Reviews for Koh Mook Charlie Beach Resort
Review 1:Prices. The bees and flies at the breakfast. Small bungalows.
Review 2:The great things about this place are the location and the swimming pool. Otherwise I recommend going to somewhere else. This place is totally overpriced!
Review 3:The restaurant was like a "school"... Noisy and soooo many bees and flies all over the breakfast buffet... The shower and toilet close to the pool was broken and the shower was not clean at all... At the beach there was like a natural pond of dirt water that stank!!!
Review 4:The staff was really friendly and helping. The evening grill buffet was ok, but not more than that.
Review 5:Not good value for money. I've stayed in far better places charging half the price. The staff are bored and not interested in serving you.
Review 6:Unbelievably good beach with soft, clean sand, and stunning views of cliffs and islands. Great swimming pool.
Review 7:Not clear water in the pool. Bored / unmotivated staff. Resort not ready fir tourists yet. Still working on buildings and surroundings (beach bar not open yet).
Review 8:Very nice beach and island. Nice snorkelling & dive sites.
Review 9:We went in the off-season so many facilities (Mini-Mart, massage parlor, diving tours) were closed. BUT we had the place practically to ourselves (almost no other guests), so it more than made up for it. Our shower didn't have hot water, but we kind of used to it. The mosquito net over our bed didn't have a zipper or any other closing mechanism, but we improvised with safety pins that we brought.
Review 10:We went in the off-season, and had the place practically to ourselves. The weather was only stormy a couple of times, and was otherwise perfect. We also had a gorgeous beach, beautiful scenery, helpful staff, comfortable bed, good restaurant, and flushing toilets. Our bungalow didn't have A/C, but the fan kept us plenty comfortable. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. We recommend.
Review 11:The hotel is owned by the same Thai who owns Charlies hotel on Pi Pi island and it shows. Unfortunately it's in need of some TLC. For example only one of the showers near the pool is working. There is nothing on the TV.. May is a time also when the local flies attack anything with food . Also pub shuts at 9pm so buy some beer in if you want a drink. We ate at the hill restaurant at night..approx 15 mins walk..Great food but the owner can talk for Thailand.
Review 12:Ko mook is a lovely place. Its a pane to get to but worth it in the end. Great swimming.Hotel reception are helpful and good. Breaky is ok..
Review 13:During daytime, especially in the morning, the bay is noisy due to allthe boat traffic. The basic huts are ok as long as you like to shareyour belongings with all kinds of animals... No space at all to put anyof your stuff.
Review 14:Very friendly staff even though their english is rather poor. Very goodbreakfast buffet. Beautiful sunsets.
Review 15:Seems to be a bit overpriced; ~300m inland You'll find either the same with much lower price; or much more spacious bungalow/villa with the same price.
Review 16:Location in 30m from the beach; excellent breakfast options, nice and clean; good massage, nice and clean pool.
Review 17:Noicy since it was babu bugalow we lived in.
Review 18:The closenes to the beach. Great breacfast buffe. Since it was a bambu bungalow we lived in it never got to warm.
Review 19:There really was no wifi or any other access to Internet at all. Wifi was so slow it practically didn't exist.
Review 20:Suitable for all kinds of travellers, especially for families with kids
Review 21:Background music in the restaurant and the beach bar all day. If it needs to be on in the day, then have something more soft - not thumping dance music! The waiting staff did not always seem to be very happy or overly friendly. It would be nice to have some decent coffee! From a proper coffee machine - not instant or filtered.
Review 22:Location is beautiful - unspoilt - not touristy. The food was good at the resort. Liked the seating on the beach for dinner Pool is very beautiful - best in the area
Review 23:Cleaning of our room - Service by the pool - Service in the restaurant - Toilets by the pool -
Review 24:The breakfast omelette was ok but how hard can that be.
Review 25:See above.
Review 26:We chose this resort for its convenient location and that's indeed what it is. The room is basic and overpriced for what you get for it. The staff is rude and don't seem to very much like working there. Overall, it's an okay resort but like I said it's way overpriced. If you book trips (boat, snorkel, kayak) I recommend you don't do it via the resort counter but with the small shop located on the left of the resort (when facing the sea) - Nice guy who works there and gives you a fair price, cheaper than what you would pay at the resort!
Review 27:No space for the rucksacks/ cases in the room (had a bamboo hut) they were always in the way!
Review 28:The location was amazing, the staff very helpful and friendly. Ate out most of the time .
Review 29:with small touches, the whole resort could look a lot more elegant (too much concrete)
Review 30:the beautiful bay and beach the variety of food at the restaurant the relaxed mood the well manicured green spaces
Review 31:The towels were like bed sheets and were a bit useless and the bed covers were from a synthetic material that kept warm when it was warm in the room and cold when it was cold. Also useless.
Review 32:The bungalow was near private beach, great seaside view, it was clean and very nice even if it was just a matress on the floor with a mosquito net. We had a fan and own bathroom. There was a small terace where you can sit and relax in the shade. The beach was amaizing.
Review 33:- Not hot water - Very expensive food. - You can rent a kaiak for 150bht/hour, but if you walk 100 meters to the left of the resort you can rent kaiaks cheaper. - Nothing else to see apart from the beach and the (expensive) trips. - Very poor WiFi, and only in the restaurant. Overall, too expensive for what it is.
Review 34:+ In front of the beach, which is astonishingly beautiful. + Nice breakfast + Tables are prepared on the beach for dinner.
Review 35:HUMIDITE DANS LES BUNGALOWS STAFF DESAGREABLE, JUSTE UNE USINE A TOURISTE OU TOUT DOIT SE PAYER. VOUS DEVEZ CONSOMER POUR RESTER DANS LA ZONE DU RESTAURANT. CHAISES DE PLAGE PAYANTES... WIFI TRES TRES MAUVAIS STAFF UNPLESANT TOURIST FACTORY WHERE ALL MUST PAY. WE WILL MAKE A BIG SMILE AT THE PRESENTATION OF YOUR CREDIT CARD !!! YOU MUST CONSOMER TO STAY IN THE AREA RESTAURANT. BEACH CHAIRS PAY ... WIFI VERY VERY BAD CHIEF TOURS YOU SCAM, DO 200 METERS AND THE PRICEIS CORRECT AND OUR TRIP LASTED 1,5 HOUR MORE.
Review 36:Situation Breakfast
Review 37:Flies!
Review 38:Very friendly village people
Review 39:Non
Review 40:Everything is great but the staff makes this place even more special. Thanks for the best week ever.
Review 41:personal was not very friendly except for the reception, but who can blame them serving fat white racist tourists.
Review 42:good bungalow with fan
Review 43:Staff
Review 44:Location
Review 45:location, good staff ,payment with credit card , in the evening dinner on the beach
Review 46:Breakfast and the whole restaurant was excellent. Pool
Review 47:Staff does not care about you at all and barely speaks english meals are disgusting
Review 48:Location, beach view, wonderful island
Review 49:Staff are unhelpful and don't value customer service. We stayed in a beach bungalow. It was absolutely tiny, just a mattress on the floor with little space around it. Bathroom was covered in stains/lizard poo and there were 3 insect nests in our room. Also the breakfast buffet is covered in flies every morning-disgusting
Review 50:Beautiful beach, there is great restaurant at the end of the beach (avoid the one in Charlie Beach)
Review 51:Drinks in the fridge were not for free... Bad surprise when we leave the hotel, be carefull. The bed.
Review 52:Near to the Emerald Cave, good restaurant but behind the resort on the left (not this one of the resort !). Beautiful swimming pool with chairs and bar in the water ! For kayak, go to ask to the guys on the left on the beach (on the left if you are in front of the sea), it is cheaper than the resort's rents.
Review 53:We stayed in basic bungalow which was very nice. Normally I prefer AC but this was ok with the fan. Bed with mosquito net on the floor was really comfortable. Bungalow situated 100m from resort so it didnt feel that you were actually in resort with pool areas and restaurants. Charlie Beach Resort location is on the right side of the island. It has the best beach and restaurants nearby. Ferry connections starts also from this side of Koh Mook and if you like snorkeling you can take a longtail to Koh Kradan nearby which has the best spot to see lots of different fish. I have been snorkeling all over Thailand but never seen so many different species. Breakfast at buffet was also better than standard. If you like to do some shopping you can take motorbike taxi (50bht) to local village. Koh Mook was much nicer than I thought and local people were really friendly. Lets hope it wont be spoiled like some other islands.
Review 54:The cleaning was not very good, we got only one towel per person, we were out of water twice and the wifi did not work.
Review 55:The location fantastic and the resaurant is very good.
Review 56:Food is quite expensive when compare with their quality. There were only few choice for breakfast. There is no wifi (although they said they have). Sink in bathroom is very dirty with mold.
Review 57:Good view from resort with beautiful beach. Friendly staff.
Review 58:My stay at Charlie Beach really tainted my experience of Koh Mook. Firstly, I wasn't greeted warmly being a solo female backpacker. When I asked about tours to local sights I was laughed at and dismissed. When the cleaners came to my room after the first night (and, by the way, it's grossly overpriced for what it is), I asked if they could come the next day, when I checked out, instead. They agreed. I went out for dinner that evening, though, and when I returned, found that my bed had been made. This might appear a helpful gesture, but as a solo traveller who had left her belongings all over the room I would have appreciated some more regard for my privacy after I requested it. When I checked out, the desk staff were their usual unhelpful selves. I was carrying a heavy backpack, yet the staff member insisted I move round to the other side of the counter. Then she asked me to wait and told me that I'd left the 'wrong brand of water' in the minibar in my room, and hence had to pay for it. This place really left a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend any other backpackers to go to Sawadee, a hotel / bungalows you can reach by phone - the staff were immensely helpful and accommodating. I just wish I hadn't chosen the convenience of the internet and thus Charlie Beach Resort!
Review 59:It's a great beach...shame this resort takes up most of it.
Review 60:It could be so perfect as it does have the feel of unspoilt Thailand however the cleanliness around the hotel restaurant and bar is poor at night the lighting is v bright from bare bulbs instead of thinking a bit and shading them which detracts from what is a beautiful and natural beach, seems petty but if you go you will see what I mean. The staff are friendly but clearly have little guidance on how to serve people also very few have any grasp of English which is rare to find in the restaurant or hotel industry these days. There are also wild dogs on the beach which isn't a problem until ten turn up and a fight starts this can happen at anytime day or night they seem to be ok around humans however wild dogs are wild animals and as a pack are extremely dangerous I certainly wouldn't want a child around them! All in all it's a weird place v quiet (nothing open past 10pm) only 3-4 restaurants to choose from I great the rest average to poor toilets in anything other than you room are extremely basic and pretty unhygienic......it's old school Thailand which is great if you keep the good bits (food, culture, nature) and polish up the bad bits (poor service, very basic toilets, lack of language skills)
Review 61:Great food in the restaurant behind the hotel (the one on the left as you walk away from the beach)
Review 62:internet only in the restaurant...
Review 63:we had a clean bungalow at the beachfront, perfect view from our veranda. we stayed there off-season and nearly had the resort for us alone. perfect lonely island with a beautiful beach.
Review 64:Staff is very bored. They are polite, but not more.
Review 65:Nice beach. Very good price
Review 66:Grumpy staff
Review 67:Everything else
Review 68:Perfekt lokation, beautiful place! Smal bungalow without AC, hard bed. Vi loved it!
Review 69:nice location and beach clean bungalows nice breakfast buffet
Review 70:Food taste should be improve and variety of seafood too less.
Review 71:Good room very clean and comfortable
