Reviews for M'AR De AR Muralhas

Review 1:There's not a thing wrong with this hotel; just reserve highest ratings for extraordinary luxury or beauty. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to a friend.

Review 2:Easy to find with GPS; just inside city wall. Hotel parking was safe and convenient. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Bar was creative and reasonably priced. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. View from balcony of old city wall and pool (though we were there in winter on a rainy day). Easy walk (short distance, though a bit uphill) to all city sights. Inexpensive cab ride back from city center.

Review 3:Fabulous friendly service, good cocktails, shabby chic decor in the bedroom, great location - in the town but quiet and private. Staff v professional, v good english soken. As a female travelling on my own i felt v comfortable and welcome.

Review 4:Zero complaints!

Review 5:Unexpectedly very nice hotel. We couldn't have found a better place for a visit. We ended up eating all our meals at their fine Restaurant.

Review 6:We arrived at noon and were upgraded to the suite which is a huge two bedroom + living room + hallway appartment like suite. Offseason was quite quiet. Walked around all weekend as the hotel is inside the city wall and close to everything by foot.

Review 7:1. Very helpful service by hotel reception with our information needs; 2. Friendly & helpful service by restaurant & bar staff; and 3. Superb facilities & location.

Review 8:Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have made it perfect. Some may not like "Shabby chic".

Review 9:Great position for walking into town. Lovely room with balcony.

Review 10:Aged large hotel, suitable for large bus tours. The room was cold looking, appeared aged and old. The work desk was placed in front of the TV, the chair was about to fall apart. The springs on the bed pocked our backs. As the icing on the cake...a smell of sewage emanated from time to time from our bathroom. The ventilation is so noisy that the hotel shuts it off after 9 PM so guests can sleep.

Review 11:Good location, OK breakfast, protected parking, nice reception area.

Review 12:Nothing to dislike

Review 13:Beautifully decorated, more modern hotel set right against the inside walls that surrounds the city of Evora. Nice size rooms, very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, even had champagne delivered to our room as they knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary on this holiday. Within easy walking distance of everything within the walls of the city. The breakfast has a nice amount of choices. We would stay here again.

Review 14:It was the perfect location, access to underground parking facilities, clean, spacious & comfortable rooms, large bathrooms, lovely balcony views, well organized, the staff were extra accommodating for families. We wish we had another day to stay!

Review 15:Nothing bad about this place.

Review 16:The roomy bedroom and the pool was a real bonus considering the hot weather when we were there.Staff on the front desk were incredibly helpful.

Review 17:The exterior of the hotel is a bit untidy and could do with repainting and landscaping.

Review 18:Superb location and suberb leisure facility. Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly.

Review 19:nothing at all.

Review 20:Everything in this hotel was perfect: the staff was most kind and helpful, the room was spacious confortable and super clean, the breakfast was varied and fresh and even the hotel's restaurant was above average. I''ll back one day!

Review 21:Breakfasts were adequate only - limited choices, not high grade ingredients and staff slow to replenish

Review 22:Lovely pool area with very comfortable sun loungers

Review 23:Facility a little old. We parked on street by hotel for convenience. Did'nt notice an underground parking lot for which they automatically charge.

Review 24:Good location.

Review 25:The sofa bed on the 2nd room was very thin if you have a large person or couple it sinks quite a lot.

Review 26:Jr suite for 3 of us was more than expected- large rooms with 2 huge balconies with view of the pool & ancient city wall. Walking distance to all sites & resturants. Inexpensive parking on site! A luxury in " old cities"

Review 27:The bathroom had quite a drainy smell.

Review 28:We really enjoyed our trip to Evora and the stay in your Hotel. There was a lovely ambiance, staff were very friendly, helpful and service was good. On our first evening we dinned in your Restaurant. Great choices to eat! :) I wanted to have a lesson on how to make the squid salad!!

Review 29:The location shown on the map was incorrect and the driving direction were off too. Had difficulty finding the hotel.

Review 30:The bed was great. The location was close to the old city of E'vora. The staff was great. The recommended good restaurants

Review 31:Absolutely beautiful hotel. Attentive staff. Just inside the walls. There's not much to do in Evora...but the lovely gardens here were all I needed for my one night stay.

Review 32:The buffet breakfast didn't include any novelty in a 7 days stay. We would have liked having a room with a little terrace.

Review 33:The decoration of the hotel and the rooms, charming and confortable. Also the views from our room towards the city walls and the garden.

Review 34:Ok it was March but if you book a hotel with a pool I think they should write or call to tell you it's shut. Also I booked a double but was given a twin.

Review 35:Located at the city walls with great garden. Staff were fantastic. Lovely bar. Good breakfast until 11am.

Review 36:Very easy to walk into the main areas, but far enough to be away from all the traffic. Worth paying for the underground car park if you have a nice car, as we saw how close the coaches go to the cars parked in the surrounding area! As it is was early March the pool was empty, but still lit up at night and looked nice, would be great in the summer.

Review 37:TV was not working properly, the decoration of my room was poor, wi fi not working properly, the room was not of a 4 star hotel standart. Very poor choice for breakfast.

Review 38:Da casa do banho

Review 39:the rooms at this hotel were a bit tired, they could do with an upgrade as they advertise the hotel as a 4 star.

Review 40:The location of the hotel was very good, short walk into the old town. Lounge, dining room and bar very comfortable and modern. breakfast was fair, choice bit limited.Parking under the hotel with no charge was a great help as the area is busy.

Review 41:The hotel is tired and not so well built but than again price is excellent and space great.Parking available ,easy to find...

Review 42:The staff were very helpful..The beds super comfortable,we had a suite so plenty of room.the position good ,walking distance to everything. Breakfast was good..

Review 43:Very welcoming staff who were all either fluent or spoke passable English. Covered up for my atrocious Portuguese. Spotted my wife's imminent birthday. Very helpfull about the location and what not to miss. Would willingly include the hotel on future visits to the region

Review 44:The restaurant seemed large but had no charm and very high prices, so we didn't eat there. The breakfast "buffet" was included but lacking, and the staff in the restaurant didn't seem to care much.

Review 45:Great location right inside the old city walls and easy walking throughout the old city. We got upgraded and had a fantastic, and huge, terrace with a view of the ancient wall and the grounds. So beautiful. Underground garage to safeguard our rental car. The staff were very polite and helpful. The suite was very comfortable and large.

Review 46:We stayed for one night and found the facilities of this hotel to be very good. Clean spacious room very friendly staff. The buffet breakfast was also very good. Would go there again.

Review 47:Conservation could be improved, but is not critical.

Review 48:This is a comfortable hotel. Our room was in the second floor, with view to the garden, pool and the city wall, which is also the wall or the hotel and is lit at night. Room was very ample and the bed comfortable. For the breakfast, there are big modern wood tables by the garden what, in days of good weather, as those of when we were there, make you forget the time. We had a wonderful lunch there too, having what they call "feijoada", with white beans and kinds of meat. It is worth spending more than a night. It has a garage at extra cost, some 5 Euros a day. Some corridors need a better conservation, but we didn't consider conservation very strong question.

Review 49:Poor shower over the bath.

Review 50:Underground parking a boon in a busy walled city. Rooms are spacious with a large bed and lovely linen. Helpful courteous staff and a great breakfast. Large outside pool and seating in sight of the city walls.

Review 51:We had An upgrade to the suite, but we were only in two staying there only 2 nights...that apartment was really too big for nothing...(it has two bedrooms, one huge bathroom and one living room...). The bathroom I thing went under rinnobation recently so we had problems at the beginning with dirty yellow water coming from the tAp and from the shower. I thing also it's a hotel that suites to middle age, old people because we tried to have some info from the desk Bout moving around evora but they said to us to look on the internet or to ask at the info point in the city.

Review 52:The location, the breakfast.

Review 53:staff not particularly knowledgeable when asked information about parking or facilities

Review 54:large room good breakfast good position and possibility of parking the car.

Review 55:Hotel for touring groups. Too few deckchairs around swimming pool so a lot of people put their towel on a seat at 7 in the morning (horrible). Food not terribly good. Too many people if a touringbus arrives.

Review 56:Situation in Evora. Big underground parking (at a small cost). Nice big room with view on pool with big windows. Extensive breakfast. Possibility to eat al fresco.

Review 57:Foul smell from bathroom Limited space around the pool Poor quality breakfast Poor service in bar

Review 58:Safe parking under ground. Spacious room and sun terrace

Review 59:There is not an specific parking area in the hotel but we didn't have problems to find where to park.

Review 60:Rooms are well decorated in Portuguese style and have a terrace with has a nice view to the pool

Review 61:The room could perhaps be a bit more spaceous.

Review 62:The location was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also good and from the swimming pool you had a great view.

Review 63:The only thing I would intergrate in the rooms, is a ceiling fan for the bathrooms....this would be helpful especially after taking a hot shower. Though this does not remove any of the charm of this hotel, nor does diminish my opinion on the quality this place has to offer.

Review 64:Staying at this hotel was an experience I will always remember. The staff was professional, courteous and polite. Whether it was the valet, the reception staff, the waitress, and the masseuse; each and everyone working at this hotel made our whole family of six (couple with 2 children and grandparents) welcome and happy. The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable and large. The decor of the hotel and rooms are elegant and shabby chic, like a crisp country cottage. The services and food are a delight as well. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and one I will recommend. This facility is in my opinion, is a five star hotel.

Review 65:None.

Review 66:Great room, nice bathroom, clean swimming pool, excellent breakfast, excellent location (walking distance to all Evora main sites) and helpful staff. The hotel spaces (swimming pool, garden, wall, breakfast) were all very well thought, giving a very relaxed feeling to the visitor.

Review 67:The pool got busy which meant there were not enough sun loungers for everyone

Review 68:Great location. Superb hotel with a pool in a lovely setting. We were lucky enough to have a room with a large terrace

Review 69:Room staff had a tendancy to move your personal things around.

Review 70:Location is great! Right by the city walls and an easy walk into the centre. Within walking distance of the train station but closer to the bus station. Breakfast is lovely, loads of choice and tables inside and outside. The hotel overlooks public gardens which incorporate the city walls and a lot of the rooms have this view. The pool has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and is close to the terrace bar. There is a couple of supermarkets you can walk to, the easiest is fairly close to the bus station, leave the hotel via the public gardens entrance and walk ahead to a small square, turn left and walk out of the city walls, across the main road and straight down the road opposite until you reach the bus station on your left. Take the next right turn and look for the supermarket, set back, on the left hand side, behind some trees. If you are in a car you would need to turn next left at the next road and look for the car cark on the left.

Review 71:Seating for breakfast was a bit chaotic and unorganized. Bar staff were not particularly friendly; and neither the food nor the service were particularly good.

Review 72:We were upgraded to a suite, which was quite large and very comfortable. Beds were great! Underground parking was nice; front desk staff were outstanding.

Review 73:My view of the hotel may be coloured as we were upgraded to a really lovely suite, one of the nicest I have been in. However, the staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Although the town is a little limited on what it has to offer, the hotel itself is well worth spending some time in.

Review 74:I didn't think it deserves the 4 stars it has. The room was fine, but definetely not a 4 stars room. The bathroom door wouldn't even close properly, the bedroom door either and it would make a loud squeaky sound when moved. The furniture was old and not in good shape. We were given an old used file with the hotel info, it was drew on by a child probably and also some bad words written on it. At 12 at night the doors of the hotel were closed and so was the bar. The minibar in the room had 1 beer (in a double room) and multiple bottes of water. Receptionists spoke poor english, massage therapist was 20 min late for an appointment that the hotel chose for me (the spa they say they have it's actually not there, but at the other M'Ar de Ar, so a therapist comes if one needs a massage). All in all, it was fine for just 2 nights, but like I said, definetely not 4 stars and not worth the money.

Review 75:The swimming pool. After a quick visit around the town, nothing better than to lay by the pool, especially after spending days travelling seeing other parts of Portugal. A great place to stay for a few days to catch up on rest and relaxation. Also has underground carpark for a small fee, however cheaper than parking outside.Has Wifi in the rooms and good breakfast.

Review 76:Nothing I can think of.

Review 77:Beautiful view at the garden & pool from our room (probably less exciting for the rooms located at the "city" side). Absolute quietness. Big and comfortable room with all you need. Excellent restaurant. Easy access to the old city - all within walking distance.

Review 78:underground car park rather hairy if you have a large car!

Review 79:We were upgraded to a suite and we were given a fabulous set of rooms with a sun terrace overlooking the pool and a balcony looking out onto the street. Our stay was really enjoyable. The rooms and facilities were marvellous. The gentleman on Reception gave us some suggestions on places to visit and as a result we drove to Monsanto, which we found to be a fascinating place. Thank you for the suggestion as we probably would not have gone there otherwise. Breakfast by the pool was excellent. The location of the hotel was really handy for the town and we found a good restaurant on the main square and had a memorable dinner. All in all an unforgettable stay. Thank you to all the staff.

Review 80:Great location. Quaint and charming with Excellent lunch

Review 81:Poor maintenance, lack of modern facilities in rooms - no convenient electric points to recharge devices, poor shower

Review 82:Location

Review 83:Excellent location just next to the city walls. Very good breakfast. Also a nice infrastructure with gardens, airy halls, beautiful decoration.

Review 84:Very hard to find

Review 85:Very helpful staff, lovely decor

Review 86:I've loved all

Review 87:No problems .

Review 88:Quiet , good garage with nearby lift . Pleasant breakfast .

Review 89:Close to the city center

Review 90:The staff was great and even let us watch the rugby world cup final on the bar only TV.

Review 91:An upgrade on room toilet should be coming up sometime soon.

Review 92:Location,staff,setting, parking, and value for the money

Review 93:Great location,parking free at hotel,friendly staff

Review 94:Their idea of rustic is my idea that all woodwork needs a paint job.

Review 95:Location and comfort

Review 96:Hotel was close to everything in town, making our two-day stay very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was a decent spread.

Review 97:The location is great and it is so comfortable

Review 98:Good location in a fabulous town, particularly helpful receptionists (I had a lot of requests), good restaurant.

Review 99:breakfast

Review 101:Nothing bad

Review 102:Pleasant atmosphere

Review 103:Nice garden, great location . Room had a nice terrace

Review 104:Front desk staff, Nuno and Marta, were excellent!

Review 105:Not sure if the place was made to look distressed but it could have used a bit of paint.

Review 106:Good hotel. Refreshing pool.

Review 107:Resturant, pool area, size and comfortof room.

Review 108:Staff could be heard arguing. The front looks unkept and not welcoming

Review 109:The deco of the hotel

Review 110:Nothing

Review 111:Location, decor and facilities

Review 112:Wi-Fi could have been stronger, but that is only a very minor point. The hotel is lovely.

Review 113:Beautiful hotel in Evora.
