Reviews for Hotel Grand Chancellor Brisbane

Review 1:nowhere to hang your clothes in the bathroom ... chocolate biscuit ice cream sandwich 'too hard' unable to break it with a fork let alone a spoon .

Review 2:Decor, comfort, breakfast choice and quality and all staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful.

Review 3:Complimentary Toothbrushes would be great! The sliding door to our bathroom was a bit sticky.

Review 4:Modern, well-presented property with great views up the Brisbane River. The facilities were good and Queen St was very close as was the Roma St Gardens.

Review 5:Only two disappointments... 1st _ access to swimming pool shut at 10pm, we missed it by 15mins... better signage near lift notifying of times would be better.. 2nd and Major disappointment was on checking out the Assistant manager we felt was very cold, definitely not friendly, she was in a hurry to dismiss us, and not open to any questions about future bookings. Left us with a really disappointing feelings. A major contrast to the lady who checked us in who was open, friendly answered all our questions almost excited, warm feeling.

Review 6:A separate BATH!!! bedroom, Kitchen etc.. TV in each room was lovely... The Superior suit was AMAZING, views were fantastic. We chose this for our belated honeymoon.. also the complimentary Peter Morrison was a nice touch.. felt luxurious... definitely we want to book next years anniversary...

Review 7:Pillows did not suit me, but that's a very personal thing; may be fine for most people.

Review 8:Walking distance from city and transport. Spacious room. Good facilities. Excellent value for money.

Review 9:Nothing bad

Review 10:Very happy helpful staff, clean, quiet and comfortable room. Cosy with a very comfy bed. Dinning room and bar was well set out. Although I didn't eat this time, I have previously and the food was very good. Will stay again.

Review 11:Customer service skills should be uniform across organisations. Very helpful young woman on reception , snooty male colleague and grumpy housekeeper. Refresher training required.

Review 12:The most comfortable bed in Australia. Excellent location and very kindly allowed an early check in.

Review 13:This place is amazing! The staff were fantastic, the room was georgeous and we felt so welcomed in the hotel! This will definately become a New Years tradition! We will be back for sure! And such a great price! You definitely get more then you pay for!

Review 14:Swimming pool water is too dirty found some flies and shits ...and water is too cold in the morning and no hot tub

Review 15:Very calm place and staffs are good ... I extend my stay for one hour they didn't ask me to pay and again extended for an hour they did for me very friendly and helpful staffs ...

Review 16:You get 30 minutes free Internet one time only. After that, it costs $5/hour. In a hilly part of town so those with mobility issues would have walking problems.

Review 17:Our decent-sized room had a lovely view over the river and an excellent rain shower. Everything was clean and worked just as it should. Convenient underground parking is only $20 through to midnight the next night. A stroll to the city only takes fifteen minutes, or you can catch the nearby bus to the CBD post office for free. Good value for money.

Review 18:No plug in bathroom sink other than that it was a fantastic stay and I would stay there again

Review 19:It was quiet and convenient and comfortable. The best shower I have ever had in a hotel!

Review 20:The cleaning people have no consideration they are knocking in the door as early as 8:00am. Check out supposed to be 10:00am. I have stayed in many 4.5-5 star hotels around the world and have not experienced being kicked out before your check out time. Not impressed at all.

Review 21:Nothing to be impressed

Review 23:Nice room location good

Review 24:No towels on the second night and was asked to come down and collect them, when I couldn't I was told a 10-15 min wait. We were also charged incorrectly for beverages we didn't have and the staff member was disbelieving of us

Review 25:The bed was comfortable and free parking was good

Review 26:I did not have any bad experiences, movies to rent on the TV where a little expensive but that is about it!

Review 27:the room was well spaced out (studio) and very comfy bed! The bathroom was a great size for the room with a large shower and vanity. Overall it was easy to call home for a few days.

Review 28:Staff were unorganised and unwilling to help. Upon check in, our second room booking had been canceled by someone at the hotel, not us. However, the manager rang someone and booked us a second room with no waiting time, which was great. The next day, we rang reception to ask for a steamer as we were a wedding party and the dresses had become slightly wrinkled, they told us they were too busy to help us.

Review 29:Good location.

Review 30:The bed I slept on was horrible. Didn't matter where or how I layed in the bed I had springs poking into me.

Review 31:Was well situated for the purpose of our travel and staff were lovely.

Review 32:The staff were extremely helpful at all times. The beds were lovely and comfy. The location was great, easy to get into the city, especially the free loop bus.

Review 33:Balcony size was extremely small. Bed felt like it had bed bugs. The buffet was an absolute rip off. Lucky we didn't waste money. $28 for a buffet which had nothing too exciting.

Review 34:The size of the actual room & bathroom/shower. Free over night parking.

Review 35:We did not like that we had to wait 2 hours for room service. And we also didn't like that there was only one sign that lead to the spa.. bit still could not find it.. very disappointing

Review 36:We loved the always friendly staff and service. As well as the pool.

Review 37:Okay seriously the fact theres no balcony or window was really uncomfortable in the king rooms on level 2, cos there's absolutely no fresh air or air circulation apart from the aircon . Would still give the room 5 stars though :)

Review 38:Amazing new refurbished rooms & the king bed is amazing. Also the bathroom & shower heads are so good

Review 39:All arond the edge of the room was thickbwith dust fridge was so disgustingly dirty we were given a new one, chair thick with dust and bits of food on floor near fridge. Rang housekeeping and was offered a new room but chose to have room recleaned instead. Still food near fridge and dust still right on the edge off carpet. Got an apology and a box of chocolates. Not sure i would stay again.

Review 40:Location to St Andrews Hospital

Review 41:I had to leave

Review 42:Close to evrything especially those beautiful Roma St. Gardens and a lovely stroll to the cbd and river - I wanted to stay an extra night and they gave me the same rate - staff polite professional - everything nice, easy friendly

Review 43:Limited alternative food options regarding other restaurants or take-away near by. Room service menu a bit ordinary.

Review 44:Great location & short distance to BNE city & St Andrews hospital. Comfortable rooms, clean. Great restaurant, very tasty & reasonably priced menu. Free bus to city option.

Review 45:As I had medical appointments at St Andrews (across the road) the location was great but also only a 15 minute walk or $10 cab fare into the CBD. The restaurant, while a limited menu, offered great food and service.

Review 46:the room extremely comfortable - most importantly the bed..and a coffee machine in the room was awesome. Buffet breaky delicious....loved being so close to roma st parklands.

Review 47:Good location, friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast - liked the 2 for one voucher as we didn,t have breakfast included in the room price.

Review 48:They loved the room and the view and all the facilities - the staff were extremely nice and made their might highly enjoyable

Review 49:Was a gift for newly wed couple

Review 50:musty smell of room no bathroom fan no free wifi edges of carpets hadn't been cleaned entering and exiting shower was difficult due to shower door the spa was cold no explanation that the room card was needed to start the lift

Review 51:the view the staff Frescos

Review 52:Got in just after 10pm went to the bar to get a drink after a long flights for them to tell me the bar was closed. Then went back up to my room and ordered room service. Ordered a bolognese pasta it tasted like plastic it had been reheated . Not sure how long it had been sitting around. The sauce was blan no flavour and watery. It was disgusting sent it back. They didn't have enough staff on hand and the lady from front reception brought up my food . Never again

Review 53:Last two times we have stayed we have had rooms on lower floors which face onto other buildings; terrible! Just don't feel that we're treated very well given how often we stay there. Very loyal members.

Review 54:The price this time! We are loyal GC Reward members as the location is good for our daughter.

Review 55:Sleep was difficult initially due to the blue light from the digital clock.

Review 56:Love the newly renovated room, comfy bed, clean new bathroom and most of all, free parking in the city.

Review 57:It was old and dated, the bed was something you would expect to find in a back packers room.

Review 58:What I booked from the website was what not what I got when I arrived, horribly disappointed!!

Review 59:lifts are slow and dodgy and the annoying electronic cards needed to operate them were temperamental with everyone that used them. Place is better placed as a business stay not a leisure stay. Our first room and floor was in the middle of painting, the carpet had a massive stain and carpet shown traced of wet areas on edges to bathroom. asked for room change and Second room was cleaner but the shower area flooded when the shower was used on full for a period. We were lucky enough to be booked on the same weekend as the QLD cheerleaders annual convention, just imagine masses of young and mostly unchaperoned kids yelling from balconies and bouncing in rooms. If this was a known then floors should have been allocated to just the noisy, instead of disrupting all and sundry.

Review 60:location - next to roma gardens park

Review 61:It is quite a distance from the CBD.Due to the climb up the hill it would require a taxi if you were older or had lots of luggage. There is also nothing much around the hotel.

Review 62:The most wonderful bed I have ever slept in at a hotel!!!!!Loved all the little extras.Bottled water, nuts, robes, slippers and many other bathroom supplies.

Review 63:Badly leaking shower and It was a longstanding problem judging from rust and mould around the leak exit.It left a pool of water on the floor. Value for money wasn't there.

Review 64:Close to specialist at hospital.

Review 65:Very loud machinery noise outside the room. Not enough electric light in the room No light switch in the bathroom Water leaking in the bathroom door Tiny shower for a superior room Tap was loose Cups were not washed one day

Review 66:Complimentary sparkling water plus nuts was very much appreciated. free parking on weekend. Great idea. Bed was comfortable plus pillows Cleanliness

Review 67:Room and bathroom not cleaned properly on second day.i

Review 68:Staff looked after me when airline lost my luggage .Generous with parking.Bar staff great with$10 breakfasts excellent service.

Review 69:The breakfast is too expensive. Also the in-home movies are expensive also. The pool is also a little small.

Review 70:The room is always cleaned. The reception of the t.v is excellent. Was also nice to have an espresso machine too.The staff were very friendly too.

Review 71:All of the staff where very friendly and helpful. The room and the entire hotel was very beautiful and comfortable. We found the distance from the city an easy walk in the evenings if we took the path along the top of the Roma st Parklands.

Review 72:The room we were in smelt musky. stale water. ok once room was opened up but we went out came back and it still smelt. Through out the night I was woken up by the smell so I had to open the balcony door

Review 73:View was òk.

Review 74:Being a accused not asked but accused of not checking out not beencharged the right amount for the room got charged double still haventgot a refund or an email ad promised but recieved 3 phone calls that wehave not payed for our meal and mini bar when clearly the invoice stateswe have???? Very disappointed!!!

Review 75:It was close to the stadium suncorp.

Review 76:When I made the booking it specified there would be a balcony, upon checking in, I found the room had no balcony. When checking out the next day, I mentioned that I thought I'd booked a room with a balcony, and was told that I had, but needed to ask for one when booking - not impressed at all.

Review 77:The room had recently been refurbished, so looked quite modern.

Review 78:Yet to not like.

Review 79:I always enjoy and appreciate the effort that staff make, even for the little things. Staff are always, without fault, friendly and approachable and fantastic.

Review 80:The bed was way too soft and I bounced up and down every time my sleeping partner moved.

Review 81:The dinner in the bistro was excellent and the reception staff were friendly and courteous.

Review 82:We got a wake up call that we didn't arrange and also someone charged two breakfasts to our room (we didn't have to pay for). My sister slept in but in afternoon left sign to make room but when we came later in evening the room still hadn't been made. Other than that was a great stay:)

Review 83:Location Service Friendly staff

Review 84:Loved the staff. At check-in I got confused with something, and they just took it in their stride. Not only would I recommend this hotel, but I'll be back.

Review 85:Globe missing in desk lamp. Curtain falling off curtain rail - both of which were reported on departure.

Review 86:View and position. Good bathroom. Pleasant room

Review 87:I wished there been strawberries, bananas and slice orange for brekky. Mushrooms were missing in the hot dishes. It would have been nice if the Felix rooms had a coffee machine. Victoria coffee is ok but there are better coffees (merlo, lavazza)the

Review 88:The bed was very comfortable. It was great to have 2 choices of newspapers. Movies to watch were current. I loved the pool and gym. Cocktails were great.

Review 89:Good location for our visit. Doughter in St Andrews hospital. Appreciated free parking for the weekend. Only one night so did not experience all aspects to give a more complete review. Maybe next time

Review 90:No complaints

Review 91:Very good reception staff. Jasmine helped me by holding my bag in storage after i had checked out a few hours before I was due to leave Brisbane.

Review 92:Booked a superior room and it smelt very strongly of mould, made my eyes water. Staff were great and moved me immediately to another room. Where the pelmet to the bathroom door broke and fell on my head - ouch! I didn't like the duty manager not asking how I was. Also lots of problems connecting to wifi, had to ask staff daily for connection While a credit for some of the room service was given for my stay (5 nights) which staff were not aware of when I checked out. Altogether disheartened about my stay and wont be back.

Review 93:location was good, nice view of parklands. Room service and housekeeping staff were lovely.

Review 94:Parking for a visitor is difficult unless they are willing to pay for costly parking underneath. This was annoying as my daughter only wanted to call in for a short while.

Review 95:The room was so clean and modern and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. View was also amazing. It is in a convenient easy to get to location.

Review 96:The bed was a little hard for me

Review 97:The comfort and cleanliness of the room and the Assistant Manager was more than helpful at check-in. The renovation has been tastefully done.

Review 98:The bad experience was when I accidentally walked into the Ladies on the ground floor and saw that someone had vomited into the hand basin. There was a sign explaining that the toilet was out of order but there appeared to be nothing occurring as far as cleaning up the mess.I then moved into the gents which I meant to enter in the first place.

Review 99:The hotel was so close to Roma Street Station ,where I alighted and departed from and close to the city and a lovely park. I really got value and would definitely stay at the hotel when I return at a later date.

Review 100:Only problem with room was the glasses and tea/coffee facilities were up in a high cupboard I couldn't reach.

Review 101:Nice staff. The room was very nice with plenty of space. The bathroom was clean and lovely. There was minimum noise from other guests, elevator etc.

Review 102:Front desk issued me a "parking pass" to park in the basement car park which I assumed was free. I go to check out and get hit with a parking bill. Kinda soured my great stay!

Review 103:Room was fresh, modern and very clean. Close to city mall, will stay again.

Review 104:A little noisy with road traffic perhaps double glazing may have been a option. Other guest talking loud in passage way which cant really be helped.

Review 105:Close proximity to places. Gym & Pool.

Review 106:We did not have a view as their advertisement suggested. Our room looked out onto a neighbouring shed.

Review 107:Easy location to find and spacious room with modern fittings.

Review 108:What I need was a relaxing trip during medical treatment, what I got was a booking nightmare. After a general anaesthetic I had to deal with being told my booking was wrong and I had no booking that night, after long discussion, emailing all my booking confirmations and showing them my booking.com account, I never heard another word, so despite no apologies for causing me stress, I assumed the issue was sorted. Not so, the morning of my second surgery I receive a message telling me I was a no show for the hotel and had been charged a fee. Just the stress you don't need on an already stressful day. Another big discussion at reception to resolve the issue with great difficulty. End result still no apology or offer of compensation. Even something small like a complimentary meal may have smoothed the way. The cleaning of the room often didnt happen, and when it did, poorly. There were what appeared to be blood stains on the curtains. The key card system which was required even to use the elevators was hit and miss. I have needed to go to reception nearly every single day to get new keys. On two days where all local food outlets were shut, it was amazing the hotel cafe didnt open either and only room service at an additional fee was available. The wifi is expensive, and two people using it incredible problematic to be refused log in constantly. In fact as we speak, the wifi has dropped out and is now telling me to pay again, despite having paid for 7 days. All in all a frustrating and disappointing stay.

Review 109:One of the waitresses in the restaraunt was exceptional, as was the food. The location was convenient for my two surgeries. Nice view.

Review 110:Not being informed by the staff that breakfast times change each day therefore we missed breakfast on both mornings.

Review 111:Good location as we were in Brisbane for the rugby.

Review 112:$5 room service delivery charge, menu selections lacking gluten free/dietary options, annoying key card sensitivity

Review 113:Size of rooms , soft pillows & great mattresses , over all style of rooms , large choice of coffee making items , great selection of toiletries, & happy & friendly reception on phone

Review 114:Everything was great but when I got in to have a shower the shower head was coming off the wall, it still worked but just seemed un safe. Let the hotel know and all was good.

Review 115:Air con had a slight rattle through the night. Only one power point on one side of bed, could do with one on each side.

Review 116:Great service from staff, room was comfortable and parking was complimentary from friday to sunday.

Review 117:Very hilly area. .Movies were too pricey I thought ,so did not book any, otherwise I would have watched a few..

Review 118:Good room, very clean ,friendly staff.Meal very good .So close to St Andrews hospital which was reason for my staying at Hotel. Good choice of chanels on Tv.

Review 119:the restaurant facility was not good although the food was fine, eating dinner in a very small bar was not what we expected someone gave up his table for us which also was a bit of a nuisance.

Review 120:lovely room with excellent appointments and every thing worked !!

Review 121:There were major renovations going on with the pool and reception areas, we were excited to use the pool and spa but it was out of order.

Review 122:Loved the price $150 p/n for 2 queen beds was excellent for the quality of the room you get. The food was great in the restaurant and staff very helpful

Review 123:nothing

Review 124:staff were awsome. especially the reception.Thankyou for calling taxi service thankyou for loan of wheel chair for unwell daughter. made me feel comfortable. God bless you.

Review 125:This was the low point of our stay it was for the N scale convention and there was a party of 15 in the restaurant the night of the welcome. It took 45 to 50 minutes to serve our meals which I might add were good. It was when the party made a complaint about the time taken to serve our meals that we were treated to a poor excuse that some of the meals took 45 min to cook.We made a complaint to the waiter who I think was in charge of the restaurant only to be rudely advised that he was not speaking to me. This inturn made me angry as I have owned and run restaurants in my time and do not expect to be spoken to in this manner.. The waiter concerned was spoken to by me in no uncertain terms after the other people had left and did not have an explanation for his conduct which to me is not good enough. This male person I think was French. It was because of the conduct that no members of our group used the restaurant during our stay costing the Hotel between 15 to 30 meals per night. I think there would be other complaints re this person and we were not happy with the service. Maybe this complaint could be looked at and the person in question spoken to but if he was in my employment he would be shown the door with his attitude as it is not good for business. The night in question was Thursday 9 April 2015

Review 126:Hotel was clean and staff in reception were great along with staff in services

Review 127:The staff were terrible. One person in particular. After walking up the massive hill from the train station with my elderly mum and 1 year old daughter and several bags, I checked in. The staff member gave me my key and then told me where my room was. I asked if I could get some help with my bags as I had to carry my daughter or at least a trolley for my bags. The staff member pretty much told me to do it myself and they were too busy to help me. Several times we called for room service but they didn't answer. When they did finally answer, it was over an hour wait to get the food. I understand they are renovating but you would think this would make them more accommodating and bend over backwards to help you. Extremely rude and very unprofessional.

Review 128:It is very clean. The restaurant food was amazing but it was very slow.

Review 129:If we were to be nit picky the only thing that could have taken the stay one step further would be shampoo etc for each person

Review 130:We liked the personal greeting that was displayed on the room andand that there were fresh towls on hand in the pool area

Review 131:I ordered ice at midnight on a Tues. Staff said it would take approx. 20 min. I rang again after 20 min. and was told that someone had moved the ice machine and they were still looking for it. I waited till 1am. Then went to bed. None one had contacted me when they assured me they would.

Review 132:The beds were very comfortable. Staff very helpful.

Review 133:The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations so things change around however it is still worth staying there.

Review 134:No surcharge for car parking, rooms being modernised. Had 3 meals - one evening meal and two breakfasts and the quality of the food was great.

Review 135:Nothing to dislike

Review 136:We were upgraded to a King room on arrival and were given a newly refurbished room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Big renovation happening but no noise before 8.30am. Very civilised.

Review 137:It. Would. Been. Nice. If. Had. Been. Informed. Of. The. Extensive. Renovation. S. Outside. Building. It. Was. Hard. To. Hear. At. Booking. Inch

Review 138:Ease. Of. Booking. And. No. Busy. Hallways

Review 139:Very small bathroom. Not good if catching train back later. Parklands closed and have to walk the long way back.

Review 140:Friendly staff, clean generous size rooms. Handy location.
