Reviews for Hotel Grand Canal Station Delft
Review 1:Breakfast was overpriced with 10 Euro. The walls are very thin and you can hear clearly when your neighbours are talking on the phone.
Review 2:Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 3:The lady in the reception was too cranky and not welcoming at all. It was too noisy. you could clearly heard people in the next room, or people upstairs were walking or talking.
Review 4:It was very close to the train station and right in the city center. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 5:The hotel was nice but there was no room service, there was a clock but it was broken and it was quite noisy till late hours of the night
Review 6:The hotel was well decked with available refreshments at all hours. The staff and the service quick and responsive.
Review 7:In the pictures appear a bath with a jacuzzi, but when we got there there wasn't a jacuzzi. We felt so disappointed about it...
Review 8:The hotel is in the center. It was clean and the bed was so comfortable.
Review 9:In general is quiet, but during some nights there was some noisy people walking the narrow streets of Delft in this place, probably students. Not really troublesome.
Review 10:In the center, good access, clean, good bed and pillows, full facilities in the room and outside and nice breakfast. Personnel was very friendly.
Review 11:The receptionist was rude and unfriendly, no smile, no welcome greetings, no advice for our stay. She was the worst receptionist I ever met.
Review 12:Nice location, comfortable room.
Review 13:no lift. no parking onsite. no curtain round the shower to prevent water getting all over the bathroom floor! no heat in bathroom - heated towel rail would be good. no information in English for events etc.
Review 14:big bed. facilities in the room and bathroom. breakfast.
Review 15:good choice in breakfast but not allot of it. Both mornings there I left still feeling hungry
Review 16:Room with a view right on the canal, the friendly and helpful staff, the big soft bed
Review 17:The windows of my room did not prevent any of the noise coming from outside in the street. I couldn't sleep at all that night, because there were people on the street, walking, talking, and shouting until the morning, and all that noise was heard in the room in a very annoying way, terrible, terrible, terrible.
Review 18:grumpy receptionist, not helpful trying to locate a car park.We also left town map in the car at the car park and she refused to give us another one.Based on this we decided to have breakfast somewhere else. Some traing needed I think.Opposite a noisy hostel.
Review 19:Location was excellant and our room was comfortable. Also the communal area which offered tea ,coffee and cookies for free during the day
Review 20:Not enough variety of things to eat in breakfast. More variety to suit visitors from different countries would be better, like some Asian food
Review 21:Location is very good
Review 22:The floor of the room needed to be cleaned. The breakfast was a buffet and things could have been a little warmer/freshly prepared.
Review 23:Location and value
Review 24:Hotel is placed on quite busy street of Delft. Some young people made something like party on the street. And it was quite annoying. I am suprised that something like this is possible right under the windows of the hotel. But maybe I am just getting old :) But next time when I will travel in Delft and it will be possible I will choose this hotel again.
Review 25:Everything in the hotel was great- hotel is clean, rooms are very well equiped, breakfest was awesome. Everything is quite close - historic sights, parking, shoping,
Review 26:Wifi is a joke. We felt very much cheated. We only rarely managed to get online. I complained and was told that sometimes there wifi works sometimes not. Lastly very hot room with no aircondition.
Review 27:Very nice staff. Very cozy place.
Review 28:Problems connection wi-fi in our room.So i pay a service that i can't able to use in privat way. Breakfast food no tasty. Hotel is overrated.
Review 29:Good position to visiit Delft.
Review 30:An excellent and beautiful location next to a canal, easy access everywhere! Friendly personnel. Breakfast was excellent (but lacking on non-dairy and non-meat products, but on the other hand that's the case quite often in NL). Room was clearly old (it's an old building) but well equipped, we even had a jacuzzi.
Review 31:Although there was a bar there was no wine and only cans of beer. Being an avid Belgian beer drinker was a bit disappointed .
Review 32:The bed was super comfy ! Slept like a log.
Review 33:Like many European hotels in buildings that once served a different purpose, the hotel had a very small bathroom. Sitting on the toilet required an exercise in gymnastics so I was glad to be a man! The wifi was sometimes so slow as to be almost stationary.
Review 34:The location is terrific and the room large and comfortable. Fruit, tea and coffee are provided and the staff were very friendly. The view from the window, onto a canal, was lovely and Delft is a very pleasant and interesting city - the more so if you like the work of Vermeer!
Review 35:Toilet seat in bathroom 4 is very crooked!!! Bathroom is small and difficult to move around the door. Should not charge people for coffee in the room.
Review 36:Lovely and spacious-enough room facing the canal. Helpful and pleasant staff. Free wifi. Nice variety of breakfast items.
Review 37:drain plug in tub did not work, no way to shower with out getting water all over bathroom wifi was sketchy on second floor, very loud inconsiderate family in room next door waking us at 6am (even thought I banged on wall), phone in room was no longer connected but had not been removed so could not call front desk to complain
Review 38:room was clean, convenient location, complimentary wine in evening, although they may have left it out by mistake,
Review 39:The location is very close to Delft station and easy to access various points in Delft. My room on the ground floor is very new and I can enjoy the canal once I open my window.
Review 40:The fact that coffee and tea are available in the room but you have to pay for the coffee at the reception desk. Breakfast is only available after 9 a.m. in the weekends.
Review 41:The location.
Review 42:Great location in old town, very close to all attractions , as well as to train station. Genuine old building in Delft - style, room with a canal view - we could feel as if we stayed there at Vermeer's time. Good, variable breakfast.
Review 43:The wifi did not work
Review 44:Cosy hotel in Delft Central. Near "everything". Great cityscape scenery outside. Fantastic breakfast that is even better than what you get at 5 stars
Review 45:The hotel was at a great location, close to the centre of town and right beside a canal. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.
Review 46:The breakfast was ok. The Hot part was really just cold and then ran out early. The great seats by the windows sat empty most of the morning because they were reserved.
Review 47:Location was great.
Review 48:Like many others have said the shower floods the bathroom. Lots of extras added onto the bill when we arrived (eg booking fee) after the amount had been confirmed on this website.
Review 49:The staff and location
Review 50:The breakfast was the highlight of the stay .It was quite lavish. I also liked the fact that there was tea and coffee on the landing, also a snack. Comfy room.
Review 51:Trying to find parking... scary!
Review 52:Position (but don't bring a camper van and preferably not a car.. best arriving by bike) Free snacks in attractive sitting area
Review 53:Tired decor but that doesn't really matter. Breakfast options were minimal but satisfactory
Review 54:Good location near the square and restaurants. Warm room on a cold day.
Review 55:Only one little thing: since the building is a classical Dutch style, I actually had a hard time to find it at the first time since almost all buildings around that area look alike.
Review 56:I really like the location (at the side of a canal and really close to Delft station), the interior of the building and room, the view from the room, and the free breakfast included. I also like the very friendly staff, she was really helpful and informative.
Review 57:The hotel is close to train and trams. Parking is very close. Easy walking distance to explore beautiful Delft. Staff and hotel facilities wonderful. Highly recommend.
Review 58:Very small room (not really a problem) with very poor sound insulation (a bit more annoying). Could just about hear everything the loud people in the next room said, but fortunately they shut up by bedtime! I expected the 4.80 tourist tax to be added to the bill but not the 3.00 "reservation fee", whatever that is!
Review 59:Location was picturesque and convenient. Close to station and historic town centre. Hotel is in pretty old building with canal views from bedrooms. Help-yourself buffet breakfast, so you can basically eat as much as you like. Complimentary coffee and cakes in lounge. Staff very friendly and helpful, looked after our bags after check-out while we explored town.
Review 60:There was a piece of dried bread between the side table and the bed; the room was kept clean otherwise nevertheless.
Review 61:A very convenient location close to the station, and nicely located off the main road. The friendly staffs have lovely smiles. They have a sitting corner with a cosy sofa, coffee and biscuits. The large bath tub was comforting and lovely. The breakfast room was quite pleasant and the coffee tasted fine. The room temperature was well-kept, felt neither too hot nor cold.
Review 62:Arrived late so reception was shut so I could not obtain a password for the internet.
Review 63:Nice room with a very good value. Also very nice bathroom with the room.
Review 64:There is no lift, so it was a bit awkward getting cases up the steep stairs but not a major problem.
Review 65:The be best thing about the hotel was its proximity to the station - just a 3 minute walk. All the rooms have canal views too.
Review 66:Some of it needs repainting. No drink dispenser/minibar after hours (but free coffee/tea at all hours). Noise isolation is minimal... but the street is really quiet anyway. Not overly friendly staff, but not rude either...
Review 67:Easy access (from downtown or Zuidport parking). Comfy room (spacious, nice beds). Reasonable pricing.
Review 68:The wifi in the bedroom didn't work as it should. My phone had to be on the ground and far from the bed to get signal. Although I have asked for it to be fixed and for other network password it did not work. In the hall there is internet as well: for surfing and text msgs is fine but for Skype calls does not last very long.
Review 69:I really liked to stay in this hotel. The location in very practical: if you arrive in the airport in Amsterdam all you have to do it to but the train ticket to Delft and get out in the "Delft" station (NOT in Delft south!!!) and walk like 5 minutes. This was great because when I arrived was snowing :D It is super close to the city center, restaurants, supermarkets, TU Delft as well. The bed is excellent, the bathroom is excellent, they even have a kettle and a small fridge if you like to make your own snacks.
Review 70:The noise from the street make it almost impossible to fall asleep.
Review 71:The location and service in the hotel were very good. We got a beautiful view from our room to the canal.
Review 72:This hotel has been one of my worst stays as long as I can remember (I am 45 years old!): 1) The Hotel uses exclusively Ikea furniture, which already gives a greedy first impression. 2) Worst for me was to find long hair in the bed, even on the pillow. Since I have short hair it can't be mine. Also the sheets did not have a fresh smell and feel, so obviously the sheets are not changed between customers!!! 3) The windows seem to have no seals, so the strong wind outside in that night was clearly sensible inside the room. Not only moving the curtains but carrying in cold air in (it was December and rather cold). 4) The room as bitter cold when I arrived and I had to turn on the heating by myself and wait for an hour or so until I could take off my coat. 5) Any noise from the street feels inside as if the windows would be wide open (another effect of the lacking seals). Mind that Delft is a student town and students there are party until late into the night even on weekdays. 6) The WiFi was very weak and bearly usable. I had to finish a presentation and this became quite a torture. 7) The tiles in the bathroom floor were cracked and small tiny flies regularely appear from these gaps. Again not an indication for "top cleanliness". 8) The breakfast has been the most creedy breakfast I have experienced ever. For example there was not even butter only cheap margarine. Also other things like the orange juice seem to be the cheapest one can possibly buy. This list is not complete but I'll leave it here. Clearly not a recommendation.
Review 73:The location is good and the staff is very friendly and helpful (check-in, check-out, calling a taxi, etc.).
Review 74:Bathroom is extremely small and I had problems with hot water in the evening. Extremely bad internet connection. In general a little too pricy
Review 75:Nice location:very close to the train station and to main city attractions. Big clean room with comfortable bed and nice window view. Very good breakfast.
Review 76:Thin walls, single pane glass so might not be suitable for very light sleepers. Heating was on way too high in the room, but easily solved because the windows can open.
Review 77:No reception after 22:00 but absolutely no problems getting in after this time. Big room, good bed, good shower.
Review 78:the hotel staff did not even know that i had booked an arrangement with breakfast and tried to give me the one without breakfast. only after i showed them the details of the reservation from booking.com they changed the invoice... and they even dared to charge an administration fee due to the booking through booking.com!
Review 79:good location and good breakfast
Review 80:The town is full of students and the streets are noisy until late, but that's the price for the good location. However there was also noise inside the hotel, apparently due to the hotel's responsible who talked by phone too much loudly (who quiet screamed in the corridors... at 10pm)
Review 81:first time I see an offered bottle of Chili wine in the room :-) very cool, even for a French traveler!! Kindness of the staff.
Review 82:Could be cheaper, in particular in off-season term.
Review 83:Good location close to both rail stn and historical center. Room clean and normally furnished / equipped. Tea facilities in rooms, coffee (Nespresso machine) for surcharge. Warm reception.
Review 84:Since the hotel is located in an old house, some of the areas (especially the bathroom) could use some touch-ups. Also the heating only seems to kick in later in the night (after 11 PM or so).
Review 85:The hotel is located close to the train station. Nice view of the canal. The buffet breakfast is really worth the money. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Review 86:Decor in room and bathroom a little dated but was clean and comfortable. Could hear people outside hotel late at night but not so much as to put us off returning.
Review 87:Great location. Huge room with a bath. Lovely breakfast.
Review 88:Wifi signal was not very strong, but who cares about being connected when you're on holidays :)
Review 89:Location was good: very close to the train station and close to the centre. Warm, silent and cozy room window with view to a lovely canal. Very friendly staff. Everything was correct, clean and affordable. I'll surely repeat if I'm back in Delft.
Review 90:I would have liked to be able to rent a bicycle, but it's not a big deal.
Review 91:For its location, facilities and - not the least - it's atmosphere a a hotel i always look forward to
Review 92:Had hardly any sleep as could hear a large crowd of people all through the night and also windows were rattling - may need better sound proofing
Review 93:Location Clean rooms Friendly staff
Review 94:We had a delightful experience - this is our second time at the hotel - a very gentle peaceful atmosphere - we intend to visit again - we rated quality of sleep as good because other people may prefer harder/softer beds - we love it - nice & quirky - 5 stars for a 3* hotel
Review 95:everything was perfect, the hotel is very cosy, 5-min walk from the train station, close to the centre, near a canal. the bedroom was very nice and the staff friendly.
Review 96:Bed had a bit of a pit in it and parking instructions were a somewhat vague - the staff use bikes and didn't understand the car route! It would be a good idea to have some better written instructions in English. Actually when I found it the parking was good and relatively near, under a theater and shopping complex and cost just 8 Euros for 24 hours.
Review 97:Location and overall accommodation. Breakfast superb.
Review 98:Noisy at night occasionally.
Review 99:Very close to old town, market and cafes and facilities. Easy access to trains and trams. Great as a cycling base. Delft is a beautiful city and well worth a visit.
Review 100:Extra charge for Wifi. The bathroom was really small and due to this the toilet was a bit difficult to access. I'm sure a tall person would have found this even worse.
Review 101:Nice view from the windows over the canal. Breakfast was good - lots of options including fresh fruit. Staff were helpful and let us leave our bags there while we had a look around the town.
Review 102:The staff were lovely. We were hot when we arrived & they spontaneously gave us cold juice. The location was fantastic- close to train station , all the attractions & such a beautiful spot
Review 103:There is nothing not to like!
Review 104:If you want to stay in a quiet nook of ultra pretty Delft, bang in the centre with a view of a lovely canal, and not pay through the nose this is the hotel for you. The amenties are basic but fine, the staff very friendly, the room is comfortable, and i would happily book again. And it is as close as you can get to the station while being in the old centre of town
Review 105:parking
Review 106:What to say..all systems worked, pleasant spanish staff...felt a bit unsure about the final payment but have no real complaints, breakfast excellent.
Review 107:As far as I saw, there is no air conditioning. That wasn't a big deal for me (July) but might be of interest in summer.
Review 108:Comfortable hotel 10 min away from center and 20 min from TUD. Even if sound insulation is not the best, the rooms are very quiet. The hair dryer is provided for free at the reception.
Review 109:loved it all
Review 110:the location was so easy, near to the station, the canals and the centre of delft breakfast was outstanding something for everyone. Our room was spacious and the bed huge! staff were friendly and helpful even in the middle of the Holland world cup match!
Review 111:I asked for a gluten free breakfast, and checked this the night before but there was no gluten free bread the next day. However, the rest of the breakfast was very good.
Review 112:The location was great, close to the train station so I could easily walk there with my luggage after travelling by train. Close enough to the town centre to make exploring Delft easy as well.
Review 113:Room was warm and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 114:shower and toilet in one, basin in room, no english tv channels(working on cable ?). no view from windows
Review 115:close to station and metro,
