Reviews for Lodge Hahnenkamm
Review 1:Distance to town might be an issue for those who lack the extra energy after a long day of skiing.
Review 2:The family is super friendly, informative, and accommodating. They really try to make your stay very comfortable and make you feel welcome. :) Authentic Ski Lodge experience.
Review 3:You can get to town on the "Yu Road" (moving travelator) as long as you leave before 5:10pm, But it is a long walk home.
Review 4:Location was perfect. NaokoSan and family and staff could not do enough for us. The meals were great. Great views. True ski in ski out.
Review 5:We spend four exelent days at some very nice and smiling hosts. The food was japanese style and very tasty and delious. Skis on, down to the gondola. Ski down to the lodge in the afternoon. 20 minute walk to the town, a beautiful walk in snowy scenery.
Review 6:A sizeable walk to town in the evening after a hard days skiing, 20 minutes down and 40 minutes back
Review 7:Great to start the day with Included breakfast and the Japanese Dinners that we had in the evening were excellent
Review 8:long walk into town
Review 9:Bed was too hard, pillow was a bag of rice.
Review 10:Felt at home, comfortable like at a camp.
Review 11:A long way back from the town at night
Review 12:Wonderful location for skiing Very friendly family run lodge
Review 13:Right on the slopes, varied breakfast, friendly and helpful staff
Review 14:Friendly accommodating staff Ski in ski out location Breakfast was delicious
Review 15:No shower upstairs.
Review 16:None.
Review 17:Most helpful and friendly staff. Ski-in ski-out location. Excellent value for money. Place for people who came to ski or snowboard.
Review 18:Long walk down to village for dinner
Review 19:Thoroughly enjoyed this accomodation so close to ski slopes
Review 20:you have to share toilet, onsen/shower and washroom with others including the family. beds and pillows are very hard. Not cheap for the room you are getting, with only a few beds into it. We had 2 rooms with 2 kids (4 and 3) and an infant, but it would have fitted into 1 room, as this was a 3 beds room with an extra bed. Would have saved us a lot.
Review 21:The staff is brilliant, really trying to make you comfortable, although you do sometimes feel interfering into their family life. food is ok, not exceptional. location is beautiful, setting and house as well (especially for skiing in high season when the lifts are open) , but you do have to walk up the hill at night if you want to eat something in the town.
Review 22:The lack of accepting credit cards is a minor annoyance, but they arevery clear about this on booking. The only atm in Nozawa Onsen is at thePost Office and is not open on Sunday - be warned!
Review 23:Assuming you are at Nozawaonsen to ski or snowboard, the lodge is in theperfect place to maximise your snow experience. Yes this means it is abit of a walk to the town, but it's not as bad as some of the othercomments make out. Perhaps some people had other expectations but fromour perspective you can't beat the location and price. The staff areall friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were always interesting -sometimes kind of weird, but always made with love. As a bit of a foodsnob I was surprised that I didn't find this annoying, but there yougo. Nozawa Onsen is highly recommended - at least when we were there itwas not too "touristy" and the food in general was great. Wewould not hesitate to stay at Lodge Hahnenkamm (funny name for any ofyou that speak German like we do...) again.
Review 24:Doesn't take credit cards.
Review 25:Very friendly, homely and beautifully presented food in satisfying quantity.Ski in ski out is fantastic. Good ski room/drying room, warm boots every morning.9.2
Review 26:Quite basic rooms - small, no tv, western beds but Japanese pillowsSmall Japanese bath area and only open 4-10pm. Ok to share with one other family member but not enough to space to share with other guests Dinner has to be booked a day in advance and there is no menu choice. Alternative is to walk in to nozawa village (20 mins on Forrest track/ small road), half an hour back up hill
Review 27:Location on mountain was good - ski in/ ski out, close to ski rentaland ski schoolGood value for Japanese ski resort Free wifi Western style breakfast. although a bit hit and miss there was always bread, toast and rolls
Review 28:Location great for skiing access but is difficult if you want to access the main Nozawa village of an evening, a long walk through the snow. Room was very small for family of 4.
Review 29:Welcoming family run lodge with lovely meals. Good value for money
Review 30:Long walk (15min out/30 min) into town if you want to go out to eat or get supplies.
Review 31:Ideally, located on the slopes, ski in/out. Clean, shared bathroom and shower facilities. Run by a family who are very friendly and speak English. Good breakfast included with the option to buy lunch and dinner with a one day notice.
Review 32:Not a good place if you want to go into the village at nighttime, that is a long and cold walk in winter.
Review 33:Location is perfect: on the slope, ski to the doorstep of the lodge. We had 1m of snow in 4 days!!
Review 34:The lodge is ski in ski out and a little distance from the town. A ten minute walk to the town and thirty minutes back becasue its up the mountain a little bit
Review 35:A family run establishment who are extremely friendly. The lodge is ski in ski out with ski rentals on one side of the building and lift ticket purchases on the other, it gets no easier than this. Breakfast is great in the morning. Suggestion: if you have a lot of luggage take the taxi service that they suggest, not the trains. Hauling luggage through Tokyo Grand Central Station is not fun.
