Reviews for Koh Mook Sivalai Beach Resort

Review 1:Food and beverage was awful, we plan to go there for relax and enjoy all the time in the resort. However our first dinner, the Thai food was very bad, tastelesss, no sense of thai at all. Then we thought, they might good in western food. We had breakfast, the buffet also awful, even simple food like fried egg, omelette or scramble. We have to go out to a small village every meal. Such a pity for this resort. Cleanliness in the room was good. However the maid never look at your terrace. We had a coffee since the second day, the coffee cup stay there for another 2 days the we have to take it inside our room and clean. We leaf some trash on a terrace but when they came to sod turn down service, the trash is still there until we call them to clear.

Review 2:Location and atmosphere

Review 3:- ok breakfast - pool was very disappointing in comparison to general standard of the hotel - staff seemed to be a bit confused because we walked in as backpackers. Treated us a bit like we couldn't afford it etc...

Review 4:* wonderful location * very close to the little village on the island with great local contacts and restaurants (not like Charlie beach which is on the other side of the islans) *dvds at the reception (there is a player in each room) *amazing bungalows *night guards patrol around the area throughout the night (it's a really save area anyway but this makes it even better)

Review 5:Sea bugs!!! We were at the resort only few days We got red spot all over our body. (Over hundred spots / visit hospital) Feel so itchy Everything else was fastastic except the bug that ruin our holiday. (May be only searching time of the year / we were there Oct)

Review 6:Beautiful location right at beach front Soft white sands Staffs they are very nice Smiling helpful Yummy Thai food Feel private

Review 7:I think maybe breakfast options can be improved and to take into account dietary requirements. Ie maybe do cereals, oatmeal having options for both dairy free and gluten free options...

Review 8:Gorgeous location to get away and just relax. Lovely staff! The beach was gorgeous and its a shame some people had written reviews complaining about sandbags - of course they have to do this to protect the one end and it really doesn't make any difference to this beautiful beach! They look like they are working hard to improve some of the bungalows before the high season that must have been damaged in the storm (don't worry it wasn't loud noise at all)!

Review 9:The beach was destroy by wave and workers were trying to protect the bangalows while we stayed. The beach is not like in the picture because there are sand bags and wood rods to protect the resort.

Review 10:There are few activities and no market at the island. The cost of transportation is too expensive.

Review 11:The beach was really beautiful, private and relax. Staffs were very friendly.

Review 12:International cuisine far from original versions. Better to order Thai or buffet.

Review 13:Bungalows are very spacious, comfortable for longer stay, clean and good designed. Value for acommodation is okay, but other facilities a little bit overprised. Great idea with themed buffet every night, especially with fresh seafood. Very good, professional SPA. Lovely staff, very caring about this small paradise.

Review 14:Children. The resort is really suited to couples who love peace and natural surroundings

Review 15:Beautiful views from the very comfortable villas. Friendly and helpful staff. Great spa! A really wonderful place to stay for couples

Review 16:My partner and I tried a couple of massages at the spa and the foot massage was the worst one we've ever had. The food at the restaurant is very expensive. The wifi literally sucks and keeps disconnecting all the time! We rented two bikes one morning and they were in such a poor condition that we returned them only after 30 mins. It's ridiculous having to pay for bikes that don't even work. The kayaks are also for rent and not cheap either.

Review 17:Amazing location and excellent food

Review 18:The food at the hotel doesn't meet the quality level we have had in Khao Lak, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Patthaya, or Hua Hin. But the breakfast is generous and fruits are plentiful.

Review 19:We booked family rooms on the beach and in the 2nd row. Rooms are large enough to accomodate a real single bed for a child and they also have a mosquito net. No matter where you are the beach is only footsteps away. One can really relax here. We booked a long-tail boat from the hotel for a snorkeling and Emerald cave. Our driver was great and dove in to show us fish.

Review 20:Whilst the beach is wide and clean, the seawater quality is below my expectation with hardly any live corals for snorkelling, in comparison to Koh Kradan nearby.

Review 21:The resort itself is pleasant with good orientation and the rooms are well-designed with spacious interiors and a nice sundeck with good views

Review 22:I chose this place for its calmness and the beach. Bad luck that we arrived after heavy storms so they decided to restore the beach. Excavators were moving along the beach all day digging up sand from one spot and put it on others, although the reception said that it would only take 2 hours in the afternoon. This totally ruined our beach holidays. We were notified that some facilities might be under construction but they didn't mention the beach!!! Not even a single appologetic gesture from the manager. Besides, the room smelled like mold especially the bed sheets. We asked for a change of sheets however the smell remained. Not so much for a fancy resort.

Review 23:The location is superb. The staffs are super nice.

Review 24:Position of the resort Accomodation

Review 25:No wifi at the room

Review 26:Locatie

Review 27:-

Review 28:Hous only 10 meters to the sea, life seafood before Your house, small island with Great location.

Review 29:too close to the street, a bit noisy

Review 30:location , staff friendliness

Review 31:Beach on to sides

Review 32:Good Location Good Services

Review 33:Grumpy boss hanging around appearing to lecture the staff at length.

Review 34:Location

Review 35:Interior of villas very outdated and dining area needs a remake

Review 36:Beautifully located on pristine beach. Very comfy beach front villas

Review 37:Unconfortable pillows for the neck due to the highness

Review 38:Nothing, we loved it!

Review 39:Fantastic beach resort, gorgeous location, excellent accommodation, food, staff, can't fault it.

Review 40:Breakfast menu lacking some mornings for thai options. No snorkelling inIsland itself

Review 41:The view from bed.

Review 42:We expected more for price we paid

Review 43:Mosquitos invasion

Review 44:Everything except...

Review 45:Sandflies...check out Chalee beach to avoid getting bitten.

Review 46:Food was excellent! View was beautiful.

Review 47:Staff didn't Pay a lot of etention to us; you have to Pay for everything extra - bike 200 bahr per hour ...

Review 48:Most beatiful resort! We had our best moments in this paradise! Staff so friendly and beach really clean!

Review 49:Some ants in the shower

Review 50:Nice view at beach front but we went there at low season so we couldn't do much activities

Review 51:Breakfast

Review 52:Smooth sand like a powder

Review 53:We didn't like having to leave (we actually extended our stay!)

Review 54:Fantastic remote location. Great facilities and very accommodating staff. The nearby village is close enough to walk (or hire the bikes), massage staff provide a very relaxing experience. The sea front villas are very well equipped with unrivalled views.

Review 55:The excursions and transfers are overprised, but a good thing that Mr. Yong near the pier had them at a much more reasonable price (and a super nice guy!)

Review 56:Great service, beautiful spacious rooms and excellent food.

Review 57:Far to many scandinavians. Didnt feel like Thailand. 10 per cent service charge and 7 per cent vat added to everything making the restaurant out ofbounds. However there is sanctuary in the village next door were spicey food is avaliable cooked and priced like it should be.

Review 58:Location. Apt on the beach 10 m from the sea. Apt beautiful.

Review 59:The transfer from Ao Nang was a bit of a long winded affair with a 2 hour 45 minute bus ride and then a 30 minute ferry and a 30 minute long tail boat, but a necessary evil in order to access such a beautiful, uncommercialised resort. An alternative is to fly to Trang.

Review 60:Idyllic secluded location with picturesque beach chalets and beautiful beaches. Very impressive food and well priced for this kind of resort. Will definitely return.

Review 61:Not much... maybe just the pool that would need to be refreshed and extended

Review 62:Amazing bungalows (big, clean and with a lot of charm), The location and the nature surrounding ( white sand beach with a lot of coconut, banana trees as well as flowers), staff is available and helpful, lots of activities proposed

Review 63:Not only was the food dramatically overpriced, but the quality was not to be proud of. Another surprise was that there were additional charges for VAT and a service charge. Why not just all inclusive prices? The nearby village had good and much cheaper restaurants. What about renting a kayak for฿300 an hour? In a resort like this that should be free. The man who walked around constantly, seemed to be the manager. A good manager should be an example to his personnel. This one was only seemed to underline his status by doing nothing at all.

Review 64:The location is ideal and personnel is extremely friendly.

Review 65:Moskitos...The noise from long tail boats is a little bit annoying.

Review 66:Excellent location with amazing views. Beautiful beach and the sea. Quite good breakfast.

Review 67:Some kids activities would be wonderful! X

Review 68:It was a stunningly beautiful location - the perfect mix of naturalbeauty - barefoot bliss in white sand, shells and lovely restaurants andvillage you can walk too.... It is still real thailand - and relaxed andfantastic value spa services! Arriving to a cold coconut was justperfect after our 24 hour journey and the boatride from the pier amagical arrival... The accommodation was perfect - comfortable andwonderful wooden deck for yoga and relaxation....

Review 69:There was no comfortable lounge area to sit and read considering it rained for four days

Review 70:Stepping off the long tail onto the white sands, the quality and classiness of the accommodation, the professional and friendly staff

Review 71:At first, I want to state that this is my first hotel review i have ever written.I am a lot into travelling privatly and for business and I deal frequently with high standard hotels at various destinations all over the world. After checking mostly positive reviews, my wife and I decided to book 4 nights at Sivalai resort after staying at beautiful koh kradan and koh lanta, which was just stunning.Starting with the only positive thing about sivalai resort in our point of view. The beautiful location of the resort on the edge of the island surrounded by palm trees is doubtlessly a very nice scenery. However, the negative aspects of our stay are more worthy to mention.1: At our arrival we had to pay the whole period of stay in advance, which i considered quite unusual.2: During our whole stay the employees of the hotel behaved not in a friendly way we used to know from previous resorts of our stay in Thailand.3: At our first night we had dinner at the Hotel Restaurant. I had a green curry and Fried bananas and my wife had yellow curry. To make it short i felt very uncomfartable a couple of hours after Dinner and the entire next day i could not leave the room. ( I am very used to thai kitchen, been in Thailand the third time and never felt so sick before). Top Hill restaurant in ko muk, where we had Dinner twice was a much better choice.4. During our stay right in front of the beach of sivalais noisy maintance work was done with heavy machines, moreover the surrounding close to the resort was not idyllic. The noisy pier area was kinda dirty and messy. koh lanta, koh ngai and koh kradan, which we visited before were much quieter and free from any garbage.5. On top of all because of a bad weather forecast we had to cancel our last night, to make sure we can leave the island in order to get our connecting flights to bangkok.

Review 72:Some major issues are not fitting into the final picture. We had a front beach Bungalow. The bed was not very confortable and to hard. The bath room is open to the outside and all little animals can easly reach the inside. During low tied at the late afternoon you can only go swiming at one single place. The water quality I would assume is medium, because not really much fishes are visible around the resort. May be this has also to do something with the noise around this location! We felt sometimes like beside the airport at Frankfurt. Starting with the sun rice and ending in the dark there are coming and leaving motor tail boats. These boats are really very noisey and will not fit into a quiet nice relaxing holiday island stay. For to see the underwater world you have to go somewhere else, which is really a pitty. Other places will be offered by the hotel, but the prices are high, if you compare this with other hotels. Anyhow, also the food is quiet expensive at the restaurant in relation to other locations in Thailand, but you have not very much choises! If you leave the hotel aerea to the direction of the peer, you will find the really poor Thailand. It is not very nice to see, how people are living in a surounding of garbish. It looks like a third world development country. General the price level is to high for this resort and not worse to spend, but this is a general problem, if you compare the hotel prices with european standards. The organization! When we left to Krabi airport other couple left also to hotel same time, same way. We have realized this both at the airport and paid two times the taxi.

Review 73:Location is very nice at the end of the island. Very good that all bungalows are equipted with a mosquito net. Room service is good and all people are very friendly.

Review 74:Few things remain; the smoke from the nearby village should make you ask for bungalows not affected by the smoke.

Review 75:We liked everything about this beautiful place, the resort itself as well as the services and the surroundings. As close to paradise you can get. Very friendly staff, lovely rooms, tranquility and good food. Even the transport to get here is an experience.

Review 76:Expensive, not so good service. We wanted to cancel some days and theysaid it did not work. Then we read at their homesite and talked withbookin.com, and it was possible.....( Had to pay one day extra + 10% ofthe full amount. There is jus one restaurant and not "cosy". The food is ok but good to have another choice/ restaurant. We prefer other places with more choices and will not go back.

Review 77:NIce Bungalows close to water

Review 78:Lovely location on the beach. Friendly staff. Pure paradise.

Review 79:Food was just ok.

Review 80:Lots of Beach Front Units.

Review 81:Restaurant was too expensive.

Review 82:Excellent location. The best hotel on island.

Review 83:perfectly nice staff, very friendly, super clean, stunning place

Review 84:Further down the beach is was dirty.

Review 85:Stunning bungalow right on the beach. Very comfortable

Review 86:The variety of food available was limited, and the quality of the food wasn't great.

Review 87:The location and the staff! The staff went above and beyond.

Review 88:The doors to the bungalows are leaky.

Review 89:Exceptional location.
