Reviews for Håradalen Cottages

Review 1:Bedlinnen and towels cost extra 110NOK/person, hot water in bathroom costs 10 NOK/4 min. There is only one toilette per 4 rooms and 1 shower per 8 rooms. Beds not comfortable. Poor kitchen facilities.

Review 2:Not bad localisation, not very far away from Trolltunga. We got extra room without extra cost.

Review 3:Can't grumble much considering the price. Bed isn't that comfortable, and you have to rent bedding and pay for the shower. Only small gripes though.

Review 4:Really good location for our purposes. The scenery around us was awe inspiring. Very good price. Kitchen has all appliances you would need for self catering. The lady who runs the place is very friendly and helpful.

Review 5:For bedding and hot water, you must also pay extra. However, given the rental price is no comment :)

Review 6:A modest but pleasant accommodation, reminiscent of times student dorms. Two buildings are located in each triple rooms. The whole set in a beautiful valley with breathtaking waterfalls. Amazing place. Throughout Norway will not find better value for money.

Review 7:Paying for the shower. The hot water was over very quickly.

Review 8:The kitchen was large and very well-equipped. There was even foodstuff (such as ketchup) from earlier guests that we could use. There was also a comfy living room next to the kitchen. The host was very helpful and kind, she suggested hike routes and sights in the area and printed out the weather forecast for us. As the house was not fully booked, we were given an extra room for more comfort.

Review 9:extra charge for bed linen and hot water in the shower

Review 10:Very beautiful landscape around, wonderful hostess, good beds and kitchen, it was very useful to dry cloths in a special room.

Review 11:Facilities is a little bit outdated. But considering what you're paying you can't really complain.

Review 12:Stunning location, great value for money. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 13:1. No one was present when we arrived and we had to find our room by a sticker on the door (this seems to be a custom in that area as no one is attending their businesses early ours of the morning and they usually pop out at evenings.... day breakers!) 2. Different areas of this guest house smell bad, especially the staircase corridors, and the showers. 3. The place is not clean up to a professional standard, cleaning can definitely be improved. 4. Showers and bedsheets are for an extra charge, and showers are not hot at all so that's a big turn down (the kitchen or toilet sink water is warmer than the showers) 5. There was no WiFi, we had to drive to Hordatun Hotel near Roldal to get internet. 6. I would not recommend staying for more than 1 night, this place is good in case you are just passing by from the area 7. With a little bit of attention, care, professional cleaning, and renovation this place can be a jewel on the mountains of Hara

Review 14:The only nice thing is the location which is absolutely brilliant, you wake up to 3 waterfalls when having breakfast and you are an hour away from Trolltunga, 15 minutes to Roldal, and 3 hours to Flåm, Gudvangen, or Haugesund however the place is very neglected and can be far much better with a few simple improvements. The hotel owner was helpful and kind when present.

Review 15:Small room, bad mattress. Hot water for 10 NOK for 4 minutes. Only one toilets for all floor. Only one shower for all cottage and in second cottage were next showers.

Review 16:Good price in this location.

Review 17:The term cottages is misleading. It is a dorm like hostel and a bad one at that. There was exactly one working shower head out of 6 bathrooms. You have to pay 10 NOK for 4 minutes of hot water. After a couple showers, there is no more hot water. Linens cost extra. 4 Sheet sets and one towel cost 375 NOK.

Review 18:The heater room to dry equipment worked well, but it might be a fire hazard.

Review 19:The lodge is very clean and comfortable. Also the owner is very lovely and hospitable. The location is perfect if you're staying in winter on a skii holiday!! The scenery around the lodge is also fantastic. :)

Review 20:Shower for money (but it seems to be like this in all cheap places)

Review 21:The owner Randi was great.Gave us some tips on tourist roads. We came to Odda in high season with no booking, so everything was booked but this place had some rooms. Great view from kitchen. Rooms and kitchen was fine. You get what you pay for so dont wait red carpet but for short stays totally ok! On our way from odda saw great waterfalls which we would not have seen if stayed somewhere else.

Review 22:Showers are NOK 10 for 6 mins. No wifi. You have to walk a couple of hundred meters to the foot of the ski centre and try to pick up the rather faint free wifi signal. Troublesome, but workable. All notices posted in the place are only in Norwegian. English would help, thank you. :)

Review 23:Good value for money in a simple basic facility. Kitchen was well stocked. Lovely view out across from the dining and common room windows. The lady who runs the place is friendly and helpful.

Review 24:When your 10 kronor runs out in the shower, the shower goes FREEZING cold...

Review 25:The owner Randi, is extremely helpful. The kitchen is well equipped. The accommodation is very clean and good value for the price.

Review 26:- no Wifi - Shower 10 nok, only one shower for 3 floors, but if you want to walk in the cold and wet weather you can walk to the other building for more showers. - only one toilet for 5 rooms - outdated and didn't look clean - you have to take your own bedding. - no double beds available only bunk beds.

Review 27:- friendly staff - complete kitchen, but sometimes you have to wait for others to use it. - nice view! - cheap only 33 euro's for a room.

Review 28:The beds aren't amazingly comfortable and the shower rooms are a little tired, but can't really complain for the price!

Review 29:You won't find anywhere cheaper than this in the area, and it is in a beautiful location and handy for getting to some beautiful hiking locations etc. It's basically a hotel so you get what you pay for really.

Review 30:Very good price! We only needed a place to sleep one night on our road trip and this vas just that. You get what you pay for, so don't expect much. Bed linen not included. You need to clean the room yourself after the stay. Bathroom in the hall. Bunk beds and shared kitchen.

Review 31:In the hut there's not internet - you can connect from outside to the owner's Internet if your phone is strong enough. Worth noting - there are no stores close so you have to buy food in the city - but you can cook it in the hut!

Review 32:The description is about the whole hut, not the hostel building. This is the best place we've stayed in the whole trip in Norway! It's a fully stuffed wooden hut with fantastic view over the fjord. You have a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 3 sleeping rooms so you can fit a lot of people in. We regret we could stay only for one night. Totally recommend it for anyone who wants to experience living like a local :)

Review 33:Kitchen supplies are old, aluminium pans cleaned in dishwasher.

Review 34:Nice house, quit, good surrounding, the owner does offer WIFI but you have to be outside to get access.

Review 35:We stayed there summer time, needed a place to sleep for Trolltunga hike. Maybe winter time, when you come for skiing is totally different experience, but now was not so exciting. Basic house and looks like home staff or something. Tiny room, really outdated, no place to hang outside, no bench or anything to sit on. Come, sleep and go.

Review 36:The only thing we liked about this stay is how cheap it was, considering norwegian prices. Also clean.

Review 37:Beds. Mind that you pay Double price after you take linens and bathroom of 4minutes that are not included.tricky.

Review 38:The view from the kitchen. Price. Kitchen has all the stuff to prepare a meal - very comfortable.

Review 39:You get what you pay for. The rooms are small and the shower cost 10kr but in my opinion this is fair for this price.

Review 40:Cheap, good common facilities and a very nice hoast lady who made sure everything was ok and gave os tips for our stay.

Review 41:It was hard to find. No directions in the booking confirmation. Neither a sign on the outside of the cottages. Never met anyone. Didn`t get the chance to ask for bed sheets or a towel. There was no one to talk to so we just had to manage with what we had.

Review 42:The heating system was really good. The common areas were fine.

Review 43:Reasonable price. it is a convenient place if you want to stay for one night during your trip, everything is very simple - room, kitchen, etc. But you could find all necessary things. If you like comfort it is not your choice.

Review 44:hot shower water for 10 crowns

Review 45:we were actually 3 persons, me, my boyfriend and his father. When the lady saw us she just offered us extra room for free, because it was empty. I was really surprised with this kindness =) i also liked the kitchen.

Review 46:nothing to complain about

Review 47:Considering you are in Norway, and everything is expensive, this place has very good value indeed. Staff was very nice and offered us an extra room for free. Great shared kitchen per floor with everything needed to cook a proper dinner after an adventurous day. Separate (shared) chill-out room (per floor). Very pleasant stay!

Review 48:The cottage were waiting for us with an open door, warm rooms and a friendly atmosphere even in the absence of Randy, the owner. We have appreciated very much her confiance in us.

Review 49:Our "Three-Bedroom House" is an old poorly-maintaned house which previously belonged to died father-in-lay of its today's owner. The main problems are electricity and heating - we could not make several rooms warm because electricity was swictched off every time when we turned on more than two heaters simultaneously. But the front door and windows were very thin and could not keep any warmth inside. Also the both bathrooms were very cold and became so-so warm only to the next morning. The owner did nothing to prepare the house for our arriving and to make it warm. Also, there was even no kettle in the kitchen!

Review 50:Only nice view from the window to a lake.

Review 51:The room and facilities are pretty basic, but you can't complain value-wise. Note that fresh bed linen costs 90 NOK extra.

Review 52:It was good to have the option of using the shared kitchen and lounge. The location is handy for skiing or if you just want to be in the mountains. The owner was away, but a very helpful friend/colleague came by to give us fresh sheets (at a cost) and welcome us.

Review 53:If you are 190cm or taller bads might feel a bit short, but it is minor ;)

Review 54:Place is awesome in term of location and value for money. It is might not be fancy, but you got: cuzy clean rooms, nice social hall, fully equipped kitchen, shower and drying rooms for ski gear in less than 1 min walk from the slopes. Could not ask for more. Lady, who owns the plca, is a very kind and friendly, so you got a bit of "feeling like home" touch.

Review 55:No real complaints, we had an issue that when we arrived the house was completely empty and we had to showel the way to it because of some 60cm snow but on the way, but it was okay since the snowfall was really exceptional. Also during our second stay we had to pay for shower, which was not stated in the reservation letter, but after a message to owner she arrived and gave us free fake coins, so it was okay in the end, too :) It was also not really clean, but maybe we arrived before the winter season.

Review 56:Nice price, good location, big kitchen.

Review 57:The cottage is very old, the furniture is old too and all the things inside. Dishes exists but can not be used because they are not in good condition. Heating and electricity do not work properly.

Review 58:Looks like a haunted house and you can have fun with friends (you can scare your friends) :)

Review 59:Be careful with the extra fees of the bed linens! We knew we had to pay something for them, but we never expected we would have to pay 90 NOK per each set (which was almost the same we paid each person per night)!!! The house is not the one shown on the pictures, the landlord sent us an sms that day to tell us a new direction, which was 10 min away from the address on Booking. The house wasn't in very good shape. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have nowhere else to stay.

Review 60:Have to pay for the shower, in my room the window was opening into some closed dusty corridor with no fresh air at all coming to the room. Some students stayed that night and they were extremely noisy till 1am.

Review 61:Location and price are unbeatable

Review 62:Needs maintenance and repairs in places Very dated/old Most of the kitchen seemed like it needed cleaning

Review 63:Plenty of room Well equipped kitchen Comfortable living areas Nice views

Review 64:Wi-fi only in one public place/room. No market around. Small and dark room. Need coins for shower.

Review 65:Friedly staff, but you must call them before arrive. Free wi-fi and parking. Great kitchen for free. Good price

Review 66:- rooms should be bigger - shower in the next building - wifi only in a special area

Review 67:- unforgettable view - good location for moving around - close to Trolltunga, Latefoss, Langfoss - pleasent staff - kitchen is totally equiped

Review 68:We rented cottage for 11 people + small room for 3 people in the main building. Cottage was perfect for our group! Fully equipped kitchen and big living room where we could sit and eat all together in the same time! The view from window is amazing. And location is very good: just 1 hour by car from Trolltunga (it was our goal)! The only minus was 1 shower that is for free. Other showers are shared with people from the main building and we had to pay for these showers with coins. It's not a problem, just it would be nice to know in advance. In general, I think we couldn't find something better for us - big company of friends who was going to visit Trolltunga! Especially for this price! It was really nice stay in Haradalen Cottages.

Review 69:+ signs are missing if you are driving from odda side, it comes before you reach Roldal, so be sure of it. However, this is not something to complain about as the staff would guide you if you are on call. + pay 10 NOK extra for four mins of hot water, if you would like to have a shower, well this is again not to complain about considering the cost of the hostel

Review 70:+ this is one of the multiple locations horadalen cottages are placed in + the lady in charge was extremely nice and would even offer an additional room for free since it was available + extremely supports a budget friendly accommodation + located with a great view right after roldal tunnel while coming from odda side

Review 71:Entry way a bit cluttered - would not take much to clear up but is obviously the status quo Showers are 10Kr for 4mins - first shower was fine but hot water ran out halfway through second shower - not pleasant on a cold morning after a long hike the day before

Review 72:Value for money Plenty of space in common areas

Review 73:The room was small and the little wardrobe was broken. The pillows and the sheet were not so clean, remember to bring your own sleeping bag. There is no reception, so you have to call the owner before arriving also to have information on how to arrive there because there are not indications in the street.

Review 74:The common kitchen was fully furnished and there was the wifi available in the common living room in the main building.

Review 75:the only unexpected thing was that you need to pay for shower (10,- kr per 4 minutes).

Review 76:we stayed at the cottage on the way to trolltunga - the location is perfect, it takes about 30 min to drive to skjeggedal from there (where the hike is starting from). a huge and comfortable living room that can fit all the guests, clean and comfortable bedrooms. very welcoming and helpful host Randi.

Review 77:I loved everything about the place. the rooms were nice sized very cute and comfortable with sturdy wooden bunk beds. very clean. had a nice kitchen in each wing of the cottage and it had showers that people can use. hot or cold water worked ok. the value was amazing and so is the owner!!!! thank you for making us comfortable far away from home. the best thing was the three waterfalls you saw out of the kitchen window. not bad for a good coffee moment. awesome little place and if you're snowboarding or skiing its right next to the ski center in rhodal, odda

Review 78:The tenant is a nice older woman, so helpful, accommodating, and sweet. I hiked to trolltunga from there, a bus came at 7 am and took me straight to the drop off point so it was perfect.

Review 79:Window from sleeping room is facing wall which is on photo hidden behind curtain.

Review 80:Nice big shower/toilet room. Well equipped kitchen. Fantastic view from kitchen to mountains. Friendly owner and easy check-in.

Review 100:We had a car, but might be tricky to get to using public transport.
