Reviews for Hotel Geiranger
Review 1:Geiranger is a very small place. Nothing specifically wrong with the hotel but it costs too much comparing to other places. I recommend not to stay in Geiranger center.
Review 2:It is in a perfect spot looking to the fjord.
Review 3:No draft beer available so bottled variety was even more expensive!
Review 4:Superb elevated views across the Fiord, providing you have a room on the right side of the hotel that is. Good parking which was free. Decent Breakfast.
Review 5:Nothing bad
Review 6:Great room with a balcony overlooking the fjord. Despite closing the next day they offered a good priced evening meal. Staff were excellent
Review 7:Found dirt under the table. Cleaning was not done properly. Building and furniture were run down, worn out. Restaurant only served buffet food although ala carte menu was posted everywhere in the hotel including the room menu.
Review 8:Location next to the shore.
Review 9:There was not always hot water for shower but that was rather a minor inconvenience. Wifi speed was very fast but I guess this is because it'a a remote area so it's OK.
Review 10:The location is great, very nice view to the fjord if you choose a room with view. The breakfast (included) was very nice too.
Review 11:This is a property well beyond its prime, showing neglect and apathy everywhere. Carpets are horribly stained throughout. Bathtub drain flooded the bathroom floor. Tried to call front desk, no dialing instructions. Ran to the front desk to get more towels to address the flooding, was told no housekeeping staff working, it was before 6 p.m.! Changed rooms, was comped dinner buffet, food was reminiscent of a low tier cruise ship. Overall, a disappointment!
Review 12:The location was fine
Review 13:Decor of room could do with a refresh. Walls thin so noise from corridor noticeable. Draughty window/door.
Review 14:Excellent view of fjord. Buffet dinner was fabulous, so much choice & great quality. Breakfast buffet very good.
Review 15:Dinner at the hotel was very basic. Happy to have it for a night but not 2 nights in row.
Review 16:Clean room with nice breakfast. You could make a lunch sandwich to go for 17kr!!
Review 17:Buffet dinner warm not warm Took at least 5 minutes for the water to warm up Hardly any free power plugs to charge up my devices. Hotel could use some serious updating.
Review 18:Staff and specifically woman at reception was fantastic. Helped me with planning, information and made me feel very welcome. Views on Geirangerfjord are insane!
Review 19:It was off season, so the entrance door from the parking was closed and I had to walk around the building to enter with my luggage.
Review 20:Beautiful view of fjord from my room. Very comfortable room for a great price. Within walking distance to everything. Wonderful breakfast was included in the price.
Review 21:The location of the property is unique, just in front of the Geiranger Quay. But the hotel has two buildings, and one blocks the view from the other. Our room had no view to the beautiful landscape. Most don´t, it seems.
Review 22:Breakfast was very varied and good Staff nice and polite but not super helpful.
Review 23:I do enjoy having a second pillow and that would nice. Our bathroom shower was difficult to manage as we flooded the bathroom a few times until we figured it out. (Well almost floodwaters) As senior citizens we do need a bit more light than we had. We enjoy reading more tha watching TV. All said and done this was a great value for the price.
Review 24:We loved the Bistro restaurant. It was delicious and the staff was very personable. The personal at the front seat were very cordial. We really enjoyed our three day stay.
Review 25:Without a street address, my GPS could not find the hotel. The hotel was also not listed in my Garmin GPS.
Review 26:Perfect location. Easy access to all the attractions and local venues.
Review 27:Hotel is very good but very expensive. This is not value for money but you haven't a lot of other options in Geiranger
Review 28:Fantastic location. Breakfast was good
Review 29:Fantastic location and wonderful views of fjord from our room although some rooms do not have this view. The walk up the waterfall from nearby should not be missed. Lovely breakfast and evening buffet. Gluten free diet well catered for.
Review 30:It is a bit expensive.
Review 31:Location was perfect if you are using public transport. It is right in town center, very easy for going on hiking trails, eating out and catching the tour bus to Dalsnibba. Breakfast was decent but can get crowded so go early. Room was comfortable. Definitely book a room with fjord view on top floors. Nice to see big cruise ships and tourists come and go.
Review 32:The rooms and common areas are very dated - it seems the hotel was decorated back in the 80s and never renovated. The carpet in the hallways smelled of mold. We paid a lot for the fjord view room but due to the hotel location, it's a very industrial view, with the pier and parking lot. Not worth the money.
Review 33:It's a nice enough location, walking distance from the port where all ships unload visitors.
Review 34:The bathroom was rather tired, but it was clean, it worked OK, and did not spoil our stay. This hotel (like others in Geiranger) was quite expensive, but the tourist season is short, so they have to make their money while they can.
Review 35:Location is just perfect, and it was worth paying the extra for a fjord view, even though this made our one-night stay a 'special treat'. The staff were all very friendly, and we were pleased we had chosen this hotel.
Review 36:Geiranger gets over run with cruise tourists during the day..
Review 37:Make sure you book a fjord view room, the view is spectacular. Bistro on the groundfloor was excellent. Right on the waterfront so easy to get around. Comfortable bed. Good comprehensive buffet breakfast. Reception friendly, helpful and informative.
Review 38:- small bathroom - tiny and flat pillows - one elevator for many rooms
Review 39:- the view from our balcony - super breakfast - friendly staff - nice dinner - ferry at 100 meter
Review 40:Stayed two nights. Second day we placed "Please clean the room" card on the door knob and went out for several hours, but the room was not taken care of. The room maid might have thought it was "Do not disturb" sign.
Review 41:Close to ferry terminal. We got a room on the 10th floor. (Fjord view) The view was superb and the room was spacious. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 42:The only thing that I thought about at the time was that should I have stayed in the hotel at all. The cottages might have provided me with a different experience.... or maybe not.
Review 43:The place had a fantastic view, could not get better than this. Staff were very helpful. The place is a bit old but it has character!!
Review 44:Each morning the waitress came by our table to ensure we were out on time. We understood we had to be IN the restaurant by 10:00 and then could finish our breakfast in a leisurely manner.
Review 45:the location was superb, very handy for accessing the village. We loved the balcony.
Review 46:We paid cash as we checked in and the day of checking out the receptionist said it was not payed I quote<I cannot see in the system your payment but , if you say so sir it is ok besides we have your credit's card number. -The first day we checked in late and the restaurant of the hotel was the only choice that time to have a meal but that day it was only buffet available ,fixed price for each person nearly 50 euros per person for a terrible buffet choice. -Extremely expensive for the amenities.
Review 47:Very good location
Review 48:We like the close proximity to the Fjorde. We could park the car and walk to the cruise terminal. We had a waterview room and waking to see a cruise ship in the morning was truly amazing. Buffet meals were excellent.
Review 49:Price a bit high for quality of the room , and as out of season bistro bar closed and only choice for dinner was the Buffet at 325 NOK each and in looking at the choices decided to go hungry.
Review 50:Great location and view (paid for it though). Clean and comfortable room. Free parking and breakfast was the usual choice. Ferry port just a stones throw away.
Review 51:Although the evening buffet was excellent the food was not quite as hot as it could have been but the variety and quality made up for that.
Review 52:Overlooking the Fjord this hotel is on an excellent position if a little close to the harbour. The hotel is quite old but the room was comfortable and the restaurant was very good. Staff were very friendly and made our stay enjoyable.
Review 53:room was drab; carpets stained. Saturday night party in dinning hall went on late into the night creating high noise level making sleep impossible.
Review 54:location was great
Review 55:Only a luxury problem but no BACON at breakfast...
Review 56:Nice room, good size, clean and tidy.. Good breakfast and nice staff! The hotel is old and could have a upgrade some time in the future..
Review 57:our room was located under bar which resulted sleepless night due to loud music played till 2 am; TV not located in front of bed; although front facing rooms were vacant we received room overlooking parking
Review 58:location, heated floor in the bathroom, seating area with sofa bed,
Review 59:May be a little expensive. but it' s certainly worth it.
Review 60:Very good staff, nice ,kind and helpful. Delicious breakfast. Perfect location to see the whole fjord.
Review 61:Rooms are dated and need a serious updating. Dinner buffet full of group of tourists.
Review 62:Best location in Geiranger. Views from the Fjord rooms is amazing.
Review 63:Just about everything ... Imagine the worst ski lodge you have ever stayed at and then your half way there as to how bad this hotel was. Noisy, smelling of old socks, very bad quality bathroom, a toilet seat from a public lavatory in your worst railway station ... I hop you are getting the picture.
