Reviews for Stamford Plaza Brisbane

Review 1:We were woken at 430 am by room service advising our breakfast was outside. Door bell and phone calls. We didn't order room service breakfast! Very annoying and inconvenient. All we got was 'very sorry'. Hope they review their procedures. My advice is to triple check with front desk that there is no room service allocated to your room if you don't want this to happen to you.

Review 2:Great location by the river and short walk to main shopping area and South Bank. Pool, gym and sauna are very good. Received an upgrade to a larger room which was nice. We were able to use facilities and shower/change late in the day after checking out as we had an evening flight. Buffet breakfast was included and was also very good.

Review 3:I think the decor and furniture are in need of an update.

Review 4:The location was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. Thank you for the upgrade- it was a great way to celebrate our engagement :)

Review 5:Staff during breakfast, needed to ask for coffee the 2 days we stayed in There's a very high fee for Internet Or it's for free in the public areas applying all the time with an archaic system Hotel Parking is freaking expensive like in Paris or Berlin (Brisbane is nice but not the size or busy as other cities) Gym is very small and busy. During a rainy day had to wait 22 for the only bike. Swimming pool is nice but after 2 pm the sun is over as it gets on the other side of the building

Review 6:Location is excellent even though it's quite easy to walk around Brisbane. Room was ok nothing extraordinary.

Review 7:Unfortunately the air con was not on at arrival and very warm overnight, but then dropped at 6 am. This was the main complaint of a recent trip advisor comment too. Plus the fridge door hinge was broken preventing acccess. Suggest this is put on checkout checklist

Review 8:Friendly staff on reception and in the room Facilities gym pool view

Review 9:Some issues with restaurants. One we booked at did not have our reservation. Had to be called back each time as they were busy but onectomecthey never called back. We booked in to one of their restaurants for lunch with friends a table of 10. They did not advise at the time if booking or when we confirmed that is was a buffet lunch or that it would be a 15% surcharge for PHol or that we could not split the bill.

Review 10:We Upgraded at a cost to a suite which had great views of the fireworks for New Year's Eve

Review 11:Requested room to view fireworks and although on top floor had very limited view of river and none of fireworks. Disappointing!

Review 12:Central location to ferry, botanical gardens, city and South bank. Bed very comfortable Bfast good.

Review 13:On the 20th floor with views up and down the river. Easy walk into the CBD and if energetic an easy walk to south bank (30 min) Ferries and restaurants all close by

Review 14:Excellent hotel at a very good location close to the botanic garden and the pier with lots of food options (including award winning restaurants). We recommend first class Japanese restaurant Sake at the pier. A boat ride on the river is also a must. At Stamford Plaza we had the Christmas Lunch which was exceptional, the seafood section and the dessert buffet was heavenly.

Review 15:Booking process too complicated and did not produce the desired outcome. 1. Attended reception in person to be told I could not book accommodation there, telephoned to book a junior suite to be told none available. Asked to be put on a wait list. Booked my own junior suite online and called to confirm that the suite would be fitted out with twin beds for my mother and I. On arrival Only a king bed was available. A rollout was provided which delivered a very uncomfortable sleep on both nights.

Review 16:Location, views, pool, quality of food.

Review 17:Breakfast food considered ordinary for a top end hotel and the tarrif charged. Also there apeared to be a shortage of staff on duty in the restaurant, as if there had been staff cutbacks.

Review 18:Location

Review 19:Beautiful hotel. Check in was seamless and the 2 girls behind the desk looked after me. They were warm, welcoming, friendly and brilliant at their job!

Review 20:carpets were stained and bed not made very well. we had no shampoo or soaps.

Review 21:staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. room had a beautiful view.

Review 22:Ironing boards are terrible. Paid $445 for a night, Ironing board has no rubber feet on front, asked for another one, they brought up a board with the same issue. Iron fell off and almost burned me during the process. At the room rate surely you guys can get a decent board form bunnings for $60!

Review 23:Clean, nice and good location.

Review 24:We stayed at the Stamford for our wedding, we stayed two nights, it was lovely. The night of our wedding we arrived home to find a bottle of sparkling wine and a letter wishing us congratulations and good luck. It was a lovely gesture.

Review 25:the nasi goreng is very ordinary indeed. no plug or grate for bathroom sink, anything dropped will go straight down the U bend!

Review 26:Excellent view of the river, great location. No issues with the room, but a hard copy of the hotel facilities would have been helpful.

Review 27:50 dollars is too much for Peking on site, that's per night. I guess that's how the room is fairly cheap they make extra on parking.

Review 28:Breakfast was awesome!

Review 29:Nothing! Everything was ridiculously perfect :)

Review 30:The staff went above and beyond to assist us - my husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and he lost the key to the padlock on his suitcase. Concierge worked hard for over 10 minutes but finally managed to break it open for him, we were so grateful!

Review 31:Our second room didn't have seperate switches to turn off the bed lamps so that when the lamps were on the whole rooms lights were on too

Review 32:We were a little disappointed with our view so the staff moved us three times til we were happy, they were very attentive and eager to help

Review 33:Our week-end was for 3 couples one of whom's accommodation was paid for as surprise birthday present. On the morning of checkout staff tried billing a breakfast charge too each of the 3 rooms. NO breakfast was had in the Hotel at all during our stay by any of the 3 couples & no proof of signature for the breakfast dining etc could be produced by staff & consequently the breakfast charge removed from each account. I can only assume that somebody had breakfast & used one or all 3 room No's!

Review 34:Stayed in this Hotel for many years under its old name & never forgot how nice it was then & still is now.

Review 35:1. Food prices - Pav Bar & In-Room Dining, 2. the coffee 2. Paying for Wi Fi

Review 36:1. Very comfortable bed 2. Location - quiet 3. Location - close to restaurants 4. Location - overlooking the river

Review 37:I was surprised that a hotel that rates it's itself so highly doesn't provide features I have experienced at other class hotels around the world. Like toothbrush, hairbrush etc in the bathroom. Breakfast certainly wasn't to the level I would have expected in regard to continental offerings. The basics are done well but the extra touches aren't there.

Review 38:Staff were really warm and welcoming. Location of course is great.

Review 39:We stayed in a deluxe room and my husband and i were thrilled with it. I've stayed in quite a few hotels and this one was definitely the cleanest. The attention to detail was really fantastic. The pillow menu made us feel very spoilt. Crib for bub was setup and staff even attempted to make him a little pillow out of a towel and a pillow case which was sweet. Gorgeous view. Pool/spa was lovely. Breakfast was out of this world. There was nothing bad i could say about the place. I will be coming back :)

Review 40:I was a little disappointed in the room service, I arrived late and ordered fish and chips, it tasted fine but presentation was not terrific and also I would have liked a Sauvignon Blanc option in the Mini Bar.

Review 41:Loved the location and the room was comfortable.

Review 42:They upgraded us to a lovely room on a top floor with a beautiful view of the city. Very comfy bed, great breakfast (I loved the gluten free corner, a plus for me since I am allergic to gluten)

Review 43:having to pay extra for parking and also if you wanted a real coffee at breakfast it was also extra. This is annoying

Review 44:great location for the Riverfire night

Review 45:Each time I try to book there are wildly different rates quoted. Hotel is beginning to look shabby and rooms out dated. Inadequate AC in the room. No opening windows. Some bistro staff clothes looked down market.

Review 46:The location and the overall beauty of the hotel. Staff are OK but not a stand out.

Review 47:This is a quality hotel in an excellent position and you can get a noon check out at no additional charge and you can leave your car parked there until 2 pm so it gives you plenty of time to look around the city.

Review 48:There was an incident where the valet couldn't find our keys to our car. He was very rude which dampend the stay a bit

Review 49:The location is excellent. The room was lovely and the front desk staff are very helpful.

Review 50:Room was tired and in need of an upgrade; cracked paintwork, chipped varnish on woodenware and the like. A number of poorly dressed staff (cracked and dirty shoes). Female staff at breakfast with shirt tails hanging out. Very poor breakfast service (both mornings) with empty food trays, not sufficient staff to cope with guests, forgetful staff (tea, coffee and cutlery), plastic rattan unravelling from arms and legs on numerous chairs, empty salt and pepper shakers and milk jugs. Limited food choices at breakfast. Not what one would expect at a Stamford Plaza establishment.

Review 51:Concierge staff were polite and efficient when taking & delivering our car. Reception staff at both check-in & check-out were efficient.

Review 52:Breakfast was a disappointment. Crowded, slow to replace depleated food and three lots of dirty dishes - coffee cup at table, dinner plate and cutlery.

Review 53:Great room, excellent size and fantastic view.

Review 54:Variety of restaurants within the hotel made it convenient for us as we were attending a conference and working long hours during our stay. Stamford is always our choice of stay during our Brisbane work trips.

Review 55:The staff at breakfast bistro need a new supervisor who can sort them out. One only lady in her late 20s was fine but the rest were NBG This showed up down the line in cleanliness of the facility etc salt shakers empty, floors and tent linen needs a good clean, cane on the furniture needs a trim and tie up, the tables do need to have 4 feet on them otherwise they do rock and spill drinks and food. the coffee story is hopeless .. either offer a top class coffee or withdraw it. None of this rubbish of paying extra for a cold badly made dish washer "Barista Coffee". (Our local servo cleans you up with their very average coffee) The breakfast scene is badly managed and is letting down the Stamford Plaza brand. In passing may I add that the room furnishings should be very carefully packed and stowed until that style returns in vogue (it will). The drawings and some of the light shades need replacement to update them in the next 1-2 years. This needs addressing before they start to come up in commentary such as this one. You may think this harsh but it comes from someone who owns a business that deals with 3500 customers each week. We enjoyed your hotel and we appreciated the way you looked after our room stay. Your accommodation support areas are letting down your hotel and they are damaging your brand right now, so act on it before it shows in your figures. Your staff at reception and concierge would be upset with what is happening to their outstanding efforts. They are to be congratulated and supported with a firm hand.

Review 56:the staff at reception and concierge . super good the staff at room service etc very good The room was very clean well equipped most comfortable but on the edge of being dated

Review 57:Nothing major just that it was tricky to get the lights to work Couldn't figure out how to get the lamps on at all so room a bit dark

Review 58:Good location stayed there before so knew it would be nice again

Review 59:Very impressed with the Stamford as usual. Their level of quality and professionalism is 5 star as far as I am concerned. My wife, I and our little son thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend to anyone who asks

Review 60:Bad check-in - had no record of confirmed booking. Staff member's English troubling - took my phone with my booking no. on it. I forgot she had it in the confusion of the book-in. Had to go back and retrieve it from the safe - no message that reception still had it. Getting dated. $30 for a very average continental breakfast!!?

Review 61:Great bed. Fantastic view. Marvellous location.

Review 62:The shower could have been more cleaner.

Review 63:No troubles with check in and our room was beautiful and exactly as promised. All the staff were extremely helpful

Review 64:All staff were most helpful and the room exceptionally clean and beautifully appointed. From the time we first arrived until our departure the entire process was smooth and welcoming.

Review 65:The $50 cost of parking. This is usually inclusive with accommodation.

Review 66:The rooms were lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. The view was awesome. Will definitely visit again.

Review 67:The cheap toiletries and the breakfast was not what it has been.. feel like the standard has dropped dramatically. the bacon was that salty we couldn't eat it. the poached eggs were overcooked and there was no stewed fruit, just tinned. sounds a little picky but the breakfast has been a highlight in the past.

Review 68:The river views were sensational

Review 69:Lack of privacy when the curtains are open. The rooms looked into each other. I would have preferred a room further down the corridor which gave more view of the river and less looking into other guests rooms.

Review 70:Little disappointed there was no balconys apart of the hotel (non-smoking).

Review 71:Room stays nice and dark because of the curtains, we had a really good sleep in! Comfy pillows and huge bed!

Review 72:There was a lot of mould in the shower this was relayed to the front of counter staff. There was no mini bar check list to see what should be in the bar so how could we know what may have been used by previous guests

Review 73:Friendly staff and a good choice of food for breakfast

Review 74:There were little gimmicks which caught us out..we had a food and beverage voucher which turned out couldn't be used on advertised restaurants which we thought were affiliated with the hotel.

Review 75:We were treated like a king and queen for our stay on our wedding night. The comfort was extreme and the location superb. The hotel was happy to upgrade our room at no extra cost simply as I asked.

Review 76:The aircon has been turned off in the hallways...its bizzar!, my hearing in my room didn't work, as did a number of other people's! The light are on sensors....they go off when your on the toilet!

Review 77:Staff are alway great....great food too

Review 78:Staff were average, not as helpful or friendly as other luxury hotels we have stayed and Valet was really not that good. For the $50 fee we paid for our parking, you would think that the Valet would at least put our one piece of luggage into our car

Review 79:I liked the location and it was close to the Botanical Gardens.

Review 80:We were not told about buffet breakfast a work assoc told us after our 2 night stay. Wifi $25 after $275 per night was expensive. With no breakfast.

Review 81:Room service staff very helpful Although we bought the newspaper and it was taken before we had a chance to read it.Nice river view.

Review 82:I was disappointed that they charged me $50 to park my motorcycle over night. I often travel to 5 Star hotels on my bike and most do not charge for parking or have a lower rate for bikes than cars

Review 83:I love this hotel, I have been staying regularly for over 20 years and although it's not had a major upgrade it is still the most stylish hotel in Brisbane

Review 84:Nothing

Review 85:The professionalism of staff was outstanding We loved the overall feel of the hotel. This was our first time staying at the hotel and was very special as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Thank you

Review 86:We can't recall and bad experiences. Could mention that birds were flying in and around the outside breakfast dining area but that is after all the great outdoors. The TV remote function changing channels was too slow

Review 87:Very comfortable bed, great river views in a quiet room. We were contacted within minutes of arriving (in the room) if it was to our satisfaction. Happy hour at the Pav Bar was enjoyable.

Review 88:The acoustic separation is well under current standards. Did not enjoy listening to others fornication. I'm a commercial builder, done loads of this work. Door seals would help. TV function is annoying.

Review 89:Super staff, good location

Review 90:The cost to park my vehicle was totally ridiculous compared to accommodation cost. A 750ml bottle of still water, $10!!!!!!! That is worthy of a ACCC investigation.

Review 91:Location, location, location.

Review 92:When we arrived there was no hot water in our room however they really went out of their way to resolve the problem, upgraded us to another room and provided some beautiful extras. There is no bread on the breakfast buffet apart from processed sliced white or sliced wholegrain bread or very oily (prebuttered) English muffins in the hot food section). Some lovely whole fresh baked loaves, sour doughs or baguettes(French sticks) would have been nice and a great deal healthier.

Review 93:Amazing service, beautiful rooms and especially quality attention to make us feel special and exceptional care to sort out a problem.

Review 94:We always choose the Stamford Plaza for its location, awesome breakfast, large rooms and amazing views! We will keep coming back here - its definatley our favourtie.

Review 95:Didn't really impress with the breakfast, was expecting like more hot foods vareity? and the par kings!

Review 96:Of corse the river views and close to the botanic gardens and ither amenities......

Review 97:Booking was an adhoc one, however with Emma's help, booking felt like a breeze. Mentioned the situation with Emma, to which, out of goodwill and initiative, provided with late checkout. Kudos for the terrific customer service that was provided.

Review 98:No subtitles for the hard of hearing on the TV

Review 99:Staff were very good / polite / helpful / interested in how we got on. Room was good with view of river and bridge. Special offer buffet lunch was excellent

Review 100:If I had to pick holes, all I could say is it would be nice if I could of opened a window for some fresh air , but that's it

Review 101:The rooms were very nice, the staff helpful and friendly, we checked in and were told we had been upgraded to better room and also later check out time- all complimentary !

Review 102:I would expect a 5 star hotel to have an ipod/music dock to play music but instead there was a CD/radio. That was a bit disappointing.

Review 103:Views from the room were great, the bathroom was large and the bath excellent. The bed was really comfy.

Review 104:Didnt like that only the public areas has wifi- the room we had only had a paid cable. Pool does not have a bar. Only way is to call for room seevice and end up being charged a call out fee of $5.00 on top of drinks.

Review 105:The view of the river, the tastefully 'old' antique furniture. Very helpful staff and loved the gf range of items on the table. Never had a tv in the bathroom before which was nice to try.

Review 106:Hot water produced black bits and nothing hot or warm. Checkout at 11 am with difficulty extending. Bar closes before 1130 on a friday night? Where do you redeem free drink vouchers? Not at the bar.

Review 107:Great location and friendly staff

Review 108:no english newspaper, couch in suite has no support,no turn down service,no fresh towels at night ,could not work out bath plugs so we could not have a bath ,bfast no one cleared our plates or re-fill of coffee,2% surcharge for credit card use, extremely disappointed

Review 109:view

Review 110:The staff in the restaurant were rude and lacked any hospitality training. A note to the hotel, if you advertise that breakfast is served until 10:30am you should not start moving tables and preparing for lunch. My partner and I were trying to enjoy a leisurely breakfast by the river...when we complained the Manager was unhelpful. Overall, don't waste you money - eat breakfast outside the hotel.

Review 111:We loved the size of the room and location of the hotel.

Review 112:I didn't like having to pay for parking our car.

Review 113:The upgrade to a higher floor was excellent. The service upon arrival was polite and efficient. Check in was simple.

Review 114:Hotel is looking a bit tired, but still classy.

Review 115:Location - close to eagle st pier for dining out options. Spending time in the spa at 6am & having the pool to myself.

Review 116:I called my sister on her mobile (an Australian number) and was charged $83 for a 26minute conversation. I had already discussed phone calls with the receptionist on check-in - at no point did she mention mobile calls from the hotel phone are charged at a long distance rate. The next morning I was told this was "general knowledge" (I'm a UK citizen) and given a pen as compensation. My complaint has been dismissed by the General Manager based on false information. I'm furious and disappointed. Rest assured I will not darken the Stamford Plaza's doorway again and will be taking this up with the Trading Standards Authority.

Review 117:I've always liked the view, the beds and breakfast.

Review 118:Nothing bad to say - loved everything about the Stamford!

Review 119:Check in was fast and the staff extremely pleasant. We had a great room overlooking the river and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to leave!

Review 120:The price of breakfast goes up for weekends. Why? Room price varies too much during week.

Review 121:Gym and pool, running track beside river and next to botanical gardens. Lovely breakfast and meals location

Review 122:From the moment we walked in to the time we left. I wish to thank all the staff for being so welcoming and friendly. Everyone had a smile and was so helpful. Compliments to the chef for our amazing in room dining banquet. Seafood platter, lamb shanks, fruit platter, cheese & crackers. And especially our complimentary champagne. Nice touch. Loved our stay. Will definitely stay again. Thank you

Review 123:Check in took a long time, wifi cost was extra but by upgrading to a nicer room it was included - wifi should be included. At the checkin counter the light shades were dirty and dusty making me question how my room would be - not a good 1st impression

Review 124:cleaning service only at 4pm, when i first got into the bathroom there was hair from the previous visitors, being "green" and not having your beds made also means you're not getting new toilet paper or shower gel...

Review 125:nice facilities, friendly staff, good breakfast and excellent locaction by the river.

Review 126:The furniture needs an overhaul is very aged - the breakfasts are not as good as they used to be - and no one at desk welcomes guests who have been coming for years - we were even on the 22nd floor when the big flood arrived and we had to walk down and all electricity was turned off for the night - nothing is recognized - management needs to lift its game..

Review 127:Love the location - have been coming for many years -

Review 128:no record of our 2nd room booking even i had booking.com confirmation with me, than it took some begging to get 2nd room. once at home i was charged for 3 rooms.more begging by emails to get it fixed. leaving me and our guests standing and waiting till we got 2nd room. breakfast is not comparable to the other 5star hotels in brisbane. it was busy but the staff did not manage the supply of new food and clean tables! the new management need to get their act together. ps 50 dollars for parking!!!

Review 129:our room, riverviews and park nearby

Review 130:Loved everything about my stay at Stamford Plaza.

Review 131:Loved the hotel location with a magnificent view of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge. Great restaurant on site and a short walk to a variety of riverfront eateries. Room very clean and comfortable, Room service was fantastic with great menu options.

Review 132:I was a little disappointed as the side table when the table lamp was put on there were hand and arm marks on the table.

Review 133:When you arrive you are always met with a lovely greeting, also at reception.

Review 134:We had dinner one night at the hotel's restaurant Brasserie, they had untrained staff and we expected higher quality of food. It took 3 attempts to bring out the correct order for my partner and even then the food was cold and not the best.

Review 135:Staff was fantastic. We were celebrating our anniversary and they went the extra mile and prepared a bottle of sparkling wine and a lovely letter for us. Also they arranged a room on one of the top floors. Buffet breakfast at the Brasserie was lovely.
