Reviews for Greenacres Alpine Chalets & Villas
Review 1:the facilities are very tired (warn down) update these older buildings information in the condemn was outdated. facial booked was $98 but updated price was $110.
Review 2:location and the spectacular views all rooms large with awesome vista from all :) the provisions in the room met our needs for one night We would have loved to spend a week +, relaxing and enjoying the many activities Hanmer has to offer
Review 3:The staff were very slow to come to the reception desk at check-in and didn't volunteer information about wifi - we had to return to reception to ask about this (with another long wait for staff to turn up.)
Review 4:Hanmer Springs is a great little town in a wonderful environment.
Review 5:chalet was dated and needs upgrade and investment to make it more like 2016 and not 1976. electric plug in the bedroom dodgy. bathroom was dark and dated. Chalet info states there vision statement was to provide excellence for customer and profit for owners. I cannot speak to profit but excellence for customer is something they need to work on. No free wifi either. $8 to use Spa, when the main attraction in the town is only $20+ why would you pay $8?
Review 6:location was fine
Review 7:Woke to no power in our unit. When we notified the proprietor they thanked us for letting them know, but no apology or offer of recompense :(
Review 8:Great location with awesome views. Great walk up Conical Hill right at the gate.
Review 9:We stayed in a great chalet with two bedrooms, a sunken living room with great views of the mountains, a little kitchen and small dining area. It was perfect for the four of us- 2 adults and 2 young children- it was a short walk into town and the thermal pools- we had a fabulous time!
Review 10:Offered free wifi.......didn't work! Living area was cramped with 2 single beds in there only one comfy chair so one of us had to sit on the bed. Whole place could do with some TLC.
Review 11:Location
Review 12:One of the dining chairs was broken and our son fell off it (uninjured). The person on reception was grateful to us for letting her know.
Review 13:We had a lovely view and there was play equipment close to our chalet for the kids. The location is very convenient to the township and the Conical Hill walk.
Review 14:The ratings on your site are over estimated. Very out of date Old decor, very old, felt dirty and behind the bed was Lawns and weeds outside and unkept
Review 15:The chalet was in need of renovating, the furniture old and uncomfortable, the heater was so old and didn't heat the unit sufficiently. Thank goodness it wasn't in the middle of winter because we would have froze to death!
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:In one room a bed had blood on wall and duvet cover only small amount. We reported this and they were apologetic and agreed to clean
Review 18:we were late arriving due to delayed flight and everybody was most helpful only had short stay so can't really comment on facilities but bed was good and unit had all we needed.
Review 19:the smell of disinfectant? felt a bit dated and overpriced but we only booked 2 days ahead so price probably to be expected
Review 20:cleanliness and the fact that we showed up 2 hours ahead of check in time but were allowed in with no fuss
Review 21:The bathroom was located straight off the kitchen.
Review 22:The Manager was friendly and very welcoming. Great set up for families and walking distance to town and the hot pools. Loved our stay here and would definitely recommend. We didn't have any but pets are also welcome.
Review 23:The room was tidy and clean and had everything we needed. The staff were lovely and willing to help. The location was good as it was a short walk into town but not right in the centre. We enjoyed the fact that we had our own unit.
Review 24:Pet friendly in the nicest of ways. Very friendly staff and owners. Beautiful views and grounds. Very clothes to Hamner pools. Not the most modern of furnishings but with a pet, who cares!
Review 25:Beautiful view, very friendly staff, easy walk down to pools and restaurants. Very clean comfortable room with everything you need if you wanted to stay in and cook.
Review 26:The room was advertised with views & Wifi. There was no Wifi avail from room - only in office. Also - each villa allocated 100mb each day. No views from inside chalet. Office hours advertised 8a to 8p. Office was closed & we cldnt purchase washing powder for washing after 7:30p.
Review 27:Shower was modern & clean. Good location.
Review 28:a little short on comfy seating for 5 adults; we were able to bring in outside chair for dinner table as we were 5, some of adult children sat on floor against wall but no complaints.
Review 29:style of villa suited family group electric blankets lovely. sun in morning on deck made me wish I was staying for the day. pleasant staff, nice green space in middle
Review 30:Bathroom/shower need updating. Rooms very cold, heat pump was on from when we arrived on Friday night til Sunday morning, also turned oil heater onto high & had this in hallway. Bedroom so cold the carpet felt damp. I'm sure this would be a lovely place to stay in warmer weather.
Review 31:the bed was hard like a brick. couch looked a little dirty we covered it with a spare blanket to sit on. rotten skirting board by shower. needs to be up dated a little
Review 32:view. private. location. nice setting
Review 33:Wifi didn't work the entire time we were there, bed was squeaky anduncomfortable, heater rattled so loudly we were unable to sleep with iton - les than ideal in the middle of winter. Staff were rude andcouldn't care less about customer service and keeping people happy. The room hadn't been renovated in over 40 years, definitely notworth what we were charged for a night.
Review 34:Nothing!
Review 35:No heaters turned on, so was very cold when arrived. Very creaky floor and no towels to hire for hot pools after sending email week to check if supplied.
Review 36:Very spaced 3 bdrm unit
Review 37:The fan heater was very noisy, and even though it was on a temperature control we couldn't leave it on overnight, as every time it started up (when the temperature dropped) it woke someone up.
Review 38:Very roomy, comfortable unit
Review 39:We were a bit cold and needed the heat pump on all night which was very noisy. It was mid winter but still it is a winter resort should expect to have cold nights. Still would definitely go there again in the summer/spring/autumn
Review 40:The place was very clean and the customer service was excellent
Review 41:We were told on the phone prior to our arrival that the under 2 year olds were free then were charged for the cots. Not worried about the cost, just make up your minds.
Review 42:The 2 room chalets were very reasonably priced - unfortunately not side by side as the 12 of us would have liked but the positioning is totally understandable
Review 43:Great location with views. Our one bedroom chalet - though decor a little tired - had plenty of space, was pet friendly, clean, and good value for money.
Review 44:Cold, didn't know how to work the heater at first, TV remotes were hard to work aswell, run out of sugar only a few sachets so couldn't have a coffee or hot chocolate in the morning, staff gave us milk that was a day expired. Our light outside didn't work so was hard to see at night. Couldn't find any scissors so I had to use a knife.
Review 45:Location, TV was okay needed to be upgraded, warm but had to have the heater going most of the time. Comfy pillows
Review 46:The pictures of the challet in the website did not reflect the rooms that we stayed in.
Review 47:Nice cruisey stay, loved the location, wild life was rather friendly, liked having the cat stay in our room for a bit.
Review 48:Freezing, old units with no insulation. Old fashioned decor.
Review 49:Quiet. Although old fashioned, the kitchen was extremely well equipped for self catering.
Review 50:The unit was cold on arrival, and the wall heater was not good enough for Hanmers cold winter.
Review 51:We came for the delight of the pools. The closing times quoted by your staff was incorrect, we stayed longer because the hours were longer.
Review 52:Recommend a 4x4 had a car trailer with a Hilux on it and was quite a venture up to the property and even harder to turn around!
Review 53:Great value for money, relaxed service and even let us stay an hour longer free or charge!
Review 54:It's middle of winter , cold and the heat pump and systems didn't heat the bed rooms. So we had to get another heater off them to heat them.
Review 55:Top of the hill , a good view over Hamner springs. Good space in unit.
Review 56:Dirty, dusty, facilities were broken and ancient. Will never use again. Also hadn't cleared the deep snow from the uphill accessway to get to the motel, so struggled to get the car there. Would not use again.
Review 57:The heater was very old and louder than my car which meant you had to turn it off to sleep so it was very cold. The room was very clean except there was some rubbish unfortunately left under the bed from previous guests.
Review 58:Good location and nice friendly feel.
Review 59:Inadequate heating in rooms, one electric blanket didn't work. Wifi did not work at all. Next to room that had a yappy dog. Other better accommodation discovered for cheaper prices afterwards.
Review 60:Very comfortable beds. Good views
Review 61:Just a little out dated, shower was really bad, no pressure. We asked for a one bedroom for a couple, the lounge had 2 single beds and to single seats? Need to be more of a lounge set up; getting home after dinner and wanting to sit down and watch some telly and chill out before bed, both my partner and me had to strategically lye on a soft single bed?? I wanted to do catch up on admin work while I was relaxing and only 100MB of free internet for a day? 2 people using it, browsing and chilling; gone in 6 hours.
Review 62:The Chalet was really cool and stand alone, loved the fact you could come back to a little "Homely" feeling place. Spa pool is a must. Location was in a very handy position, close to bush walk and 2 minute walk into center. It was warm and stayed warm.
Review 63:The bed was uncomftable no curtain in kitchen was given a small oil heater as they, didn't know how to operate the wall heater glad we worked it out as the oil heater wouldn't be warm enough, very old decor
Review 64:Cute looking cabins
Review 65:The only AC is not enough for such a big high roof house. Only one extra heater provided for the big bedroom and it wasn't work properly. we when to the reception to get help then they gave us another broken one.
Review 66:location is really good and the cottage is well designed
Review 67:Instead of a sofa, there were two beds in the living area. The chair that was there was so old it was very uncomfortable. I had no place to sit other than my bed. Peeling wall paper, threadbare carpets, rusted cooker crowding the sink so that it wasn't easy to wash up. The poor layout of the bathroom was so crowded and the sliding door was off its hinges so no privacy, just as well I was on my own. The chalet was very much in need of a make over! The price wasn't budget, but the presentation was.
Review 68:I loved the quite location, it was well stocked and clean. Warm with plenty of hot water for showering and washing up.
Review 69:The unit was very cold when we arrived mid afternoon. The heater rattled badly. Everything looked 'tired'. We weren't offered WIFI.
Review 70:Friendly welcome. Nice outlook. a warm comfortable bed.
Review 71:we would have liked to have had a spa but couldn't get anyone to answer the reception door to arrange this...but it was at 9-15pm so maybe we were a bit late to arrange this ...not a biggy
Review 72:good location ,quiet, clean , cant ask for more than that happy to come again
Review 73:Aside from the glorious location, and the new bathroom, the unit was lovely and clean and staff very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Review 74:Needs and upgrade as rooms are very well used.for what we paid I'd expected nicer rooms. However we saved by bringing all our own food and drinks. Kitchen provided everything and was very clean
Review 75:Had a nice out door grass area and suited my families needs
Review 76:Not enought cupboard space in kitchen to store your food or other items. Bathroom Towels old and falling apart. Chalet little bit outdated except for bathroom quite modern. Sleeps 6 but really only big enough for maybe 4 as small chalet.
Review 77:Staff very friendly, heating works well, cheap enough, only couple min walk into town, quiet, beautiful views.
Review 78:Use of barbeque would have cost extra,Free Wifi very limited, had to pay for extra
Review 79:Great location, walking distance to town centre and hot springs. beautiful views from the porch of the chalet. Hire of extra towels $2 each for use at the hot springs. Renovated bathroom.
Review 80:The bathroom had a slightly musty smell. Overall it was quite small and the furniture old. The WiFi has to be used all at once or it runs out after 30 minutes, you can't 'save' it to use the rest later.
Review 81:The location is great, within walking distance of the town but not too close - nice and quiet. The staff were very helpful and the electric blanket made a cold night bearable. Nice shower, with handwash and shampoo supplied. The big mirror in one of the bedrooms (with hairdryer) was very useful.
Review 82:A pity it didn't have sky. If it did we couldn't find it.
Review 83:Nice location and the fact that the Staff were helpful to get our breakfast to our room as we were going out that evening.
Review 84:The floor squeaked rather badly - very annoying especially if you got up in the night. In the hallway and toilet- bathroom.
Review 85:Good view from deck. Large sofa with lots of room to spread out and relax. Plenty of space.
Review 86:The location is excellent and the accommodation had everything we needed and wanted. The wifi had a good connection too which was a plus and its only a short walk to the things we wanted to do. Perfect place for our 11 month old daughter to run around too!
Review 87:Room was not made up or cleaned, although someone did replace the chocolate drink packets. We did not notice this till late afternoon after returning and did not request service, which would probably have been given.
Review 88:Many walking trails, friendly efficient check in
Review 89:Parking. getting in & out of the covered park was a bit awkward but not a big deal. Of course if it had been raining when we were there I'm sure we would have appreciated the covered park.
Review 90:Quiet. Balcony enabled us to sit outside in shade & have drinks on a very hot day.
Review 91:talking about location, it is close to moutain track and hammer spring spa :) !!! In the morning you can breath in the fresh hammer spring's air, and enjoy the stunning view. The unit was huge and comfortable. Great facilities with very kind and friendly staffs :) !!
Review 92:Bit small and cramped for 4. Bit tatty for the price bit it is a tourist town
Review 93:Good location, friendly staff. Units are getting old so wee bit shabby and kitchen right next to toilet. Thought it was expensive for what it was and glad to only stay 1 night
Review 94:There were mouse droppings in the oven, a broken smoke alarm, a bedroom lamp was broken and there was no air conditioning. Towels were old and raggy. All the kitchen shelves were dirty and utensils had just been thrown in a heap. There was no evidence of any major cleaning ever and all surfaces were very grubby. There was no compendium available and no telephone. When the internet server went down, the management were unable to reset it. Booking.com should stop recommending this motel. It is the worst we have ever stayed at.
Review 95:The motels are very run down and shabby. There are chips on all the paint work and the furniture is tired. The worst thing was when I went to use the fry pan in the morning there was dried up food on it from the previous guests. It was disgusting and I would never stay here again. The whole place needs a total revamp.A pity because its a great location.
Review 96:We were in Hanmer for a wedding at the Heritage so the location and the view were excellent.
Review 97:A quiet and scenic location plus a comfortable roomy chalet made this a perfect stopover for our young family. 5 minute walk to the town centre for dinner, or a well equiped kitchette for self catering; modern bathroom; old style children's playground which was very popular with our two boys!
Review 98:Booking promised views and this was untrue of the units we stayed in. Spa was closed. Outdoor furniture was dirty, shower had no light. A bright light shone into our unit all night. The 'chalets' were very dated and had. It been maintained.
Review 99:Nice, one bedroom chalet, with clean, renovated bathroom. The kitchen was well equiped for our needs to have breakfast in the morning. Close walking distance to the Thermal Bath and center. Friendly staff. Good value for money and great location. Recommended. We stayed there with our two small kids 4&1 year olds and it worked really good for us.
Review 100:So much! - no nets on windows, despite so many bugs that sting - decor is plain ugly - free WiFi is only for 30min - bed very uncomfy - everything requires extra pay: towels, DVDs, etc. although other hostels offers these as a complimentary perk
Review 101:Outside area us green and nice; easy to let the kids run around (if you have any)
Review 102:No wine glasses !
Review 103:Comfortable spacious accomodation for a grown family of six adults. Close to town for walking in and out but the hill is a bit of a killer in 29deg!
Review 104:Hard bed. Facilities in kitchen tired looking, too old. Lack of Sky TV. Lack of free wifi. Given the gradient of the hill, it was a most unpleasant walk to township and back.
Review 105:Quiet surroundings. Pleasant and efficient staff.
Review 106:The huge flies but that was unavoidable since it was summer. It would be great if there was a washing machine too but otherwise, one of the best places I've ever stayed at.
Review 107:The 3-bedroom villa was beautiful and had such a great view. The villa was clean and very comfortable. The shower was excellent! The kitchen was modern and well-equipped.
Review 108:Verandah and verandah chairs were dirty so couldn't sit outside. Some people might find it a bit far to walk into town but it is only 10 mins.
Review 109:The view of the town and.mountain were very relaxing. We were given an upgrade to a 2 bedroom unit. Definitely I recommend.choosing the bigger unit. I think the units might be individually owned. The only reason I mention this is that unit quality and furnishings may vary Furnishings were old fashioned but comfortable. Extremely well equipped kitchen. It had the longest bath that I have ever seen. Excellent heating Large carport with clothesline.
Review 110:For those of us cooking for a family some of the kitchen utensils need a bit of updating, mainly the microwave and the frying pan.
Review 111:Lovely rustic buildings and fantastic views over the valley. In the trees so cool after a hot day.
Review 112:Can't think of anything.
Review 113:The position, views, the layout of the apartment. It was an older style apartment but everything was well maintained. Had a great feeling about it. The balcony opening onto the kitchen eating area was especially pleasant in the evenings.
Review 114:Interior a little tired and wasn't like pictures on the website
Review 115:Was chilled out and quiet, nice to have space between room. Was excellent to be able to take our dog.
Review 116:Didn't like it that the free wifi was for first 30 continuos minutes for 3 devices. The downside is that all 3 have to log on at the same time.
Review 117:I feel like Greenacres is really good value for money. The view from my unit was great. As this is up on a hill we had a good view. Like the interior of the unit. The grounds of the motel was beautiful. Our hosts upgraded us to a larger unit when we checked in, much to our surprise. We had an enjoyable stay. Wish we had stayed longer here.
Review 118:Units just slightly tired.
Review 119:Location (raised and just out of town, but easily walkable). Sizeable units. Friendly, helpful staff. Relatively good value for money. Spacious grounds/layout.
Review 120:would of been nice if balcony opened up to overlook the valley making the most of the view rather than the carpark.. Chalet had essentials and was realitively comfortable but was a bit tired and in need of updating.
Review 121:Loved location being higher up the hill
Review 122:We enjoyed the weekend we could park the car up and walk to town and the hot pools we would recommend it to our friend and we will be back. The office staff were great.
Review 123:I left an item of clothing in the wardrobe and contacted Edwin about it. He actually sent it back in the post and I received it in time for our departure to Sydney. I was really impressed with he service.
Review 124:Easy to find, good parking, good size cabin everything you need for a stay in Hanmer...and if you are not into self catering the ample breakfast offered is simple and filling :)
Review 125:Bed blankets had human hair all over them, couch and single lounge seat very uncomfortable & to low to the ground for oldies, shower water pressure needs attention, lounge heater fan speed broken, hair in ice-cube container (fridge), no bath in unit as shown in photos, grounds un-kept, do urinating around units
Review 126:setting, unit design (character) close to town, friendly staff, clean kitchen, toilet & shower
Review 127:TV needed to be set up in a place where everyone can sit and watch.could not turn off outside light which shone in at nite
Review 128:Well equipped. Comfortable chairs
Review 129:Heater very noisy, woke frequently when the heating kicked in. Another occupant of a chalet did not think it important to pick up after his dogs when they had messed on the grass where children play.
Review 130:Staff were lovely, Met the receptionist, (loved the decoration in her hair), a lovely caring young lady. Also the young man who cleaned and serviced the unit did his job extremely well with a lovely smile. Thank you both.
Review 131:It was so cold in the chalet and the one heater near the TV wasn't adequate. The bedroom was freezing. The bathroom/toilet was in desperate need of a paint. When you closed the toilet door there was a brown stain on the wall which was very off putting.
Review 132:The views and location. It was very quiet. A short walk to the start of Conical Hill which got the heart rate up as you walked up to the lookout. We were so glad that I had only booked one night before spending the second night at The Heritage Hotel, Hanmer Springs.
