Reviews for CocoVilla Boutique Resort

Review 1:First of all, this ''hotel'' is not situated in a tourist area of Sri Lanka. There is absolutely nothing to do around here. When we booked the ''hotel'' it was advertised as a 4*. This is a huge lie and the ''hotel'' is actually a Bed & Breakfast. You can not exit or enter the ''hotel'' without ringing the bell and getting one of the staff to let you in or out.Apparently it has one restaurant. The restaurant being 4 chairs in the middle of the grass area. On the menu there are approximately 6 dishes and not only do you have to order your food two hours in advance but it is stupidly expensive. The coffee they serve is by far the worst coffee I have ever had. It tastes what I can only imagine chalk tastes like.If you wish to use the safe you have to pay extra. With your room you only get free bottled water on the first night. After the first night you do not even get water for free. This would be absolutely fine if the room was a quarter of the price of what we paid. But seeing how much we paid for our accommodation you would expect a bottle of water each day for free. Our transport from and to the ''hotel'' was organised by the ''hotel''. Not only did they use a terrible exchange rate and we ended up getting overcharged but on the way to the ''hotel'' there was a cockroach in the car. On the way back the driver's driving was so bad it is a miracle we made it to the airport in one piece. The beach is small and dirty. The swimming pool is in fact a pond. The staff at the ''hotel'' will not leave you alone for a single minute. They follow you around and are constantly interrupting your conversation with your friends. I think they think they are being friendly but in fact they are just plain rude.If you decide to stay here you will constantly feel like you are staying in someone's house and will not find it relaxing.

Review 2:Setting of the villa. The beach is small and very crowded.

Review 3:The place is beautiful and you feel like in a little paradise. The garden is amazing, with beuatiful garden furniture, outside beds and many plant trees. The room is modern and the outdoor bathroom is just perfect and makes your morning and evening bathing ritual very extraordinary. We only missed the fridge in the room to cool some drinks and fruit. The staff is very helpful, caring and very professional! The cook is good, but the prices are quite high.

Review 4:The bathrooms ! (All of them outside, except one, very ugly without hot water at the sink) The prices (room and food), excessivly expensive for this region.

Review 5:The staff, so welcoming and helpfull

Review 6:everything, location, accommodation, layout of property, ambiance, unique innovative decorative features, service, excellent food and mostly very warm welcome from owners,

Review 7:none

Review 8:“We stayed one night at the Coco Villa resort”. We arrived late. On morning, it was an amazing surprise : a nice villa, a wonderful garden with elegant furnitures, a wild sandy beautiful beach... The boss is a very kind man. He made his best for our (too) short stay. The room was very clean with two bathroom, one inside, one outside ! Very nice breakfast. The only (little) negative point...no direct view to outside from our bedroom (but other bedrooms are different). So, go to Coco Villa resort in Berewula, Sri Lanka !” Annette and Frédéric BEAUMONT Saint-Pierre et Miquelon (French Islands in North America near Canada)

Review 9:accommodation basic, external bathroom looked cool but insects and night time visits not cool.

Review 10:Beach, pal tree external areas and overall exterior aesthetic

Review 11:The resort itself was isolated. Beautiful beaches but nothing else. So if you are looking for relaxation and good food it is ideal.

Review 12:The gardens and leisure beds are excellent. Hammocks to sink into just one of the beds to choose to take the sun. The outside bathroom was amazing. Showering in the open air is a great experience. Our host Samal was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 13:We stayed at Cocovilla for 4 nights and loved everything abouts this place! The owner and host Sumal has created a beautiful resort. Very relaxing, and unique. We where lucky and had the whole resort to ourselves, since it was in low season. We liked that it´s small resort, gives you the feeling of exclusivity. And the food was fabulous. We recommend this warmly.

Review 14:Breakfast Gets very dark after sunset

Review 15:A very nice and quiet place on the beach ideal to enjoy the sound of the waves. The resort has just 5 rooms, which means there can only be a maximum of 10 adults when full unlike other crowded resorts. It is tastefully decorated throughout and has beautiful palm trees all over. The owner lives on-site and is very helpful and friendly.

Review 16:Not much to say here, beautiful resort with excellent facilities.

Review 17:Facilities Staff Food

Review 18:Paradise hotel only 30 minutes drive south of Colombo alongside a beautiful sandy private beach. The host (Samal) and his team do an excellent job in making you feel at home the minute you enter the big green garden with an ambiance of peace and tranquillity. Spending 20 years in Europe, Samal found a perfect balance of European comfort combined with Sri Lankan atmosphere in his self-designed hotel. Don't forget to try the curry with mama's special sauce, it's delicious.

Review 19:You must be verbal about your needs and wants. If you want your roomcleaned every day, then say so, it is not an automatic service. Thereis only a sheet on the bed, and the linen and towels could be updated. The food is more expensive than I was hoping (entrees around $16 aperson). The menu is limited if you are staying for more than a coupleof nights. Cocktails and drinks are limited. Restaurant closes at 8 pm,so bring snacks.

Review 20:This is a family run resort and is very quaint and private. The beach isprivate. You will not experience any haggling on the beach orinteraction with local vendors. The lounge areas are very nice. Thegrounds are kept clean every day. If you are looking to read a book, relax by the beach and simply rest this is a great place to do so. Youcan easily arrange day trips.

Review 21:Fixed breakfast time (9am)... but worth it nonetheless...

Review 22:Super friendly welcome, with lanldord dedicated to guests' wellbeing. Wonderfully located on a quiet sandy beach, with a private tropical garden: ideal for strolling and relaxing. Food is original, copious and delicious. Our room was fabulous, huge, comfortable and with an exotic outdoor (but private) bathroom. 100% Magic!

Review 23:Wonderfully relaxing and originally furnished large garden facing the beach. Simple but elegant rooms and bathrooms. Friendly staff.

Review 24:The dinner food was double price compared to nearby hotel. Also, it was a bit far from Bentotta.

Review 25:Relaxing beach setting an cleanness.
