Reviews for Vitoria Stone Hotel
Review 1:nothing
Review 2:Very good service, the staff helped us with everything including getting around and reservations in restaurants. The staff in the spa was also wonderful!
Review 3:Everything was perfect.
Review 4:Incredible staff, excellent location, especially for people with children - a very good, modern playground just steps away, small nice things everywhere starting from welcoming tea at check in to almonds and description of local traditions at the restaurant menu. The food is excellent. Rooms are pretty standard but every room has a balcony with a nice view over the city. Free parking. Wifi worked well. The most precious asset is staff. They are really very friendly, a magnificent team. One of the best hotels I ever stayed at.
Review 5:Super, friendly and helpful staff. One of the best welcomes we have ever had at a hotel. Lovely bedroom, very clean, well appointed and comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast.
Review 6:Gym was very limited and had only cardio machines but that's just a personal preference.
Review 7:Breakfast was fresh, varied and plentiful. Location was great for exploring the old town and also seeing the new part. Staff were great, informative and friendly. Modern hotel with a stone theme which I liked as it reflected the history of the area of the megaliths.
Review 8:At times the wifi was annoying as you had to keep reconnecting. However, I think that is often the way in hotels.
Review 9:The hotel is very modern and the staff are delightful. They were wonderful in helping us organise a day visit to Lisbon and an amazing tour of the local megaliths. We also enjoyed the breakfast and the great cocktails in the bar.
Review 10:Visited Evora in Nov 2015 and stayed in this hotel. It is just a couple of 100 mteres outside the walls of the town. We found the hotel to be very modern and clean. The staff were efficient and friendly. Also the hotel is quite good value.
Review 11:If you are expecting a 4star hotel in a excellent location, inside a circle of green gardens, that's not the case. It's outside the city (10min walking), in the middle of the surrounding houses.
Review 12:Clean room, large shower, nice staff and excellent breakfast. Very quiet.
Review 13:You need to walk 10 min to go to central town.
Review 14:Excellent staff and a very pleasure hotel. Gorgeously decorated and at the same time simple. Excellent common areas at lobby bar and terrace. The restaurante is surprisingly good and honor Evora's gastronomy. Excellent option for the price!
Review 15:The morning coffee can definitely be improved...use better beans and let people make their own expresso, latte or americano etc.!
Review 16:Nice location - close to the city! Very friendly staff. Tremendous food at the restaurant.
Review 17:Having walked all day we arrived back to find our room had not been serviced. It mattered as We had wanted to relax before going out in the evening and knew they would need access at some point. The room was finally cleaned at 6.15pm . Which meant no time to relax in our room and very little time to get ready to go out. Although An apology was given the staff were very dismissive and disinterested!
Review 18:Decor is lovely
Review 19:Great modern hotel with unique interior design, fantastic staff, great food. The restaurant service staff were exceptional in delivering a special experience and took great pride in the "at table" plating of food.
Review 20:Décor very dark, and mirrors in corridors made it look like warehouse Window into bathroom! Lighting Sink much too narrow, and shower unnecessarily big
Review 21:Location Breakfast Staff
Review 22:Too modern, turning into not practical in the details: Small sink, No intermediate curtains, No place for opening the trolleys and many other small details
Review 23:The design
Review 24:Room lighting too low (bathroom lighting excellent) and narrow bathroom had very small sink and little space to put anything.
Review 25:well designed hotel with good bar/lounge and roof pool. Bedroom compact but comfortable. Parking close by and easy walking distance to centre.
Review 26:As a modern boutique hotel the room was quite dark and there was little room to unpack clothes. Bathroom had little storage for toiletries.
Review 27:Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Recommended a wonderful restaurant in the old city. The rooftop pool bar was a pleasant way to end the day.
Review 28:Flaky internet requires repeated logins. Chrome and glass modern not to our taste. Inadequate parking. Glass window between bathroom and bedroom -- what was the architect thinking??!!
Review 29:Excellent staff. Very good breakfast on upper floor with view.
Review 30:Room AC was loud and disruptive of my sleep. Woke up at 4 am with raw throat both nights, which was not attributable to other factors. Bathroom sink is minuscule.
Review 31:Staff service was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. Rooftop pool and bar were nice. Location was good.
Review 32:If you came a little later to breakfast , most of the food was eaten and it seemed that once it was gone it was gone. I do like this from a eco perspective, but perhaps a bit more fruit would have been nice :) Would of liked to be able to make some coffee in the room.
Review 33:Loved the pool area - but just wish the pool had been heated, very cold. Everything being sourced locally is great - loved the interiors and lighting. Bar was very relaxing with great music. Staff were just wonderful and even made me a lovely cake for breakfast on my birthday. Nice distance to the town - only took 10mins to walk up there. Absolutely loved Evora!
Review 34:No bad experiences.
Review 35:We enjoyed the unusual design of the hotel. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful on all our enquiries.Location just outside the city wall within a ten minute walk and nearby parking was superb .
Review 36:Hot food was only just warm & I had to ask for a top up as bacon container was empty. The beds are designed with square ends, I caught my leg trying to get around it to the safe/fridge area. I was told that this happens quite often when I reported it to reception staff, they assured me it would be reported to management & made a note of the incident.
Review 37:Staff were extremely polite, helpful & knew the area well. Pool was clean & it's area was lovely & relaxing. Good Breakfast. Location & parking good. Medical box offered immediately I reported my cut leg.
Review 38:Rooms aren't soundproof, not enough beds at the swimming pool (just 6!) and the staff who gets interrupted, while they are helping you, by Portuguese and help them out first.
Review 39:Very nice and comfortable stay, staff is extremely polite, helpful and speaks English very well! Very nice bathroom!
Review 40:Very nice hotel and personnel, excellent dinner with traditional food. Nice pool area and bar. We strongly recommend this hotel, Björn and Åsa from Sweden!
Review 41:We wanted to rent bikes but when we got the bikes there were very old and dirty and we couldn't use them. We had to turn back after 10 min and return them. That was a disappointment.
Review 42:Nice modern hotel just outside the city center. Very helpful and service minded staff.
Review 43:Honestly, nothing...
Review 44:Firstly staff (ever one) was brilliant. Very helpful and attentive. They go out of their way to welcome you and make you happy. The hotel theme, cork and stone totally keeping in with the area although very modern. The pool is lovely. The hotel prices are very reasonably priced for a hotel of this equality. Old town entrance 200m walk away. Free parking.
Review 45:Nothing to complain about.
Review 46:This was the most unusual hotel in all of our hotels in Portugal. Thetheme (stone) was perfect for the fact that outside of Evora, theancient megaliths have been uncovered. The architectural design andfurnishings were truly unique! The infinity pool on the roof, with amagnificent view of the city, was really a treat, and so relaxing! Thestaff was fluent in English and also extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 47:I would say that the view from the outside is rather distinct when compared with the inside. The jacuzzi is on the rooftop pool and it doesn't work that well, wich, combined with the noise it makes is not the best option to use.
Review 48:The hotel is fairly easy to get to. It is not in the center of Évora wich is a bonus for parking and since Évora is not a big city we did not need to get our car to get around. The rooftop pool with view to the city is absolutely amazing. Eventhough it isn't very big it suits the purpose of refreshing from time to time. The Avista bar complements nicely this equation as it gives the opportunity to relax evenfurther with a broad and good selection of drinks and some items to snack. The rooms are nicely put and everything we needed we found already in the bed/bathroom. We had also the opportunity to try the hotel's restaurant. Not cheap (aprox. 40eur/pax), but very good. With a good selection of wines and a comtemporary approach to the presentatioin of the plates paired with the good quality of the base products.
Review 49:When we were there it was >40 degrees therefore the rooftop pool was amazing. The staff is very friendly and the drinks in the rooftop bar are reasonably priced. We really liked the design of the hotel, but that is just taste and it was quiet reaonably priced. (? Be aware that there is a glass window between the bathroom and the bed, which was ok for us, but for business travellers rather awkward)
Review 50:stayed here For only one night and wished it had been longer! The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooftop and pool were divine and the room was very comfortable and sufficient for our stay. The breakfast was also very extensive and delicious.
Review 51:Nothing.
Review 52:One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Staff very nice. Very comfortable. Great breakfast. Amazing pool area on roof. Close to the old town.
Review 53:None
Review 54:The design of the hotel is unique with lots of stone and cork features. The free parking in front of the hotel is certainly a plus. The staff is very friendly and we had a warm welcome at reception. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. Wifi and airco is also a plus. There was much choice at breakfast: fresh fruit, cakes, all kind of bread, cheese, meat, cereals, jams, pancakes... On the roof there is a swimming pool, some sunbeds and a bar. The town is only a few minutes away We certainly will book this hotel again when in Evora.
Review 55:absolutely everything, from the 1st step into the hotel until the last one out of the hotel. -breakfast is absolutely amazing - Bar & restaurant prices are not too expensive - snacks you get in the bar are delicious- - their restaurant is truly amazing couldn't have wished for a nicer wedding anniversary
Review 56:I had a room at the first floor from the street side and with the window open it is noisy. I was very tired and used ear plugs so I slept the night. On the other hand if someone doesn't mind air conditioning (I do, because I feel like in a refrigerator) maybe with it on and the window shut it is acceptable. Anyway - look at the description of the room and try to book one on the other side of the hotel - I think this is better.
Review 57:The swimming pool is great! The staff is friendly and patient.
Review 58:The Sauna doesn't heat up properly and therefore is pointless. The Restaurant staff had a bad day, forgetting orders, taking forever to bring drinks... The food was very good though.
Review 59:The hotel has a particular interior design, including dark rooms with only indirect lighting. I found it very cool, but still didn't quite get used to it. The rooftop pool and terrace is very nice to have in hot and dry Evora. Just within comfortable walking distance to city center.
Review 60:From check in this was great, close enough to walk into the old town, helpful staff, great room with interesting stone twists throughout. Hotel restaurant was amazing with friendly knowledgable staff and the rooftop pool had amazing views.
Review 61:Food in the restaurant downstairs was just brilliant! Made from scratchwith apparent love and attention to detail! Everything was perfect butas a result, service was really slow and we got tired and bored ofwaiting at 10pm @ night (especially after a long journey!). Maybe offerlight bites that are quicker to prepare (but equally tasty in yourunique approach) at that time of night for travellers who want to fillup with delicious food and then get to bed! I would certainly like toeat there again :-) Thank you
Review 62:Everything
Review 63:First off, location isn't that near the walled town as it seems to be on google maps. I wouldn't pay again 95 euros a night given that distance. As for comfort, we got the twin room and it was really cramped. We barely found space for 1 medium-sized bag and 2 handbags. Bathroom was tiny and had a very narrow sink. It also had an useless and annoying window to the bedroom that allowed one of us to see the other taking his shower. I was traveling with my dad and that was not a problem, but even married people should be able to find some privacy. Staff was overall very nice and friendly, except for a receptionist named Fernando (nighttime), who was passive-aggressive and unwilling to help us book a tour to the local vineyards. I complained about him upon check-out and made clear that his behavior was negatively outstanding among his colleagues.
Review 64:staff at the restaurant (during breakfast) and at the reception (daytime). Free computer at lobby. Great breakfast
Review 65:The outstanding staff who go out of their way to make your stay very special. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff- always go the extra mile. Could not praise highly enough.
Review 66:Our stay was perfect! The staff was friendly & helpful. The decor is amazing - soft colors, images of Evora's famous stone megaliths, and accent pieces made from cork. We had a fantastic dinner in their restaurant, 5amendoas. Our waiters, Ivo and Daniel, were so friendly! They explained all the choices on the menu and helped us choose the perfect dinner. We enjoyed an amazing meal of delicious Portuguese specialties!
Review 67:No water dispenser in gym. Not easy to spot hotel when finding it first time. Needs sign on top of building? Lack of towel rails in bathroom. Sink too narrow for wet shaving.
Review 68:Friendly and informed staff. Breakfast, based on local produce, was excellent. Relaxed atmosphere. Free wifi and ability to print. 5th floor area for sun bathing. Provision of both spa and gym was an added bonus. Overall philosophy. Great shower,th
Review 69:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 70:The hotel has great facilities, including sauna, swimming pool, roof terrace, bar, and restaurant. Everything is very new and stylish. The restaurant had amazing food and service at reasonable prices. The breakfast is very good and comes with a view. The rooms are very comfortable. Exceptionally nice staff. I can thoroughly recommend it. Even though it's not right in the historical centre, it's only a very short walk, and the advantage is that there are parking spaces, which is not the case for many hotels within the city walls.
Review 71:Too bad that all the facilities were not available for use (sauna, pool,..)
Review 72:The staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast offered a great variety of product and of good quality.
Review 73:you can hear people in the hallway talking and understand every word very clearly
Review 74:Staff were very nice and helpful, also with explaining Evora and the sights. Awesome extra service: We got free tea and biscuits while checking-in and they offered fresh pancakes and waffles additionally to the already big and delicious breakfast buffet.
Review 75:Location of the hotel is great, but if you accidentally go too far from the hotel the area feels unsafe and industrial
Review 76:Great hotel with staff going out of their way to do everything to make you feel welcome
Review 77:Parking can be a challenge with only around 10 parking bays and the hotel is situated next to apartments so it is limited.
Review 78:Great modern hotel, friendly helpful staff, nice suites, the double rooms can be a little noisy under the bar, breakfast room. Sorry to hear the restaurant will be closing,We had two great meals here. I would stay here again without hesitation
Review 79:Needs better lighting in the bedroom, looks nice but not suitable for reading at night time....
Review 80:Very quiet hotel, nice balcony, great restaurant with friendly staff, and very helpful, top notch cleanliness..
Review 81:Noisey Air con unit at 2:00am. In the morning Seemed like water was running from the ceiling !
Review 82:Modern Hotel plenty of wardrobe space, We have stayed at many top class hotels around the World but the bathroom in this Hotrel beats all others Staff were first class
Review 83:loved everything about the place. Great room, great service, lovely food, views from top floor are stunning. Close to the city center for walking tours. Would absolutely stay here again!
Review 84:The prices in the Vista Bar are hiked way too high, although the measures are generous.
Review 85:The hotel has a coherent modern design with Alantejo themes that really works well: it is almost a work of art in itself. The Vista Bar has great views of the city and is a great place to enjoy your breakfast. The typing staff are very hefty and the wifi is good, fast and free.
Review 86:Nothing...other than could have stayed longer.
Review 87:We liked everything... the reception staff, bar staff, resraurant staff were all excellent. The room was so comfortable, with great bed and pillows... The hotel is very well designed. would definitely recommend it...we live in the Algarve and this is the 11th hotel this year we have visited, by far the very best.
Review 88:We're rarely bother to rate hotels, but Vitoria Stone is a rare gem if one likes ultra-modern design, excellent food, and gracious, helpful staff.
Review 89:The transparent glass between bathroom and room prevnets privacy.
Review 90:SweemingPool on the roof was exciting. The hotel is modern, nice, with good breakfast, very nice room. Helpful and polite team.
Review 91:Nothing
Review 92:Roof top pool and surrounding area. The staff Were ultra efficient and really friendly and welcoming. The restaurant in the hotel for evening dinner was top class and is probably better value and quality than the many others around the town.
Review 93:I stayed on the fisrt flor and some noise was coming from outside.
Review 94:Decoration, Confort of the bedrooms and great breakfast. Staff is very helpfull and friendly.
Review 95:The outlook, and some street noise at night. The size of the standard room is quite small with very limited storage. The pool is rather small.
Review 96:Location is good, it is easy to walk to the town centre. Some good restaurants are also very close by. Nice bathrooms with good hairdrier, magnifying mirror. Comfortable beds.
Review 97:The service in the bar/restaurant was poor. You had to look for someone to serve you. As there were only 5 people there at the time this was poor. There was no tea available at breakfast nor was there any hot water. You do a lot of circle work to get breakfast. Air conditioning extremely loud and the noise of water from the adjoining room unacceptable.
Review 98:Location was good and the front of house staff were helpful.
Review 99:swimming pool is a very miniature little thing, one move and you have reached the opposite side. city centre is not immediately next to the hotel but reachable by a 15 minutes walk.
Review 100:wonderful design of the hotel interiors. comfortable, albeit somewhat small rooms. fantastic quality dinner, and great breakfast, nice roof terrace with swimming pool, overlooking the very old and beautiful buildings of the city nearby
Review 101:the beds were awful, the rooms were noisy, and the size of the bathroom was ridiculous.
Review 102:the global look of the hotel, the location near the old city center.
Review 103:There is a small window from the toilet to the room, maybe for young couples might be a lack of privacy.
Review 104:I loved the decoration, comfort and the staff. The breakfast was really good, and the swimming pool and sauna perfect. I will visit this hotel pretty soon.
Review 105:The decor in the corridors was a little to much for us. But that is just a matter of taste.
Review 106:Breakfast was excellent and as a result we stayed for dinner both nights and enjoyed it. The outdoor leisure area was lovely after a day walking in Evora.
Review 107:we didnt like the fact that they gave us a very small room, the 306 or 316 i dont remember, but do not accept it if you stay few nights, it is really small comparing to the others
Review 108:great staff nice rooftop with swimming pool (small but ok) good breakfast comfortable new
Review 109:Lovely hotel, very helpful staff. Wish we'd staid for dinner as food in town was awful and breakfast was fantastic. Rooms compact but very comfy. Nice addition to have a little pool and roof top terrace.
Review 110:The Vitoria stone is an excellent newly renovated hotel close to evoras walk in easy walking distance to old city and temple of Diana. Friendly helpful staff and a great roof top infinity pool
Review 111:Everything about this place was excellent. The staff here make the stay so much better. They were so friendly and made sure our stay was enjoyable. The buffet breakfast was good with so many option, including cereal, cheeses and meat and lots of cakes. They have three bars, one in the foyer with an outside terrace, one on the fourth floor and another by the pool. Great selection of drinks and cheap by hotel standards. The rooms are not huge but very clean and have everything you need including a balcony with 2 chairs and a table to enjoy a drink or reading a book. WIFI was also accessible everywhere in the hotel for free and it worked well. The pool area is really nice. Its not a large pool but it was big enough for several people to be swimming around. The terraces around the pool are very good with many lounges and chairs to sit around and enjoy the views from the roof. The location is just outside the city walls but its only a 5 minute walk to the centre of town and a lot of good restaurants close by. Some of the guests we talked to also highly recommended the restaurant in the hotel but we already had plans to eat elsewhere. Would definitely recommend this place to stay.
Review 112:During my stay as a solo business traveler I decided to have some food. I was served by a wonderful waiter who took time to discuss the food and wine of the local region and I basically let him pick my meal and wine, both were excellent and during the meal he constantly came to chat. Help passing a normally boring evening of solitude.
Review 113:The bathroom has a huge window, so anyone can see what is happening inside
Review 114:Modern, clean, uniqe...the pool is small, but it's perfect to spend there a couple of hours.
Review 115:N.A.
Review 116:Hotel is near the train station and the center of the city. On the 5th floor we found a beautiful panoramic pool where we spent all day. In the breakfast we tasted some traditional flavours of Evora. The staff was always very kind.
Review 117:The pool is very, very, very small. I mean VERY small!
Review 118:Location close to historic centre, Comfortable & clean rooms. Very good breakfast, friendly staff.
Review 119:Everything! The staff was amazing!
Review 120:Just gorgeous place to be, very good restaurant and breakfast selection.
Review 121:Location was outside of city center
Review 122:Decor and comfort of room
Review 123:No
Review 124:Staff is very nice and helpful. Many choices of breakfast. Room is nice. Highly recommended friends to come.
Review 125:great stay
Review 126:It rained all day on one of our days!!!!!!
Review 127:Evora is a stunning small city and we'll worth a visit.
Review 128:Very helpful when we wanted to watch rugby World Cup match at TV in the bar. Allowed us to even though soccer was on!
Review 129:Quartos, piscina, bar e pequeno-almoço
