Reviews for Westerås Gard
Review 1:The location and views were phenomenal. If you love hiking, it's definitely the place for you. The cabins aren't fancy, but they're comfortable, and you can't beat the setting, as long as you're OK with farm animals.
Review 2:The one lane drive in was difficult when you met someone going the other way!
Review 3:The view and the hiking trails were fantastic. Very cute and comfortable.
Review 4:This place was fantastic! The view of the fjord was amazing and the food in the restaurant was excellent. The locals I spoke to in town even said it was their favorite restaurant. I also can't say enough about the kindness of the people at Westerås Gard. The airlines lost my bag on my flight in and was trying to deliver it to the hotel, but was having difficulty. The staff used their time and personal cell phones to help me track down where the bag was and schedule the drop off. She even spoke to the driver for me since I do not speak Norweigan. Again, they were so kind and absolutely went above and beyond.
Review 5:I found the price a little high considering linens and cleaning at the end of our stay was extra unless you did it yourself when you left. This was the only place in Norway that we stayed at (8 places total) that added on extra for cleaning after our stay, you would just expect that to be included. The beds also seemed a little short. My partner is 6'2 and his feet were crammed up against the wall when stretched out fully on the bed.
Review 6:Cute cabins with a nice view, the inside is older but clean with a kitchen equipped with everything you'd need. Overall we enjoyed our stay
Review 7:Long walk uphill from village. Wet room was a nuisance if you forgot and stepped in to use the basin!
Review 8:Views are stunning, high above the village and overlooking the mountains. Check the stars out at night! Good for a quick overnight stop, would have wanted more comfort for a longer stay.
Review 9:For the room and service (self serviced) you get, the price isn't cheap (even for Norway standard)
Review 10:Excellent location, nice view to the valley, a 30min walk to Geirangerfjord
Review 11:Cosy farm on side of mountain, beautiful view. A bit further up away from the touristy area which we preferred. Could have just stayed there rather than visit anywhere else, it was heaven! Also made friends with the farm cat and goats!
Review 12:We'd booked a taxi via the owners but when it did not arrive there was no one around to help us
Review 13:Friendly , family run place, obviously environmentally concerned. Great cabins, views, walk directions available. Nice goats!!
Review 14:Pillows terrible! BRING OWN PILLOWS!
Review 15:Loved that the cottages were amongst farm animals and close to some great hikes. The facilities were great and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 16:Great location, especially as a start for hiking trips. Very close to a nice waterfall. Views are amazing. The double room was very clean and nice. Owners of the place were friendly and helpful. Very easy check-in/check-out.
Review 17:The location is simply stunning. Modern looking cabin with sufficient space and a view that cannot be beat. The road in is a thrill, but it comes with the territory! Owner is extremely friendly, and has owned this farm for generations. If you came all the way to Gereinger, don't stay at generic hotels, stay at a place with character!
Review 18:Power outlets didn't work. Provided a kettle but that didn't work either. Restaurant was closed when we were there. No bin in the room.
Review 19:Great view.excellent spot to stay if you are hiking in the area.
Review 20:it was a steep climb uphill. so the very first we were scared to drive as it was dark. But once you see the way during the day it doesnt seem too dangerous !!
Review 21:not only that it is well located on the mountain to give you breathtaking views of the fjord, dalsnibba, flydalsjuvet but also accessible by car. Almost all the hiking including storasäterfossen starts close to this farm so you are basically covering half the hike from geiranger by a car or a vechicle. we were there during the low season but in high season this can be a paradise to escape all the tourists from the cruise ships. definitely worth the money and the restaurant has a good collection of menu to chose from. what is the point of visiting Norway and staying in luxury hotel ? stay in the cabins to enjoy nature!!
Review 22:No hair dryer No wifi access, even with payment
Review 23:Excellent location with great view on moutains Very close to Geiranger center (by car) Good starting point to many hike paths Good comfort in cabins, clean Good welcoming and good restaurant
Review 24:A gem of a place!!! Loved everything about it! The owner was super-friendly and answered ALL my questions. Restaurant was nothing short of awesome. Prices for meals were on par with Norway prices (not cheap) but it offered many options at different price points. LOVED THE FISH SOUP! The restaurant's deck offered gorgeous views of fjord and surrounding mountains. The farm animals (sheep, goats, lamas) kept our kids entertained! The owner even had our son feed a young sheep from a bottle. Cabin was very clean and spacious.
Review 25:Scary driving in an unfamiliar car on a narrow road.
Review 26:This was an amazing experience to treasure. We had a couple of days here and apart from the precarious driving up the narrow and steep road to the farm which I did get used to, it was a really fantastic location and sweet place to stay.
Review 27:water flows outside the shower, hitting only in the living room, very narrow car path to cabin, possible to find only with GPS.
Review 28:Beautiful,very clean, great view outside, spacious, quiet
Review 29:Said fully equipped kitchen however only hotplates - no oven or microwave.
Review 30:Location on hillside was awesome although a surprise Comfortable rooms and great facilities
Review 31:The place is a very small rom above the kitchen and restaurant, very noicy. It is impossible to sleep on a bed while the chilling is 30 cm above your head. I don't nudist and how do you offer this place. It might be the the cabin are nice. The place dont offer beding and towel although it wasn't announced in the booking. I must say that I travel a lot, sometimes with booking.com. This place was simply not for people.
Review 32:The prices at the Westerås Gard restaurant were quite high, around 250 NOK for a dinner meal. While not unusual for Norway, we decided to cook instead.
Review 33:Westerås Gard was a great find! We enjoyed being away from - above, to be exact - the tourist area with such gorgeous views of the mountains and the fjord. - Great location with several hiking trails starting from the farm, including a trail into town. - Well-equipped cabin, including coffee maker, dish soap, outdoor grill, and a heater in the bathroom. - Exciting drive on a narrow dirt road along a steep hillside: Don't let it hold you back! Our rental Suzuki Swift handled it fine.
Review 34:Unfortunately we were not made aware that the restaurant on sire was closed for breakfast and dinner
Review 35:The location, the rate
