Reviews for Ryokan Sakaya
Review 1:The breakfast could have had a bit more variety but there was plenty to fuel you up for a day of skiing.
Review 2:Good Night's Sleep: Before staying at Ryokan Sakaya i was concerned that sleeping on a futon after a hard day skiing wouldn't offer the comfort level required to recharge me for the next day, but that wasn't the case at all, and i was surprised by how comfortable they were despite being on the firmer side. Be aware the pillows are bean filled though, so if you like a feather pillow you might want to bring your own as i did, or ask the staff for a different pillow. Facilities: The hotel onsen is really top notch: my brother, who was working in the resort, visited almost all the onsens and said he thought the one at the Sakaya was the best. The rooms are very spacious and kept at a good temperature, and although staff don't speak much English they were very friendly and we managed to get by just fine. Location: The hotel is perfectly located between the high street, where there are little shops and restaurants, and the moving walkway that takes you to the ski lifts (an absolute godsend - more ski resorts should havethese!). If you visit Nozawa Onsen i would highly recommend staying here if you can stretch your budget to the fairly high cost - it is very good value for money for the experience you get.
Review 3:I'm not big on the traditional Japanese breakfast, if you aren't make sure to ask for western style.
Review 4:It's really clean and the Onsen is great! I stayed here to go snowboarding and the location is great. You are in japn so know the difference between a bed and a tatami bed. Either is fine with me. Great service!
Review 5:Nothing-it was excellent

Review 10:Very helpful staff member who spoke English.
Review 11:Best Onsen in town! Very friendly staff and in an excellent location in the town.
Review 12:Excellent traditional breakfasts, fantastic staff, great location, and arguably one of the nicer onsens in the town
Review 13:Onsen (bath) was excellent Food was a very high standard very spacious tatami mat room service was excellent
Review 14:Not much - perhaps a sign in English that enables you to identify the Ryokan.
Review 15:We were always made to feel special. A wonderful experience of Japanese customs, even if we didn't always get it right.
