Reviews for Augusta Hotel
Review 1:Elevator is missing, especially if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
Review 2:Very friendly and cooperative staff. Good and fresh breakfast. Very silent place to be.
Review 3:There was no elevator and we had to drag our suitcases to the highest floor.
Review 4:Very nice building in (original) art deco style. Really made an effort of their (served) breakfast.
Review 5:Located in a very nice residential area so little else around for shops or entertainment.
Review 6:Lots of character and the staff was outstanding! Perfect hotel for anyone taking a cruise originating out of Ijmuiden.
Review 7:Excellent and friendly staff, that went out of their way to make our stay as good as possible. Beautifully decorated room with very good beds. The breakfast was one the best we had, and no buffet but personal service at the table.
Review 8:Nothing I didn't like.
Review 9:We were amazed by this sweet hotel which gave us a great deal in the high season on a saturday. The room was perfect: very comfy bed, a newly made bathroom, nice and really modern decorations. The best: the breakfast the next morning, that completely blew us away. I highly recommend this hotel!!!
Review 10:Nothing!
Review 11:Charming hotel that respects it's delightful building. My room had a really modern bathroom and an extremely comfortable bed but had delightful slightly battered antique furniture which completely suited the room. I loved the bar, part of which was furnished with bookcases making you feel that you were having a drink in the library of a private house. The staff were friendly and helpful (and patient with my fledgling Dutch). I loved it.
Review 12:Located at short distance from cement mills and what seems refineries, air smelled bad. Room got warm during the night and keeping window open was not the ideal option for the smell and noise
Review 13:Cozy room with a character, nice breakfast and friendly helpful staff
Review 14:all good
Review 15:All good. A short five minute walk to the amazing fresh fish restaurants on the quayside-just down the hill and turn left. Fabulous quality fresh fish monger-shop -choose what you want and then its cooked on the spot.
Review 16:Close to Terminal, very friendly staff and good facilities. All we needed was there. Ijmuiden is small so, walking into centre does not take long( if fit).
Review 17:The stairs are very narrow and steep and our bedroom required we go up some 3 flights of stairs but in all fairness I was aware that the hotel did not have a lift and on our arrival we were shown to our room and assisted with our luggage so it was't a problem.
Review 18:The position was great as we needed to be near the ship terminal. The Staff were friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. Lovely decor and comfortable quiet room. Excellent breakfast. This is a beautiful old building that has been lovingly maintained.
Review 19:About 10-15 minutes walk to centre of Ijmuiden and bus stop for buses to Amsterdam or Haarlem. Not a huge problem
Review 20:Helpful staff in all areas. Handy location for ferry terminal and viewing North Sea Canal Locks. Plenty of breakfast.
Review 21:Hotel is historic so expect typical characteristics of an older hotel (older furnishings, creaky floors, steep steps). Some will appreciate... some will not.
Review 22:Particularly liked the staff and restaurant plus the location is good for those embarking on cruises out of Ijmuiden. Food and staff were excellent at the on-site restaurant.
Review 23:No elevator!!! No porter service.
Review 24:Warm and charming staff, also helpfull and quick responding.Rooms with a for holland rare mix of old dutch, fashion- and cool design. In walking distance to Harbour and beautifull seaviews.
Review 25:The location near harbor and heavy industry is not great, but the hotel interior more than offsets this disadvantage
Review 26:Nice, very well kept facilities, cleanliness and friendly staff
Review 27:That their restaurant was closed when I was there, re opening the day after I left.
Review 28:Staff friendliness and helpfulness, ambience of the hotel, wonderful breakfast, quiet location.
Review 29:80 euro cab ride from the airport What can u do Nada
Review 30:100 year old hotel. If only the walls could talk super European breakfast. Sorry I didn't eat dinner there as I was beat from the flight Super staff
Review 31:Everything was super, the total good service, great staff... no complaints at all.
Review 32:Lovely old hotel with all the mod cons we could have wished for. Staff were excellent, friendly, helpful, Always ready with a solution and a smile. One of the best services we've ever had, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a touch of the romantic in a modern well run hotel. At first we thought the position of the hotel might be a little against it but they made up for that in bundles, lots of pubs and fresh fish restaurants nearby. Plenty of free car parking outside hotel, so pleased with every aspect of our reception and care during our stay.
Review 33:There was no elevator.
Review 34:The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Review 35:Very friendly staff well run and very clean and comfortable
Review 36:The hotel's cozy lounge area and excellent restaurant made the stay even better. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Review 37:Their restaurant and interior are excellent!
Review 38:no complaints
Review 39:it was a good hotel with excellent and friendly staff. was really made feel welcome
Review 40:I enjoyed the traditional breakfast. Service overall was very efficient, with a lovely atmosphere.
Review 41:Great location prior to cruising.
Review 42:Staff
Review 43:Whole of other side of the street was being knocked down to be rebuilrt
Review 44:Staff were very helpful
Review 45:Excellent and professional staff Style of the hotel
Review 46:None except parking was sometimes difficult due to local building works.
Review 47:Not much around it. Soft bed
Review 48:Nice old world style
Review 49:Wifi reception wasn't great
Review 50:Rooms very nice and comfortable. Friendly staff
Review 51:Service
Review 52:bed is too soft; double bed is actually two single beds put together
Review 53:everything except bed
Review 54:The whole stay was so lovely, thanks to the great and friendly staff!!
Review 55:very good restaurant, friendly staff, personal touch, beautiful building/setting
Review 56:De ruime kamer, prima bedden. Historische stijl.
Review 57:Stairs
Review 58:Hotel style. Friendly staff. Good restaurant and fine breakfast
Review 59:Lovely Hotel food excellent
Review 60:Beautiful old hotel. Well kept and rooms were spacious. Friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner was outstanding.
Review 61:No A/C NO ELEVATOR NO BELLBOY
Review 62:Inner decor Breakfast
Review 63:no elevator
Review 64:situation with regard to Felison Cruise Terminal.
Review 65:Som of the rooms may not be reachable for disabled people.
Review 66:Steep Stairs, no elevator for bags
Review 67:Great Older Hotel, a ways out. .Bus stop close by, Easy to get to Downtown Amsterdam By Bus Very Helpful Staff. Very Good Breakfast & Dinners
Review 68:Seriously? Everything was so perfect! The only reason I put "good" under location was because it was 20 minutes from Amsterdam.... which is where we spent most of our time. If we go back we WILL be staying there again. Wifi, easy free parking, fabulous all inclusive breakfast, large room (it had a BATHTUB!), great staff, and decent price.
Review 69:Could have done with an elevator for rooms on the top floor. 1x double bed would have been nicer than 2x singles pushed together.
Review 70:Excellent restaurant with great food and atmosphere and a spacious, comfortable room with a great desk and free Wi-Fi. Professional, helpful, friendly staff and a lovely English breakfast too.
Review 71:beds were too uncomfortable-too soft, no balance. stairway too steep and narrow. difficult for people with walking difficulties.
Review 72:excellent food, large size rooms, friendly staff, nice breakfast
Review 73:Rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, lots of stairs No Lifts
Review 74:Not a modern hotel, it has an unusual interior/design, takes a bit of getting used to. Nevertheless we enjoyed our three night stay, breakfast choice was excellent. Separately, although part of the building, is an excellent restaurant. helpful and very efficient staff
Review 75:The fact you didn't inform me when I booked that the evening diningrestaurant was closed for 3 weeks, reopening just after my departure. Idiscovered this on arrival and would have stayed elsewhere ifBooking.com had highlighted this. The hotel arranged meals in arestaurant in the neighbourhood. I registered my concerns with thehotel. Stayed for 2 nights.
Review 76:Very generous breakfast, but maybe same foods offered buffet style would make it less wasteful as we only wanted some of what was on offer.
Review 77:Excellent welcome from staff everyone we deal with couldn't be more helpful,
Review 78:This was our 2nd stay. Once again the staff were very friendly and helpful. Free parking is available directly outside the hotel which is only 2 mins from the ferry terminal.
Review 79:If you have lots of luggage you will find it a bit hard to carry it all ip the steep and narrow stairs. Also, there is no air condition to cool you down on a warm summer day.
Review 80:I just love this hotel. It is 100 years old, has kept its charm but carefully renovated it to fit the needs and standards of todays guests. Althought the rooms are nice and comfortable, the main reason to stay at this hotel is their fantastic restaurant. No need to eat anywhere else. Excellent staff, service and quality.
Review 81:Room could do with a touch up. Small scuffs to wall paper on corners.very clean and comfortable. Would stay again.
Review 82:Friendly staff who are very helpful in a lovely old hotel. The owner was very helpful and gave us a lift to the fast ferry straight into Amsterdam. In 30 min. The food was excellent in lovely surrounding's. Great for the beach and historical sights and fast ferry to Amsterdam.
Review 83:The rooms were beautiful, the beds very cozy. The staff was most friendly, helpful and cared for details. The salon with the fireplace was cozy - we spent some evenings there, trying tasty snacks from the kitchen. The hotel restaurant we highly recommend.
Review 84:It would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 85:Very friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to assist us. The owners very kindly dropped us off at the ferry terminal with our luggage. The hotel has a lovely old colonial feel about it. It is welcoming with a lovely open fire in the snug.Restaurant is good. Only a short distance from the ferry terminal.
Review 86:Got there reasonably early so parking was easy, expect it could get tricky later as the hotel restaurant popular will locals.
Review 87:Good price, mature staff always more courteous and attentive than young (any hotel), excellent restaurant and 4* breakfast. Positioned well for growing port business.
Review 88:Its location
Review 89:The staff were extremely helpful, we were travelling on bikes & they let us bring them inside overnight. The area where the hotel is situated is not the nicest (port area)& could be off putting but once inside it was lovely, loads of character. We ate at the hotel and whilst it was expensive, a little more than the cost of the overnight stay it was really fabulous food & service.
Review 90:Extremely clean and spacious room with full bathroom. Excellent, helpful hotel staff. Enjoyed a large delicious breakfast at the hotel each morning which made lunch unnecessary! Easy, free parking available within a block or two of the hotel.
Review 91:Well, it is a port area, not much for tourism, hard to see the sea. But it is only 20 minutes of driving from Amsterdam, where hotels are much more expensive.
Review 92:This hotel is what I exactly was looking for - specific for its area, with nicely furnished and spacious rooms. Plus - the cook in the hotel's restaurant makes magic. We took some fish plates and they were really delicious.
Review 93:There is no lift and if you are on the third floor you need to be ableto cope with a lot of steps.
Review 94:The room was very large and the staff were extremely helpful and veryfriendly. The restaurant is spacious and the food was excellent. Thishas gone down on my 'must stay' list when I visit Ijmuiden again.
Review 95:Would have liked to have tea and coffee facilities available in the room
Review 96:Nice quiet location and able to park outside the hotel. Good links to other parts of Netherlands
Review 97:Not much really ! The only thing that could surprise some people is the fact that there is no lift. The stairs to reach the first or second floor are quite steep and the floors have high ceilings in this old style hotel.
Review 98:The room was just excellent, very large, with a nice desk and plenty of room ! Wifi is free and fast. Parking is not an issue at all (and also free). The restaurant delivers high quality food (mainly french style)
Review 99:lack of space
Review 100:location close to institute
Review 101:The whole package
Review 102:Breakfast & atmosphere
Review 103:Food was nice, room was huge ! Service was great !
Review 104:Near to port, near to centre, breakfast was very good, the style of the hotel and rooms were great.
Review 105:The food was excellent
Review 106:The friendly staff
Review 107:Steep staircases
Review 108:Friendly staff Good food Easy travel to Amsterdam Close to ferry
Review 109:Far from everywhere, poor public transport connections
Review 110:Autentic hotel
Review 111:Staff were very friendly, bar area good, breakfast lovley.
Review 112:- No lift & tread depth is too small
Review 113:- Friendly and helpful staff - Service and breakfast was good
Review 114:Uncomfortable beds
Review 115:Friendly staff, good breakfast
Review 116:The design of the hotel was great, service and dinner stunning and a total surprise find in the location!
