Reviews for Hotel de Plataan Delft Centrum

Review 1:Lack of privacy (WC and shower in the room) Rooms are small Overpriced

Review 2:Location Interesting theme rooms Awesome corner bath tub Tasty simple breakfast

Review 3:Ceiling fan in our room was very wobbly at high setting, so much so as to make you think it might fly off, and it is even noisy on the lowest speed. They do need to fix that.

Review 4:Quirky old hotel, centrally located in old Delft. They say parking is a "possibility," and we got lucky and were provided free parking in a small lot behind the hotel. Breakfast included was very good, including eggs, cheeses, meats and a variety of breads, yogurt, cereals, good coffee and fresh-squeezed OJ. Very good WiFi.

Review 5:Elevator is very small and could barely accomodate a compact baby stroller. The room was nice, but looked old. The bathroom was pretty small and there was no soap/shampoo in the shower, you were supposed to use the one from the sink: so...flooding the bathroom to go get soap when showering!

Review 6:location and uniqueness of interior design

Review 7:No shampoo, soap, or other toiletteries in room Bed was very soft Breakfast is basic

Review 8:Staff very friendly Location is excellent Parking is great Rooms are interesting and fun

Review 9:the rooms have themes (we had the egyptian room, the kids the chinese room) with a kind of balkon, a bathtube in the room (beside the shower with a solarium(!) in the bathroom), adjustable beds, ...

Review 10:Nothing-really a great hotel!

Review 11:Funky hotel that was a lot of fun. Room was comfortable-be aware that the bathroom/toilet may not be as private as you are use to-breakfast was wonderful, location is excellent, Delft is perfect, the square the hotel is located on is quiet and relaxing, with music on Sunday evenings. We enjoyed watching the antics of the 2 cats who live in front of the hotel. Free parking was great.

Review 12:Wished there were smaller towels (hand and face) in the room and maybe facial tissues? The swinging doors into the toilet area of our room need to be oiled so they don't swing. All minor things that we never asked about.

Review 13:Ambiance, "cool-ness", funkiness!, staff, breakfast, outside (seating, cats), convenience to "stuff", free parking, free Wi-Fi!

Review 14:No air conditioning and I was there during hot days.

Review 15:Very nice non-conventional rooms. The staff was very helpful. Located at walking distance from the station and the centre.

Review 16:Very hot in the sun - did not expect A/C but a fan would have helped a lot.

Review 17:We got a themed room with spa-bath. Situation is great- very close to the centre and with free parking on site.

Review 18:Check-in took too long. Extra bed for my child not prepared. The price miscalculated. Very small, not comfortable and old-fashioned bathroom.

Review 19:Very good place in the city centre. Parking in the backyard.

Review 20:I stayed in The Delft themed room. For the money this is the best hotel room I have ever stayed in. As this large room is on the top floor it could be called a Penthouse Suite. The hotel is just the right size feeling homely not institutional. I was very impressed with the quality of staff: welcoming and helpful. Good continental breakfast. Central location. Highly recommended.

Review 21:Nothing

Review 22:The location in a pleasant square in the centre of Delft (with parking), the breakfasts, the friendly atmosphere, the comfortable rooms. Great value for money

Review 23:Elevator sort of unusual, bed was not comfortable and in out theme room the bathroom/toilet wasn't really convenient (no doors)

Review 24:Location and staff, rooms were spacious and the interesting "themed" rooms. Wifi and services were top as well.

Review 25:Some things are worth noting. The lift is tiny – one person and one big bag and it is full. Furthermore, the parking is limited as probably pointed out when you booked. The design can be a bit over the top. We had an huge aboriginal kid studying us from the wallpaper in the toilet. Parking on the street is not allowed and if the hotel parking is full, then you have to use one of the public ones which is a fair 500 m walk away. Parking here is expensive, €24 for a whole 24h (or more than 12h) and most important – the parking in Delft has no coin slots and only accepts Maestro cards or V-pay. Visa, Mastercard and other major credit cards are rejected. So when the parking is full, you might have to find a local resident that can help you pay the parking fee if you don’t have the correct card. Wonderful hotel otherwise!

Review 26:Great place! Fun rooms, clean and well kept, decent breakfast and a very good situated in Delft.

Review 27:themed rooms.... cheap feel small bathrooms we probably would not visit again.

Review 28:the cafe below the hotel free wifi location price the pictures acurately reflect the hotel

Review 29:Having to go after only one night.

Review 30:Where do we start, service, room decor, jacuzzi in bedroom! Sunshower (never had one of those before) location and parking.

Review 31:Only few space to put cosmetics and toiletries. No "real" cupboard (at least in the standard room)

Review 32:Very good breakfast with fresh products especially home made bread and overall good choices. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 33:Nothing much. Television signal kept breaking up.

Review 34:Period charm, helpful staff, good breakfasts, great location, quirkiness of bedrooms, worlds best shower.

Review 35:Location is great with a few minute walk to the old square. WIFI was fast. Staff was friendly with fluent English speakers. Breakfast was good with nice cheeses and breads.

Review 36:I was upgraded to one of the themed room, which made the experience of staying in the hotel that much better. Staff were excellent, friendly, efficient. Decent breakfast, good wifi, nice atmosphere. Great location.

Review 37:Not much:the buffet breakfast is arranged in the corner of the bar but that doesn't work well when there are a lot of people at the same time, as only one person can serve themselves at any one time. Cold milk for tea not offered routinely, but you can get some if you ask for it.

Review 38:Good location, short attractive walk along canals to the very centre of town, free car park. Pastoral murals in the rooms and corridors.Tiny but fun lift.

Review 39:Nothing to add.

Review 40:The friendly and helpful staff (and cats), cousy rooms, tasty and healthy breakfast and specially the environmentally conscious of the hotel...

Review 41:Small bathroom and water sprinkled on floor Small breakfast buffet (not the food but the space)

Review 42:Service, room decoration, breakfast: complete and healthy! Entire hotel atmosphere

Review 43:Room was very basic and hot. We had to have the windows open which was noisy and we both got badly bitten my mosquitoes No resturant

Review 44:The feel of the place and the position overlooking a lovely small square with resturants. Very convienent for the center of Delft

Review 45:We would have appreciated more clothes storage space in our room

Review 46:Friendly and helpful staff. The café atmosphere on the ground floor. Unusual décor in the bedrooms. This is a small and comfortable hotel, which was very appropriate for a visit to beautiful Delft. Good variety of restaurants nearby.

Review 47:We did not like that the bathroom did not have a door in our room. Also, I had requested a family room, but I did not get that. I think guests should be able to reserve the room they would like as long as there is availability.

Review 48:We liked the beautiful decor and the well-planned breakfast.

Review 49:The lack of air conditioning.

Review 50:We really liked this hotel, the room was lovely and the bed was comfortable although rather narrow. The staff were excellent. They were very welcoming, answered all our questions in a friendly manner. The breakfast was excellent. We would certainly go there again.

Review 51:Our room was on the top floor and it got quite warm. Thank goodness for the ceiling fan to cool it down a bit.

Review 52:The hotel sits on a lovely square shaded by several Sycamore trees. The tables in the front patio are wonderful for a cup of coffee, to read a book, or enjoy a drink in the evening.

Review 53:Were'nt too happy that we ended up with a twin room instead of a double,.Although the beds were electrically operated and allowed us to watch the World Cup on TV in comfort., we do like to sleep in one big bed!

Review 54:We really enjoyed our stay at this 'quite different' hotel with the themed rooms. We stayed in the 'Delft' room, which was quirky enough to hold our interest for a few days.

Review 55:There was nothing that we didn't like about this hotel and we would certainly stay again should we return to Delft.

Review 56:This is a charming hotel with very friendly staff. Unusual, characterful decoration in room. The little café downstairs was nice and it overlooks a nice square - great access to centre of Delft. Breakfast was good with lovely tea! Parking was good and free!

Review 57:The matrasses, we slept very well and we like the breakfast.

Review 58:The ambience is super zen. Love going there!

Review 59:We loved all of it. Friendly. Perfct location.

Review 60:Broken elevator

Review 61:Fantastic rooms like from fairytale.

Review 62:Noisy on one night (out of 3)

Review 63:The proximity to the city centre. Good parking Quirky design (surprisingly) comfortable beds

Review 64:Room too hot at night

Review 65:Funky style

Review 66:Great location in Delft. Delicious breakfast and quirky room.

Review 67:Its a bit strange with the rooms - if you are into retro/hippie/alternative stuff it's fine.

Review 68:Location and free car parking

Review 69:Thematic design and parking availability

Review 70:The quirky decor

Review 71:The individually decorated rooms, the great and friendly service, the location

Review 72:The themed rooms are really interesting and the friendliness of the staff.

Review 73:The rooms, the unexpected elements, the staff

Review 74:Nice breakfast spread and cute rooms

Review 75:An very nice independent hotel with its own character

Review 76:Parking was easy to access. Good location.

Review 77:Environment, atmosphere

Review 78:-

Review 79:The location, the Organization of the hotel,

Review 80:Beautiful place. Vers silent. Scenic neoghbourhood

Review 81:Location Garage

Review 82:The Lift.

Review 83:Certainly individual, Delightful staff

Review 84:I wish there were more things available for breakfast, like eggs made to order.

Review 85:Great location, loved the themed rooms Staff great, what,s not to like

Review 86:bed and pillows were not very comfortable

Review 87:spacious room for the city center

Review 88:too old mattress, trash bin full at arrival, noisy

Review 89:Breakfast on the terrace, funny decoration

Review 90:Delightfully unusual décor

Review 91:All good

Review 92:Each room individually decorated comfortable bar good location

Review 93:A hotel like other. Most rooms have themes. Hotel is located across from square but not too noisy. Patio in front is great place to have a beer and watch the activities.

Review 94:* Shower water gets onto toilet floor area. * No bathmat provided. * No washcloth.

Review 95:* Elevator / Lift; * Floor lights in toilet; * Bed; * Windows that open; * Location.

Review 96:Breakfast was very crowded and three was nobody cleaning the tables... The personel were running ALL the time and doing teeri best. Chapeau!

Review 97:Very warm welcoming

Review 98:That we were only en route to Edam and only stayed one night!

Review 99:A really individual, friendly and unique hotel in a great area of Delft. Right in the centre but quiet and comfortable. Staff are very helpful and attentive. Very pleasant cafe/bar and a substantial delicious breakfast. At last a hotel that really does have Green credentials! Car parking was a real advantage.

Review 100:The boiled eggs were a bit hard and the scrambled eggs rubbery. We stayed in a hotel in Paris that had a thermostatically controlled rectangular pot of hot water with metal wire spoons that you could lower your egg into for just the right length of time. Those were the best eggs that we have ever had at a hotel.

Review 101:We both loved the themed rooms based on beautiful parts of the natural world and named after the trees that grow there. The wall to wall murals were just an example of the thought and care that has gone into making this hotel a very pleasant place to stay

Review 102:Epic bathtime! I stayed in the sea-themed room, which has sun-shower and jacuzzi. Very friendly staff and plenty of delicious beers. Parking on site was simple and seemed secure.

Review 103:Our room did not have a proper wardrobe. The tiny lift is slow and noisy and doesn't reach the third floor.

Review 104:The decor of the themed rooms was inspired. Very convenient yet peaceful and quiet location for exploring the centre of Delft. Excellent breakfast. Good car park.

Review 105:The owner was very fast to accuse us of wrongly parking our car without mentioning a license plate number or anything else. It turned out to be another car that was parked in that spot. We got a free upgrade to a theme room, but that was a bit stuffy and on the top floor. I guess I would not have minded the standard room.

Review 106:The young staff were very friendly. Lovely old place. Nice location.

Review 107:Nothing really major. Could have done with a soap dispenser above the basin in the toilet. The room got warm during the night, but the fan helped.

Review 108:The quirky themed decor was really fun and made our 2-day stay truly memorable. Our room (207- Salix Alba) had a great shower, electric adjustable beds and a very useful ceiling fan. The hotel had a central location in this historic city. Loved strolling around this compact city without the crowds and noise in Amsterdam. Much safer/easier to try cycling here than Amsterdam although availability can be a challenge. The included breakfast was great too and staff were friendly and helpful. A great base for exploring areas outside Amsterdam. We traveled by train and found that we could get on and off numerous times on the same single tickets.

Review 109:ceiling fan noisy at night. on the square in front of the hotel a few cafes which are overcrowded until late at night - in hot weather when windows are inevitably opened, it becomes very noisy.

Review 110:Very convenient location. all rooms with individual design interiors. Convenient free parking in the hotel courtyard. Elevator itself a separate attraction of the city of Delft!

Review 111:The bathroom connecting with the room and the shower was odd. We made it work though.

Review 112:The art work was nice. The staff was very helpful. Beautiful city!

Review 113:Small towels! The wardrobe was also very small - OK for one person for one night, but very small otherwise!

Review 114:I liked the quirky decor, jacuzzi bath right in the bedroom etc. - it was fun for a night! Free wifi was reliable too.

Review 115:It was the most horrible hotel, I’ve ever stayed at. The room smellsgenuinely horrible, the toilet smells, the beds are uncomfortable, nosoap, no waste bucket in the room, virtually no wardrobe, no fridge, nota single shelf, there is simply no facility to place ones belongings, although the room is fairly large, very inconvenient fittings, forexample, it is difficult to reach the switch in the bathroom and by thebed, lack of light, both natural and artificial; lack of towels, lack ofcleaning routine – ones they left detergents in the room, ones did notfinish making the bed, ones forgot to leave the towels and refused tobring them up, we had to go down; breakfast is virtually nonexistent, tables are not cleaned on time, stuff is not attentive. We used laundryservice, part of clothe arrived wet, part with same stains. Instead oflift they have some weird elevation device that was part of the timebroken, and there is no one to help with the luggage. At the end theytried to charge us 150 eu extra. Really, I have no idea how they havemanaged to get 8.3 points in booking.com.!!!!!

Review 116:Location

Review 117:Not applicable.

Review 118:The decor of the rooms is quirky and fun, providing a different experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the night we stayed there, walls painted to show a seaside scene, a jacuzzi bath etc. The staff were friendly and helpful and everywhere was clean. The location is perfect for sightseeing in Delft.

Review 119:Theme room was a little creepy. Not sure how clean bathroom was, but it might have been the design.

Review 120:Friendly and helpful staff. Nice bar area. Comfortable beds.

Review 121:central Delft, now has most roads closed to cars, so difficult to get to hotel. We were told breakfast starts at 07:30, but in the morning when we went for breakfast it was closed and a sign saying breakfast 08:30. So we had no breakfast before having to leave for a meeting. We were not the only ones, there were other people in the same situation. This is probably why they asked us to pay upon arrival!!!!!

Review 122:Themed rooms, location

Review 123:The reception couldn't give us good information about the rooms. Thelift is slow and dangerous. The hotel needs some renovations, toiletesmell bad and it was cold to sleep behind the window in Tamarinde.

Review 124:We enjoy the jacuzzi especially.

Review 125:They should improve their heating... The design of the bathroom...not that nice having your toilette 40 cm distant from your bed...

Review 126:The design of the lobby

The Fine Print
