Reviews for Las Rocas Resort & Spa
Review 1:The relaxed yet very professional attitude of the employees. From the front gate to the front desk. They treat us like very well. Very polite and cheerful.
Review 2:No heat in room. Room was dirty. Noisiest place we have ever stayed. No heaters available only extra blankets. Construction workers were pouring concrete and blocked the entire driveway for over an hour keeping us from leaving. Worst stay in Mexico ever
Review 3:The ocean view
Review 4:Parking was bad.I eat at their restaurant and got sick.
Review 5:the staff was attentive and helpful, the view to the ocean was nice, Rosarito, Puerto Nuevo and Ensenada are really close to the hotel with in a half an hour drive each
Review 6:All that digging on the parking lot, holes on courtains, graffiti on bed and that awful smell from the second Jacuzzi next to the infinite pool.
Review 7:That breakfast it's great!! The view, the Jacuzzi next to the ocean and that tequila with rattlesnake, ajuua!
Review 8:I didn't like the style. It was too antique and the room smelled like smoke at time to time.
Review 9:The view was nice and the room was big and open. The beds were comfy.
Review 10:The "hot" tub was only luke warm. Request to turn it up went unheeded. There were very few guests, and with all the rooms with unobstructed ocean views my view was obstructed by large palapa bar and restaurant. Room was directly above 2 rooms being renovated. Pounding, chipping, grinding all afternoon. Room was run down with ratty carpet. Fireplace but no firewood. Marginal portable heater inadequate. Complimentary welcome margaritas were terrible.
Review 11:The complimentary breakfast was great.
Review 12:NO ROOM SERVICE ON SUNDAY , DUE TO BUFFET, NEEDED MY COFFEE.
Review 13:THE SOLO GUITAR PLAYER IN THE RESTAURANT , WAS GREAT AND THE WAITERS ON FRIDAY NITE. FOOD NOT BAD EITHER.
Review 14:I was asked for my credit card to pay when I first got there and I thought that I had already paid for the room on line when I provided my credit card info.
Review 15:The property is a bit rundown; there were silver fish, spiders, and a roach in my room. The restaurant was closed, and the bar was nothing special.
Review 16:The location was amazing; the view from my bedroom was truly beautiful.
Review 17:Closed dining room early, free margaritas only for plain (didn't tell us until after we received our order) for 1st class resort petty items leave bad taste.
Review 18:1st class suite ($12 upgrade) working fireplace, dome ceiling. Beautiful design, views, King 2 step platform poster bed.
Review 19:The only thing I did'nt like was that the room doesn't count with air condition. And to recibe a fun we had to call twice and wait a long time.
Review 20:The room is not the best ... Make sure you don't book a standard room
Review 21:I loved this resort !!! Beautiful and for the price ... It was amazing !!! Sure would book again ! We had a great time !
Review 22:The hotel ,the employees, the room everything was duty, n smell terrible and everything was broken .my worst nightmare
Review 23:I didn't like nothing, is duty, expensive everything is broken, nothing works u guys need to have deep cleaning n repairs n every room paint do not put it on the web side cuz is embarrassing employees need to provide good customer service.get retrain.
Review 24:The Jacuzzis were really dirty and the pools were just as filthy. It really is a shame, because the views from the pools are amazing. But what's the point if you cant even swim in them and enjoy the view. Hotel has a nice infinity pool, another pool on the other side of the hotel and a Jacuzzi, all with really beautiful views but filthy dirty. You can tell the staff hasn't cleaned it in years. I say years because before I booked a room at this hotel, I read the reviews and most of them did mention the pools were dirty. I was just hoping they were cleaned lol sadly they were not. I couldn't even recommend the hotel to friends. Bottom line, if the pools were decent, I would most definitely book again.
Review 25:Our room had a great view. Near pool area. Room was clean. Receptionist was friendly and fast check in and check out. I like the security at the front gate and inside parking.
Review 26:Everything.. Horrible hotel.. Stay away
Review 27:Nothing......The hotel was in a bad spot and the pool pump was on all the time.. The spa didn't work the rooms were dirty, nasty and outdated... What a waste of my money and time. Do not stay at this hotel.. The biggest thing was no air conditioning...
Review 28:broken toilet seat. Bad TV reception
Review 29:Standard rooms have ocean views with a balcony. Wonderful guitarist in the semi -outdoor dining room. two water bottles & toiletries. Great grounds with awesome pools.
Review 30:Hated hated the dark numerous stairs we were taken up and down followingcheck in...with no offer of help with many bags...we had to ask one guyfor help. ...I think all bags should be taken to and from rooms. ...plus. ...The first room we had on level one, my friend sat on toilet andit collapsed under him....causing him to fall into the sunkenbath.....we were moved, but this should never have happened.....Cocktails in second room. ....Also, not at all suitable forwheelchairs
Review 31:Loved the pool area the bar area and the outside restaurant. .
Review 32:I booked a room with a bathtub but the room only had a shower.
Review 33:The food was excellent. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The pool area was well maintained.
Review 34:Pool jacuzi was not clean loud music played by pool from hotel speaker. Spraker too big and loud cannot sleep at pool.
Review 35:Location, staff, suites. Pool was nice but very dirty.
Review 36:Wi-Fi was pretty bad. The roaches come out at night by the jacuzzi area.
Review 37:The view is amazing. The restaurant had good entertainment and it's a great value. It is a bit run down but nothing to complain about. You get what you pay for. I am definitely coming back.
Review 38:Very very slow internet.
Review 39:Ocean views and proximity to Rosarito. Not too close or too far. Staff has always been pleasant and I really enjoy Jose at the front desk. We have had some great conversations.
Review 40:Can't lie, zero bad experience afree I finish this review, I will be booking my room for September
Review 41:Everything, loved the patio and view of beach. Best bar I've ever been to, Luis is the best bartender ever.
Review 42:Dinner at the restaurant was disappointing. My chicken was doused in a cream sauce that had way too much lemon juice. Live music is nice, but it was too loud to have a conversation, so we just sat and ate our mediocre, expensive food without talking.
Review 43:The view and beach access made our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed exploring Rosarita.
Review 44:It is a completely beautiful hotel, however it could be better maintained. For the price it is a great value, but they could charge quite a bit more if more attention to detail was taken.
Review 45:Love the view from the rooms, the pool, the restaurants and the location. It is walking distance to several surf spots and taco stands while still being totally outside of the craziness of Rosarito. Sleeping to the sound of the ocean is probably the best part.
Review 46:the only thing I don't like it that it doesn't have a bar service in both pools just on one!
Review 47:everything is perfect! the view, the hotel, the people that work at a hotel everybody it's excellent excellent service!
Review 48:Everything seemed unkept like the pool wasn't very clean. The room needed basic repairs and upgrades to the drapes. Linen was clean but very rough.
Review 49:The views and margaritas!
Review 50:Not able to walk to shops or downtown location. This hotel to far from downtown Rosarito. I changed my first room because, when I walked out on balcony my view had an old shack with plastic cover that was falling off, it totally took away from my view of the ocean view room I was paying for.
Review 51:Pool and outside surrounding.
Review 52:Minor things, for example, smell of smoke in some rooms, broken shower head in the shower, all in all not the end of the world.
Review 53:The resort is really well kept and the staff takes pride in that.
Review 54:Very Dark, we were the only ones hence felt unsafe! There were multiple cockroaches in toilet
Review 55:Location was great! Though not well maintained the vew feom the cliff was great
Review 56:The day we arrived we were greeted by poor staff in the front office and in the restaurant. It seemed as if it pained them to service and attend us. Definitely not a place I would like to visit ever again.
Review 57:There were fewer people than expected. The hotel was pretty much empty except.
Review 58:We werent there long enough
Review 59:The service was great, the food was great as well... Especially enjoyed the ocean sounds from our room for a good nites rest
Review 60:the tub leaked water into the bathroom floor. The rooms could use a little renovation.
Review 61:The service is great. It is an older hotel therefore the amenities are not those of a more modern and bigger hotel. Made my stay feel more intimate
Review 62:Wireless was so weak as to be useless, tv had no channels, very poor lighting in the room (3 lights didn't work). Location is also remote and not walking distance to anything. The sofa was in need of re-upholstering or at least a cover.
Review 63:loved the suite with the balcony and view, also the beautiful paver floor and rustic furniture.
Review 64:The wifi didn't work well in our room. They have a super irritating policy that they don't let you charge things to your room, like meals, spa treatments, drinks unless you apply for credit. So you have to wait for them to process all this. They only partly accept Amex, so I could for some unexplainable reason pay for rooms with Amex but not incidentals and had to pay all incidentals such as drinks and food in cash. I had to ou for my parents room and my room on separate transactions. They also make you sign out pool towels and keep a receipt in order to return them. Just a lot of little administrative annoyances that don't happen at nicer hotels. Some of the rooms are unrenovated Our bathroom had a crumbling dirty tub. Also, the pool isn't heated so you'll need to be British or a child or a seal in order to enjoy it.
Review 65:The view and grounds are nice. The staff is nice. There are jacuzzis. They have good breakfast.
Review 66:Bed was not as comfortable as I would have liked. Bring your own blankets and pillows.
Review 67:Beautiful location, friendly staff, great view of ocean from even the standard room.
Review 68:The downside is there isn't much to do except the pool area. It's located on rocky cliffs, so there's no beach access/activities. Too far to walk to any little town.
Review 69:Rooms are big, with fantastic views. I liked the balconies. Two pools. The infinity pool is beautiful. It's a very relaxing hotel. A cute little restaurant, but the food was very mediocre.
Review 70:I loved the traditional feel of the rooms, however they could use some maintenance and repairs.
Review 71:The only thing better than the view was the very friendly staff. I booked online and check in took 3 minutes upon my arrival. Pools and hot tubs with amazing ocean views, an outdoor bar and the restaurant was very good.
Review 72:It's a shame that such a grand facility is in such a state of deterioration.
Review 73:Beautiful location and ocean views. Room was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful
Review 74:Hotel is a bit dated. Spotty wifi. If you're looking for a 5 star american type hotel this is definitely not it. And that's why I loved it here.
Review 75:Location and great staff.
Review 76:The showers drainage were very slow . that is something that need to be taking care of ASAP
Review 77:The view was excellent, staff were great .. food was pretty good.
Review 78:The room seemed really dirty and nasty. Bed was uncomfortable. Old TV with no remote!!
Review 79:The restaurant was great and the bar was awesome. The view from our room was beautiful.
Review 80:The place hasn't had any updates since I was there 10 years ago and some of the rooms could stand an overhaul. I only stay in the suites although so I'm not sure about the other rooms. Also, don't like the fact that you cannot get a fast pass when you stay here unless you buy a package and sometimes the packages aren't available.
Review 81:The food is amazing and the staff is friendly. Just love the resort feel and so close to the border. Been coming to Las Rocas for 15 years and will keep going back. The pool is great, but the hot upper hot tub is an amazing place to watch the sunset with a drink and a lover.
Review 82:The freezing cold pool... I would have loved if it was heated just a bit, we would have stayed longer drinking at the palapa, but the pool was ice cold.
Review 83:The set up of the hotel and the paradise look. Feels like your so far away.
Review 84:My husband and I went when it was raining so we experienced leaksthroughout resort!! From the spa to the restaurant to our room...Firewood: $6dlls per bundle (last approx. 4Hrs) It would be nice to havewood already in room, since I am renting a room with a fireplace. Spa: Ipurchased a 30min Swedish and 30min reflexology massage. I basicallypaid $65dlls for some inexperienced woman to place lotion all over mybody. I love getting massages, but unfortunately this time my 10yr oldcould have done a better job.
Review 85:Resataurant had a nice view overlooking ocean. Nice rustic feel to it.Food was okay, I wouldn't eat there again, but okay. I really likedour junior suite. We went when it was raining, so chilly weather andWood burning in the fireplace was really romantic and relaxing. Nextmorning, pulling back drapes and looking out at a beautiful ocean.Hearing the waves crash. It was wonderful!
Review 86:wifi connection is poor
Review 87:Everythjng was great from service to the cleanliness of the place. Great location everything is calm and great places to eat nearby.
Review 88:No extra pillows or blankets in the room. When we wanted to check out I had to get someone from the landscaping crew to help me find the staff person that was suppose to be at reception. Restaurant didn't open til 7:30 am for breakfast.
Review 89:There was a gentleman that sang and played guitar at 7 pm in the hotel Restaurant.
Review 90:1. No climate control in the rooms, it was very cold out and there was no heater! 2. No fastpass 3. Food - one step below bad. 4. Location - Sucks 5. Things to do - Absolutely nothing
Review 91:The guy at the gate was a little decent, but that was it.
Review 92:Poor water pressure and cleanliness in our shower. Nice place we enjoyed our time there. Wish we could have ordered up 70 degree weather. Overall nice place to stay
Review 93:Spotty WiFi that was only available for two devices Not many electrical outlets Pillows were a little lumpy Only three hangers in the room Limited TV selections
Review 94:Ocean views, sound of the surf, infinity pool, lovely landscaping, excellent location to view the sunset over the sea from our room's patio.A really pretty place. Helpful staff. Very clean room. Excellent price.
Review 95:There isn't childcare as stated on booking.com nor do they have a fast pass program for travelers coming from SD.
Review 96:Amazing views. Good buffet on Sundays. Extremely comfortable.
Review 97:Our room was dirty. There were crumbs on the couch, the carpet was filthy, th ceiling fan was filthy and there was hair in the shower. The paint is peeling and there are cracks everywhere. It doesn't looked like they've properly cleaned and maintained the hotel since it was built. It used to be beautiful. They tried to charge us for breakfast even though it was included with the room we booked. The food I ordered made me sick.
Review 98:The rooms were old outdated the kictchen had no utensils the first room had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. the grounds were in need of some up keep really has went down hill since my last stay.
Review 99:the view was awsome
Review 100:Low quality bed and shower/bathroom facilities, lack of cleanliness, place was in disrepair, food quality poor, generally below standard for a resort such as this.
Review 101:Amazing views and breathtaking crashing waves, location. The room was unusual, eye popping vaulted ceiling, wonderfully thoughtful staff.
Review 102:No water Monday morning. Front desk staff was extremely rude for my entire stay so I focused on keeping good relation with the cleaning staff vs the front desk. I think they need to be reminded that without the guest they don't have so a little humility will go a long way.
Review 103:Cleaning staff was attentive and kind. I had a great time relaxing with my son.
Review 104:Room tile/furniture were dirty. Light bulbs were cheap & light shades had burn spots. Blanket was old & frayed. 19" tv picture was poor. bathroom had loose sink faucet & dirty low quality shower curtain. Shower head was broken. North facing pool/spa were slimy/dirty! bring slippers to protect your feet. No deadbolt key for outside entry. Flimsy cheap door knob. * Ask for updated room & bring your own blanket & extra towels.
Review 105:Of couse the ocean view & large balcony! Security guards were on the job. Breakfast was good! Reception desk was very helful. Remember to notify your bank you're using your credit cards in Mexico.
Review 106:The place is looking a little run down. Palm trees need trimming, tiles replaced, paint, upper pool was cloudy with too much chlorine. Spend a little money and clean it up, helloooo???
Review 107:View amazing, staff friendly
Review 108:Moldy smell in some rooms, drop down creepy showers- need for better linens such as sheets and bedding.
Review 109:I loved the view, my room on the second floor near the quiet pool. We had a breeze and the most beautiful view. We were treated wonderfully, and ate and drank to our hearts content. The facility needs some updating- specifically the rooms, but it is definitely worth the money and we will come back again!
Review 110:staff!! bartender at the pool was harassing us to close tab for a tip, pulled my boyrfriend and I aound 7 in the eveining to close the tab we had with him because he wanted a tip inconvenience!!! later, another staff member hid my wallet thinking it was a k=joke are you serious?? went to the front dek to complain and felt that it was just being brushed off..rude, rude, rude,
Review 111:Liked the view and that it was 10 from Puerto Nuevo
Review 112:Nothing really around the hotel. No shops or other choice for food.
Review 113:Great view, pool was nice, bar good.. great landscape. Perfect to romance someone..
Review 114:I did not like the room they gave us, I had reserved our vacation months in advance I wanted a big quiet and private room instead they gave us one right in front of the swiming pool, I asked to change the room they gave us one very small, old and dirty sheets there were no towels there were ants all over the bed and all over the room and in the bathroom I felt frustrated all weekend because I felt I did obtained what I paid for this is the last time I stay at las rocas
Review 115:I love the ocean view and front desk staff is excellent
Review 116:I'm so sorry to say that we won't be returning there ever again due to the horrible sewer stench, that in fact, ruined our sleep and put a big damper on our stay! : (
Review 117:My husband & I invited another couple to Las Rocas because we had stayed there several times before, and told our friends it was our favorite place, right on the ocean with a beautiful view.
Review 118:No AC in room, we had to create an air current by keeping our front and balcony doors open throughout the night, which was a security risk. Slow WiFi.
Review 119:Beautiful brick and tiled room! Incredible dome ceilings on the fourth floor (Las Gaviota suites.) Great view from balcony of the property and ocean. Multiple pools and hot tubs. Very friendly staff, everyone spoke english, were helpful and accommodating. Breakfasts had healthy options such as fresh juice, fruit plates and granola with yogurt, as well as heavier egg dishes. Dinner menu reflected less of a concern for healthy eating. Mainly seafood, pasta, and meat dishes. Excellent homemade flan for dessert.
Review 120:Room was terrible, shower head was busted. There is no fridge/AC in the room. You have to pay for ice
Review 121:The location, right next to the ocean. You can hear the waves hit the cliff at night, relaxing and romantic.
Review 122:There was a water leak from the faucets in the bathroom sink so water was always pooled up around the sink and there were ants all over the bathroom counter because of it.
Review 123:Staff was very friendly and helpful and the security staff were always on patrol which made me feel that we and our car were very safe. The infinity pool was beautiful and there was a neat stairway that took us right down to the ocean.
Review 124:The rooms need updating. Beds are very old and uncomfortable. The facets were almos unfuntionable. The outlets wouldn't hold any device plug. No AC therefore had to sleep with the sliding door open and made us feel unsafe. The door lock had been jammed open and was broken. This cause concerned over the safety of our belongings while away from our room. Was planing in staying for two nights and instead left the next day.
Review 125:The location and food was good
Review 126:The rooms have no windows that can open! So the rooms felt stuffed and old. Had to open the front and back door to get fresh air In the room. Asked for a fan but did not get one.
Review 127:Location. Staff was nice.
Review 128:Yes, as you have read Las Rocas does need some TLC. No A/C if that is a concern.
Review 129:One word---LOCATION! Looking out onto the ocean and hearing the waves break all day and night, that is what you are paying for. Staff is helpful. Cafe is great for breakfast. Romantic; quiet. Out of three nights, one night was loud, but had quieted down by 11:00 p.m.
Review 130:I liked the location of the hotel. The people that works there, they are nice and helpful. The breakfast. Good and enough. Actually everything. If I have chance to go there a again I will stay at Las Rocas.
Review 131:Having to carry all our luggage up the stairs... The tv's are so outdated and the cable wasn't good, at all... Image very grainy on most channels. It's a little ways from downtown.
Review 132:The food (breakfast) was delish, fresh salsa and fresh tortillas!!! Even though the wait was a bit long, it was worth it.... Views were beautiful, rooms are roomy and the price was excellent, also liked the Christ on the hill just in front of this place... Made us feel blessed and protected.... ( we're a religious catholic fam.)... Over all a decent experience.
Review 133:The first day we arrived, my husband and I found ants on the bathroom and also on the bed, we could not sleep. The door knob did not work, the shower head was broken and threw water on the floor and the clean towels, the sink liked a lot every time I use it, and there was water all over so I could not put anything in it. The place needs a lot of maintenance and renewals. The pool and Jacuzzi was not working. My birthday weekend experience at Las Rocas was horrible.
Review 134:I secured the Jr Suite on line for $99.00 and was asked if the trip was a special occasion, which I replied for our 27th anniversary. I was not explained of the hidden fees and was charged for the champagne bottle and possibly the glasses in the room. I was charged $142 once I paid for the room. I felt I was coaxed into this situation.
Review 135:The ocean scene was fabulous and so were the gardens, pools.
Review 136:Our last night we were at the pool/spa area, there was this strange guy who said he was working here at the hotel. He was extremely impolite, awkward, immature & disrespectful. I heard him on the phone talking & later found out he stole a guest's wallet (the guest was in the pool/spa area we all made friends with each other). I just find it pitiful that if this creep really was a previous employee or has a history with stealing from hotel guest that's extremely shameful on Las Rocas!!!!
Review 137:I thought the staff was great! They were nice, friendly and respectful.
Review 138:Our shower leaked into the bathroom and the internet was super slow, but the maid cleaned up the extra water promptly and a break from the outside world isn't that bad.
Review 139:You can't beat the location and the price. Spend the money for the upgrade on the room though. for $10 more dollars that the standard room you get much better suite on the 3rd or 4th floor with a totally spectacular view. The infinity pool was just so relaxing and the perfect temperature. The spas were great as well. Also loved the location outside of town but close to things if you wanted. Food at the restaurants was good and very well priced. You definitely get more than you pay for here!
Review 140:Construction workers started work at 6 am
Review 141:The view!Free Breakfast! Lobster Dinner was excellent.
Review 142:everything perfect
