Reviews for Nizuc Resort & Spa

Review 1:Constantly waiting for a waiter to order drinks at the pool or beach. Most of the time it felt like the staff were doing us a favor even though we are paying $1,000 a night. Staff was not accommodating

Review 2:Location is very good and the villas are well thought out

Review 3:I was quite surprised that I didn't see one jacuzzi or outdoor hot tub anywhere including the adult pool area. never seen this before in a resort of this caliber. Even in the spa at $85 a day per person does not have a hot tub but a whirlpool with warm water. My other critique is that i felt like every second I was being nickel and dimed and had to sign for everything. If I wanted room service to leave my food at the door they didn't allow because I had to sign. Service charge was always already included so they didn't need me to add a tip. Some standard things usually included like a small breakfast etc were also not provided. Also because of my dietary requirements I am limited where I can eat and they don't allow any food or deliveries from outside establishments and the food I brought I was charged over $50 to just have them heat it up and bring to the room. Also the villas offer supreme privacy but at the expense of any view except the wall of your small compound. Lastly the main pool has a swim up bar but the adult pool doesn't. Would've liked at the adult pool to be able to do that.

Review 4:The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are spacious and luxurious and they really have privacy in mind. An outdoor shower, private plunging pool etc all add to the experience. Restaurants were very nice and food was delicious and chef went out of his way to make a delicious meal that met my specific dietary requirements. You really feel like a celebrity with the butler service and the way everyone greets you and is ready for your any request.

Review 5:Poor film selection. Slightly limited vegetarian menus. Spa was very expensive.

Review 6:Nizuc is a really relaxing and serene place to stay where the staff take great care in looking after the guests and creating a calm and laid back experience. There are several secluded spots for sun bathing and yet staff are never too far away to serve food and drinks and they are always very polite and friendly. The free snorkel equipment is a nice to have and there are plenty of fish to see out by the island. The Indochine restaurant is good and they were very accommodating of my gluten allergy. Our room was always beautifully maintained and clean, plus paying extra for a larger space with sun beds is worth it.

Review 7:The bar was a little "dead"....if would be great with somelive music etc.

Review 8:The design of the hotel was out of this world. The staff wasextremely friendly

Review 9:At times flat out gouged. Set up taxi for me to senor frogs 50 bucks. Set up myself 20. Jet ski 350 sn hour? Closed beach hut at 5- sun still up till 9. Got paddle board went to docks on it to snorkle for abit, they came and got board, even though i was still using it. Tickets to ecplor double price of what i found. Overall i just felt were trying to squeeze every penny they could. My wife loved it, i could do without ever returning

Review 10:75 percent amazing 25 percent frustrating. Waiters, bellhops, check in staff fantastic

Review 11:The 30% additional charges (taxes..) on top of room rate is a problem and should be highlighted more when you book. The resort was 28% full but when we changed our room there was no offer of a reduced upgrade, despite what we were paying. The resort feels too dispersed and were in block 9 initially which is far from the main area.. hence we upgraded. Service was at times a bit too helpful - largely due to it not being so busy. Beach was often affected by seaweed.

Review 12:Beautiful location, central areas well landscaped, Quality of service is great and staff friendly and helpful. Food was great and a great selection and variety.

Review 13:Had to think here!........Beach, although beautiful and scenic, is not really the best swimming beach. Well you can swim but it is not the most sandy beach in the world. You can however snorkel in a coral reef just by jumping of the jetty and it's also great for the under water museum. I'm being really fussy here and food is fantastic but Just a fraction of a notch less good than my other favourite place in the area for my personal taste (which by the way would be hard for anywhere to beat particularly as that place has only a quarter of the rooms that Nizuc has). Overall though Nizuc still might beat my other favourite place.

Review 14:The adult pool is so relaxing with a lovely zen ambience. I loved in particular just looking out over the edge of that pool at the greenery and beyond into the ocean. The food and drinks here are also good, and as with everywhere at Nizuc the service is top notch. Staff are quick to attend and always greet you with their hand over their heart. Everything basically was true five star and it had a unique and beautifully relaxing zen atmosphere. One of the green plants surrounding the hotel emits the most beautiful sweet citrusy smell which I loved.

Review 15:Love love love...... What a great place to relax!! Nice, peaceful and beautiful place to be. The staff was great, the spa was amazing!!! Can't wait to go back. Wish it with of been all inclusive

Review 16:Luxurious and well designed rooms, spa and hotel areas. Tasty and well presented food in all restaurants. Staff are always available to help. Great location on Punta Nizuc with plenty of opportunities for beach activities. In proximity to be not too close to the amenities of the Cancun hotel zone. Nice touches in the rooms eg. chocolates before bedtime etc.

Review 17:Staff was good but lacked genuine care for customers and memory for what you like and dont like. Price was steep, not all inclusive and expensive consumption in the hotel. Needs more and better beach staff.

Review 18:Facilities, pools, lobby and food were all spectacular. Best spa I've ever been to. Gorgeous beach area.

Review 19:Everything, from having your own butler for all your needs. They think of every detail possible to make your stay the best. You never carry your own bag or open your own door. Amazing and would stay again. Came to Moon Palace Nizuc afterwards on VIP. A joke to Nizuc hotel!!

Review 20:Service is extremely slow. Takes ages for rooms to be cleaned or room service to arrive.. Staff is very nice but not well trained for a 5 star deluxe

Review 21:The hotel itself is beautiful, the building, the rooms, and most importantly the breakfast is outstanding.

Review 22:Taxi ride from cancun airport to hotel was a rip off, even though its a 5 min drive you pay the same as you go from jfk to manhattan

Review 23:The design of the hotel High ceilings Overall everything

Review 24:Expensive breakfast and anything not included. I suppose pricing is inline with the the hotel level, bit quality is good.

Review 25:Big rooms, great design, very clean, huge bathroom and complimentary Nespresso and water. Buildings spread in beautiful gardens.

Review 26:1. Limited water sports on site. Would've loved if they had small sailboats for use. Was a bit bored after a few days, but I tend to be an adrenaline junkie. 2. Our room, #300 located in building 8, had no privacy. It faced a restaurant and a common area. Other gusts could easily see inside and there was constant noise. Also it was supposedly an ocean view but really wasn't. Avoid all of building 8 and room 300 in particular for these reasons. 3. Boredom again. The concierge did not have a large choice of activities to offer. And those which were offered were crazy expensive.

Review 27:1. The beach. Secluded and beautiful, not crowded, could wade in calm shallow water way out. 2. The restaurants on site are nothing short of spectacular. Very good wine selection as well. 3. The reef is a short swim off the beach and was one of the most spectacular reefs I've ever seen. Primo snorkeling locale teeming with fish. 4. Wonderful staff. Superb service. 5. Large beautiful well appointed rooms. 6. Zen like decor through out the property. 7. Sophisticated clientele. Hardly any children. Yay!

Review 28:Has an intimate feel to it - both a family pool and beach and adult only pool and beach. Nice variety of restaurants. You have to travel via golf cart from hotel room to lobby, pool and beach.

Review 29:my room key didnt work and the reception was soo far so, we had to wait long time before they could fix the problem

Review 30:the beach was great and they had a pool beach space for adults which was awsome

Review 31:We were given 2 queen size beds and we wanted a king size. A bit disappointed about that.

Review 32:Mexican spirit & Mayan soul is what you get. We were mesmerized by the great service and the amazing staff at this resort. I have never experienced service level like this before. I have to mention Diego from the staff as a great guy and he went the extra mile for us - always with a smile and a positive attitude. The food is great - especially the Indochine restaurant and Victor is a number one guy. Thank you for all. The beach is nice and quiet and the surroundings are just so beautiful. The room is spacious and clean. The beds are perfect. It's a international hotel with guests from a over the world, mainly from us.

Review 33:Suite buildings are "out of proportion " in comparison with the rest of the property , resort good vibe is a bit lost there... Try to stay in the central building rooms or villas nearby.

Review 34:The atmosphere in the resort is astonishing! Beautiful design, contenporary but "warm", with a local twist. Good location (secluded) white sandy beaches, turquoise sea! Excellent service, helpful staff, you will fell pampered!!

Review 35:The front desk was not very accommodating on a couple of issues with the room and didn't seem to really want to make sure you were taken care of as a guest in terms of whatever issue you had – for the money spent I expected to be heard and the problem fixed in a better fashion

Review 36:The location of an overall feel of this resort is awesome every detail is taken care of and you feel as if you were on a private island

Review 37:The staff have a very strange and military type salute they give you, very disconcerting, looks uncomfortable for them and was definitely for us.

Review 38:Great location and services, really nice staff. Very good food at restaurant "R" and great breakfast.

Review 39:Two things were bad. One I wish it was an adults only resort. However we pretty much stayed on the adults only side so it didn't bother me that much. The second thing is it's very expensive. It's not all inclusive, so the dimmer and drinks are pricey. I knew this going in and was fine with it. I got an expensive bottle of wine every night I was there with dinner, ordered whatever I wanted to at dinner, got all the food I wanted to eat, and drank as much as I wanted to. I also got a massage. My total bill was about 2k when I checked out. (For my wife and I) to be honest I didn't think that was bad at all.

Review 40:This was the best resorts I stayed at in Mexico. My wife and I came here for our anniversary. we stayed in the ocean front suite which was one of the nicer rooms I have ever stayed in. The view was breath taking. The food was also very very good at every place we ate at there. This is rare to find out of the country. I have stayed at some very high end resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, but this is my favorite. We will be back.

Review 41:Staff was not entirely up to scratch: had dinner in one of the restaurants and waiters were literally standing next to us to remove the plate and bring next course. Did a three course menu in under 45 minutes. Ridiculous. Staff bows every time a visitor passes by - are we still in a feudal society?

Review 42:Location very nice. Architecture well designed. Resort very spacious.

Review 43:I wish they didn't forbid my dog from swimming in the sea! Although it's a government law.... I mean...

Review 44:This hotel is not only beautiful and designed with an amazing good taste but it's run perfectly. The service, the facilities, food, cocktails -- all surpass expectations. I travel quite a lot and I e stayed in some of the best hotels -- this one is definetely up there and will always renain my choice when in cancun. I like the proximity to the airport and the fact that it's away from the horrible plastic Disneyland of touristic drunk cancun

Review 45:$10.00 for water.

Review 46:The grounds and the architecture we stunning. The staff were all very attentive and professional. We were there for a short stay, but would definitively go back for a relaxing vacation. It's very quiet and peaceful.

Review 47:The friendliness and willingness of everyone at the hotel to provide prompt and quality service! The location is also unique, its just at the tip where ocean and lagoon merge.

Review 48:Needed a room butler to get ice, no ice machines in the halls.

Review 49:Loved the beaches, rooms, restaurants / bars and service. Not cheap, but worth it! Truly and great place.

Review 50:Warning to those traveling without trip insurance. We were grounded due to weather. Missed out on a full night a day. I called the hotel every time we were delayed. They knew what was happening yet they still charged us for that night. So warning. Read hotel polices carefully. Also we could not play music by the pool. Afternoons the mosquitos are horrible. They need to spray!

Review 51:We stayed in a villa with pavilion and pool. The room was amazing. Butler service was excellent we wanted for nothing. Food was ok would not say 5 star.

Review 52:The staff service is excellent through their love to serve and be of help. The resort is most definitely a mayan experience mixed with modern simplicity and maximum comfort. The rooms are exceptionally spacious and comfortable, especially the bathrooms which is a must for me. The views from the room is literally to die for. Excellent WiFi connection from all corners of the resort. Very well mannered and polite staff, Our Assigned butler Mariana was an impeccable, kind hearted and helpful addition to our stay . Always Extremely clean at all times throughout the resort and the various restaurants on site were all beautifully decorated corresponding to the cuisine served. The food was well presented and any extra requests being delivered perfectly. Everything you would expect from one of the top 5 star resorts in 2014. Tameka Alexandra Benholiel

Review 53:An amazing hotel in Cancun. There is no comparison to any other in the area. It is an Asian style resort with low height buildings , amazing lagoon and pools , fantastic minimal decoration and excellent restaurants. The service is far above expectations. If you can afford the price do not think of anything else

Review 54:staff lied regarding a situation we encountered and applied 'hotel policy' at random when not applied to all guests. expected high prices for meals and drinks, but the cheapest bottle of water was 100 pesos. which is ridiculous.

Review 55:the rooms are amazing. the laguna is amazing. the architecture is great and impressive. most of the staff was very very attentive and warm.

Review 56:The room price was high and I found out it was a promotion for the third night free and breakfast buffet.

Review 57:Staff and hotel facilities where excellent as well as food.

Review 58:Over priced

Review 59:Need golf carts to get around. Very large property.

Review 92:Unbelievably clean, Great Staff, Beautiful decor. A top notch upscale vacation

Review 93:Everythng was excellent, really.

Review 94:Perfect location and views all over. A great infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The ocean view room was amazing.Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 95:Decoration, room size, bathroom amenities, furniture, pool, restaurants, excellent service,

Review 96:Its not cheap but you get what you pay for!

Review 97:I truly lovely 5* hotel, staff were faultless and made you feel so special just by being there, accommodation was just perfect, had the most amazing time and highly recommend anyone to stay here

Review 98:the housekeeping made noise every morning at 8 am waking us There were not enough beach lounges for the beach - spiders in the lamps of the beautiful beach restaurant -couldn't get massage at incredible spa - booked by a big party? trying to be like The One and Only in Cabos but have a long way to go to get to that perfection

Review 99:The place is amazing- the thought on the Zen design and architecture is impressive and relaxing. The restaurants were good - beach 2 pool areas were beautiful first class brand new 10 months old

Review 100:It is a money trap for rich suckers. They have daily rates in the range of 500USD, but this does not include breakfast. And, on top of this, they charge 13.5% Service by default, 10% Resort fee, 6% Room tax and 13% Goverment Tax. It is absolutelly amazing how you pay for everything through your nose, and they have the guts to charge you the cost of the gardener and plants and electricity to maintain the resort ( the so called resort fee ). Their concierge, while average " in the know " only offers tourist traps packages - you are WAY better to buy online as you save 3 to 4 times the money. Same on airport transfers. 3 to 4 times more expensive at the hotel. And the SPA ... Such a great place, but i will never pay 300USD for 1 hour of massage. Money trap for un-aware rich people, that is what they run there.

Review 101:The place is very Zen like, with clear Asian influences. Very good vibes, definitelly a great place. It is what you could call a high end luxury resort, everything is quite amazing.

Review 102:A true 5 Star luxury resort in every way. If you have an opportunity to experience this resort, it is something not to be missed. The entire staff make you feel like you are their only guests. Other 5 star hotels could learn a few things from Nizuc's play book.

Review 103:The location is made for relaxation, but given this it is also expensive to get to from Downtown- 250 peso or $30 USD cab fare.

Review 104:This hotel has the best service I have ever received. The staff, facilities, meals and rooms are spectacular, not to mention the free upgrade to a king suite I received on check in. Wonderful, customer focused staff and a great location made Nizuc amazing for the relaxation I needed at the end of my trip.

Review 105:Rooms are far from main building

Review 106:Our butler's excellent service

Review 107:Price/quality of the restaurants

Review 108:Pefect hotel.. extremely kind and helpful staff
