Reviews for Hotel Royal Bridges

Review 1:Found some of the staff a little rude, especially when I came 1 minute late to breakfast, when they refused to serve me.

Review 2:Room (very comfortable and clean), SOME of the staff, breakfast was nice (a lot of variety in the food).

Review 3:Some serious cleanliness issues upon arrival (the waste bin in the bathroom had not been emptied and had tissues, beer cans and who knows what more, the toilet itself was not perfectly clean, on towel was stained, dust in some surfaces of the curtain rails which, being it an attic room, with low window height were perfectly on sight), unacceptable for four star.

Review 4:Location, friendliness of reception staff, bed comfort, wi-fi speed.

Review 5:Policy on young children is little tricky. Room is advertised as explicitly accommodating three adults and two babies, but you still have to pay for extra bed for a baby.

Review 6:Very good place if you want to experience atmosphere of Delft - style of rooms, view on a pretty street with small channel, even Delft Blau motive tissues in the breakfast room. In historic city and close to train station. Definitely recommended.

Review 7:We've stayed here several times, so it starts to feel like home. Welcoming and helpful staff, beautiful central location, cosy rooms all a little different, delicious breakfast, fast wifi. Just perfect.

Review 8:In our opinion, the "triple room luxe" was good but not 4-stars as mentioned on the website.

Review 9:Near the centre, nice view, good breakfast and friendly staff

Review 10:Lovely hotel overlooking the canal. Walking distance to train station & old square in Delft. I was traveling with my elderly mother so they gave us a room on the ground floor (no stairs) with walk-in shower overlooking nice courtyard at the back. Clean & comfortable, with a good breakfast & helpful staff.

Review 11:We had twin beds as a couple and mine was too soft and gave me back ache. It was also a bit lower than my wife's. My wife was happy with her bed. (room 208) Otherwise we were very happy. If I wanted to be very finicky I would say the boiled eggs were too hard.

Review 12:Very friendly and helpful staff. This is my third hotel to stay in Delft and by far the most helpful staff.

Review 13:See above

Review 14:Excellent spot. Rooms were very spacious and the staff were very attentive. Breakfast was well done with lots of variety. On the negative side the room had a strong smell of chlorine or similar when we arrived. I left the room window open which got rid of the chemical smell.

Review 15:Nothing bad to report.

Review 16:Hotel is located conveniently to train station and center of Delft, right on the canal. Room was comfortable and clean, no frills. Included breakfast was satisfactory. Staff were very helpful.

Review 17:The water glasses in the room were made of flimsy plastic. I understand why disposables are used but a slightly harder plastic would be appreciated

Review 18:The staff were very helpful. Our room was clean, spacious and well lit with a wonderful view over the adjacent canal. The hotel is perfectly position for a tourist in Delft. Good value all round.

Review 19:Upon arrival we were shown to a room that was ackwardly located next to the breakfast area. The room was also very cold which the staff seemed to find normal and was in a general way not nicely furnished. The heating didn't seem to work at all, at first the staff proposed to give us some electrical heaters which we refused. We then received an appartment that was a clear upgrade. I'm really puzzled how one hotel can offer such dissimilar accomodations. The breakfast really wasn't great either, this hotel gave me the impression of attempting to look expensive in a cheap way. I would not be tempted to go back.

Review 20:The appartment we finally got was very nice and agreeable.

Review 21:Brilliant location, easy walk from the train station and close to the square and great bars and restaurants. Good breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 22:Canal/Street side room(s) can be quite noisy, just as the old building itself from floor above. No decent working table in the (spacious) room. Strange sweet smell in the room (giving headache)

Review 23:Excellent location in the hearth of old city of Delft. 5 min walk from Railway station. Spacious room

Review 24:The staff is the weakest point. They are nice but they are too few, doing multiple things at once (they are at the same time in the kitchen and at the reception desk). They are not really helpful when asking for information.

Review 25:the location is excellent: close to the train station and to the city center the hotel is nice and clean

Review 26:I felt that the furnishings within my room were a little worn and, for the size of the room, a little sparse.

Review 27:Hotel is central. Large rooms. Pleasant, service oriented staff. Traditional, old fashioned atmosphere.

Review 28:No bar or lounge, and although it appeared that a selection of drinks were available from a refrigerated display, there was not always staff on hand.

Review 29:Well situated close to the Market Place. Large Comfortable room with ensuit shower/toilet. Good hot and cold buffet breakfast included in the price.

Review 30:On one morning we hadn't quite left our room when the maid arrived. We told her we'd be a few minutes longer expecting her to come back later. When we returned from our day out, many hours later, our room still hadn't been serviced. We had to ask at the desk for it to be done.

Review 31:Brilliant location, very spacious and comfortable. Great breakfast, staff very helpful.

Review 32:Wow, what can I say, we had no bad experiences!

Review 33:Location to the train station was 5 min by foot, there was three blocks to the central square. Breakfast was complete with many choices from hot to cold, and all delicious! Bedding was high quality and beds were comfortable.

Review 34:We booked this hotel through Booking.com with the expectations of a four star experience. We were disappointed by the extremely small double room, where the carpet looked grubby. However it did have a nice view onto the garden. Room condiments were lacking; cheap plastic and paper coffee cups didn't really help the feeling of being somewhere special. The breakfast buffet was large which was good! Like the rest of the hotel it felt 'quantity over quality'.

Review 35:The Hotel is a beautiful old canal house, very central and convenient for the train station too.

Review 36:No bad experiences, but no parking was an issue for us..... It is however, a great location for walking round Delft. Shops, bars and restaurants on your doorstep

Review 37:Friendly, comfortable hotel. Easy to stay in, clean and fresh.

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:Excellent bedroom and bathroom. Very convenient for exploring Delft. We were able to put our bicycle safely in the hotel's garden back yard overnight.

Review 40:the bathroom was not cleaned properly 2/3 days that I stayed. The room door was locked one night before my check out without prior information because I havent'yet paied.

Review 41:the breakfast was good as well as the view form the room

Review 42:We loved our room overlooking the canal, hearing the church bells in the distance, the close proximity to the train station, the breakfast in the morning, the canal boat tour and the beautiful walkable town of Delft.

Review 43:Room with door on to street is not what is expected of this Hotel atall. This room needs re modelling now. Double sealed doors to stop noisefrom dining area early in morning or move the access door ? This is aB&B type room not at all good for this establishment. Arrival hasconsistently been an exciting time with seemingly intermittent roadworks and builders and furniture crane delivery etc blocking off thecomplete access, issue is where to park while it clears before headingfor the Phoenix underground parking, just have to walk it down thestreet and leave vehicle in an illegal place, hope for the best ! Nospeak English !!! (or Dutch)

Review 44:I have made the same comment before. The larger rooms should all have asettee for at least 3 persons or soft chairs. I notice that one room atleast has this-good. Nice to have the kettle in the room now-good.Remember for leisure travellers of a certain age we need to sit and chatin comfort not at a hard chair. We all get to the stage of less energysome day! Staff were really very good, helpful and willing. Makes itmore like visiting friends-well they are! Breakfast - excellent with thelady there so helpful and also very skilled at the rest of the Hotelorganisation and administration /luggage /bookings etc etc Wow.

Review 45:Location and quirkiness of hotel was appealing. Value OK and room comfortable. WiFi was rubbish and they need to improve the bandwidth. It was like going back to dial-up which for a business user is not ideal. Breakfast acceptable, coffee machine ironically created very tastey coffee.

Review 46:None

Review 47:- Very clean, comfortable, nice room - The location is perfect for tourist - Size of room was larger than other hotels with similar price - Good breakfast options

Review 48:When we arrived the fridge and the safe in the room were not working. The fridge was fixed the other day but the safe was still not working when we left.

Review 49:The room was very clean. The staff are very helpful. The location is perfect. It is s bit too expensive but everything is expensive in Netherland! Me and my family enjoyed staying in this hotel.

Review 50:Close to center city, parking, tram, restaurants, shopping, etc. Staff was great. We arrived before our room was ready. They stored our baggage while we went sightseeing. Upon our return we discovered our bags were already in our room. Yea!

Review 51:4 stars for this hotel is definitely a stretch. Reception closes overnight. Rooms are spartan and not very comfortable. Our shower had a shower curtain that was very dirty.

Review 52:This hotel has a very good location in the center of Delft, in walking distance of everything. Staff is very friendly

Review 53:We were lucky enough to stay in an extremely nice suite opening onto the garden. It was spacious, slightly glamorous and very comfortable! The decorating would warrant a spread in a magazine. I loved the juxtaposition of the old delft tiled hearth with the walk-in shower and stylish furniture. The young man at the reception desk was very attentive and helpful. He helped to insure a perfect stay for us!

Review 54:Could not watch TV from bed because it was only visible from the small seating area.

Review 55:Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast. Sauna in the room was relaxing, furniture very modern and warm (superior room). Big screen TV

Review 56:Toilet by entrance door - no window, fan didn't work and toilet paper dispenser was broken. Could have used the sauna room space for toilet instead.

Review 57:Breakfast Service Room

Review 58:Not all rooms overlook the canal, but that is not really a problem as you should be spending your time out. Stairs inside the studio are steep, so you have to be careful and it is not appropriate for elder people. Hotel price rate was double the first 2 days of our stay.

Review 59:Every thing was perfect in this hotel. I stayed in a studio very well furnished. Best location you would look for. I loved the staff they are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Kitchen very well equipped. A studio in this hotel is a perfect choice for a long stay.

Review 60:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location a few minutes walk to the main square in the centre and is near the train station.

Review 61:The wifi was a bit spotty in our room. Did not work very well.

Review 62:The hotel was lovely and the lobby, breakfast area, and patio were beautiful and very comfortable.

Review 63:Parking situation is (as everywhere in this city) not suitable for big luggage, the hotel itself has no parking zone in front to unload / load suitcases. Depending on the place to park the car, it will cost around 20 to 30 Euros per day.

Review 64:Large, comfortable room with character and excellent views out over the canal. Close to both the centre of town and the train station. Helpful, friendly staff.

Review 65:We had no bad experience at this wonderful hotel though it is relevant to mention the parking (underground parkade) for our vehicle was located several blocks away (a common experience in our travels throughout various countries). The parkade was very clean and well lit though somewhat difficult to find.

Review 66:A warm reception with friendly, informed, efficient staff; a clean, inviting room that has been renovated with a modern sense while retaining traditional elements of the original building. Exceptional location; fantastic breakfast.

Review 67:The location, in a quiet street, looking out to one of the canals but still on walking distance of Delft's center. Breakfast was really good. Wide variety of choices.

Review 68:The very steep staircases! But these seem normal in the Netherlands.

Review 69:The location of the hotel really is fantastic and the staff at the reception were all very friendly and cheerful.

Review 70:Although acceptable, the breakfast was fairly unimaginative - we wished we had just gone B&B so could have legitimately gone to one of the many local cafés serving more unusual and tasty food.

Review 71:Great location. Large spacious rooms.

Review 72:Room was a little dated and, while we were there (28/7), had scaffolding outside the window. Car access tricky!

Review 73:Good location, large room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.

Review 74:Although we mentioned we would like a ground-level room during booking, we got an attic room in the end. It was really smelly (a strong and strange chemical smell)! We had to leave the window open all the time. But it was rainy during the night and the rain came in through the windows. A terrible experience!

Review 75:There was nothing!

Review 76:The location was just lovely! We looked out over the canal on a quiet street. We had to park our car in a parking garage, but it was close by, and we only paid 15 euros for 24 hours. The extensive variety of food for breakfast was delicious! The staff were also very friendly and helpful!!

Review 77:We especially loved the central location of the hotel, with safe parking near by. The ambience of the hotel alongside the canal and outside seating was great.

Review 78:The fruits and hot food selection at breakfast is a little limited e.g. It would be even better to include an egg station.

Review 79:The room is simply furnished but the high and large windows made up for it by allowing in lots of sunlight and breezes. It did not feel hot at all without air conditioning. The staff is very helpful and accommodating - they allowed us to borrow a few towels for visiting the Duinrell Waterpark and directed my husband to a nearby hospital for an emergency consultation.

Review 80:Rooms should have been equipped with air conditioning units - a four star hotel can't really do without

Review 81:Beautiful renovated rooms, beamed rooms with quality feel to them. Really central and close to the square which makes Delft a must see town in the Netherlands

Review 82:We booked our hotel not really knowing what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Greeted by happy faces and made to feel welcome. All the staff were more than happy to give advice on what to see and do. Delft is a beautiful old town with lots of history. The train station is a 5 minutes walk which we used to take us into Rotterdam.

Review 83:The towels were "snached" by the cleaners, even if I could have used them the second day as well, and the same goes for my soap, forcing me to use a brand new one instead of continue using the one from the day before. Small, small environmenal disadvantages, but still, easy to fix. (Yes I know, next time, bring your own soap, if you really care for the environment. And I will...)

Review 84:Excellent hotel, with very nice rooms and excellent beds! Great location in downtown Delft near to city center , very good breakfast and very friendly, and helpful staff. WiFi works perfectly. The only thing that you have to know ,if you come with car, where is a near parking.

Review 85:Nothing negative to say, but a suggestion would be that if they were able to have bikes for the use of hotel guests.

Review 86:A nice size room with a bathroom that is big enough that allows you to brush your hair with out banging your elbows on the walls.

Review 87:Was charged twice by hotel I only stayed in 1 room, booked with booking.com. which came to £1072.00 for 6 night's stay shocking! The fraud squad at my bank are investigating. The hotel didn't let me know they were charging me twice and I didn't authorise the second payment on the 2nd day. So unfair due to no fault of my own.

Review 88:Excellent little hotel, in a quaint building, with very nice rooms and excellent beds! Great location in downtown Delft, great breakfast and very nice staff. The only thing that as missing was the air conditioning (the day was warm).

Review 89:As we stayed in the senior suites the breakfast area, and Reception/ Main entrance locate in other side, we needed to walk with rain having our breakfast on rainy day! Also, about the mattress, too soft, we had asked one of the staff during breakfast time after the first night, to change the hard mattress but nothing happened and nobody came back to us. We just left it.

Review 90:Quiet and spacious room (we stayed in the senior suites in the Ground floor)

Review 91:The hot water took a long time to run through to the bathroom. It seemed liked many minutes. Possibly this was because our room was in annex across a courtyard from the main part of the hotel..

Review 92:Hotel is situated on a quiet canal centred street within a short distance from the railway station and city centre. Our room had its own sauna & jacuzzi. Breakfast was good also and staff very friendly.

Review 93:Although the breakfast was quite adequate, with eggs etc cooked as requested, we felt it was not as good as other similar grand canal hotels. Some comparison with others might be of benefit. No where in the room to sit in comfort at the end of the day before going out for dinner

Review 94:Everything is refurbished and works, beds and bathrooms are excellent although senior suites would greatly benefit from proper settee/chairs and coffee table as there is ample room for such, can't be out sight seeing all the time! Staff are really excellent and extremely helpful, Daniel excelled by finding us alternative accommodation when we arrived a day earlier and chanced a vacancy there. 10/10 The WiFi is really good and works properly with only a password to log in, unlike so many others where their web sites must first be found etc etc 10/10

Review 95:Close to canal, Marina and central district of town. Couldn't fault the room -- had a winding staircase from sitting area and bathroom up to stunning bedroom with wee terrace. So lovely to stay here.

Review 96:Delightful and efficient staff on reception, good dinner recommendation, and step by step guidance on public transport when the local taxis were all busy. Quite adequate breakfast. The wifi worked without problems. Go for the triple room

Review 97:It seemed that the room we stayed in hadn't been used in a while. One of the shelves in the bathroom was dusty and I found a sock under the bed (making sure we didn't leave any toys) and a few condom wrappers (maybe this is a feature but not awesome with nosy kids and one was opened)

Review 98:great location. Great breakfast. Nice atmosphere.

Review 99:My room was a 'deluxe' double, but had nothing to warrant this description. I booked 2 rooms at the same price for myself and another couple. As a single traveller I had a smaller room, their room had a sauna and spa bath hence deserved the 'deluxe' tag.

Review 100:Hotel is an easy walk away from the attractions of Delft. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 101:We booked a Senior Room and found when we got there that not only was the room huge but that the room had its own dry sauna room plus a tub with jets. Very nice. There was a frig and breakfast was generous and good. Good location between train station and central market square.

Review 102:- Streetside rooms can be little noisy at night during weekends

Review 103:+ Friendly and helpfull staff + New and modern interior + Historical Dutch Canal buildings + Close to station and central market + Good wifi

Review 104:Why it is "royal", why it is 4*, why so high booking rating 8.5? Hotel between 2-3 stars with very dirty and ugly rooms. Breakfast was awful - even boiled eggs were out of date and were stinking

Review 105:Its slightly expensive compared to same properties. However, considering what you get, I think its all right and valued for money for twin share.

Review 106:- Hotel is nice, with good ambiance - Staff is friendly and helpful. When I forgot my wallet at the counter, they run after me and gave it back - WiFi works perfectly - Location is right between the old gate, delft centrum and delft station. All within 5-10 mins walk. Very close to theatre de veste (where conference is held). - Got variety of continental breakfast from bread to egg. - Has elevator to hoist your heavy bag which is great. - Towel replaced everyday, got soap, shampoo and body lotion everyday. A good 2-3 star hotel.

Review 107:In bedroom, no plug in wash basin, insufficient coat hangers and drawers for clothes, cardboard cups, no glasses for water, broken lid to kettle, bed lights so placed that it was impossible to sit up in bed to read.

Review 108:Helpful reception staff, good breakfast.

Review 109:central location and quiet friendly helpful staff excellent breakfast good room size and pleasant outlook free wifi generous beverages in room

Review 110:back office in ontbijtzaal - alle interne management en personeel perikelen zijn voelbaar en hoorbaar - gemaakte vriendelijkheid - misleidende 4 star in de naam

Review 111:lokatie is top

Review 112:A lovely hotel -quiet but very central. We had a large room overlooking the canal.Staff very helpful and continental breakfast plentiful.Very pleased with choosing Hotel Royal Bridges.

Review 113:Requirement to pay upfront for full stay on arrival. Utilitarian furniture in bedroom

Review 114:Good mid range hotel with an excellent location in Delft on one of the main canals, less than five minutes walk from railway station. Willing to find us a new room that better met our requirements.

Review 115:The only negative was the beds, whilst reasonably comfortable, they were just two single beds pushed together. My partner and I would rather a double bed and considering the size of the room it would make everything perfect to have a king/queen sized double!

Review 116:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We upgraded to a suite with a jaccuzi bath & sauna. The rooms were massive, the staff friendly &I the breakfast yummy. The hotels located perfectly for exploring Delft. It's also only a few minutes walk to the train station where you can easily get into Amsterdam or other surrounding areas. Wifi connection was also good.

Review 117:Don't trust room 110!!! It's not a delux room at all. It isclean, but it was used to be for a maid (room is occupied with 2 singlebeds, and no walking space even, a window is small and faces aneighbor's roof). Can't accept it's same price with room 105(can see a canal having 3 beautiful French windows). Front desk boytried to explain, but the floor plan tells that room 105 is the smallestroom with no sight.

Review 118:Clean, well maintenanced rooms.

Review 119:Breakfast is ok but nothing fantastic. Fresh tomatoes would be a plus. Bathroom was a bit shabby.

Review 120:Great and spacious room, this time. Staff at reception and breakfast were very friendly.

Review 121:The access to some of the rooms is more dificult if you travel with a big bag, because you have stairs.

Review 122:Localization, next to the train station, and every important place in Delft. Welcome enviroment, very helpful staff.

Review 123:This hotel was a great find! It is located right in the heart of picturesque downtown Delft. The staff is extremely helpful and welcoming, making check-in easy and suggesting nearby restaurants. The room we stayed in was huge, bright and clean, with a very comfortable bed. The typical Dutch breakfast was excellent. Paid parking was available down the street.

Review 124:Nothing to dislike

Review 125:This hotel is only a 10 minute walk to all the sights of delft. There is no parking at the hotel as with the majority in Delft but we used an underground carpark called Zuidpoort just a 10 minute walk from the hotel and a very reasonable charge of 8 euros for 24 hours. We would definately stay at this hotel again, you have a good choice at breakfast, eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, fruit, rolls even doughnuts. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
