Reviews for Yumoto Hotel
Review 1:Hotel is quite dated, much like the town. It seemed like this place was hopin' in the 90's and slowly faded past its prime. We wanted an onsite onsen and the only other hotel that were considering was nearly double the price, so we opted for this one.
Review 2:Location was great! Right in the center of town. Public onsen was nice - but felt like walking through a maze to get to it!
Review 3:In room bathroom was a little old and ugly, but this was not a real problem, as you must bathe before onsen, so we didnt use the in room bathroom. (Just have more onsen)
Review 4:Private Onsen was fantastic, staff were lovely.
Review 5:Wi-fi signal is a little weak, in particular around the edges of the hotel.
Review 6:The staff were extremely friendly and they simply could not do enough to make your stay better
Review 7:While Unzen is very small, the hotel is located very close to the "jigoku"-onsen, the places main attraction. We had a nice Japanese style room with our own yukata as it is typical for such hotels. The hotel's own onsen is also quite big and very relaxing.
Review 8:Stinky in the bathroom inside my room; (Seems no ventilation unless you open the windows, but then it will lead to security concerns) Stuffy and weird smell at the room. (Again, better if you open the windows for ventilation, but you have to keep an eye on what's happening outside. For sure cannot do that while sleeping.)
Review 9:Very good location and helpful staff; Good view at the balcony at the top floor; Japanese atmosphere; Large public bath.
Review 10:The hotel as well as the room were big, comfortable and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food was excellent! We also really appreciated to be able to book a private onsen for 1 hour.
Review 11:The wifi in the room need a boosts.
Review 12:Basically everything except the location (but what do you expect when you are on a mountain) The staff is the best and always try their very best to answer your enquiry. This review is after staying at other hotel in japan.
Review 13:Nothing whatsoever
Review 14:From the moment we arrived, every staff member we came across did their very best to make us feel comfortable and at home - despite our almost complete lack of Japanese language skills....a smile goes a long way here! The bath areas were fantastic, the dinners were delicious and we had the best nights sleep! Unzen and the surrounding countryside is glorious - we'll be back!
Review 15:The place is a little run down and expensive for what it is. Ok for an overnight stop.
Review 16:Great location for visiting unzen and the Shimambara peninsula. Ability to use a private onzen, very good food.
Review 17:Its slighly old fashion and you can hear other guests talking in the corridor.
Review 18:Truely loved the old fashion Japanese style hotel with private hotspring which you can charter for just 1000yen per hour. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The dinner was amazing, it was art and very delicious!
Review 19:The price was a lot little high but affordable considering the amenities. WiFi was only available in the lobby.
Review 20:The facilities were very nice. The food was delicious. The staff wad helpful and spoke English well.
Review 21:Hotel equipment and general feeling are more from the 1960s than uptodate but this is part of this special experience. Staff speaks limited English, but is not short on courtesy.
Review 22:Charming old style hotel with large rooms and a beautiful onsen. Meals are kaiseki cuisine: excellent flavors, careful presentation and exciting variety. Dinner alone is worth the trip to Unzen!
Review 23:no
Review 24:It's a old traditional Japanese Hotel but the facilities are very clean. Tatami bed is comfortable with warm blanket. Also like the natural hot spring. Hotel staff speak English and when were stuck at Unzen due to heavy snow, they were very helpful in calling our next hotel and making sure we are safe to drive down the mountain. Thanks to the lady Manager.
Review 25:Warm reception. Very friendly staff, absolutely helpful. Nice room in Japanese style. Fantastic breakfast and diner. Especially visiting the Onsen at the hotel it's a relaxing experience. Absolutly recommendable. We stayed 18 days in this hotel and every day was very nice.

Review 50:no.
Review 51:spacious room. the food, both dinner and breakfast, is great.
Review 52:Food was average.
Review 53:It is a bit old hotel, but generally kept clean. Japanese style rooms with tatami. The public bath is really great, food was very good too. Price is always more expensive at these onsen towns. But it is worth to stay at Unzen, with fresh clean air, the smoking spas. Nice walks in the mountains. Good wifi connection.
Review 54:Close to the Bus Station and the Jigoku. Nice onsen and nice rooms. The japanese dinner and the japanese breakfast are great and very delicious! We were the only western tourists and also rather young compared to the others. But it was a great experience! Good value for the price!
Review 55:It is the oldest hotel in the area and has a lot of history. However all facility are up to date and the onsen was very comfortable. Staff have been very helpful to us recommending us for tours etc.
Review 56:The staff was so helpful and professional. They had good English and were able to help us arrange local transportation to Nita Pass. The onsite onsen is amazing - indoor and outdoor baths, sauna and a very refreshing cold bath! Breakfast and dinner featured delicious food including some local specialities. It's a very relaxing place and would have loved to stay a couple of nights.
Review 57:Centrally located in Unzen, really nice staff. You could also rent a private onsen for a reasonable price. This private area is nicely located in a Japanese style garden. A little bit old-fashioned, but tough charming!
Review 58:Nice Location to walk around Unzen, And Good Service&Meals, and We could enjoy hot spring sometime!
