Reviews for Svinøya Rorbuer
Review 1:Nothing really but if you prefer reliable wi fi and room service/breakfast included stick to 5 star.
Review 2:We loved the authentic feel of the place. The facilities were self contained and the staff were accommodating and friendly. Very affordable comparatively and within one of the tourist highlights for the area. Could walk to town centre despite snowy conditions. The Lofoten Islands were awesome overall. Spectacular scenery, friendly people and fascinating history.
Review 3:Nil
Review 4:NAccessible location (15mins walk from ferry pier) , peaceful and quiet lovely rorbuer with amazing inside decoration. Clean and comfortable. Nice view from the rorbuer(our rorbuer is 22)
Review 5:Booking.com send through an extra bed which was not required so we had to be but later corrected by hotel
Review 6:Great spacious cabin with superb view. Nice and clean and good facilities such as internet, good shower and working heating system.
Review 7:For solo female travellers coming from Bodo by ferry, the location can be a challenge, as the ferry arrives at 10 in the evening and leaves at 6:30 in the morning. It's a 20-minute walk in the cold and dark, over the long and high bridge alone. It was scary for me as I was traveling alone this first week of November and it was windy and cold. It's a different story if you're traveling in summer and with someone or in a group.
Review 8:If you end up in the cabin where I stayed, number 24, the mountain is right in front of the cabin and since it's in the corner, you also get unobstructed views of the sea on the right. The cabin has facilities like hot water in the shower, TV, coffee and tea maker and refrigerator.
Review 9:The breakfast spread was adequate and expensive... but if the coffee is poor it leaves a bad impression. That's the only complaint was the coffee. :)
Review 10:Authentic cabin house with a living room. Single beds were adequate. We had a full kitchen so we were able to bake frozen pizza. Really nice place. We walked to our cabin from the ferry.
Review 11:House 40, really amazing! Casa 40, preciosa, acogedora, en definitiva: Ideal. Pudimos ver la aurora por todo el cielo. Amazing to see Northern lights!
Review 12:We did not have a car and it is a 20 minute walk into town. It is extremely simple and rustic, but we like that. If someone wants fancy amenities, they should not stay here. A few things in the self catering kitchen did not work properly, and we informed the management. Not a big problem.
Review 13:The location is spectacular, with incredible views from our cabin, #23. The staff was very helpful.
Review 14:The only thing i didn't like was that the lounge area was quite dark due to the small windows and the bedroom was quite small, as were the twin beds.
Review 15:Small old fishermans cottage in peaceful location not too far from the centre of Svolvaer.
Review 16:What an amazing location and a unique and authentic place to stay! Fishing village, total charm and a magnificent place to walk! Would highly recommend to anyone! We would have loved to stay a lot longer!
Review 17:No hot water after midnight, which was quite convenient since we went out to take advantage of the midnight sun
Review 18:Good location and authentically restored rorbu cabin
Review 19:No hair dryer. Mattresses a bit thin
Review 20:Very cute cabins. Luckily we were in a cabin that was directly on the water... If we had been in a lower numbered cabin, I wouldn't have enjoyed our stay at all as they are far back from the water. Nice view and the cabin was well equipped. Breakfast was $20 per person but a large buffet and a great value.
Review 21:We came to Svolvaer in the end of april, and all the big"SKREI" was gone. So we had to buy our fish at COOP,so wedid´nt starve. We did´nt se many norwegians in Svolvaer.
Review 22:The Rorbu was very well equipped for selfcatering, and the beds wasvery good. The boknafisk was amazing. Viggo dt & Roger fromStrömstad Sweden.
Review 23:There are no chopping board in the kitchen. Like seriously?
Review 24:Good location, albeit still quite a walk from the harbor. With luggage to carry around, we took a cab instead.
Review 25:We couldn't use the stove in the kitchen, there was no heating in the bathroom and it was quite a walk to the town centre.
Review 26:The cottage looked very nice.
Review 27:- WiFi connection sometimes unstable - fry pan in very bad condition
Review 28:- large house with plenty of space - quit and relaxing - fast exchange of defectous fry pan
Review 29:nothing
Review 30:we had a cottage with a view of the fjords and the mountains - it was the perfect place, the staff were great and organised us an incredible snow shoe hike which i cannot recommend enough!
Review 31:The tiny TV but eh, doesn't really matter much.
Review 32:We loved everything. The nice, big and spacious bathroom, the lounge, the scenery, the staff. Very cute place and very happy to have come.
Review 33:Would be perfect if there was an oven in the kitchen!
Review 34:We were given rorbruer 22. This was facing the sea so we had a really good view of the scenery! Rorbruer was spacious and comfortable, with lodge style decor. We also ate at the restaurant which serves great stockfish and had a beautiful ambience.
Review 35:We loved the place! Location, views, coziness of the "little chalet"... We even saw the northern lights from the living room at 4am in the morning. The restaurant was excellent, great food and the service was top. Waiter (unfortunately I don't remember his name) was nice and talkative - explained several things about the region...
Review 36:We were coming in on the Møskenes ferry that arrived at 3:30 am meaning we would be arriving at Nusfjord around 4:30 am. Jim was kind enough to leave a key out and heaters on for our Rorbu. SO MUCH better than sleeping in the car at the ferry dock. Everything else about this place was similarly thoughtful and pleasant.
Review 37:Only negative, one morning we were woken up early by the industrial warehouse across the water. But having extra hours on the Lofoten isn't a bad thing!
Review 38:We loved our stay with Svinoya Rorbuer and found its cozy charm and stunning location to make it the best rorbu we stayed in while visiting Lofoten. The staff was always enthusiastically helpful, suggesting other beautiful locations to visit, and making phone calls for us when our phone wasn't working.
Review 39:The Wi-Fi could be patchy at times.
Review 40:Probably the best place to stay in town if you don't mind catering for yourself. Had a lovely Rorbu and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The apartments are well equipped and nicely furbished, simply worth revisiting again and again!
Review 41:I liked that in a two bedroom cottage there wear two bathrooms as well which was more convenient for is compare to other cottages we have stayed at previously
Review 42:Unfortunately we had no privacy or security with people walking past every window . The water right next to us was really grotty drainage area at low tide. Very narrow single beds.
Review 43:The view from outside the front door when cars weren't parked there . Some nice nearby walks
Review 44:Kitchen lacked a few implements. No kettle. Thin curtains if you sleep badly in the light (eye shade needed (summer))
Review 45:Big windows over looking the harbour. Large lounge. Close to whales centre. 20 mins walk to airport.
Review 46:n/a A cabin over the waterA
Review 47:the comfort and especially two full bathrooms
Review 48:Charming old buildings. Great seaside location.
Review 49:Very few buses connecting you to the other islands.
Review 50:The cute fisherman houses and amazing surroundings.
Review 51:It gives a comfortable feeling, such as the addition of a small basket to put the toilet things would be better
Review 52:A microwave in the kitchen would have made the accommodation excellent.
Review 53:Location,staff,bedrooms were cozy and comfortable.
Review 54:Location inside the Place
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:Great location, good view, great facility, we were all very excited about staying there.
Review 57:Transport to and from the town centre can be difficult - we were seriously overcharged by a taxi service
Review 58:Magnificent scenery
Review 59:Quite expensive, the cleaning fee
Review 60:Perfect location and perfect Rorbuer. Must stay. It is a very unique experience.
Review 61:Superbe endroit, charmant, à 5' du centre ville! Très bon resto derrière la réception !
Review 62:Charm
Review 63:location
Review 64:Bed too soft; kitchen not fully equipped particularly no frying pan; room view just average
Review 65:Good location
Review 66:The location which is not within walking distance of town centre
Review 67:The cabin experience
Review 68:Slow WiFi.
Review 69:Sauna, bed, view.
Review 70:N/A
Review 71:Very cozy, beautiful scene, supermarket is just 5min drive, kitchen
Review 72:Cosy cabin with a wood burner, comfy beds, good views from all rooms
Review 73:Staff is kind but they could help more the guests. The price is quite high.
Review 74:Restaurant, breakfast, houses.
Review 75:our house near by a smelly river.
Review 76:friendly staff and good scenery. we saw northern night during we stayed.
Review 77:There is two bedroom, but one of them is so cold.
Review 78:The house is clean and comfortable. We all love it. But the one we lived is not nearby the sea
Review 79:No hairdryer
Review 80:Cozy & comfortable living room. Spacious. Well equipped kitchen. Warm bathroom
Review 81:Restaurant good but expensive robuer great
Review 82:None.
Review 83:Comfortable clean and spacious!
Review 84:The position of the traditional fisherman's cottage provided a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery
Review 85:Very cozy!
Review 86:Please be aware cleaning fee not included with Booking.com price, but it is mandatory to pay for the cleaning fee when check-in.
Review 87:very poor breakfast, very expensive,I can find for this price much better hotel
Review 88:good location
Review 89:The photos are not of the cabins - one is misled into thinking that you have a great view but most have NO view except for a small lagoon and a few factory type buildings.
Review 90:I think they need heavier blinds for the bedrooms for summer because it's very light all night and makes sleeping hard.
Review 91:We loved staying here, it was so lovely and peaceful as well as appearing 'authentic'
Review 92:Low season, too quiet. Not much choices for eating out. Far away from the city centre or supermarkets. No activities could be done
Review 93:The cozy, clean and big room. Beautiful scenery outside room.
Review 94:The wi-fi was rather slow and the view from the cabin could have been better. Actually it is better from some of the other cabins, so bad luck I guess. :)
Review 95:Nice location near the center of Svolvaer, beautiful surroundings almost wherever you go, really clean and atmospheric cabin and actually liked the smell of cod outside. Pretty sweet and authentic. The town was rather quiet in April, but that's why we went there in the first place... :D
Review 96:Typically expensive.
Review 97:The cabins are authentic and rustic but this adds to the experience. Very warm and cosy, heated bathroom flooring. Excellent beds, stunning view and the perfect location for touring Lofoten.
Review 98:Perfect place for travellers who value peace and quiet. Excellent food in the fish restaurant (Børsen Spiseri). Great view from our little cottage. Would have stayed even longer if the holiday was longer. Would recommend this place.
Review 99:Parking was not adjacent to the Rorbu, and it was not obvious - a polite neighbour kindly informed us.
Review 100:Location and comfort was good, with good facilities
Review 101:liked it all
Review 102:we thought it was a lovely cosy place to come back to after being out all day exploring a beautiful but a very cold Norway. it seemed very much home from home. would love to stay there again perhaps in the summertime
Review 103:No public transportation go hotel directly. But local people is very nice, and the distance from the nearest bus stop to hotel is 20 minutes by walk.
Review 104:Nice staff, clean room, and convenient facilities. We can see beautiful sunrise/sunset and northern light from hotel room (my room number was No.24).
Review 105:Location of rorbuer is awesome! It`s closer to the most romantic place in Svolver - pier and famous fish dryers. And it`s in front of the best restaurant in the city also!
Review 106:Slightly higher prices than expected in restaurant but still very good
Review 107:Staff were excellent, area great for walking everywhere, beautiful mountains and northern lights, nothing a bother for staff to help you with, restaurant very good
Review 108:The snow was melting on us due to rain and warmer temperature in late October. Can't blame Svinoya Rorbuer, though.
Review 109:We asked for cabins with view of the harbour and we got assigned/upgraded to three cabins as requested. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Nice restaurant Borsen Spiseri -- but book in advance when you have a large group in slack season. Very close to the town -- across the bridge -- and nice walks around.
Review 110:expensive, location is far from down town, better for self-drive tourist. BTW, it's so inconvinence to take the luggage to cabin from parking area when rainning.
Review 111:good view and facility
Review 112:The staff was very friendly and helpful. They will gladly advice regarding tracks in the area. The cabins are neat and fully equipped. The view from the cabin is great.
Review 113:The cottages are from a short distance from the city centre - reserve time for walking over the bridge if you don´t have a car.
Review 114:Very friendly staff, clean cottages in a very beautiful area. Reception also organized for us an enjoyable fishing tour with professional fisherman! That was the best part of our trip.
Review 115:As noted nearby, the manager/staff were indifferent and the attitudewas simply appalling. We traveled thousands of miles and these guyscouldn't lift a finger to help. Understand it is a small biz butlaziness is no excuse.
Review 116:The experience could be nice and different but the one thing that ruinseverything is a poor attitude. This manager has that in spades
Review 117:It was almost very clean! They wiped the floor with a mob, I guess, from left to right because there were still a lot of long grey hairs. And the heater and ventilator in the bathroom were very dusty. This you see in many place. But I just don't get it! They are objects as any other and therefor should be cleaned too. They didn't clean the rorbu for the whole week. For that price it is a no go!
Review 118:We were in rorbu number 5 for one week in August. The view was on a little inlet and was pretty quiet. It was a rorbu with one bedroom. That's a big word. Just 2 beds fitted in there and a little side table. That's all! But because there is a living/dining/kitchen area, you have enough room to put your suitcases there. And there was a bathroom. As I understood, most bathrooms in Norway (don't know in new buidings) are very small. So was this one, although the shower was larger than normal. It all looked 'rustique', except for the tv. Clean towels and sheets as many as you want but you have to ask the reception. The area is magic and very central to visit a big part of the Lofoten. And the restaurant Børsen Spiceri is very good. Both Highly recommended!
Review 119:Very confortable and pleasant living at the site surrounded with fantastic scenery. Appartement was very practically designed and very well equiped. We appreciated the possibility of good breakfast in the main building.
Review 120:the panorama view over the harbour of Svolvaer is fantastic. The guests can see every evening two Hurtigline ships coming in and going out. The comfort and the design of the apartments are excellent.
Review 121:Need heavier blinds as light made it difficult to sleep. Need screens on windows. Although not many flying insects, there were some that made there way into the cabin.
Review 122:location was great. Good floorplans and good value since we ate meals in the cabin. A definite recommnedation with the two caveats of what we didnt like.
Review 123:Price! Breakfast not included.
Review 124:We stayed in Cabin No.30, a 2-bedroom cabin on the waterfront. Small as it is, it is very cosy, comfortable, and well equipped. The 2 bathrooms really meets our need. And, the kitchen has everything to offer.
Review 125:Floors dirty and covered in hair from previous occupant. Access on foot limited to walking over long bridge with no footpath.
Review 126:Great renovation of old fisherman cottage
Review 127:A bit expensive (cheapest bottle of wine in restaurant £40!)
Review 128:Wonderful comfortable cabin in superb location overlooking mountains and water. Friendly helpful staff and good restaurant.
