Reviews for Baan Krating Phuket Resort

Review 1:It is a bit isolated - fine if you're happy to rent a scooter (available from the hotel - very cheap). Also, they need to lift their game in the catering department: breakfasts are fine, but the 'all day' menu is pretty ho-hum.

Review 2:Secluded location 15 mins walk from superb Naiharn Beach and even closer to Ao Sane Beach (good for snorkelling). Excellent small resort hotel in the woods. NB - this is not Patong Beach!

Review 3:The breakfast was very average, and no good white wine available with evening meal. They could have made use of the beach buree in the evening for drinks.

Review 4:Slightly remote setting in "jungle/beach" environment.

Review 5:The hotel restaurant was poor however there are a couple of restaurants within a short walk.

Review 6:This location allows snorkeling. This was drawing our kids aging 6 and 8 to swim in the sea. Further the location in a tropical forest is very relaxing and charming.

Review 7:They don't accept American Express card.

Review 8:It's an amazing hotel, just far away from the noise and the mess of the city. Perfect to relax and enjoy some time between nature. Mr Haron who works in the bar of the beach was an amazing person and always available to offer a great customer service.

Review 9:We were disappointed in the beach. We paid for beach access and that is not what we got. The views were good from our room but there wasn't any beach access even close.

Review 10:Room water, ( taps, shower ) VERY sea salty. Breakfast could be bit more of a selection.

Review 11:Lovely private beach, especially for snorkelling. Huge room, bathroom and balcony. Friendly staff and Upgraded room for free. Peaceful resort in jungle feeling area.

Review 12:The restaurant and the beach bar was expensive. Other services were also expensive, such as wifi. Hotel area was a little worn and could do with being renovated (but we didn't mind). No place for those who want to stay close to bars, restaurants and shops.

Review 13:It's a cozy hotel area with friendly staff and nice rooms. Close to two small beaches which are great for snorkeling (no traditional sandy beaches). Our son liked the cozy pool we have got ourselves. A perfect location if you want to stay secluded. No place for those who want to stay close to bars, restaurants and shops. But there are several restaurants and a long nice sand beach nearby, about 20 minutes walk down the mountain (if you do not mind walking). If you rent a scooter, it is easy to get to other places and beaches.

Review 14:unfortunately, several aspects displeased us during our stay: - although modern and nice, some of the aspects of the room were poorly maintained (e.g. ceiling in bathroom falling down, balcony railings rusted and bend, etc.) - this lack of maintenance was also visible in the area of the hotel, as lots of constructions/places were outdated and sometimes left to abandon. That's really a pity, as this could increase significantly the beauty of the hotel!! - charge of the Internet was absurd - food was mediocre at the restaurant, some dishes of the very limited menu were even not available, and beware of the bill as they charge you extra taxes at the end! Food was our biggest concern as we stayed there for 9days and it was very difficult to grab something good to eat in the neighborhood! - you need to hire a scooter if you want to get to other places. Songtaews often don't want to get to the hotel as it is so remote and difficult to access (quite steep slopes). Therefore, also forget walking to the nearby beach of Naiharn during the day (>20 min of hills), you'll die of a sunstroke! - speaking of Naiharn; it was almost completely cleared a few years ago, so don't expect to find a lot except for 5 small restaurants. No 7eleven or small local market in sight, felt quite deserted!

Review 15:Magnificent modern rooms with view over (almost) private beach, very green surroundings (jungle-feeling), far from any party-places so ideal to get some rest and quiet (unlike the rest of Phuket)!!! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice snorkeling-beach as well!

Review 16:Breakfast was pretty awful - but egg on toast was fine!

Review 17:Loved the view of the oceN from our bed. Loved the different wildlife. Loved the beach access - most relaxing holiday ever! Totally "zen"

Review 18:internet should be free, there is no fresh juices,

Review 19:Bungalows are perfectly fused with nature. Very nice little sandy beach in front of hotel. Privacy of each bungalow. Sea view. we got upgrade .....

Review 20:quietness. staff. clean and nice beaches.

Review 21:the resort over all is well presented, in a lovely peaceful setting with great access to private beach. the staff are always friendly and helpful. the rooms were clean , extra large beds that were firm but very comfortable. the down side to this resort is its remote location. it is along a old small road so taxi may charge more to get there. you would be fine if hire one of the resort scooters for 350 bt per day if you are brave enough to drive the roads!! food: breakfast is included and was fine..usually thai style foor but they happily make omletes and eggs for you. suggest they put food nets over exposed fruit. the all day dining is available but not that great so you need to leave the resort most nights to eat out which is ok but transport can be aa problem or at least a cost. there is an excellent yacht club just up road with awesome outlook and food.run by expats. over all a nice place but not for more than a few days maybe.

Review 22:I can't possible overstate how terrible the buffet breakfast is. Although I must admit a friend perhaps a little more clever and positive thinking than myself ordered an omelette which I hear was fine. I myself stocked up on oats, nuts, fruit, and quality coffee and a French press from a mall on the other side of the island. Scooter rental is double everywhere else. Long walk to the nearest anything. Crazy Mosquitos even with repellant.

Review 23:Isolation and proximity to beach, lovely views of ocean and other Islands from room and balcony. Cozy timber shack. Jungle style surrounds.

Review 24:Not that bad, just a little sad as the facilities are starting to get run down. Bad form charging for wi fi - none of the other hotels in the area charge. Hotel food average and over priced.

Review 25:Loved the view from the room, access to a lovely little beach and the jungle location. Room clean.

Review 26:Paid Wifi was super slow and problematic

Review 27:Perfectly located, close to Nai Harn beach, amazing private beach to snorkel! Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, right in the middle of the Jungle! Pool is awesome and gives the feeling of a small lagoon in the Jungle.

Review 28:The personell was impolite and not service minded. Some in reception and restaurant was, but most not. The food was not good and it was a 15 minute walk in the dark to a restaurant. (Also saw a dras snake in the road one night). The resort was hard to find, and the taxidrivers didnt know it or charged extra because of bumpy road. The hotel had free shuttle to main Nai Harn beach but we only went there to eat at night. If this place had had more personal touch and great food, it really would have been a nice place. For example: make juice from the bananas and coconuts you have on the property...the grounds were big with lots of people working there, still it wasnt well enough taken care of. Its like it was built perfectly but hasnt been maintained since. Also, the staff didnt speak any english except for one lady. And it cost 450 baht a day for the wifi, which absolutely should have been included!!!!

Review 29:Snorkeling on the private beach, the funny roomcleaners, the empty (of people) pool, the pavilion room with great silent aircon and giant comfortable bed. Great sleep quality. Massage on beach was ok with nice girls, but didnt try the massage at the resort.

Review 30:Noisy and arrogant people (russians, italians and chinees tourists). Standing on the coralreef with their flippers, gloves on their hands touching everything. Italian girl with a huntingknife attacking seashells under water!? Tourist with harpoon shooting on fish, all for fun! It freaks me out, upsets me deeply. Resort doesn't know what to do, so it continues. Say byebye to this beauty.

Review 31:Tropical green and singing birds surround the bungalows of the resort. Nice little beach with some coralreef and little coralfishes. Quiet and peacefull place. The english speaking staff members are excellent. The thai speaking members do their best to help and understand. Remember it is a Baan

Review 32:It's a shame as the setting is ideal but the facilities are run downand the communal areas are shabby and unwelcoming. The staff haveminimal english and disinterested. Breakfast served was poor on choice.Tip - eggs are served but have to find chef and ask. The breakfastarea/equipment needs a major renovation/replacement. Charged forlate check-out. 200 baht per hour. No bar only restaurant at night andagain restaurant offers no comfort.

Review 33:The location was excellent and the snorkeling was very enjoyable(brought our own equipment). The room we booked was top quality - seaview with beach access. Bed was very comfortable. Traditional thai foodserved at night at restaurant was tasty.

Review 34:The beach is small and rocky; the staff was not very interested. Restaurant was uninspired.

Review 35:Very quiet location, very good rooms (the new rooms), beautiful view.

Review 36:Wifi wasn't free not even in the lobby. The complimentary bus for the Hai Narn beach has the last ride at 4 pm, really to early. The taxi to go back the hotel from kata or rawai is too expensive. The bungalow are too old inside but comfortable though. Too many insects inside the room.. I know the hotel is in the jungle!

Review 37:The place is incredible! The hotel is built inside a jungle and you wake up with the bird cheeping! Breakfast is good even though there are more salty things. The restaurant offers a decent selection of thai and international food. We had the thai food and it was pretty good. Unfortunately they don't have fish bbq. Go to Rawai fish market to eat some cheap and fresh food.

Review 38:Location, 2km away from everything, payd poor internet

Review 39:Extra big bed, nice jungle, silence place. Breakfast was good (swedish table), but if you eat same food week or longer, its geting booring.

Review 40:The breakfast was rather poor. Also, the transport from the airport that the hotel arranged was double the price we got when we arranged a driver on the way back on our own.

Review 41:We especially enjoyed the little private beach and the swimming pool. The hotel restaurant is good too and the staff is really friendly and helpful.

Review 42:The buffet breakfast was very poor: Congealed fried eggs, processed ham...with Thai dishes overcooked and unappetising. Some of the staff were unhelpful. Either you'd love the location or not -- we loved it but it's a 15 minute walk to main beach.

Review 43:Peaceful location along a cliff road off the beaten track. Beachside pavilion with great sea view. Dinner was excellent. Great Italian next to Royal Phuket Yacht Club 15 minutes walk away.

Review 44:Quiet far, no airport transfer so taxi playing with the price, internet need to pay ( no explaination on the website), breakfast not good, bed is hard not comfortable to sleep and the room just big but nothing inside. Nothing special accept you feel same like camping.

Review 45:Good location, quiet and nice beach

Review 46:The resort is very dated, bathroom in cabin smelt strongly of urine. The pool, beach bar really needed some TLC. Check in took around 20mins for them to make a manual payment, no drink or advice offered. The restaurant was ok, although not the best quality breakfast unless you like noodles and a chicken skewer. Overall for a remote location I was hoping for some atmosphere, even with a wedding on, it lacked any. We initially booked 2nights but left after the first.

Review 47:Location was very pretty and being in a remote location did have some sense of adventure. I would recommend the 20min walk or shuttle to Nai Harn beach.

Review 48:The breakfast would be more various and rich, not so much choice. Mindthat this place is qiet far from the town and taxis would be expensiverent a car or scooter :)

Review 49:The position is really quiet and nice, nice private beach for snorkelingand pretty overview

Review 50:Poor management of the resort with dirty gardens.

Review 51:The location was great.

Review 52:Ants

Review 53:The Location is the best

Review 54:No free wifi

Review 55:Location

Review 56:breakfast 2 out of 10

Review 57:room standard staff location outlook , surroundings

Review 58:Receptionist was bit rude.

Review 59:Brekfast: Very poor quality and variety. No free wifi. Very hard bed.

Review 60:the beach, the sea, the view!

Review 61:Breakfast was awful. Very run down property needs a lot of tlc.

Review 62:The beach is beautiful, fab view from our room. Staff were lovely.

Review 63:WiFi

Review 64:The beach. Bungalos

Review 65:Wifi could be free, more free shuttle could be provided to Naiarn beach

Review 66:Private beach, beautiful view, swimming pool

Review 67:No wifi, when we paid it ran out by the tme we figured it out.

Review 68:Private location, pleasant staff interaction

Review 69:Nice secluded spot, great little beach with a good snorkeling!!

Review 70:Room not clean! 1 night with no air conditioning (does not work)! Many issues! No arrangement for these issues!!!!

Review 71:The view

Review 72:Menu could have been a bit more varied

Review 73:Snorkeling was very good and lovely little private beach.

Review 74:The Asian style breakfasts.

Review 75:The view from the room, the sound of the water brushing the rocks below and the garden environment.

Review 76:Shuttle service was inconsistent but still good overall.

Review 77:Nice room and great view of the ocean. Secluded also and off the beaten path. Staff was great.

Review 78:Quality of rooms and facilities where over priced for season . Breakfast was sub standard when campared to other resorts or hotels at a similar price range

Review 79:I liked the resorts style and location

Review 80:Nothing at all

Review 81:Strongly recommended in Phuket. In jungle just after two brigdes. Private beach and wonderfull garden, food, facilities. Very good value for money.

Review 82:Communication with staff was a problem and they were not cooperative . Tea/ coffee/ drinking water provided in the rooms is rationed Transportation was a problem as it is very far from centre of town/ and other locations of interest. Resort does not provide any easy solution to this problem, and taxi rates are exorbitant

Review 83:the sea view is excellent

Review 84:When you tell a taxi driver the name of the hotel they will automatically increase the price due to the small road. If you are at the airport, just tell them the name of the beach, not the hotel name.

Review 85:Location is stunning.

Review 86:Breakfast wasn't that great, not that much to choose from, and no fresh juices. Good omelettes though!

Review 87:Lovely jungle resort, beautiful surroundings. You must book the ocean front villa! It is well worth the money. Beautiful views. Infront of the resort there is a small, isolated beach where you can go snorkeling, amazingly clear waters in March, and lots and lots to see in the sea! We booked a scooter from the hotel, so it was very easy to get around, and go to dinner etc. Excellent service.

Review 88:Breakfast buffet was quite limited but the dishes we ordered for lunch or dinner were tasty and priced OK.

Review 89:Great location away from crowds and busy tourist areas. Fantastic snorkeling right off hotel's small beach. Despite previous reviews we found hotel's staff attentive and helpful but have to agree that most of them speak very limited English.

Review 90:breakfast was average

Review 91:Wonderful location, it is isolated, located right on the water with its own beach. Spacious villas, great snorkling, quiet and beautiful, stunning sea views,

Review 92:There is no so much staff there. If you dont like insects and that kind of animals, this hotel is not for you cause outside your room you will meet them.

Review 93:The hotel is in the jungle with a wonderful view to the sea side. The rooms are done of wood and it looks all so ecologic. I would come back there. There is a small beach in the hotel that I dindt use anyhow since we were leaving to another place. A peacfull oasi to disconnect from the vibrant phuket.

Review 94:Cleaning quality The quality of the beach - a lot of stones and almost immediately deep

Review 95:Beautiful location in the jungle Private beach Good service Very quiet with just sea waves

Review 96:You need to rent a scooter or a car if you want to explore around, you can rent a scooter at the hotel a bit overprice $300 bath if you rent it in rawai, you can paid between $150 to $250 for one day (during the low season)

Review 97:Awesome place to stay if you looking for a quiet place, with beautiful view, good food and nice staff around. This is the one of the best place to stay in south of Phuket, the beach are clean and not too crowed compare to patong beach and others. The hotel is right on a middle of the jungle, the last one at the end of road, if you don't want to go out for dinner, stay there, best green curry we ate in thailand. There is a private beach where you can swim there is few rocks and the sand is not the nicest we had seen but it s clean and there is nobody, there is no price for that...

Review 98:- Many of the staff does not speak english.- Wifi that is too expensive and not simple to use - Many maintenance issues that must be looked after by the management

Review 99:Perfect for relaxing, away from the crowd of Phuket. You will hear thesounds of the birds singing in the morning, the green naturesurrounding, jungle beach that is just a few minutes away from the hotelwith its clear blue water and white sands..

Review 100:The staff should be active more and they should explain the guest clearly about hotel facilities and services.

Review 101:this hotel is embrace by mountain and beach. You won't be disturbed from noisy.Just only sound of insect, wave, wind, and the sound of tree dancing. The hotel hide away from city deep end of the cape so you will be cherish every moment there even sun set,or full moon. If you are the peace seeker, you suit this hotel surely.

Review 102:The restaurant didn't live up to our expectations.

Review 103:We stayed at one of the beachside/frontside bungalows with the most beautiful view of the sea. Nice snorkeling at the little beach at the end of the resort. The other beach is more suited for bathing. Beautiful surroundings and very quiet night and day. The pool was nice and clean The resort offers free rides to Nai Harn beach several times a day.

Review 104:,Staff were really poor service, food is not a value for money we want tosupport the business but food were really poor quality and service werereally really bad, there were a lot of staff but on one know what theydoing or enjoy they job, food always took hours to cook and served evensome night only us there still took a long time, we always have a heartattacked there when we drive in and out ,if security would telling us ornotice if car in and out the resort cause of one way and cliff ,sometimewe have to reward our trip 3-4 time to give way to resort truck whichwould be easily and safe if security doing his job by guiding way andguess should be the right one who shouldnt be give way and reward thecar on the one way for resort truck that was insane!!- no happy hours bar !which you have nice bar on the beach, you sale cocktail and alcohol in the wrong time ,middle of the day the beach bar was open ,who the hell go to drink alcohol in the hot whether afternoon we looking for drink on the beach but no!! you closed!!we have to walk cross the hill to drink on the beach elswhere becuase we on holiday and you got the spot!!?but no drink?!! damn, the managment abslutly have no idea to make profit for business..sadly.. you got the whole deal but got no idea to run!

Review 105:We loved the Location is the best spot on phuket that only things bringus back there but will looking for somewhere els now.

Review 106:The resturaunt wasn't very good, especially the breakfast buffet. The Thai offerings were wonderful but the Western offerings were lackluster for the price.

Review 107:I really enjoyed the jungle aptmosphere, the pool, the beach, and the room was great! Some of the staff went out of their way to welcome you & ensure you felt important!

Review 108:Nothing

Review 109:Super quiet paradise, friendly staff, intimate beach, wonderful veranda overlooking the sea

Review 110:RESTRAUNT SERVICE SLOW

Review 111:EVERYTHING

Review 116:Nice relaxing resort with own beach

Review 117:Can't think of anything

Review 120:good rooms wild nature quiet place good place for relaxation

Review 122:Quiet location Friendly staff

Review 123:The jungle atmosphere, beautiful seaside view, snorkeling near the beach
