Reviews for Hotel Elena
Review 1:Waken up by the baby next door. I guess the wall is just thin. Shower is tiny.
Review 2:Not far from the station, lovely balcony oversee the piazza. Building is old but historical, nothing fancy but everything is just there as needed (didn't have problem finding the light switch and so on). Love the morning cappuccino in the cute expo cup. Local cheese with red meat is really tasty. Host is very nice and helpful.
Review 3:No problems
Review 4:Friendly. Helpfull.location.everything very satisfactory.the owner laura sooooo helpfull and friendly and family very nice.it's a yes for this hotel
Review 5:Staff, owner, location, prices, cleanliness. Elena has an elevator which is almost a must for me because I have very weak knees and legs. A great experience. As exceptional as our last stay.
Review 6:Bed was really uncomfortable and pillows were very flat
Review 7:We were upgraded at check in to a quad room with a fabulous balcony over the Square. Loved the view and the church bells!
Review 8:Our room was a little "worn" somehow. Nice balcony overlooking the piazza, but chair cushions and tablecloth were faded.
Review 9:Superb location overlooking the piazza....good people watching. Breakfast area is quite nice, with a wide variety of food, and plentiful. Our room had a balcony. Pretty wood floors in our spacious bedroom. Since we had an early train, they sent us off with a bag of food and drink. Excellent value.
Review 10:Could hear other guests talking and moving in their rooms. Not a lot of privacy. No view, other than rooftops despite being on 4th floor.
Review 11:Convenient to the tourist area of Stresa.
Review 12:Best hotel breakfast during our Italy trip. Espresso, caffe machiato and cappuccinos made to order not from some coffee machine. Excellent cheeses and meats, and croissants as good as those in France.
Review 13:Staff thoughtful and friendly, breakfast was excellent. Location was great. Initially worried that it might be too noisy being on a busy piazza- but it wasn't at all. Highly recommended
Review 14:Very gracious hosts! We had to leave early and they not only packed us a breakfast, they included sandwiches for a lunch. Really exceeded our expectations.
Review 15:There was no air conditioning, and I happened to stay on an upper floor there for a few very hot days. It was almost impossible to sleep due to the heat, and the beds were very old. In cooler weather, it would be no problem, though.
Review 16:Wonderful location and very nice staff.
Review 17:We were here when it was very hot. There is no air-con and the ceiling fan wasn't really powerful enough. Most other weeks, however, it would be fine.
Review 18:The family who owned the hotel and the other staff were extremely friendly and did everything they could to make us feel welcome and to help us.
Review 19:Central location and the lady at the reception was extremely nice and good english speaker. She helped me in everything i asked for, thanks again for that.
Review 20:At first, the lack of air con, however, after mastering the shutters and fan, and acclimatising to the heat of Italy in August, was able to manage a comfortable temperature. Definitely not a dealbreaker, hotel Elena is great.
Review 21:Friendly, well located and comfortable. We stayed for 6 nights and would definitely stay again. Location is perfect, being directly in the centre of town! Breakfast tasty, with good coffee.
Review 22:Nothing bad to say.
Review 23:This is the second summer that I have stayed at Hotel Elena. Laura is an excellent hostess and always there to help you in whatever you may need. I spent 6 nights there this time. My ride to the airport left at 6:28 a.m. and she was up early to let me out and gave me a small sack breakfast to take with me. Marco makes a mean cup of hot chocolate. I will definitely reserve a room there next summer too. The hotel is right in the center of the main Piazza - and a short walk to Lago Maggiore, the train station. The market is only a block away and since there is a small fridge in the room it is convenient to have snacks and cold beverages. It is a definite must and if you are there the end of July - beginning of August, you are there for the Jazz Festival and there is always something happening in the evenings.
Review 24:No airconditioning in the rooms. The fan is not enough when hot and humid Sometimes noisy at night
Review 25:Very good location. small family hotel.Nice breakfast
Review 26:As a solo traveller, it was superb. Location was excellent (right on the main square). Staff were helpful and friendly. Facilities were a little outdated but for the price, it's still great value for money!
Review 27:Nothing. It may not look like much from the outside, and has only one star, but it's a great place to stay.
Review 28:Friendly and helpful staff; quiet room on upper floor, as requested; small balcony; nice shower in small but well-equipped bathroom; lovely breakfast! Also excellent location in central square, close to lots of restaurants and bars, a few mins walk from the ferry boats, and only 10 mins walk from railway station. Would definitely recommend it to others and would stay there again any time.
Review 29:The room is very comfortable, location is excellent, right in the main stresa square. Staff is friendly and helpful, it felt like being home. I have extended my stay there and I would come back again. Despite its one star, I have stayed in 2 stars hotels having same facilities. For a longer stay, breakfast may become boring since it has little variety from one day to another, but it has great coffee, cheese, salami 2 types, sweets, fruits, yogurt, cereals.
Review 30:Great location overlooking the piazza, only a short walk from the Alibus stop and not too far from the train station. Ideal base for exploring Lake Maggiore and the surrounding area.
Review 31:None.
Review 32:Friendly, efficient and helpfull staff; A homely no-nonsesnse feeling to the place that makes one feel ummeiately at ease; Proximity to all the restaurants, bars, shops and everything that is lively in the town and especially proximity to the fantastic promenade and to the boats that go around the lake. We have stayed in a few hotels in this trip, some of them more "luxurious" but the best night sleep we got here and the most homely feeling. We are sure to make this hotel our base for future stays in the area.
Review 33:Unhelpful owner who objected to giving any help with room. Had to rely on guest to show me how to open door. Dark halls and Housekeeper turned off fan needed to keep room cool.
Review 34:Good location in center of town near Laundromat. 5 to 10 minute walk from ferry.
Review 35:The only negative was the mixed weather, loud noise outside early morning and noisy bell ringing from neighbouring church.
Review 36:We received a very warm welcome.A wonderful breakfast buffet each morning-nourishing healthy and tasty. Fabulous location in centre of square. Beautiful views of mountains. Friendly helpful staff.Great wine and cappucino.
Review 37:room is super small, shower even smaller and no AC. Everything looks old and old fashioned.
Review 38:super central, right in the heart of Stresa with lively square in front.
Review 39:The location is really convenient and the staff were all very friendly. Our room had a small balcony with a lovely outlook towards the hills behind Stresa.
Review 40:the hotel is centrally situated in a piazza. The room was spacious and we had hot showers. There is a fan in the room which was needed as it was very warm. They offer a continental breakfast served until 10am. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. You are a short walk away from the lake and plenty of restaurants are right outside. Lovely place to stay would definitely go back.
Review 41:I feel the rooms can use a little updating with accessories, bedspreads, etc.
Review 42:Love the location in Stresa center. Staff is friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are very clean and modern.
Review 43:Please can you put a mirror in the bedrooms!! There was only one inside the wardrobe and tiny bathroom one. No drawer space.
Review 44:very friendly staff and very central location - wifi was good and worked for more than one item!
Review 45:Stresa is a hidden gem as is this hotel. The balcony and view across the piazza was stunning. It was hotel was convenient to the train station and ferry. The room was comfortable and the breakfast very good. All the workers were helpful and friendly.
Review 46:I was there on a Sunday night and there was some late night partying happening in the square. I put some earplugs in andt slept well.
Review 47:Location in the main square where all the restaurants and bars are. Neat and tidy with comfortable bed and excellent breakfast. Small but excellent bathroom and shower. Balcony overlooking the square.
Review 48:No bad experiences
Review 49:There was a lift to the upper floors. Nice view of hills at back of hotel. conveniently sited for the ferry and not too far from the railway station (15 minute walk downhill). Laundrette nearby. In-room safe. Fridge.
Review 50:Location is perfect. Hotel has small parking where you can park you car if it is small. Room is a bit old furnished but good. View is not to the sea but still very nice especially from the top floor.
Review 51:Seemed when booking it had views of the lake, but didn't, and was not really walking distance from train station when pulling cases over cobble streets.
Review 52:Easy access to the Borromelean isalands of Isola Bella,Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre, all well worth a visit
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:Everything. The location is right in the square and the view from our Balcony was lovely. Hotel Elena is old but our room and bathroom were very clean and spacious.
Review 55:the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors every word and they talked all the time. we left the hotel feeling tired instead of rested.
Review 56:the location is good for an easy walk to the ferry. the room had a nice small balcony.
Review 57:The lady that runs the hotel is lovely, helpful and attentive. Great breakfast and bar/cafe. The hotel conveniently opens onto the square and is within walking distance to the lake. The rooms are simple but spotlessly clean and functional. We will stay here again.
Review 58:Shower was a little small with fixed head
Review 59:Super location on a main square and very near lake and boat departure point. Attentive staff and clean spacious room. Breakfast was varied with excellent coffee
Review 60:Location in heart of town. Welcome and recognition by staff even though we only visit for one night per year recently, though first stay was some 25 years ago before the bar became a proper hotel with en-suite rooms!
Review 61:Great location on edge of Piazza. Balcony view over square was great. We will return. Good for base to visit islands and villages around the lake. Just be leisurely and sit by the lake. In house bar best place for a drink before going for dinner. Prices very reasonable. Popular accommodation for other Australians.
Review 62:The piazza was quite noisy at night at the weekend. Double glazing helped when closed but you might want to take earplugs if you like the windows open.
Review 63:Great location in the middle of Stresa overlooking busy piazza, wonderful for people watching whilst sipping an aperol spritzer on the balcony. The room was quite basic but comfortable and had a fridge which was a a great bonus. The hotel owner was very helpful and kind.
Review 64:Could not find or think of anything to comment on here.
Review 65:It was certainly a pleasure to visit Stresa and of course stay at Hotel Elena. Convenient to everything you could want or need to do whilst visiting this wonderful part of Italy. We would love to come back and stay again.
Review 66:Everything! The place was very easy to find, just 7 min walk from the station. Just 100 m from the lake and ferry station, with lots of shops and restorants, with a supermarket 1 min walk. The room was big and clean, with a balcony. Everything I need in the room was there - safe, which I did not use, minibar, hairdryer, fast Wi-Fi. The bed was comfortable. They changed towels every day. No AC, but the big fan did a great job. Breakfast was delicious with great cappuccino. I really do not understand why this place has one star, it deserves at least 3. Dear owners, thank you very much, you made my stay a perfect one!
Review 67:The rooms are small and the decor is dated, but everything was clean and the room was airy anyway, so it really wasn't a problem.
Review 68:This hotel is located right on Stresa's main piazza--it couldn't be more central. Even though it was right in the heart of everything, the rooms were peaceful and quiet and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was terrific--fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, pastries, and great cappuccinos. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Review 70:It rained next morning!
Review 71:Excellent location in the old centre of town with good restaurants and 2 top class ice cream outlets in the square below. Friendly helpful staff. A really good bar.
Review 72:You should have a clear description of the route to the parking 100 m from the hotel. In reality one is not allowed to drive up to the hotel. We did it - hope we shall not find a ticket when we come home.
Review 73:The location in the center of this small town. Hotel is nice . although somewhat run down. Personnel very helpful.
