Reviews for Nozawa Grand Hotel

Review 1:The foreign woman, who attended me on the reception(sorry to not remember her name). Even if you don't speak any Japanese, staff is very friendly and always willing to understand. Loved little open hot spring bath with a view over the village , facing the mountain.

Review 2:Western mattresses not really comfortable. go for the Japanese style room with futon. Breakfast gets a bit dull after the third day. Cold scrambled eggs and sausage, anyone?

Review 3:Great views. Absolutely attentive and very pleasant staff. Indoor/Outdoor onsen. Very nice facilities. Top service.

Review 4:2 Single beds no option for double bed. Hotel asks to take snowboard boots off at the front door. Breakfast is ok but not good value for the cost charged only 1 hr window available for breakfast 8am to 9am Outdoor reservable private onsen was not available during our stay. No CNN (english channel like some other hotels)

Review 5:English speaking staff at front desk was very helpful. Credit Card facilities. Room was great with a nice view. Cleaner on 2nd floor left our room very very clean and re stocked every day. Snow cave was made in courtyard was very nice.

Review 6:I was a bit underwhelmed by this hotel. There is not much of am ambience anywhere. From the description I expected a luxury hotel, however this is more of a 3 star hotel. There was no one to take bags up to the room. The outdoor onsen was closed before 10 pm though the official timing for closing is 10 so we did not get to use it.

Review 7:We liked the private Japanese style bath in the room. Nice views from the room and a comfortable bed.

Review 8:Bed comfort (admittedly difficult for Weaterners). Most Japanese prefer hard beds and 'bean-bag' pillows - literately hard for non -Japanese.

Review 9:Outdoor Onsen, Breakfast quality, lovely staff, Japanese style, views. Room size is generous.

Review 10:Hotel is a bit old and the beds a bit hard (but this is common in Japan).

Review 11:Our room with private onsen was very big. The public onsen was ok but the rotemburo was quiet and with a good mountain views.

Review 12:The view from our room was magical. The staff were so helpful. I left an important item on the train at the local station and the wonderful female staff member at the hotel managed to organise with the train company to have the item returned to me. They did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. Would definetely return and recommend to holiday makers.

Review 13:Loved the outdoor and indoor onsen's. we had the Japanese rooms to experience a bit of Japanese culture. It was amazing. The views out of our room were beautiful, and sitting in the outside onsen while it was snowing was so nice!

Review 14:Like most hotels in Nozawa a long walk to the ski fields or a series of lifts to get to the gondola stations. the twin beds were very small and the bedding quality was poor. When I brought my 2 adult sons who were staying in another hotel to my room for a scotch and show them my hotel I was told that this hotel does not accept guests and they should only stay a short time, in all my travels all over the world I have never encountered this sort of treatment. At my sons hotel I was welcomened in and the manager shared a scotch with us in the foyer before I went to their room. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Review 15:My room was very comfortable a good size and had a balcony overlooking the village and ski fields the hotel had great features including indoor and outdoor onsens.

Review 16:Very helpful, flexible staff.

Review 17:Far from the ski spot, long distance for young kids

Review 18:Staff, food, accommodation

Review 19:The room was slightly musty and hotel looks slightly dated.

Review 20:The outdoor hotspring in winter with snow falling and view of the ski slopes.

Review 21:Loved the staff, very friendly and helpful. Location was great for snow lift... Short walk and your on the hill.

Review 22:The breakfast was OK, but could do with some more western style ingredients, such as granola and some real bread. It's a pity also that the hotel is missing a bar.

Review 23:A good hotel in a decent location, close the village, the onsens and the ski lifts. I had a big room with balcony and a private bathtub with mountain views! The staff was very kind and helpful and the onsens in the hotel are wonderful, especially the outdoor bath.

Review 24:This is indeed a grand hotel, it is been well maintained, comfortable and clean.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:Traditional Japanese hotel experience, food, Ibsen, skiing, view of ski slopes from room
