with little kids, we had them camp on the floor. Would be better if they offered a family room. Breakfast and dinner included with price of room. I'd go back.

Review 67:They didn't tell us we had to bring our migration form. So we had to pay extra. Some staff said we had to pay extra, but the next morning the staff told us we could email a photograph of the migration form and it was OK. In the end it was OK, but the information we received was very confusing.

Review 68:Very comfortable bed, shower is great, the meal in the evening is good

Review 69:Even with the construction going on (it was a bit messy) it did not majoraly affect our stay. The only negative comment would be on the menu staying the same for our entire stay and we felf more variety would have been nice.

Review 70:The room and furnishings were very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was great but the menu could do with a few varitions over the week.

Review 71:The half-board meals were always the same.

Review 72:Very stylish and eco-friendly place in the village of Machu Picchu. Good rooms with nice details. Delicious breakfast with waffles.

Review 73:food was ok but not amazing. Bit loud at night from late night revellers depending where your room is positioned

Review 74:loved the location and loved the layout of the hotel. Cool lobby and cool bar area and restaurant. Staff very helpful in meeting you at station on arrival and after your stay, to give you your belongings for trip back on train after hike up Machu Picchu. This is very helpful. Nice people! Pisco sour at bar was great!

Review 75:Would prefer lower price and no dinner included...I would have liked to try out some of the local restaurants but felt I had already paid for the dinner at El Mapi so needed to stay there and eat. Food okay.

Review 76:Nice, modern property, located just steps away from the train station. Mostly mature travellers here so didn't have to contend with a lot of noise or raucous partying.

Review 77:El Ma Pi Hotel was very clean, comfortable and convenient. The staff provided excellent service and the food at the restaurant was of high quality and very accessible.

Review 78:Our experience with El MaPi was wonderful. Check-in was fast and easy. They gave us vouchers for a free Pisco Sour, which was very good. ElMaPi was a perfect location for getting to the bus station for MachuPicchu. They also delivered our suitcases to the train station after ourday at mp and an attendant was there waiting with them. The beds werevery comfortable, and the free breakfast and dinner were a wonderfuladditional bonus. The food was very good! It was pricey, but with theadded meals, I felt we got a good deal for the location.

Review 79:Way overpriced room for value offered. Room in the older building islike a dorm room in need of major repairs. Could hear the neighborsthrough paper thin walls, including bathroom. Shower did not get hotwater in the morning. Room smelled like urin. Manager was not able orwilling to address issues in the evening and referred to the complaintform that would be available in the morning. Not worth the money!!!

Review 80:Great location, good gift shop and good bar.

Review 81:Cold room- small heater that did not suffice, freezing shower in morning. Very disappointing for the amount of money spent.

Review 82:Location is great. Dinner included was great too.

Review 83:Nothing

Review 84:Staff was exceptional! Extremely helpful knowledgable about the area and friendly, as well as brought our bags to the train station the next morning. They even let us have late check out! Free Wifi Rooms were spacious, great amenities, plenty of television channels (we were quite exhausted from the Inca Trail and spent lots of time in our room). Showers were great Food in the dining room was delicious, as well as breakfast.

Review 85:Adjoining room linked through air vent in bathroom wall so could hear them clearly

Review 86:Helpful and friendly staff, very efficient Dinner included (unaware of this until we arrived) Complimentary Pisco Sours in bar and Happy Hour drinks Centrally located

Review 87:The hotel was nice. The staff was very helpful. Food was great!

Review 88:Great location and very helpful staff. Breakfast was cooked to order.

Review 89:decent price, new and clean. everything you need. resultant and bar and awesome

Review 90:The location was very convenient but it was the quality of service that I really appreciated. The staff was friendly, helpful and very professional.

Review 91:Location and facilities for that particular area. Food and beverage amenities also good.

Review 92:The bed linens did not smell clean.

Review 93:The location is fabulous. The food was included (breakfast and dinner, plus the complementary mini bar).

Review 94:Thin walls between room Dinner - The food was terrible

Review 95:Location Breakfast

Review 96:Good location

Review 97:A bit overpriced

Review 98:room price

Review 99:Restaurant and bar comfy bed free minibar location

Review 100:Understaffed. Ordered a box lunch the night before and theyforgot about it.

Review 101:Clean, basic, comfortable, quiet.

Review 102:Room dated and very "spartan" High price for type of accomodations

Review 103:Location and friendliness of staff

Review 104:They power was out for over 24 hours, and I think that it was overpriced.

Review 105:I liked the staff and how nice they were.
