Reviews for Grande Hytteutleige og Camping

Review 1:You have to walk 2 km to reach the village where you can buy food and stuff. Some times animals walk on the roof at night and the water heater causes sounds. No way to call or find the recipient before 9 am.

Review 2:Perfect location.Comfortable and clean place. Helpful staff(dear Stephanie thanks:)).Riding a boat is the most beautiful thing to do there you can reach the 7 sisters in 15 min.

Review 3:we took the big cabine and very enjoyed from the view, the kitchen facilities, the beds and the small living room. free parking short driving to geiranger

Review 4:No written guidance to come from andalsnes. I have to ask many people for advice. When i called the staff, she said i will not be able to make it because last ferry from linge before i could reach and no bus from eidsal to geiranger. She suggested to cancel the booking but i've came so far from Oslo since 8am and already half way and now 5pm. Thank God bus drivers helped me to take right buses and reached linge in time. I have to call back and asked another staff to order taxi for me at eidsal. I reached geiranger at about 8pm but paid a bomb for the taxi. The staff should have offered transport service if needed by guest and at lower rate.

Review 5:Good location and awesome scenery. The staff willing to let his car for me to drive around for 3 hours though at expensive rate.

Review 6:The location is perfect with an amazing view! This place is heaven on Earth. Owner and the staff were superb. They are very kind and helpful. Will definiately go again to this place in future!

Review 14:Everything. This cabin was compact but very well designed. It was very clean and everything felt brand new. The location was amazing. It is slightly further out of the main area of Geiranger but this is a plus as you get a great view of the fjord. Very good value and we got a priceless experience of seeing the aurora borealis on our front porch.

Review 15:If you have no car, it's a 2 km walk from the town, but as we are walkers not a problem for us, luckily we got some more food as didn't know hotel was shut

Review 16:Location was execellant with a great view of the Fjord, although we were going to eat at the hotel that night it was closed & we had our own which turned out to be better & a lovely evening sat on the balcony

Review 17:Possible mold in one of the bedrooms. My husband got an allergic reaction to it and couldn't sleep. Also, campers in the nearby camp stayed up until 2 a.m. laughing and talking, well beyond the quiet time.

Review 18:Cabin is adorable and well equipped. Love the porch!

Review 19:Two couples (aged 28-34) stayed in in Chalet 11 which had a fantastic view of the fjord. GH offered various activities including kyaking, boating, fishing and walks/hikes. Thomas was most accommodating and met us on arrival (which was close to midnight on Friday evening). Be sure to check ferry times if planning to drive through from Alesund to GH in the evening - we just made the last Eidsdal to Linge ferry at 23:10. Our challet was well equipped with hot plate, microwave, kettle and basic cooking utensils. Duvets and pillows are provided free of charge, sheets, duvet/pillow cases can be hired from reception. On the whole, a fantastic experience - would highly recommend.

Review 72:We liked everything. We were 3 and agree with other comments that the place is good for 3-4. I'm not sure it would be comfortable for 5 people.

Review 73:We loved the location. The cabin for 5 people was clean and comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 74:There is nothing we do not like about the cabin. It could n't be better than what it is now.

Review 75:Beautiful and modern fjord-view cabin with a terrace. Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting areas both inside and on the terrace. The staff were very warm and helpful. Wished we had planned for a longer stay.

Review 76:That we only stayed for two nights :(

Review 77:This place is awesome, once you see it you"ll understand. Excellent value for money, friendly and helpful staff but what makes it unique is LOCATION. Facilities are also good, free parking, wifi works well, coin laundry. You can rent motor boats or kayaks to explore the breathtaking fjord. Highly recommended !

Review 78:It's a bit odd that they charge you for not cleaning the cabin at the end of your stay, but we understand that it's common practice in Norway.

Review 79:The cabin was beatiful, spacious, and the view was overwhelming! Staff was friendly and helpful. The activities offered by the hotel are great too.

Review 80:mattress is too thin. difficult to reach if you dont drive a car

Review 81:excellent staff, very caring and thoughtful. Nice location, wherever you stay you can see the beautiful view of Geiranger.

Review 82:great location, flexible approach...good starting point for surrounding trips... tried kayaking, it was very nice to see that the personnel looked after us in the fjord when the weather got suddenly worse ;)

Review 83:Norway generally is a pricey place to travel to, and it so follows that the "add ons" wherever you stay (and not just in this location) can also be surpisingly pricey if you are not prepared for them. A washing machine or dryer token will cost you about 40 NOK each, which will last about 1.5 hours of use (which is not too excessive, unless you have a lot of washing and drying to do with a sick child as I did!). If you choose not to clean your cabin at the end of the stay, and use the cleaning services of the campsite (which is what we had to do as we were in a rush towards the end of our stay), it will cost you 300 NOK. Food in the local grocery store is also quite dear, so if you are driving from out of town, consider stopping off in a larger town for your supplies before arriving at Geiranger as I expect that there is a natural tendency to inflate the prices given the lack of grocery options in the town.

Review 84:This is a gorgeous location - set about 2km from the village of Geiranger so you are slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the town when the cruise ships come into port (which is a good thing!). We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with as self contained kitchen and bathroom that had a beautiful view of the fjord, and a lovely balcony on which we sat and enjoyed the view with a glass of wine most evenings. There was a small set of swings, a little sand box and a slide on the campsite which was perfect for our 2 year old son. The camp site also had a washing machine and dryer and access to a range of activities that could be booked at the reception (fishing, kayak hire, boat hire, fishing rod hire etc). We had hired a car so the trip to town for groceries and supplies was always an easy one; even so, if you do not have a car, it is not a long, and is a pleasant enough walk into town (albeit along the roadside). There a beautiful walks around the area, and if the weather is not suitable and you are at a loose end, the Union Hotel in town does have a spa, indoor and outdoor heated pool, kids wading pool and a small kids soft play area for non-guests to use (although at a hefty charge of 200 NOK per adult).

Review 85:Simple accommodation but nicely set up and good value for Norway. Excellent location on the edge of Geiranger fjord. Staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 86:The cabin was spotlessly clean and everything worked perfectly but we wished it could be bigger especially the bedrooms.

Review 87:WE loved the reception we received from Thomas - he was sincerely helpful, cheerful and friendly. We asked for an extra heater and he brought it over almost immediately. He offered information and helpful suggestions eg when we asked about fishing and was available at all times. We also loved the view from the cabin - fabulous!

Review 88:No microwave or freezer compartment in fridge but this was a very minor inconvenience but worth knowing about.

Review 89:Staff were friendly and helful and could not do too much to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Review 90:Fabulous location so relaxing here with Stunning views and great access to all local activities, would love to have stayed longer
