Reviews for Barossa Weintal Hotel Complex

Review 1:Pool not operating with staff offering various excuses for why not ranging from dog had gone swimming to poor readings, none of which we believed. We note from previous reviews it had not been open for the previous two weeks either, staff need to be honest what problem is and get on top of it quickly Noisy A/C. Complex is starting to look dated. Free wi fi but patchy and very slow.

Review 2:Friendly staff, and good meals Complex is quiet, with no road noise Breakfast is good value

Review 3:Didnt know the pool was closed, had planned to swim & have a spa. Instant coffee for breakfast, woukd be nice to have filtered available

Review 4:Clean room.

Review 5:Pool was under maintenace during all two days, continental breakfast includes no ham or cheese but only seet food, the wifi connection was very unstable

Review 6:In walking distance from Peter Lehmann and Langmeil wineries, large rooms

Review 7:It did look a lot better on the internet - sort of newer and shinier. In reality there were cigarrette butts on the stair wells, and the rooms were much more 'motel' than 'hotel.

Review 8:The pool was out of order, but on the last night they upgraded our room to compensate.

Review 9:WIfi in guest rooms really slow if availabe at all, Breakfast stops at 9.00 am already, insufficient replentishment of the few attractive breakfast items, Pool closed over four days because of bad water quality without visible effort to change situation

Review 10:reception staff very friendly

Review 11:We booked the hotel because we expected hot weather and it had a pool . On arrival the pool was out of order and our room hot. We told our disappointment to the receptionist who was polite and sympathetic. Shortly after she arranged to transfer us to a spa unit. This was ideal, and we enjoyed our stay.

Review 12:Excellent location to explore the Barossa. The price included a nice buffet-style continental breakfast, with a cooked breakfast available for an extra charge. The restaurant was convenient with a good selection of meals. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The spa unit was spacious and comfortable.

Review 13:Swimming pool and spa was included in the room price however was not available due to its maintenance. Therrwas no substitute for that facility.

Review 14:Air con, bed and all facilities were good.

Review 15:Staff very friendly, facilities fine and food plentiful. I'd read a few reviews which were offputting but nothing bad transpired, had a really good stay.

Review 16:About 25-30 minutes walk to the town centre if you wanted to go out in the evening without driving

Review 17:Spacious and comfortable room. Good value. Bike hire a great way to tour the vineyards

Review 18:On arrival the receptionist was not very pleasant. I also object to having to produce my driver's licence then having it photocopied. This was the only place this happened in 4 weeks of staying in South Australian accommodation. Other staff were friendly and helpful

Review 19:The continental breakfast was adequate and served in nice surroundings. We appreciated the air conditioner being turned on whilst we were out because it was such a hot day.

Review 20:There were obvious dirty marks in the bathroom and the main bed room that were easily shifted with a simple clean. Demonstrating the cleaning process for the room was sub standard.

Review 21:There was a bush fire near Barossa just before we arrived and during our stay there was a sandstorm, that forced us to stay indoors.

Review 22:We were allocated spacious and comfortable rooms.

Review 23:The shower stall had mould around the base tiles. The taps on the wash hand basin were loose.Because of the Christmas set up we had to have our breakfast on Christmas morning outdoors.

Review 24:The Christmas lunch was very good with a full range of fish, meat and all the trimmings.

Review 25:We especially booked this hotel because it has a pool. Sadly it was closed for maintenance the 3 days we were there! The rooms were clean but pillows and mattress need upgrading. Not ideal for those with allergies. The centre of town is 1.9kms away. We didn't have a car so was a decent walk into town (not really a negative, just recommending you have a car).

Review 26:The staff were friendly and helpful in both the reception and bar. We were able to hire bikes directly from the hotel which saved us a lot of time. There was a good range of options available in the continental breakfast. Aircon was cool. Good sized room and bathroom.

Review 27:One little mishap, the cleaner forgot to empty the bin and drawer in the bathroom. Otherwise perfect!

Review 28:Great place to relax. Very nice rooms and good food at the restaurant. Don't miss "Curry Night". It was to die for!

Review 29:Some parts of the room seem a bit dated but otherwise nothing to stress about. The water pressure and quality of the shower was lacking some bit. Would be nice if this was modernised.

Review 30:Price was affordably priced for the location and for the job done with the room basic no frills, stay for the night as cheap as you can sorta feeling. If you're not fussy it'll get the job done as a cheap place to stay the night, in a centrally located/convenient spot, which is what we were after as a young couple just there to tour the wineries.

Review 31:There were no rails on the pool or spa which made it very difficult for us The furniture had bird pooh on it which had been there for quite a while.

Review 32:The garden, the staff, the meals and the room were good.

Review 33:Nothing. Thought the heat (weather) could have been cooled down!!!!

Review 34:We liked the staff, price of room, excellent Asian food dinner, liked Coronas at the bar but they were pricy. We made use of the pool on the heat. Overall the entire experience was good.

Review 35:Not enough sound proofing for the screaming, running children in the room above.

Review 36:The size of the room and having enough space for a lounge as well as the bed, with still plenty of room to move.

Review 37:No unpleasant experiences.

Review 38:Loved the garden walk to breakfast the outlook again toward the garden. The continental breakfast included the quietness of the location back from the road and the big plus was the restaurant of fine quality meals only a pleasant walk away.

Review 39:The Staff really were the core of how happy we were staying there. They were friendly and most helpful in making our stay memorable. Originally staying for one night but stayed for two instead.

Review 40:The bed was hard, but that could be just an individual thing.

Review 41:The staff were outstanding, Susan, Sonia, Lisa....everyone was so helpful. Hotel is very centrally located to the Barossa Valley region. The breakfast was very good.

Review 42:Thought disabled room would have diabled car park, had to park next to stairwell, had to watch hubby getting out without hitting door

Review 43:Quiet and central for what we needed Staff friendly and helpful

Review 44:Ate in dining room "curry night". Taste of food 10/10 but unfortunately cold. Friends said breakfast in dining room same. Pump noise presumably from swimming pool was a bit annoying

Review 45:Welcoming staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Beautiful breakfast

Review 46:The place is for sale so there is no maintainance done, the place is no where as big as in the pictures, we were checking it out for the possibility of holding a re-union for 45-50 couples but the facilities would be to cramped.

Review 47:Our studio was very nice and we enjoyed its facilities very much. Our young waitress, Jacinta, was very good and helpful at all times. Food was good too!

Review 48:Only thing that arose was a rowdy group that had no respect for the other people in the complex. After taking to reception we now realise that we should have contacted the night manager to assist with this.

Review 49:Staff were helpful and friendly, facility was well laid out and comfortable. Excellent as a base to visit places of interest in the Barossa Valley.

Review 50:The rooms are dated. Bathroom could be a little cleaner.

Review 51:It's location to the Barossa Valley. The breakfast was a nice incentive. It was a good continental breakfast. The host was lovely.

Review 52:issues with TV, despite advertising no WIFI in room

Review 53:friendly staff, particular ?Jacinta responsible for the smooth run of the breakfast buffet, good location

Review 54:Cleanliness. Stains in the pillow case. My room was missed out the housekeeping in the first day. Although they offer me upgrade to another room, it spent me some holidays time to repack and move. Wi-fi not stable and slow at night.

Review 55:Convenient location.

Review 56:Just the lingering smell of the curry after 'curry night'.

Review 57:The staff were very approachable and friendly. It was easy to find, and the price was right.

Review 58:I had the roast and would only class it as fair, I know it was the special, but if the roast does not measure up the rest of the food is suspect. A good roast is a good indicator of the dining room

Review 59:Nice and quiet

Review 60:Spacious, comfortable and a quiet locality and close to the centre of Tanunda. On a Friday evening the Curry Night in the restaurant was excellent value and a very pleasing meal. The Continental breakfast was equally good with plenty to choose from. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Review 61:There were several persons (obviously locals) in the bar using indecent language very loudly. Staff did not request them to cease which resulted in us having our evening meal at another location. We had intended to dine at the motel dining room.

Review 62:Friendly, efficient staff with the 'country pub' atmosphere in a modern surround. All you can eat 'Continental Breakfast' with a wide selection of food, fruit & juices.

Review 63:Needs some TLC and the plumbing is very poor you waste more water adjusting it than having a the shower

Review 64:The staff and cleanliness and doing the there job to there best .

Review 65:Overall the accommodation and amenities were good, however, dirty grout on floor tiles and some wall tiles in the shower area is not acceptable cleanliness. Bleach could easily be used to remedy this. The stairs and verandah outside rooms also could benefit from a good clean.

Review 66:The position of the motel/hotel is close to Tununda town centre. Our meal in the dining room was lovely with generous portions and lovely fresh ingredients. Breakfast was also generous.

Review 67:Great value for money. A comfortable property, with an excellent included breakfast. Great bistro meals, including a fantastic curry buffet on Friday nights.

Review 68:The staff in breakfast room very rude to another person who had some hot food as there were no signs to which food you could or could not have luckily we didn't take anything because then that staff member grabbed the plate and took it away .

Review 69:Staff at front desk very nice bedroom very nice

Review 70:Bathroom would benefit from individual heating; and the tiles are very slippery when wet.

Review 71:I enjoyed the overall cleanliness of the accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 72:Nice motel in a central location. A good buffet breakfast was included. We were fortunate enough to get a complimentary upgrade to a room with a spa bath.

Review 73:Nothing to fault this place is absolutely fantastic.

Review 74:We stayed in the spa suite and the spa itself was marvellous! From checking in and during the whole stay, management and staff were so welcoming and friendly, the room was clean and well kept. The bed was the most comfortable bed and we have just about travelled the world and slept in a lot of beds so this says a lot!

Review 75:staff were very nice and I could stay in one facility for the entire night. Had a drink at the bar before dinner, nice dinner and then popped to the bottle shop for an after dinner sip. Room and bathroom was clean

Review 76:Cracked sink. Bathroom needs a good spring clean. No inhouse movies. Survey didnt inc travel with sister!didnt know could bring pet.

Review 77:Restaurant and bottle shop. Friendly staff.

Review 78:Enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Barossa Weintal . Great Service, Comfortable Room and Great Breakfast. Excellent Location. Would stay there again next time we visit the Barossa!

Review 79:Bathroom full of mold, either scolded in shower or frozen no in between. Food in restaurant was not very nice, hot breakfast was cold and horrible, no help from staff to work coffee machine all in all a pretty horrible experience and will not be back

Review 80:Not much

Review 81:The hotel rooms were tired and in need of updating, along with the rooms heating which was less than efficient. The continental breakfast supplied was not a continental breakfast and very basic.

Review 82:The food at the restaurant was for evening meal was reasonably good.

Review 83:We arrived late in the day and we were made so welcome by Cathy. The room was lovely and spacious, having a separate living area and a large bathroom with a spa. We ate at the Hotel restaurant and the food was delicious, especially the Tai oysters.

Review 84:Not really walking distance to other restaurants

Review 85:Lovely studio room, with great spa.Quiet and comfortable room.heating worked well on a very cold night.

Review 86:Dining room/breakfast room was lovely and spacious and the waitress at breakfast was just so helpful and extremely pleasant - first morning complimentary breakfast very much appreciated

Review 87:Decor Needs updating. Bed soft, could feel springs & pillows hard. Air con noisy. Self serve coffee machine at breakfast although the coffee was good. Ironing board cover needs replacing as left bits on clothes.

Review 88:Reception staff friendly. Good location. Great price.

Review 89:Old and cracked bathroom. Having to go front bar to order and pick up food. Food was very expensive and not great quality. Coffee in rooms disgusting. Wifi wasn't strong enough.

Review 90:Clean

Review 91:Bathroom sink didn't drain properly, water kettle leaked, wifi very slow, heating system noisy (I thought the neighbors were playing loud video games but it was the heating system), no microwave, poor lighting, and one night we had no hot water. Bathroom could use towel racks in the sink and shower area. For what we paid for the "spa suite", I was surprised it only included a continental breakfast and if we wanted anything hot, we had to pay an additional $8 per person. Closet only had 4 coat hangers.

Review 92:Good location, nice quality wood furniture, quiet (when the heater was off).

Review 93:Shower was hot and cold in the morning but fine at night time. Lots of parking and you could park close to room.

Review 94:Meals at the hotel were outstanding - in particular the seafood topping.

Review 95:The breakfast was not explained well and had to pay extra for bacon etc. but of a let down considering price

Review 96:Good for what we need just a place to sleep.

Review 97:No teaspoons in room for tea/coffee. Only one young waitress at breakfast and she was rushed off her feet. No instructions on how to use coffee machine at breakfast.

Review 98:Good location. Quiet.

Review 99:Some water spill from shower on to bathroom floor in our room- apart from that, nothing to worry

Review 100:our room was cleaned on the morning of day 2 ! Bed made and all!

Review 101:Staff were good and location was fine but the motel is a bit tired. Not very soundproof as we could listen to the tv next door when we turned ours off.

Review 102:Ample parking. Check in friendly and efficient. Large room. Lounge and coffee table plus work desk available. Very comfortable bed. Internet was working well.

Review 103:We had breakfast vouchers and then paid an extra $8 per adult to get the hot buffet breakfast that was cold

Review 104:Location was good and pretty good value for money

Review 105:Found property to be not very clean, including inside room and walking areas, including stairs to rooms. Beds were extremely hard to the point of being uncomfortable.

Review 106:The wifi in the lobby was fast, slow in room. This was one of cheaper places to stay and it shows. Old, reasonably clean room, terrible bed, cheap budget hotel, but because it is barossa, it is super expensive. If you have neighbors you will be able to hear every word. Won't stay here again. Restaurant smelled good, but we didn't eat the food.

Review 107:Please note the only positives I gave were staff and location and the review is still a 4.6

Review 108:We are not sure if the woman greeting us has a problem with motor bike riders but she certainly was not courteous. We are not bikies but bikers! We were in Tanunda for a fundraising ride for suicide and depression, not to be looked down at however she may have just been having a bad day.

Review 109:The bed was very comfortable and the gardens are beautiful. There were many people there attending a garden wedding which made the atmosphere wonderful!

Review 110:WiFi was slow.

Review 111:Quiet location in walking distance to a number of top local wineries. The food in the restaurant is excellent value for money and room service is also available.

Review 112:Bathroom was dirty with mould in the shower and hair (not ours) already in the shower on arrival.

Review 113:Good location (stayed up there for one night for a wedding at Maggie Beer). Bed and linen were nice.

Review 114:The pool was not very clean with lots of leaves in the water and the sun loungers looked very dirty

Review 115:Friendly staff, nice restaurant, good location, huge room and spa bath

Review 116:I told the receptionist that we will be arriving before mid-night and I was told that someone will always be there and will help you out to check in and also there will be a phone that you can use to get access. When we reached, I knocked the door, and the staff were just looking at us and didn't bother to open the door or come and talk to us. One person came close to the door, simple stared at us and turned back. We had no clue what has been happening. I then tried a phone but it didn't work either. We then had no other options other than knocking the door, finally he opened the door and gave the access. The phone in the room did not work until next morning. Overall it was a frustrating experience. Otherwise hotel room and other facilities were good. May be if we had checked in during the business hours, all would have been good.

Review 117:The only fault we found was the fridge had been turned off and it leaked water when we got it going. In 41 degree day the air conditioner struggled but it is on the hottest wall of the building.

Review 118:The location was very central to the sights and sounds of the Barossa Valley. We booked on a budget and felt we got value for money.

Review 119:You can't expect international standards but that is true of many hotels/ motels in Australia. They seem to have their own rating system. There were hair in the shower cubicle when we arrived. The bed sheets were off white and a bit creased so I kept wondering if it had been changed.

Review 120:The location is very central with easy access to the main wineries.

Review 121:It was all good and suited our purposes and needs well

Review 122:Right in the heart of Tanunda and the gateway to the entire Barossa region. Value for money, spacious room, clean, easy access, helpful and welcoming staff. Ideal for our three day stop during teh Barossa Gourmet Weekend.

Review 123:found empty beer bottles in the room under the curtains and coffee table, bed was exceptionally firm

Review 124:great staff upon arrival and breakfast staff also great

Review 125:WiFi was very poor - maybe it was overloaded. Bottled water would be appreciated for drinking and making tea. Are microwaves provided in Studio Units?

Review 126:A nice quiet location with no traffic noise and pleasant surrounds. We really appreciated the upgrade to a Studio Unit and having a nice lounge in the room. The Spa was great and a luxury. The restaurant meals were great.

Review 127:It was shabby, not terribly clean, noisy beyond belief and overlooked a weed and rubbish strewn vacant lot. You couldn't pay us enough to make us stay there again!

Review 128:However bathroom was small and poorly designed. The room was very cold and no heating was provided. The bedding seemed to be old and was not very comfortable. A good onsite restaurant would have been nice.

Review 129:Location was good and the room was well sized.

Review 130:Did not like the bed,and upon checking in the receptionist over charged me, she seemed a bit ruffled Also felt that as we were visiting the wine region the receptionist maybe should have asked if we needed info

Review 131:Location
