Reviews for Lodge Matsuya

Review 1:Shared bathrooms and toilets are quite unusual but rather common for this kind of bb in Japan.

Review 2:Friendly staff, big rooms, lovely onsen and excellent value for money.

Review 3:Huge breakfast (fruit, cereal, bacon, eggs, toast, juice, tea/coffee). Amazing Japanese bath that the owner allowed me to use even after I'd checked out. I was also able to buy a ski lift pass from the lodge at a discounted rate & picked up a voucher for 10% discount on ski rental.

Review 4:For some reason they send all takkyuubin at 15:00 so if on a weekend trip and you spend a full day in the slopes on Sunday any gear or luggage you send won't make it back to Tokyo until Tuesday.

Review 5:Great location, onsen right across the street and a short climb to the ski slopes. Nice and clean board/ski room. Choice between Japanese and "western" breakfast, both of them good. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 6:Quite a big uphill walk up to the start of the lifts / ticketing area/ etc. We used the rental car to transfer up each day after we found out on the 1st day. :)

Review 7:Awesome Onsen (natural spring hot bath) within the lodge - just the thing for after skiing. Close to the village facilities - bars, restaurants, other onsens, ski shops and groceries etc. Basic breakfast - good enough.

Review 8:About a 300 m walk to the ski terminal, a gradual uphill climb .

Review 9:Our stay was during the annual fire festival so finding a restaurant for dinner was difficult. We opted for dining at the lodge on 2 nights and were delighted by the standard and value of the traditional Japanese food. Breakfast was equally as good. We had a Western style room twin beds and private bathroom, small but suited our needs. Located close to centre of town

Review 10:Good location, near the main street of Nozawa Onsen, and about 7 min walk to the gondola. The staff are very friendly. The room is very clean and with toilet. I will stay here again if back to Nozawa Onsen.

Review 11:Good location,well priced,clean. Small room,but expectedFriendly staff.

Review 12:Very friendly owner, large rooms, nice breakfast

Review 13:Location Staff Onsen

Review 14:There ïƾ no private shower.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:View to mountains Spaciousness of room Hot water canister to make tea and coffee

Review 17:So close to walk to the small shops and restaurants. In the hub of this small village. Short walk to the slopes. Owners were helpful.

Review 18:Room was quite small. There wasn't really any room to put our smallcarry on luggage cases (let alone a large suitcase). We had to put onein the aisle from the front door and another under the desk. It's not worth getting the room with the toilet. This room was next to the communal toilets so we could hear every time someone flushed. Also there was no sink in the room so we had to use the communal sinks for brushing our teeth and washing our face etc.

Review 19:Owner was very friendly and greeted us at the door. They could alsospeak English. We were able to leave our luggage with them while we wentout. On arrival we were given maps of the area and discount vouchers forthe local ski rental shop. They also helped us to check the bus timesfor going back to the station. Great service.

Review 20:Nothing, all was great

Review 21:Very friendly & helpful (get your lift tickets from receptionit's cheaper than tkt office), perfect location and verycomfortable.

Review 22:shared toilet is a bit inconvenient. But this is known before I make the reservation.

Review 23:Good location. It is not far from the bus stops. 7 min walk to the gondola / lifts (but it's uphill walk...). Friendly staffs.

Review 24:If you think you are going to be sored after a day skiing then dont pick the japanesse room, other than that everything was perfect

Review 25:It was great i liked everything, the owners are so nice and helpfull, also the breakfast was great

Review 26:It was expensive for what you get. it is more similar to a hostel than a hotel with shared showers (showers were not private, but there is an onsen) and bathrooms. We had a private toilet, but it was in a tiny cupboard. The decor is tired. Overall not bad, just not what we were expecting based on the price.

Review 27:The staff was friendly and location very convient for the town and ski slopes.

Review 28:Friendly staff, clean, met all expectations. Easy walking to ski field and gondola.

Review 29:The pillows were really hard and having to share showers.

Review 30:Friendly staff and good location.

Review 31:Owners are very friendly and accommodating, great location so close to the ski slopes. I had a wonderful time.

Review 32:Absolutely lovely people running the place. Made us feel so welcome. I will definitely be back! Great location a short walk to the gondola.

Review 33:Location, room and value

Review 34:Nothing amazing but for the price nothing to complain about.

Review 35:Cheap and had everything you need.

Review 36:Nothing.

Review 37:Owners were kind and location was central.
