Reviews for Djupvasshytta
Review 1:Getting here may be difficult out of the summer season. It's at a high altitude and even in August lakes are frozen and you can find plenty of snow on the sides of the road.
Review 2:Incredible views from the hotel, specially if you are lucky enough to have a room on the lake side. Close to Geiranger and the great viewpoint over the fjord in Dalsnibba. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Review 3:Very friendly staff Excellent breakfast and dinner Amazing view on the lake (it is really worth paying extra for a room with a view, as the others face the road and the parking)
Review 4:I had booked three nights, three months in advance. Even so, we got a room by the road in the first floor, and not by the lake. We tried to change it at least one day, but they didn't allow us to change. It is not only the view, which could be absolutely gorgeous by the lake. The first floor rooms at the opposite side of the building and overlooking the road are exposed to hundreds of people, cars and busses stopping by to see the lake, to have breakfast at the restaurant and to drive to the very near mirador. People take pictures and seem to look directly into your room. Screen windows could help, it is certainly very unpleasant to have the curtains always shut in such a beautiful place or to have people taking pictures on you in your pajamas.
Review 5:The location is very nice, but at the same might be a problem for what I explain in the negative part. Room was pretty good sized, very comfortable, bath well designed to get the most of the small. Wonderful view of the lake from the rooms at that side and from the restaurant.
Review 6:If you're looking for a large hotel in the centre of town then don't stay here. But if you're looking for peace and quiet 20 minutes drive from Geiranger then this is the place to be.
Review 7:Beautiful location. Small and quiet hotel. Very friendly. Breakfast (included) and dinner (extra) were both excellent. Recommended.
Review 8:Great staff, superb location. Terrific spot to stay on your drive over to geiranger. We used it as a stopover and the drives to and from the hotel were the best roads to drive on for drivings sake and also the different views and scenery we passed on the way.
Review 9:No Internet, no tv. Unfortunately still snow covered second week of June this year so no beautiful lake scenery to enjoy, nearby mountain closed due to weather also so there was at all to do
Review 10:Wonderful staff, very good breakfast and dinner, peaceful and quiet
Review 11:A bit of a drive from Geiranger centre
Review 12:Away from the busy centre of Geiranger this hotel seems to be on top of the world overlooking the snowy mountain peaks. Best location we encountered in Norway
Review 13:Quite a distance from Geiranger Not sure if this is a plus or minus but FYI no WIFI or any mobile phone signal
Review 14:Great location for people who wants to go to Dalsnibba in the evening. Surprisingly good dinner and breakfast. Room is basic with all the necessities.
Review 15:Location, cleanliness, kindness, complete and good breakfast, no of WiFi and poor GSM signal (for me it's a "plus"), absolute silence during the night (for a wonderful quality of sleep).
Review 16:The hotel was too far from the village spend 25- 30 mins .
Review 17:We booked 4 person for 2 roo for 1 night. This was the best hotel that we stayed in our trips along 10 day. Lovely staff , nice dinner and breakfast . Greats of lake view and very closed to damnimbba. Beautiful , clean , new rooms.
Review 18:very small and basic room, a bit run down. very basic breakfast, no television, far from town.
Review 19:interesting location - - in the middle of nowhere, yet a beautiful surrounding. staff was friendly and caring. made extra efforts to please me with a food that fits my special diet.
Review 20:Gorgeous view of lake and mountains from our window Wonderful breakfast Excellent stopover just before reaching Geirangerfjord from direction of Lom Right next to the road climbing up to the fabulous Dalsnibba viewpoint which you must not miss!
Review 21:No mobile phone coverage, and no internet/wifi, which were not a problem.
Review 22:This hotel is fantastically located by a lake at 1030 meters of altitude. The staff was very friendly. The room with lake view is incredible. My wife and I have enjoyed our stay at Djupvasshytta.
Review 23:Nothing!
Review 24:Very nice hotel, very friendly staff, great room with an amazing view, good food at the restaurant of the hotel with a table with the view on the mountain (diner and breakfast).
Review 25:the staff are really friendly and helpful; food is delicious. location is super nice, 16-17km outside of Gairanger, just at the bottom of Dashnniba, on the very side of the lake. fantastic. but they only have 7 rooms, and only for business for a few months every year, so better to book in advance
Review 26:Stayed for 4 nights and meals were always the same. Perhaps some variation of the menu would have been good. Also would have been nice to have some laundry facilities as our trip was huge and washing some gear at hotel would have been good
Review 27:Location and staff.
Review 28:Only a few rooms on the lake side, our was on the side of the road and car parking, which is noisy during the day as it is a view point with a lot of traffic Takes 20 to 25 minutes by car to go to Geiranger
Review 29:Nice and clean room Kind staff Good breakfast Very close to a very nice view point on Geiranger fjord from the top of a mountain
Review 30:Everything in this hotel deserves 12 points on the scale from 1 to 10. The hotel staff keeps behind the personnel from many 5-stars hotels I have visited so far. And at the breakfast I felt myself being a guest at the "Top Chef" show. :)
Review 31:I know it's on top of a mountain, but it was a little startling to have no phones or wifi. Small bathroom. The hallway feels outdated, like it wasn't renovated with the rest of the hotel.
Review 32:The location is truly striking. Large windows really show off the view of the mountain peaks and lake. You feel like you're on top of Norway. The room felt very clean, comfortable and fairly large. Staff was very friendly. Dinner and breakfast were good.
Review 33:Further from Geiranger than we thought (about 15km) but road has about 38 hairpin bends. There are a lot of coaches using the road taking cruise ship passengers on tours.
Review 34:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were home cooked and portions were generous. The evening meals were great value for money and good to eat - the desserts were delicious. The location of the hotel was remote and wonderfully atmospheric.
Review 35:Not a real problem - mosquitoes when you go to look at the lake. Some rooms look at mountains and the lake, while the opposite side rooms are quite close to the road so may be a bit noisy.
Review 36:Good location to stay traveling from Troll Path to Bergen if you plan also to visit Brensdal glacier
Review 37:No acces to Internet and mobile phone. However this is not a big issue for those who love nature!
Review 38:Fantastic location, maybe one of the most spectacular in Norway. Perfect access to several major touristic destinations. Very kind and professional staff, very good service, convenient rooms - specially those with view to lake.
Review 39:Bathroom very very small. No elevators and a narrow staircase. Quality of food ( dinner and breakfast) is good but could be better. Far from Geiranger: 15 km but 30'.
Review 40:The view on the lake with a beautiful sunset during dinner. The room clean, with a nice view, elegant decoration. The flexibility in tema of reservation: we have been authorised to shorten our stay with a very short notice and without any penalty.
Review 41:LACK OF WIFI

Review 57:The photo of the hotel is rather misleading, we were there in July and the lake was frozen.

Review 74:We were all pleasantly surprised by the location, by the kindness of the stuff, by clean and cosy rooms and balanced breakfast. No objections.
Review 75:Excellent location for nature lovers, especially during spring time when the lake adjacent to the hut is still partially frozen and the peaks shine in white.
Review 76:No Wifi no cell phone signal at all. But look at the bright side, it really gave us the opportunity to competely escape from the office works(emails).
Review 77:We stayed in a room with lake view in the early June. The lake view was stunning.
Review 78:Place are amaizing! Frozen Lake in Juni. Very cosy inside. The conditions of accomodation are much better than in a several 3, 4 stars hotels! The personel are very kind, polite and helpfull.
Review 79:Staff were superb. The breakfast and its presentation was really nice. The hotel is located beside a lake and is 10min drive to Dalsnibba, but its a 40min mountain drive to Geiranger if you are looking to go there. The room was big and comfortable and views from room were really nice. Very good value for money :)
Review 80:The place is in the middle of nowhere so if someone wants provisions he should buy in geiranger or in another town
Review 81:The meals are excellent and attractive. The workers are nice girls who work very hard for you to make you feel good. Very accomodating
Review 82:in the mountains there is no cellphone signal and no wifi
Review 83:the newly decorated rooms are very cozy, the staff are very sweet and cheerful, the food is tasty, especially the breakfast; when you travel through Rv55 to Geiranger Fjord, this hotel is qiute a good chioce with reasonable price
Review 84:The bathroom is not very spacious, so it's a bit hard to take a shower without spilling water around bathroom. Lack of kettle/coffeemaker in the room.
Review 85:Very hospitable and ready to help staff, location(mountains and mountain lake right near the hotel), cosy rooms, nice breakfast.
Review 86:Hard to find anything.
Review 87:Our stay at Djupvasshytta was almost other worldly - an isolated hotel on a freezing mountain lake, with incredible scenery from the ample room windows, and all this with excellent food and luxurious rooms - we thought we would use it as a stepping stone en route to more traveled attractions, and ended staying two nights -fantastic!
Review 88:N/A
Review 89:This is beautifully situated hotel, the rooms are lovely with views over he lake, and they are comfortable. the staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. We had the evening meal, which was delicious and good value. the best place we stayed at on our 2 week tour of Norway.
Review 90:Very friendly staff that had really interest in serving the customer. It was a long time ago that I had that experience. Breakfast is very good with again that personal touch. The location is excellent if you like nature. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Not good for a business trip since there is neither internet connection nor cell phone reception. This hotel you however go to get some rest and that is what you can get.
Review 91:No elevator. A bit far from the ferry port.
Review 92:Professional staff. Great lake view. Great breakfast. Close to Dalsnibba view point. Clean room.
Review 93:There was nothing to find any fault with
Review 94:Beautiful Location, friendly helpful staff, lovely food. Absolutely perfect
