Reviews for Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan

Review 1:Private Bath was a bit small though and without drinking water inside.

Review 2:My wife and I stayed in the hotel for two nights, 10th and 11th Nov 15, in Room 522. The room was big and clean, with a large double bed. You may also try the Japanese tatami area if you like. The hotel staff will assist with the bedding. The young girl serving us was excellent, regret hadn't asked her name. The garden of the hotel was a nice place for a stroll before dinner. The Unzen Jigoku is just beside the hotel entrance. A nice hotel to stay for relaxation and sightseeing.

Review 3:You definitely have to speak at least a bit of japanese to really enjoy the experience.

Review 4:This place is a heaven, the room is very comfortable, the food is delicious, the area is awesome and the staff couldn't be nicer, they all are wonderful people!!

Review 5:a bit old, traditional breakfast without coffee or juice, value for money is not as attractive as other stays.

Review 6:Great surrounding, shuttle pick-up from Nagasaki (good sceneries and driver), hot spring water is of the less common type (milky white)

Review 7:The room was beautiful, clean, very spacious with a beautiful view. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were all courteous and helpful. The family/ private hot springs pool/bath that can be reserved was spacious and included more good-quality toiletries than one could imagine. The garden was beautiful and could be appreciated from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby and well-stocked store. I'm glad to have to found the ryokan by chance at booking.com. Thank you.

Review 8:.. I mean, we have stayed in a lot of ryokans from cheap and cheerful to wildly expensive, and considering we were paying over $200 a head for this one (reduced price as last-minute, but probably more than usual as Obon), when there were plenty of options in Unzen at the time charging around $100 each, we were expecting expensive ryokan-quality food. A lot of the dishes seemed to be reheated frozen food (my partner likened them to school dinners), and one fish on the sashimi platter actually tasted mouldy. Not rotten, but mouldy, as if it had been in a mouldy box. We couldn't say anything at the time as our serving lady was so wonderful, but it was very hard to finish the meal. We opted for a western breakfast, which helped redeem our opinion of the place a little. We got the feeling that we were paying for location only, not for a complete ryokan experience.

Review 9:If you are going to Unzen to experience the hells, then it's great as you can literally walk right out of the garden and straight onto the boardwalk that takes you through. It's a lovely hotel, as far as the huge concrete ryokans go, with a good onsen, immaculately clean, etc etc. All the staff were polite and attentive, particularly the young lady who was appointed as our special assistant. Completely faultless. However...
