Reviews for Grand Hotel Ter Duin
Review 1:The "wellness centre" is badly designed and managed. There are no suitable changing rooms, other than a small annex to a shower, the floor of which is wet. Although the hotel offers to provide bathrobes, none were available for me. In any event, guests in bathrobes have to walk through the main lobby of the hotel to get to the pool. The sauna and steam room are unsuitably located directly on the swimming pool, requiring their users to wear swimwear in both of those installations. Perhaps if the hotel were less ambitious and removed the sunbeds, a re-design might be possible. There were no appropriate staff in attendance in the centre to ensure cleanliness and order while in use. The mopping of the wet wooden floor surrounding the pool was left to the very occasional visit of a trainee manager unsuitably dressed in a business suit with collar and tie and city shoes!!
Review 2:bathroom a little poor equiped. no hooks voor hanging up your clothes or towels. the showers was very slippery and there was a sewer smell
Review 3:room and indoor wellness
Review 4:- We need to pay an extra to have a dressing gown in a sauna bedroom, it's a shame
Review 5:- The breakfast was really nice - Smiley and welcoming employees
Review 6:The staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was really good and the free snack between 5-6pm was delicious. We rented out bikes and explored the city and the beach. A really nice place to relax. The swimming pool is open till 11pm and there is a great gym.
Review 7:voor een 4 ster hotel, viel het tegen bed te zacht, een kastdeur zonder knop. vuil onder het bed. buitenrailing vuil.
Review 8:swimming pool, sauna and bathroom
Review 9:Very bad breakfast in a super dark place. Bread, eggs, coffee, cheese, meat, jams: all the basics where wrong. Get good bread, brown eggs, good dutch cheeses, nice jams. Stand in line for a coffee machine is the office. Only people with dogs are allowed to have breakfast in the daylight area. Another basic which is missing is toiletpaper: just impossible to get it out of the holder: used paper napkins of myself.
Review 10:My bad experience was that I was diverted due to road closure repairs for the "tour de France race". Arrived over an hour later than planned. What I didn't like was that I didn't spend enough time at the hotel.
Review 11:Staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was fairly large with a balcony, which allowed fresh air versus air-conditioning. Very large bathroom which was nicely laid out. Whole room very clean and orderly. Breakfast was very nice, many selections and Monica, who works in the restaurant, was more than helpful with my breakfast and also very accommodating with local information and directions. She was great!!
Review 12:The shower water drainage did not work so well. Was already known at the reception, when we reported it...
Review 13:Appreciated the assistance to get my charger back. PcH
Review 14:The style of the building is a little too artificial
Review 15:Location is excellent as a base for discovering the island on bike or foot. The bikes rented by the hotel are very good.
Review 16:If the Hotel is fully booked, there is not enough parking in front of the Hotel for everyone. There is extra parking a few meters down the road, although not easy to find, if you have never seen it before. The room where breakfast is served might be a little dark for some guests
Review 17:The room was great, spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable. Staff at our arrival was very friendly. The parking is free and right in front of the hotel. Very nice feature: almost all tea and coffee supplements are fair trade Breakfast buffet was good as well.
Review 18:Wij hadden halfpension maar het avondeten was een afknapper. Je kan beter een kamer met ontbijt nemen, er zijn in de buurt voldoende restaurantjes waar je veel lekkerder kan eten.
Review 19:Zeer propere kamer, mooie badkamer
Review 20:No signs with directions to the hotel, dust on the lamps, the fans in the bathroom never quit blowing (not even at night). We didn't use the pool, because there are no dressing rooms.
Review 21:Wunderfull surroundings, good breakfast with a free paper (dutch), coffee and tea in the room, pool looks nice.
Review 22:Poor cleaniless. Poor service in the bar not value for money. very impersonnal hotel
Review 23:location in zeeland, near the see. Acceptation of pets Bar open and serve small dinner late in the evening
Review 24:The bath room needed a handle to hold on under the shower, the floor is extremely slippery when it is wet.
Review 25:almost everything, swimming pool was nice when you all have it yourself, otherwise it will be too small when others jump in.
Review 26:The staff in the Grand Cafe wasn´t that great, I thinks it´s because most of the time there are only 2 people working the room without any real system.
Review 27:Nice clean hotel, great for dogowners. Nice big rooms and comfortable beds.
Review 28:The price/quality ratio was excellent. Breakfast of excellent quality. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and sound proof. Excellent stay. Probably the best choice in that region. Generous free parking
Review 29:breakfast in Saturday morning is too crowed, and very simple
Review 30:not charge extra for single traveller, and even offer bigger room which is good, free car park
Review 31:Excellent location - near the sea and within walking distance of small shops and cafes. Good, free parking; excellent, modern facilities and large bedrooms. Very good for cycling - we hired bikes from the hotel.
Review 32:WiFi was only in the main areas and not in the rooms. Dinner service was a bit chaotic with timing and portions were inconsistent. received the wrong drink orders twice.
Review 33:Very friendly service. Outstanding! Lovely spacious lobby and rooms. Top quality overall
Review 34:Only 2 plastic cups voor drinking and brushing teeth. The bath towels were thin and small
Review 35:nice spacey room and bathroom also the indoor pool and all facilities are available
Review 36:Some (very) little blemish - eg broken mirrors or small spots on the carpets. The location of the pool could be a disadvantage - depending on where your room is located you might have top cross the lobby to get there. If you plan on going to swim I'd recommend to call the hotel and ask for a room with good access to the pool.
Review 37:First thing you'll find after arrival is the big and free parking spot in front of the Hotel. The Check-in is maybe a little unusual, since there is a Check-In desk to sit at, but staff is very friendly and we felt very much welcome. The rooms at th Ter Duin are all very big, I'd even say huge. Space is never a problem. For a little extra Luxus try to get one of the rooms with the private Sauna - just awesome. The Hotel serves good food, although some people might find the prizes in the Restaurant a little high. For a normal snack or short meal the Bar is mor then enuogh and prizes are resonable. Breakfast is good, not more than standard I'd say but there is everything you'll need. I very much like to room where breakfast is served but others will complain since it is a little dark.
Review 38:Beautiful modern and comfortable hotel in an interesting part of NL. The price we paid for this time of year was in line with in line with other hotels we stayed at on our trip but the hotel was miles ahead of the others in terms of style and comfort. The breakfast was fantastic.
Review 39:The pillow gave me a stiff neck, if you care, bring your own... The photo on booking.com did not correspond with the room (photo was of a more expensive room)
Review 40:Nice location Extensive breakfast Nice hall, cosy restaurant & bar
Review 41:Wireless was rubbish apart from the lobby and there isn't enough parking for all the cars.
Review 42:Swimming pool, steam room, food & drink and the rooms.
Review 43:Staff is very friendly Room was very big and clean Free and spacious parking Good breakfast buffet Ideal location - Burgh-Haamstede can be reached by walking, the sea is just a few minutes away by car Bar as well as the restaurant have a nice food selectiin for reasonable price
Review 44:Difficulty finding a car parking space (we never found the notice about the overflow car park). We waited about 30mins before our order was taken for dinner. As we had been overlooked, we were given free drinks by way of apology.
Review 45:Lovely large, quiet room.
Review 46:We had booked a place with 24 hour reception as we were cycling from The Hague and were uncertain of what time we would arrive. We then called the hotel that night to tell them we would be late arriving, at around 2am. However, when we arrived, there was nobody at reception. We waited around, knocking on the door and calling the phone for almost half an hour before somebody came to let us in. We dragged our bodies up to the shower to find that there were no towels in our room. Apparently they "forgot". It was a bit of a shame to have these stresses as it really is a nice hotel.
Review 47:Such a lovely hotel to arrive to- we arrived at night and it looked like a traditional Dutch fairy castle. Breakfast was good, the room was nice, everything was spotless.
Review 48:Professionally polite staff, but never really friendly nor interested in their guests. Quite impersonal and uncosy hotel, which would not be a problem for a business hotel, bit is a disadvantage in a leisure/tourist region such as Zeeland.
Review 49:Excellent and big rooms, nice location of the hotel, bike rental worked fine.
Review 50:Broken lift for first 24 hours, dangerously slippy floor around swimming pool. Swim pool was out of action on 2nd morning. Drawer pulls and door handles were loose in the bedroom.
Review 51:Clean room, great selection at breakfast. Lovely pool.
Review 52:Everything was alright
Review 53:We had a family "apartment" within the hotel. The apartment was spacious, well furnished, with two balconies and a functional kitchenette. We also enjoyed the pool as well as the lobby in the evening. The breakfast was very good. Overall we were very happy.
Review 54:The food was poor and overpriced. We had to send the raw burger back!. The attitude of some of the staff was not what you would expect in a hotel such as this either, certainly not friendly and attentive.
Review 55:The room was excellent.
Review 56:Should be more attentive to details: towels were not changed and I had to ask 2x, the fitness room is very rudimentary (pretty much of no use), no towels are available in the pool area. The first impression of the hotel is very good, but eventually the general experience is 3* rather than 4*. All this could change very quickly if the management wanted to.
Review 57:Fairly new hotel, very large and comfortable room (although I found the mattress a bit too soft - but this is a question of subjective feeling) and bathroom, nice swimming pool and saunas, convenient location of the hotel. Very nice breakfast. Friendly staff at the reception. Nice and spatious entrance lobby.
Review 58:Some of the reception staff were very friendly, but the lady who received me did not gave me the impression I was very welcome. I was a bit early so it was clear there were no rooms available, but a bit more hospitality would have been appreciated. The other staff was very helpful though.
Review 59:Spacious, good value for money
Review 60:A bit fussy about arriving late (11pm was cut off) There was no bath, but a shower head with handicap access, overall strange configuration in bathroom. The general area is much more charming than that hotel
Review 61:The dinner service in the hotel restaurant was really slow. We had to ask several times so that we got what we wanted. Our room was not cleaned on one of the days we stayed. The WLAN should work also in the rooms, not just in the lobby.
Review 62:The hotel room (2 bedrooms and a living room + large balcony) was excellent. The swimming pool areas was nice, including three different saunas/hot rooms. The bike rental worked well.
Review 63:Staff very efficient but not very friendly - Nice balcony but don't expect much of a view - Bar and Restraunt a bit pricey - Struggling to find any other "constructive critiscism" folks. This was a very nice Hotel.
Review 64:Lot's of bikes to hire at a very reasonable price - Ideal place to start to experience The Netherlands cycling culture - Wonderful Swimming Pool, Steam Room, Sauna, Etc... Fantastic Shower in Huge Bedroom / Ensuite - Breakfast Choice out of this world !!
Review 65:Pool is a bit plain and impersonal. No towels?! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and service. However, the menu is a bit limited and the place closes at 21.00. Avoid restaurant on the same street : Zeebinke. Arrogant personnel and a poor quality food.
Review 66:After reading the previous reviews on here about customer service, I was a bit apprehensive. I was wrong. Well done management team and personel! It seems the quality was improved greatly. Very professional and friendly service both in the reception and the restaurant. Rooms are very large, clean and pretty. Perfect breakfast, huge choice and very friendly waitresses.
Review 67:Onderhoud wellness
Review 68:Kamer was comfortabel en rustig
Review 69:The access to the Spa was poorly organized and the fact that you have to go to the reception to get some towels for the spa was unexpected.
Review 70:Beautiful place, everybody really attentive, with all facilities needed to enjoy the stay. Generous breakfast buffet!
Review 71:x
Review 72:very good breakfast !!!!
Review 73:Menu
Review 74:Weleens, lobby en ruimte in kamer

Review 76:very good breakfast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 77:we were here as couple, while there were groups too. The service for the individual guests was not optimal at that time.
Review 78:the total concept.
Review 79:Beautiful hotel, very comfortable. Staff very friendly.
Review 80:Breakfast buffet is a bit average for that price. Sauna not on in morning.
Review 81:Spacious room and bathroom, swimming pool, steam room.
Review 82:They didnt refill the breakfast buffet. Staff is arrogant.
Review 83:Facilities like pool. Nice big quiet rooms
Review 84:NOT THE ROOM THAT WAS PROMISED. MANAGEMENT.
Review 85:THE LOCATION.
Review 86:Dirty and non hygenic carpet in the room
Review 87:Breakfast
Review 88:No minibar in room. No towels in wellness area.
Review 89:Great rooms and beds.
Review 90:The airconditioning didn't work which was dissapointing as it was really warm that day.
Review 91:breakfast
Review 92:No Mini bar
Review 93:Location and rental services for bikes
Review 94:it is much too expensive for what it is. It's just a basic hotel and it claims to be luxury. Very unpleasant stuff
Review 95:Not the cheapest place we've ever stayed.
Review 96:Amazingly luxurious accommodations
Review 97:keine Aussicht, alles sehr neutral gehalten (nicht wirklich gemütlich),
Review 98:große Räume, großer Balkon, großes Bad, schöne Lobby
Review 99:Wooden floor around the pool very slippery.
Review 100:Restaurant, bedroom and pet friendly.
Review 101:not enough parking, alarm going off in the middle of the night and no explanation the next day
Review 102:location, balcony, large comfortable bed
Review 103:Nothing
Review 104:The rooms were huge and spotless breakfast was very very good
Review 105:De finishing touch. ...
Review 106:entourage
Review 107:Too expensive Lack of Bathroom amenities No Mini bar
Review 108:Big room
Review 109:Parking removed from front door
Review 110:Superb apartment
Review 111:Poor service in restaurant
Review 112:Great breakfast, great location
Review 113:no tv in the bedroom no WLAN, have to use a cable the resaurant was really terrible; Pasta was realy really bad and it is a high Price level
Review 114:Price was a bit too high during the middle season but the service was there ! ;-)
Review 115:Very large room, friendly staff, great locations and easy to rent bikes. The best to stay in this area !
Review 116:This is a bond hotel where different investors are the owners of therooms. Their investment gives a 6% return. The hotel is therefore verybusy and noisy. Dogs are allowed in the whole hotel including restaurantand cafeteria. As a result the lobby smells. The front facade of thehotel looks like an old folks residence which is off putting. This iscertainly not your standard 4 star hotel.
Review 117:Large room.
Review 118:To activate room service, you have to pay EUR 12.50. So if you want one cup of coffee, you have to pay 12.50 + the price of coffee. That's absurd. Some of the staff are too young and inexperienced. I ordered a pumpkin soup and was given a quarter of a bowl (my wife's tomato soup was filled more than three quarters). I made a comment, and the (young, inexperienced) waiter said 'Maybe they've run out.' I would say, then don't serve any at all. He offered to top it off with tomato soup, a pretty interesting suggestion :) Anyway, it does seem that, perhaps to cut costs, the hotel is hiring very inexperienced help. They should be trained properly then.
Review 119:Nice looking hotel, clean, comfortable, good facilities, overall good.
Review 120:Absolutely no double mattresses in the whole hotel. After suffering thisfor 2 nights asked for our money ack instead of suffering 2 more nightsunromantically falling off a single mattress. Was told that this was notpossible because Booking.com controlled the situation and we had taken anon-returnable rate. We explained that we had turned up and then becomedissatisfied customers so the hotel should release our money so that wecould go to a hotel in the village which did have proper doublemattresses and was half the price. After phoning, the hotel manager saidBooking.com would not agree. This level of greed and bad service isdisgraceful, and spoiled a romantic re-union. There are also no kettlesin the rooms so every cup of coffee has to travel from the bar, onlyopen after 12am, and costs 3 euros each. Never again, and gave us a badimpression of both Holland and Booking.com. They also have the cheek tobombard my email box with special offers of massage but all written inDutch. No thanks for ever. We did not use the restaurant at all, far tooexpensive.
Review 121:Although the design of the hotel was impractical, both inside and out(You cannot drive up to the door!), the building was solid andtherefore quiet.
Review 122:Restaurant inside hotel was very expensive and not worth at all.
Review 123:Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room size including bathroom was very spacious compared to European standard Hotel location is good and very close to beach as we las forest. There is a very good Turkish restaurant called Asmara which makes very good dishes
Review 124:The smell of the soap! (very little thing!) Take your own shampoo!
Review 125:Globally excellent stay. Nights were calm, long and confortable beds. We enjoyed the place, biking and wandering around was great. We would come again. Only you have to know that if not booked in advance, the breakfast is charged 15 €/person. The restaurant looked quite expensive compared to comments herein not enthusiasming, so we went in town to the turkish restaurant Asmara, that was a very good quality/price rate.
Review 126:Hi, I found a used tanga (women underwear) in the chair:) when I entered in my room.It was a nice surprise:)
Review 127:Good wellness and beauty of nature around the hotel.
Review 128:Three course meal overpriced for the quality and size of the portions
Review 129:Design of the hotel and its location. Good size rooms with dog friendly attitude.
Review 130:Cold and impersonal service Very noisy airconditioning system, which cannot be shut down. No individual shampoo or shower bottles, no moistener, which you would expect for the price of the room. Very poor lighting in the room.
Review 131:Nice lobby, bar and restaurant Very spacious Bikes for hire at the hotel
Review 132:smelled like a cow pasture no room internet, only lobby toilet paper holder was very difficult. all the soap and shampoo was from a large dispenser, very impersonal.
Review 133:great breakfast spacious rooms
Review 134:We paid for a 'Superior Suite' which we were expecting to bemore than it was. The room only had two pieces of furniture and verybasic bathroom toiletries. Our tv was not working and the staff justexplained they did not know why it was not working and did not offer tohelp or fix it in any way. For the cost of the room our expectationswere definitely not met.
Review 135:The hotel was in a great location and easy to find. You could walk tothe beach from the hotel (20 minutes walk). Breakfast was absolutelydelicious! Worth staying here just for the breakfast! All you can eat -hot and cold - lots and lots of options!
