Review 1：A couple of the female staff at reception were quite rude, gave little information and some of it was wrong. As well, it was the only hotel we stayed at in a month with no tea making facilities in the room, the airconditioning was turned off and we were told to open the balcony door if we wanted to get cool. As well, the balcony door would not lock when we arrived and it was only repaired under duress.

Review 4：All staff were so helpful and friendly. This was a surprise booking for my wife so I had asked for flowers in the room and they didn't disappoint! They even gave us a free upgrade on the room - very generous. Bar area was sumptuous, we didn't want to leave. We will return!

Review 28：Tea and coffee facilities in the room would be a bonus. Couldn't get access to the Sky Bar due to it being booked by non-resident parties. Feeling that residents are unable to enjoy this aspect of the hotel. The Sky Bar is a great aspect of the hotel and one of the reasons we booked again. Could do with some level of restriction to non-residents.

Review 35：There were 2 major problems with our room number 402. The air conditioning reduced the room temperature the first night to only 27 degrees centigrade (81 degrees fahrenheit). The next day the front desk reduced the minimum temperature to 12 degrees centigrade, but the lowest reading in the room was 24 degrees (75 fahrenheit). The second problem was a bad smell like a sewer. The front desk explained the corner rooms somehow get that smell from the lake. They suggested opening the door and window, but we said no because we didn't want mosquitoes in the room (mosquitoes are a huge problem in Stresa and other cities in Italy). Perhaps we got assigned a corner room because the booking.com rate was less than the hotel's direct rate (we've stayed at this hotel 4 previous times but booked direct).

Review 36：Well appointed hotel. Good pool at the edge of the lake. Very good breakfast. Beautiful view from the bar/restaurant at the top of the hotel.

Review 37：availability of free places, to sit, lounge or sun bath on Sky Bar very limited when many people. a Steward or Pool Man could easily solve this problem.

Seemed to have staff available but only one preparing drinks. Very poor considering it is not cheap to stay in this hotel. Has put us off staying there again

Review 56：We had stayed here several times before, but after an absence of seven years the hotel had improved in all categories, though it has gotten considerably more expensive. The room was very comfortable, with a quiet air conditioner that worked to perfection during a hot and muggy spell. Breakfast was great, both the "English" version (bacon, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, etc.) the Italian (sweets, cakes, tarts, etc.) and the German (muesli, cereal, etc.). My wife was especially fond of the excellent selection of fresh fruit. A great improvement was the addition of an exercise room which my wife used frequently.

Review 57：A group of us were in Stresa for a wedding. La Palma Hotel was well located, rooms were very good and well decorated. The hotel had an old world charm. Might seem a bit expensive but all the hotels in this area are quite pricey.

Review 60：My wife and I went to the restaurant for dinner and were ignored for over 20 minutes while waiters fussed over the small number of other occupied tables, so we walked out and had a lovely meal along the street at much cheaper price. Spoiled an otherwise pleasant stay.

Review 61：Hotel is located in the strip of the "grand" hotels at the heart of Stresa, conveniently close to shopping and ferry terminal for island tours. A bonus is the Sky Bar, although this is sometimes not fully available to resident guests because of functions, which doesn't seem appropriate. Hotel has modern air con and security, but traditional decor. Staff at reception and Sky Bar were very pleasant.

Review 71：Cannot really fault this hotel but if I had to I'd say that I'm not a fan of showers over baths; however it is a minor thing and the bathroom was lovely and clean.

Review 72：Loved the location, proximity to Isola Bella, the ferry terminals and the train station! The promenade along the lake was beautiful. Overall a short but very memorable stay. Thankyou, so very happy with our beautiful room right on the lake. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Particularly impressed with our welcome message on the LCD TV- a lovely touch. Review 90：This was our fifth time staying at the Hotel La Palma and we would really recommend it. We got a great room at the back of the hotel with a lovely balcony. We were very disappointed not to be able to enjoy the Jacuzzi, sunbeds and the fantastic roof top bar this time round (an aperitif or after dinner drink there is highly recommended) because of the weather, nor the lovely lake-side pool, but maybe next time. Breakfast is good with a wide choice and staff are very polite and attentive. We very much appreciated the free parking provided by the hotel. I highly recommend Hotel La Palma for a break in the lovely town of Stresa and surrounding area.

Review 94：Staff useless in Breakfast room, not a good experience. No system to meet, greet or explain the workings of Breakfast. It is possible to sit at a table and be ignored by all staff until you have to grab someone. They could get rid of them all and leave you to serve yourselves tea & coffee as you do everything else anyway. Swimming pool freezing.Sky bar staff try to rip you off by short changing you and hope you won't notice! Very poor show.

Roof bar a dream in nice weather but we watched a thunderstorm and lightening flashes over the lake and hills - fabulous.

Also, when we were at hotel, there was an older crowd there, but it may just have been the timing with a particular tour group.

Review 111：After a long drive up the A1 from Tuscany, I did not want to go out to dinner but I wish we had. This was the second most expensive dinner we had on Lake Maggiore and without any good reason, as much better food could be found in the town for much more reasonable prices. Breakfast was good quality but next time we will go out for dinner whatever the time or the weather!

Review 112：La Palma is one of five hotels along the lakeside and the only one which makes the best of its setting, from the 7th floor bar and horizon jacuzzi, the lakeside swimming pool and the restaurant leading onto a lawn dotted with comfortable seating overlooking the lake. Our room was cleaned whilst we were at breakfast every day and was well appointed, with a very comfortable bed, something lacking in so many hotels. Our room safe did not work on arrival and the cause could not be found, so our valuables were stored in the hotel safe overnight and by the time we had finished breakfast the room safe had been fixed by the maintenance man. We thoroughly enjoyed the facilities - the weather was not good so we were forced to spend more time in the hotel than we would have wished - and would definitely stay there again.
