Reviews for La Casa de la Marquesa

Review 1:WiFi reception in the room was pretty much zero, but zou might aswell do whatever work necessary in the lobby and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere taking you to the past.

Review 2:This 18th century building is just amazing. It is like stepping into a piece of history. It is beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail. The location is perfect if zou want to wisit the historic centre of Queretaro, with a lot of restaurants and activities within walking distance.

Review 3:A couple of private events held in the lobby and dining area prevented us from being able to enjoy the space.

Review 4:The staff we're friendly and welcoming.

Review 5:The only thing that did not work well was the internet on the third floor....but all you had to do was go down a floor and it worked fine.

Review 6:Just being in a gorgeous, huge, comfortable place with a friendly, courteous and helpful staff at the ready.

Review 7:Our room was next to the street which gets pretty noisy early in the morning. Ask for a room away from the street.

Review 8:Beautiful historic building. Fantastic location right in the middle of the historic downtown area of the city.

Review 9:Our room this stay weasn't as appealing as our previous stay. We really missed having our own private patio.

Review 10:Location was perfect for walking centro to enjoy restaurants and the Independence Day celebrations.

Review 11:Personally would have preferred a king size bed in the El Marqueza room which was fantastic otherwise.

Review 12:Look and feel of the hotel, especially the staff who were most helpful.

Review 13:I did not spend much time in the room but, a bigger TV with more English channels would have been nice.

Review 14:Location is excellent, I love the downtown and this hotel is like stepping back (architecture and decor) 200 years to an old Spanish castle. Staff were excellent, greeted you as a friend and actually did treat you like one.

Review 15:Bathrooms while super clean could use a renovation.

Review 16:Beautiful property, antique furniture, old world grandeur, superb service, great staff, fabulous food and breakfast.

Review 17:The WiFi router near my room did not work. I ordered the coconut shrimp for MX260 and was disappointed. They were chewy. The vegetables tasted like they had been in the freezer.

Review 18:large room & bathroom; private patio; lavish decor; tasty breakfast from menu

Review 19:The dining room gets really crowded with outside people, so eat breakfast early

Review 20:It is a gorgeous, historic property. The manager was especially nice and helpful.

Review 21:If you get a room by the street, you will have to bear with the shouting and laughing of the legends tours up until midnight, and then the service trucks and other noises. But that's not the hotel's fault.

Review 22:The decoration is really spectacular, like going back in time. The location is perfect for walking around downtown.

Review 23:Conveniently located in the heart of the historic district, it's within minutes of restaurants, plazas, and churches. The hotel was spotless, stunning architecture, comfy beds which is unusual for Mexico. We stayed on a Friday night, in Maximilian & Carlotta room...gorgeous with boveda ceilings, luxury linens. Very quiet room.

Review 24:nothing

Review 25:It was amazing to stay in a place with so much history. It is absolutely elegant. The dining room was so special. We had a wonderful breakfast with a pianist playing as we dined. The staff is excellent.

Review 26:If you're into historic architecture. And classic interiors, this is the hotel for you! And it's location in the heart of Queretaro's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, can't be beat! Excellent, friendly staff too!

Review 27:I wish the legend story was told to us at the beginning of our stay, because it was very special.

Review 28:I liked most, The staff they always went out of there way. I never fill out reviews but this time, i was so impressed, the staff deserved my time. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 29:I was terribly disappointed that I could only stay one night. I havealready told friends about the Marquesa and will continue to do so.

Review 30:I am a reluctant traveler. As a result even the littlest thing wrongwith a room or hotel can make me feel as if I'm a detainee atAirport Security. For the first time in as many perhaps 20 years I feltcomfortable. Let me restate that: comfortable. Clean. Quiet. Clean. Andmodern without loosing the feeling of being in a 250 year-old house. What a treat!

Review 31:The restaurants can make some improvements, they do have a parking lot, but getting to the hotel in your car and the Valet service turns out to be a bit messy since the Hotel is situated in a pedestrian street. For elderly people, it could be a bit complicated since, due to the antiquity of the building, there are no elevators. Bar service is poor and should make an improvement (no music, no Gin, the barman didn't even show up on that day), I had to go somewhere else.

Review 32:The exclusivity of the hotel, the history of the house, the architecture, the staff.

Review 33:Beautiful building and excellent rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect to explore centre of town. Would definitely recommend.

Review 34:They may need to re fresh the bathroom in the presidential suite. The padio jacuzzi needs to be replaced couldn't use pieces of it peeled off every where

Review 35:The building has history & Beautiful architecture beautiful location

Review 36:Althought the Dona Trini room has the best balcony (wraps around the corner of the building) you get a lot of noise first thing in the morning. So, if you are not an early bird, pick one of the interior rooms.

Review 37:The hotel ambiance is like nothing else. You really feel like you go back in time with period furniture, architecture and style. Hotel is absolutely beautiful.

Review 38:that i could not spend more time in there

Review 39:The architecture and decoration. It is christmas time and they had the most beautiful christmas tree i have ever seen, the lighting, everything is so beautiful.

Review 40:Being ripped off for a night missed due to cancelled flight. Still charged even though multiple vacancies in hotel that same night. Staff's hands "tied" by management. Property attractive, but the owners are thieves.

Review 41:Beautiful building, relatively well maintained.

Review 42:Excellent facilities, location and staff. We had dinner at the restaurant since we were tired after our flight and drive but did not think it was worth the price, a word of caution that the roadworks in front makes it inaccessible directly by car but the bellboys do a great job of taking care of ur car once you get there

Review 43:Road construction in front of the hotel made access very difficult. Will be very nice once the work has been completed.

Review 44:Very old with the most beautiful, baroque decor. Most interesting hotel we've ever experienced. Very close to the the central square. Novel room lock and key.

Review 45:Our room was located inside the hotel entrance lobby. There was allot of noise and we could hear the staff talking outside our room at night.

Review 46:Great location

Review 47:We liked it all. The rooms the bathroom was 5star from m the double bathtub to the lighting. The staff was warm, knowledgable and attentive. The location is perfect

Review 48:The building and the rooms are exceptional and historic

Review 49:The price is expensive, just worth it if you choose the Alahambra bedroom or the one with the jacuzzi. Not all of the rooms are nice.

Review 50:The Alahambra bedroom is beautiful, be sure you get this room when reserve.

Review 51:From the office staff to the cleaning ladies, the staff was accommodating, respectful, considerate and trusting. My wife and I traveled with my parents and stayed here for three days and my parents really enjoyed their stay and loved their room. after we'd left, they were very helpful in retrieving an item I'd left behind. Parking was not an issue, as we had hour vehicle parked at the front the whole stay. I look forward to returning soon.

Review 52:I didn't like that we had to leave!

Review 53:Everything was great-it was like being transported (in a good way!) to another era. From the moment we arrived (and we were hours before check-in, but they gave us a room anyway) to when we left (a staffer ran to the corner to hail a taxi for us), everything was great. We loved the hotel (and Queretaro) so much that we decided to stay an extra night.

Review 54:Nothing.

Review 55:The architectural detail throughout the hotel (including rooms) was unbelievable! The staff responded quickly to our few requests and seemed to be at the ready at all times. The bed was extremely comfortable and we really enjoyed the room. Great location!

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:History behind the La Casa de la Marquesa Staff was always charming and polite Valet Parking Staff was always helpful The fourniture of each of the rooms really make you feel like you were back in time

Review 58:The only negative I can think of was that the breakfast didn't quite live up to the rest. This is harly criticism however.

Review 59:Wonderful hotel with beautiful colonial architecture; must be in the guidebooks as there were often people popping in for a quick photo. We were in one of the suites which was all high ceilings, coloured tiles, and carved wood. Hotel is right in the heart of the historical district, and astonishingly good value (compared to home) for a place of such character.

Review 60:It smelled that the room was fumigated with DDT to kill mosquitoes.

Review 61:Very clean Conveniently located very reliable staff very close to downtown and all the attractions

Review 62:Traffic downtown could be a bit hectic, but if you are just staying in town and not going on day trips, this is the place

Review 63:This is what is Mexico all about, a genuine ancient home that belonged to the Marques del Lago, during the Spanish Colonization. Everything is made to perfection, you just have to dress the part. I stayed at the Maximiliano and Carlota's Suite, (the only Emperator ever to rule Mexico in the 1800's

Review 64:Great location, great old world feel. Staff was on top of everything. Room was clean and spacious. Easy walking distance to many places in Centro.

Review 65:Location the place is beautiful and people were very Helpful and friendly.

Review 66:Everything

Review 67:We could hear a lot of noises through the door.Sound travels through the door.

Review 68:Old charm

Review 69:Bed was hard as a rock

Review 70:Location

Review 71:We felt kiND of in a rush to leave due to them preparing for a wedding later that day.

Review 72:Great historical place to stay in.

Review 73:Poor WiFI in our room (Josefa)

Review 74:Everything!

Review 75:wi-fi only worked in the lobby.

Review 76:A fantastic period hotel. Spacious room with ornate detailing. One of the finest rooms I have ever stayed in.

Review 77:Really wish the beds were more comfortable, hard as a rock.

Review 78:Location and decor of hotel were spectacular, central and safe!

Review 79:Great location walking distance to main square. Clean bed nothing fancy but good for the price

Review 80:because its center of the city, very noisy outside, always bells from church and music from buskers!

Review 81:really big rooms!

Review 82:a high volume of piano :-)

Review 83:Sitting in Lobby, listening the piano

Review 84:Wifi only worked in one corner of the room, which wasn't a big deal for us, only a bit inconvenient

Review 85:It is a beautiful property, well maintained, and in a great, convenient location. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 86:Disappointing breakfast! But a nice dinner.

Review 87:A beautiful, historic house with antiques galore. I recommend staying in the room, Alhambra!

Review 88:Nothing, it was a great time

Review 89:The architecture was stunning. The service was a delight and it was wonderful without being stuffy

Review 90:Beautiful hotel in great location

Review 91:wifi signal

Review 92:better wifi in rooms

Review 93:A little bit noisy at evening time.

Review 94:Fine location! Very nice building!

Review 95:A bit shabby; some fresh paint would help.

Review 96:Quiet Good sized room Historic

Review 97:Beautiful 18th century building, very nice room, lush décor, pleasant staff - worth going to for its own sake. Very good value.

Review 98:Spacious colonial rooms, great value for the money.

Review 99:Poor WiFi in room.

Review 100:Big room. Dramatic old hotel. Very helpful staff. In room safe deposit box. Quiet room at back of hotel.

Review 101:Rooms have no windows

Review 102:Nice hotel

Review 103:The rooms, the service

Review 104:i dont likenthe matress

Review 105:Everithing

Review 106:Great place, really beautiful, awsome rooms, price and location.

Review 107:The mattress is extremely firm. The wifi is only available in the main casa. If you stay in the rooms around the corner you have to go to the main casa to access the wifi.

Review 108:La Casa de la Marquesa has some much character. The raised ceilings, art work, tapestry, gives it a historical authentic feel worth experiencing. The breakfast is fantastic. The service is great. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly and go out of their way to serve you.

Review 109:Casa de la marquesa is a house with it´s own history and it seems likeyou are in other ¨time¨ ...you can see from your balcony theëstudiantina" walking at the street side, playing and singing beautifulsongs and all the tourist following them dancing and taking photos. Youcan also sleep with your widows all open instead the air conditioner,..it is an old and luxury house with all the modern things you need.

Review 110:Horrible customer service! The personnel was clearly not trained to deliver world-class customer service, the room manager lied to my face, the hotel manager would not come out of his/her office to talk to me and try to resolve the problem. I was sent to an adjacent building of very low quality and taste, the rooms were furnished with very cheap furniture and a bathroom you would not want to step on it! I shared my concerns and the best that the "manager" could do was to say that he would find another hotel for me and my wife. The only employee with a genuine interest in providing good service was the Security manager "Sergio", he should be the hotel manager.

Review 111:NOTHING, when you receive bad service nothing looks or tastes good.

Review 112:1. The environment was not as "fairytale" as had been described in reviews by others, nor did it deliver for me what the photos showed on the website.2. For a double occupancy room, there was 1 bathrobe and 1 pair of slippers. 3. The quality of the mattresses was well below what I would expect for this hotel.

Review 113:1. The staff were very kind and helpful. They organized massages with very little notice.2. The dining experience in the restaurant was very good.

Review 114:I had a room to the street and it was very noisy, but when you are in a mexican city you must be aware of that

Review 115:very nicely restored building of the mexican baroque era, preserving an elegant yet cosy atmosphere - the staff is extremely friendly and the service excellent - the cost is relatively high compared with a modern european hotel equipped with the latest technology, but that's exactly what you're actually not looking for in this hotel

Review 116:The intermittent failure of the internet service, the lack of training of their staff, specially in the restaurant. The food is good, but the waiters and waitress keeps you waiting for ever.

Review 117:The wonderful building transfers you to the XIX Century with beautiful balconies, high ceilings and wide walls. The room is spacious, functional and there is enough place where to keep your clothes. The location is excellent and you can walk through the streets safely and enjoy the music, art craft and restaurants.

Review 118:La Casa de la Marquesa is in the perfect location with easy walking distance to the beautiful centro historico of Queretaro. The hotel is truly unique with each room so individual from the next. A pure joy to stay in this fabulous hotel.

Review 119:The bed was like a rock! I would have been more comfortable on thefloor. I mentioned it to the staff the next morning and they assured methe new owner was in the process of upgrading the beds and if I returnedI should ask for one of the new ones. The room was quite noisy, but since everything about the hotel seems to be original and rustic, and it's located right in the center, it was to be expected, and was no big deal. There was no safe in the room which was a disappointment, but as I have hard motorcycle luggage, it wasn't a big deal. I believe there is a safe in the main hotel. WiFi can be spotty in the annex building where I stayed. A WiFi repeater is a small expense and they should really consider it.

Review 120:The location, decor and staff were excellent. I traveled 75,000 mileslast year through 7 countries and this is my favorite hotel. It no smallthing, but the shower was like being under a fire hose! Wonderful! They have secure parking a few blocks from the hotel for an additional charge, but they said I could leave my motorcycle outside the door of the main building on the street and it would be watched. They even said I could bring it inside the main doors at night if I wanted. That's service! They have street parking roped off for guests if you will be using your car frequently.

Review 121:One night there was some kind of construction going on in our section of the hotel at 10:30pm. My brother asked them to stop and they did but this seemed like bad timing.

Review 122:I loved the old world feel of the rooms and especially the common areas. The food at the restaurant was also excellent. I spent a number of hours reading in the lobby and in the courtyard, and it was great to be able to order teas/coffees or beers/wines and just sit and relax. The staff was very helpful and though I spoke some spanish they were also accommodating in English.

Review 123:"La Casa Azul" rooms are appart from the main building, and have no reception or front desk on the premisses. All rooms doors face an interior patio, where there was a family event with live music when we arrived. Our room had no windows, and there is a lack of security, since the doors are flimsy, and there is no clerical or security personnel in this building. There is no safebox in the room.

Review 124:Excellent location Large and confortable room Very nice and courteous staff Picturesque decor

Review 125:Old TV

Review 126:Beautiful decoration

Review 127:Hotel staff unfriendly, I would say uppity

Review 128:marvelous old building, with lovely old furnishings

Review 129:very little almost all good

Review 130:Age and history. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Cleanliness and servicing of rooms.
