Reviews for Don Tenorio Aparthotel
Review 1:Arrived and room had no kitchen facilities had to pay extra €48:00 for room with basic kitchen facilities location really did not highlight that it was a Surfing location Linen was a dull grey and not white like the 3 Star Hotel we stayed in Quateira
Review 2:Desu the receptionist was very pleasant and Helpful
Review 3:Breakfast could be improved upon.
Review 4:It met my need of somewhere to use as a base for a week. Several restaurants and a Supermarket within easy walking distance.
Review 5:It's an old an dated looking building-but better inside, and the room we stayed in had been revamped, new bathroom, and was very clean.
Review 6:It was very clean, great value for money, with breakfast inc,
Review 7:Big room Swimming pool (have no time to try it actually) Breakfast Bathroom We just spend a night here, but place definitely not for backpackers, which probably makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. But it was good to try rich people live taste :) just kidding
Review 8:We stayed only one night at this Hotel. We got a Suite with a balcony which was very big and clean. Also the breakfast was good (jam, breads, fruits, coffee, tea, muesli, ...). WLAN wasn't really fast.
Review 9:Tap water was salty, not for drinking, not really for taking a shower. Rooms were dark, bulbs were of low energy. Pool is closed already after 7 pm. Breakfast mostly out of sweet functional food.
Review 10:Staff was rather friendly, what is not often in Portugal. A food shop just near by. A pool in the hotel.
Review 11:The attitude of the proprietor at breakfast time was appalling. At 10am sharp, every day, he removed the food and turned off the coffee machine. I witnessed a guest looking for a coffee a couple of minutes after 10 and he told her no. Hospitality sector! The bar as advertised on the web-site was closed. The facilities/utensils in the kitchen area in the room were sparce. It appears that the policy is to tick all the boxes to ensure a rating, but it stops there. Not a hospitable type of place. When we arrived the fridge was turned off, presumably to save on the cost of electricity. Noise a few nights by other guests was not great.
Review 12:Location was good. Pool area good. Hygiene very good - excellent daily cleaning. Front desk staff very good.
Review 13:i cannot support the bad reviews about this hotel. i really really liked my stay. the room was cozy and with a nice terrace.the towels had good quality. the best was the pool! very clean and the surrounding so beautiful. palm trees, flower bushes and comfortable sun chairs. it was so relaxing!
Review 14:Don Tenorio has surely had a glorious past, but it would definitely need a restyling now. Room no. 304 should be completely restructured, starting from the bathroom. Also, be prepared to have very noisy neighbours, and to weak up in the middle of the night from time to time. Finally, the breakfast is terrible, and it wouldn't take much to improve it.
Review 15:The staff is always very nice and brilliant!
Review 16:It was very expensive. As expensive as 5 star hotel but low quality asan old motel. Owners were very rude and neither helpful nor friendly atall. Tv was very old and channels weren't properly synchronized.Breakfast had very low quality. Neither Portuguese specials nor freshfood and they label "juice" when it's just colored water.Kitchen was old electric and it last ages to boil water. Low signal Wi-Fi everywhere. Situation is quite bad, far from the beach. They havelots of strict "rules" nobody can understand. Like"don't take the towels to the swimming pool" "don't use cellphone at breakfast time" and so on. It'sruled by old and rude people.
Review 17:Unfortunately to many sign with don't do this and don't do that everywhere.
Review 18:Our room had a nice terrace. The kitchen, this is an "aparthotel", was functional.
Review 19:Dark in the room, not enought equipment in the kitchen, towels are grey and smelling chlorine, towels are not aloud to take to the swimming pool. Tv is from 80th . AND A LOT OF CHLORINE SMELLING
Review 20:Swimming pool, rooms are big
Review 21:Really enjoyed our stay. The only criticism was the quality of the towels; they were thin, stained and well past their sell by date.
Review 22:Nice and easy to find; super pool; great staff especially the receptionist, Decio, who was more than helpful with lots of advice about where to visit, restaurants etc.
Review 23:Breakfast was the same every day.
Review 24:The hotel is very nice with large swimming pool. The apartments are big and cosy. People at the reception very helpful. Perfect place for surfing lessons. Sagres is very quite and not full of tourists. Nice for 2-3 days.
Review 25:Wifi not working at all. Cold rooms (but with an eletric heater at disposal). Not all the members of the staff were English speaking (English, not Italian). We asked for a double bed and we had two single beds.
Review 26:Large rooms and the possibility of cooking your own meal, if desired. The swimming pool outside (not used because of the weather).
Review 27:Nothing.
Review 28:The staff were excelent, young man with perfect english was very helpful. Nice pool area and good selfcatering facilities. Big rooms. Nice beaches near by, i would say you need a car to get the best from it.
Review 29:The only problem was the breakfast - no fresh vegetables or fruits, but this is a problem in most hotels in Portugal. I run on a very strict diet so for me this was a little problem, but it doesn't put shade on overall rate of the hotel - it was great anyway.
Review 30:The rooms were spacious, the bathroom very clean, nicely furnished and all white - like Sagres itself. Good parking facility for travellers with car.
Review 31:One person of the staff is very rude and even the other people working there say it. Breakfast is from 8 to 10, we arrive there at 10 o'clock and this person starts complaining (normally nobody counts the minute) and says that the coffee machine authomatically stops at 10, and anyway he gives us 2 coffees. Then we sit down and we see a paper saying that in the breakfast room you are not allowed to use phones or computers (?!). Another person of the staff comes and asks if he could get our cups after 5 minutes that we were there so we decide to leave and eat our toast outside, to let them clean the table since they looked so nervous about us being there. Well, my boyfriend is leaving the room with the toast in his hands and the rude staff member comes and grabs it from his hands, and start shouting that we cannot take food out from the hall and shows us a ridicolous paper with his rules written down. I explain him why we were leaving with the toast and tells him that I have never been treated like that in whole my life, and I travel very often. Another staff member tells us that he is crazy making sure that the guy cannot hear him. When we leave he is at the reception and doesn't even say goodbye. Anyway the hotel is very untidy and sad. Don't go there!
Review 32:ghostly place. we both saw nightmares while sleeping. dirty towels. breakfast was ok, but staff was watching us carefully while we were eating :D
Review 33:nice balcony in 3th floor
Review 34:The hotel has a bit of an old look, but inside it looks okay.
Review 35:The rooms are very spacious and are equipped with everything that is necessary for your vacation. A good breakfast and also the staff is very helpful. The price quality is excellent!
Review 36:Our room was dirty on arrival and poorly equipped for self catering, the breakfast staff were rude and the wifi did not function unless seated next to the reception desk.
Review 37:The outside pools and tables were very good.
Review 38:The beds and pilows were really bad ! The breackfast was poor ! And the owner Was really unpolite whit us.
Review 39:The front desck guys were really polite and always realdy to please.
Review 40:The staff was great, very helpful and very friendly. The pool was very nice and clean. We had an amazing room with own terrace and view on to the pool. Well located!!
Review 41:The place was so hard to find ! You drive down the main street and there is a sign for it... That leads into the middle of no where. We eventually got out of the car, went through an off road trail, and found It by foot.
Review 42:The dude at the front desk was outstanding . Full of ideas and suggestions and answered all of our questions.
Review 43:Wifi was not good in the room. And in the breakfast room where the connection is good, they sent me away because they wanted to clean. Without the wifi problems it would have been a fantastic experience.
Review 44:One of the receptionists (unfortunately I don't know his name) was amazing. Can't imagine a better and friendlier receptionist. He could work in a 5 star luxury hotel!
Review 45:Our first room was extremely noisy, I could hear a whole conversation of my neighbour litteraly. We went to the reception, but they could/would not help us. We would have to wait for the manager the next day. So after listening to all my neighbours the whole night (shower, toilet, talking, people on the hall), we spoke to the manager the next day. Although he knew we had a complaint and wanted to talk to him, he first was 15 min busy with his car, than went to the breakfastroom. After this the receptionist told him -again- we wanted to talk to him. I stood a few meters away from him, but he walked away and did some administration. When we tried to talk he was pretty agressive and not understanding at all. After he found out we had been filming the whole conversation he was suddenly kind and offered us a better room. This room had an extra bedroom and was one floor higher. Here I did not hear noises of neighbors, we had a good night rest. I just don't understand why it was so difficult to help us, since most hotel owners like to know if you have a complaint before you go to sleep, so they can offer you an other room. Both kitchens were minimal, no water boiler or coffee machine, no litter. Breakfast was poor and cookies tasted a few days old. Smallest tv I have ever seen, 90+ channels, but only 5 worked.
Review 46:Rooms were clean Rooms were spacious
Review 47:The local buses were few and we had to get 2 buses to visit anywhere. A car requirement is a must! The beds need to be upgraded and also the cooking facilities. There was no electric kettle!
Review 48:The staff were very friendly and helpful with any queries we had about the hotel/area/dining places to go to. It was very quiet and relaxing.
Review 49:-Breakfast was basic and not fresh with limited options. -Breakfaststaff was rude and unfriendly. -We ordered a double bed and receivedtwo single beds with really old bed linen. -Horrible Wi-Fi connection.-The kitchen was poorly equipped with no dish soap and very oldequipment. -8 inch T.V. that sat on the floor. -No where to hang theshower head for a proper shower -The owner of the hotel is grumpy andnever smiled and made our stay very uncomfortable -The place is tiredand stuck in time -The price may be attractive but the atmosphere andfacilities are not worth it
Review 50:-We liked how they managed to rate their hotel 3 starts when in realityit should be rated 1 star...funny joke -The pool area is quite nicehowever the pool hours are limited
Review 51:Found someones hairs in bed. Bad sound insulation- woke up some times at night because of baby crying next room. Room is big and not cozy. Pool was empty. Poor wifi.
Review 52:Luke warm showers Uncomfortable bed Short bed Apartments with full kitchens had no detergent or dishwashing cloth TV remote control didnt work Fridge didnt work Pool was half empty in October
Review 53:Reasonably close to town and transport, though its a small town and it was one of the furthest out. Little balcony to sit on overlooking pool and parts of town Nice size room(apartment)
Review 54:leaving
Review 55:The Don Tenorio has an excellent central location in Sagres, the staff at reception were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable and made our stay at this budget hotel worth far more than it's cost. It's fair to say the place is somewhat dated, but is kept spotless and despite it's size maintains a family run atmosphere.
Review 56:cold water, we had to wait a lot so it becomes at least warm, it wasn't hot entirely
Review 57:we had a special offer so it was a great value for money. Enormous room, breakfast included
Review 58:Mattresses a bit thin and uncomfortable
Review 59:Very friendly and helpful reception staff Good choise of food for a continental breakfast Room cleaned every day
Review 60:Kitchen could do with some more things and perhaps some new towels and linen would be good but pretty minor things,
Review 61:Staff were lovely and the apartment spacious - lovely pool. location was fine.
Review 62:Very rude owner who took exception to taking a pear from the breakfast service table. The same owner who came out of the kitchen with a mouth full of food and proceeded to cough over the breakfasts for the guests. He then told me that "all good hotels around the world don't allow you to take food from the breakfast". It was a pear. A PEAR. And I didn't see the sign. I apologised only to have the fruit snatched out of my hand. I would suggest that putting yourself in the "good hotel" bracket would mean getting some manners, a new hotel and possibly a notion off hospitality in general. But then what do you expect for €32 a night? Too much by the looks of things.
Review 63:Not much. Nothing. Nothing at all. Maybe the pillows were ok.
Review 64:nice witty helpful and friendly staff, especially receptionist Carla and Ducio. large room. good swimingpool. Modest but good rekfast. good price. shop (supermarket) next to the hotel.
Review 65:We had a great time at the aparthotel. The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly. We all loved Sagres! The location was good, bud as Sagres is really small that's not so difficult I guess. There's a supermarket at only 50m. Too bad there weren't many coocking facilites..
Review 66:No snack bar by pool for drinks but no problem as InterMarche is next door
Review 67:InterMarche is next door so great for buying your own beers and snacks. As self catering fridge etc available. Excellent Indian just down the road a 3 minute walk.
Review 68:The bed had a plastic mattress protector on it that I had to remove as it was so uncomfortable and noisy every time I rolled over
Review 69:Friendliest staff especially at reception they were warm and smiling on every encounter Our room was huge. Just booked a basic standard room and got a huge one bedroom apartment with a beautiful large terrace overlooking the pool!
Review 70:We liked everything about this hotel
Review 71:Made to feel so welcome every time we entered the hotel. Our apartment was perfect in every way the cleanliness could not be bettered. We will certainly recommend Don Tenorio and hope to visit again soon. We were so impressed with the perfect English speaking staff which included the lovely cleaning ladies.
Review 72:Not too big of a problem, but we arrived before our room was ready, so we decided to wait by the pool, but the staff wouldn't give us any towels before our room was ready. Also some of the power outlets in the kitchen didn't work so we had to choose between using the fridge or the cooking plate (not that we wanted to cook, but still). The bathroom was tiny and the shower curtain came as soon as you even looked at it.
Review 73:Nice pool, a little cold due to the wind and the lack of windscreens. Descent rooms, with small balcony. Good beds, good breakfast.
Review 74:The hotel hasn't really made the jump into the 2st century. To be frank, I found it tatty and overpriced in terms of quality. The staff do there best in the face of adversity but it is with the owner that my greatest gripe lies. The gentleman, whose name I do not know, runs the place like a Basil Fawlty without the funny part. He shout obscenties to and about his staff and is generally unlikable. Probably due to monetarial contraints, the hotel seems to have simply stopped in time, with lots of building half done. Genertally speaking breakfast is poor to middling continental fare; the rooms have insect problems, the electric hobs in the kitcvhen are from the 80s and cut off automatically at a certain temperature, so cooking is a nightmare; the towels are changed every 2 days (whether you like it or not). And all in all the atmosphere is negatively charged, especially at breakfast with ne'er a smile to be seen from anyone. It is the sort of place you don't really feel comfortable relaxing in. The only exception being the pool as I have already mentioned. Since it is the owner who seems to be at fault, I cannot really give any advice on how to remedy the situation. Sorry, but this one is a dud.
Review 75:Don Tenorio is well placed between many excellent beaches and less touristy/noisy typical Algarve holiday spots. It has large rooms and a marvellously clean, large pool with a nice garden surrounding it. In fact, the pool is the hotel's ex libris and is curiously poorly frequented, so you are guaranteed a relaxing pool experience. It also has a kiddie pool adjoining which is great if you arev travelling with small children. It is right next door to a supermarket (intermarché) which has cutprice petrol, and there are restaurants and shops all within walking distance.
Review 76:The worst personal i ever saw in hotels in all world. Esspecially the young guy. Booking.com, you made big mistake making deal with Don Tenorio. Do not go to this tricky hotel, people, there are many others.
Review 77:Nothing. Absolut.
Review 78:The guy who over saw breakfast in the mornings what a miserable man.
Review 79:It was cheap and cheerful, especially reception staff. Needs a bit updating in rooms but generally was ok.
Review 80:Charged for every local call .25 euro per 15 seconds, no a/c, loudhallways, horrible internet, horrible parking, over priced breakfast.
Review 81:Very friendly staff
Review 82:All the staff were polite, welcoming and very helpful with regard to the room, queries about breakfast but also in advising where to dine in Sagres. On arrival we had been placed in the wrong room, as we had booked a room with a kitchette for our stay, when we pointed this out the staff apologised and offered to move us within 24 hours. This was actioned - needless to say we were lucky enough to experience 2 very nice rooms. Had we not planned to self cater at the appt a couple of nights during our stay we would have been more than happy to stay in the original room. The apartments were kept very clean and tidy. The linen was changed 3 times per week, beds were made and a clean around was done every day. The location - Whilst Don Tonorio is a short distance away form the centre, it is only a 10 minute walk, this allowed for a very peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Review 83:The staff was a bit rude, not very flexible and it seems like they are all scared about the owner. The breakfast appalling, very cheap cereals and only green apples, not too much choice! For 7€ I was expecting a bit more.
Review 84:The location is good 10-15 minutes from the beach. The apartment was ok although our window was facing the internal corridor with people walking passed so couldn't open it! The swimming pool is nice although you can't access it after 9!
Review 85:The flats and rooms really need some urgent renovation. The beds/ matresses are not comfortable. It is a bit noisy in the morning. The Wi Fi quality is bad. The fact that you can't use the outdoor area after 19h is not nice.
Review 86:The staff is very friendly and helpful. The outdoor area and pool are really nice. The flats are spacious.
Review 87:Much too expensive (164 Euros for one night) for the quality of thesevery basic accommodations. The area around the hotel seems to be underconstruction - so, not very attractive. &Quot;Charming" is a not aword I would use to describe this hotel.
Review 88:The location within Sagres is fine (assuming you have a car). Breakfastwas simple but good - we ate outdoors by the pool, which was nice.
Review 89:cold wind that never stopped blowing!
Review 90:very friendly and helpful staff. Good location for walking to Cape St Vincent. Could eat breakfast outside on sheltered patio.
Review 91:There was a terrible smell when we entered the room, we tried to open the doors and windows but it stayed for all the time (it was the canal system). It wasn't possible to drink the water. The bed was rather for 1 person, small.Breakfast very poor.We were pleased to leave the hotel after 1 night.
Review 92:Grey colour of towels should be changed either to pure white or perhaps blue or green to reflect "sea theme".
Review 93:I liked the variety of food at breakfast, home made cakes and delicious "bow" pastry.
Review 94:The towels were not in very good conditions (not considered white towels anymore). It would be nice to have the breakfast until 11 am, given that people are on vacations and want to sleep more in the morning, and since there is any other meal served after that (lunch).
Review 95:Staff were very nice.
Review 96:Location is not bad but there's better in Sagres
Review 97:Good value for money. Don't expect anything luxurious or trendy. Quiet and friendly staff. Clean.
Review 98:wifi did not operate well noisy neighbours trough whole night very poor kitchen facilities very old bed blankets
Review 99:swimming pool very nice and helpful staff
Review 100:The hotel was managed with an unfortunate lack of generosity and an over-abundance of rules. Towels were changed every three days, sheets once a week, the 'orange' beverage at breakfast was of the low quality fruit punch variety, etc.. Still, the overall Sagres experience was superb.
Review 101:One of the staff persons-Decio Norte-made the interactions with the hotel staff a real pleasure. Our room was spacious as was the balcony.
Review 102:The hotel is very comfortable. You can see nice views from your balcony. The personal of the hotel is nice and very helpful. To the coast of the Ocean you can walk and it can take you about 15-20 min, or you can drive it takes you 3-5 minutes.
Review 103:Although the WiFi signal was good everywhere, it only worked in the reception area, something that most likely was about to be fixed soon.
Review 104:Very good, huge rooms with kitchen and living room, nothing to complain.
Review 105:wifi with ver low signal, meaning not able to ocnnect at all, not very polite greeting and thorugh out our stay.
Review 106:Very nice spacious apartment, has view to the swimming pool. great location 5 min from the city centre
Review 107:- dirty swimming pool (a lot of dead incests); - no employees by the swimming pool to ask for a sun-chair, no towels by the pool; - very poor breakfast (even no real coffee - just NESCAFE); - extremely poor soundproof in the room - can here everything from the corridor like it's in your room
Review 108:- Room was spacious and had a balcony - Some employees were friendly and smily
Review 109:No remote control for TV and no air condition. Sound insulation was poor.
Review 110:Outside pool was not cleaned
Review 111:Very frend ly and helpful staff
Review 112:Kitchen not well equipped
Review 113:Quiet, comfortable
Review 114:Convieniant location. Very close to the grocerystore and to the busstop.
Review 115:Beds like in hospital.
Review 116:Property is a bit tired.
Review 117:Nice location and value place for sure.
Review 118:very friendly and helpfull staff
Review 119:The staff were incredibly friendly, the location was really convenient and the apartment a great size.
Review 120:A little noisy in the evening, until everybody goes to bed, some earplugs might be useful.
Review 121:Comfy, large double bed.
Review 122:The owner of the hotel was very rude
Review 123:Personel was very helpfull.
Review 124:Good clean hotel for overnight before drivig further
Review 125:Beds are way too small and hard Location a bit out of the way
Review 126:Good size room, nice pool, breakfast pk for the price
Review 127:R
Review 128:Grossery store is in just 10m what is really cool
Review 129:No warm water in the evening hours
The Fine Print
Please note that the Standard Double or Twin Room cannot accommodate extra beds.
