Reviews for Pousada de Sagres
Review 1:Now we are sorting the bathrooms can we move on the electrics 1 socket with 4 appliances! Wifi was crap in room which is annoying as this seemed to be sorted a year ago with routers in each room.
Review 2:At last Bathrooms are being repaired our which has been needed to be done for years, as always happy smiling staff, We having for 10 years and love this place its special.
Review 3:The staff was great. Very helpful the room was great and the dinning was supberb. Really loved it and would recommed the for everyone visiting Portugal.
Review 4:Nothing.
Review 5:A wonderful place with a beautiful view of the ocean, the room large and spacious with a balcony from which you can watch the sunset or sunrise. Staff courteous, responsive and helpful. Recommended best sights of the surrounding area. The staff was very polite - noticed that my birthday and surprise for me in my room - birthday cake and good wine !! Breakfast very tasty and a large selection of dishes - lots of fruit, a variety of juices, cheeses, cakes, pastries and hot dishes. I recommend this hotel for romantic lovers.
Review 6:Food both and dinner and poor breakfast, cold food and cold coffee. Room very basic , needs decorating , bathroom shabby , taps rusty
Review 7:Location and lounge rooms
Review 8:Massively overpriced for what is very tired and dated accommodation. Think Costa brava circa 1980! Service was awful, dim witted bar staff and scruffy looking front reception. Needs a 10m euro refurb!!!
Review 9:Very little.
Review 10:The restaurant is great. The temptation is to go out on the town to find somewhere lively. However, the waiting staff is so attentive you feel like there is plenty going on. So what if it is 30% more expensive than the town: the food is great and in the end you get better value for money than anywhere in town. Don't miss out on the carob moose. I've never had anything like it. Indeed, one of the best things in the Algarve are the carob, fig and almond cakes, which are mind blowingly good. In Portuguese carob is called alfarroba.
Review 11:the rooms are woefully outdated and showing signs of decay. In need of renovation!
Review 12:Beautiful view and common areas. Breakfast was good too! Spectacular views!
Review 13:Time waiting to get served at the Hotel bar. On all occasions I had to wait at least 5-10 min until a member of staff served me.
Review 14:Location,Location,location
Review 15:You're paying for the location, our room was a bit tired and needed a refresh for the price.
Review 16:Location is fantastic, amazing view over Sagres. Nice pool and facilities very good.
Review 17:The hotel and the view of the water was beautiful! The restaurant was exceptional quality both for dinner and breakfast and we loved sitting there with a view of the pool and ocean. Large room and we enjoyed the balcony.
Review 18:Everything. Unbelievable location, three minutes walk from the most wonderful swimming beach and another couple near-by, to supplement good pool at the Pousada. Hotel is gracious and charming, staff are extremely good and the breakfast was superb. A very special hotel in one of the worlds lovliest areas.
Review 19:Location ( panoramic view); splendid room ( superior) with view on the seaside +with excellent beds ; atmosphere in the building; dinner in the restaurant; swimming pool; not far to walk to a nice beach. Possibility to live the Sunset in Cabo de San Vincente!
Review 20:Rooms needed some updating. There were no easily available power outlets for computer and phone re-charging. Dangerous, flimsy "rain seals" on all openable glass doors in rooms ans other public areas
Review 21:Great staff-helpful,pleasant and usually with excellent to basic English depending on their level of seniority .
Review 22:Unheated pool. Dining room has good dinners but a little pricey.
Review 23:Warm reception, helpful staff, balcony ocean view room, close for hiking to Cape Vincent. The views from the hotel are amazing.
Review 24:We had problems with the heating (on a very cold day) when we arrived which the receptionist was quite slow to deal with.
Review 25:The hotel is situated on a beautiful headland. The food was excellent
Review 26:it was not very busy which made eating in the restaurant quite a lonely experience at times. The menu for dinner was hard to understand.
Review 27:we had beautiful views from our room. The buffet breakfast set us up for the day and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 28:Wi-fi not very efficient; rooms not very warm for the time of year (February).
Review 29:Excellent restaurant and cuisine; attentive and conscientious staff who were fluent in English; historical connections of the building well explained and interesting; magnificent scenery.
Review 30:Food was poor Christmas day normally we never eat in Pousada so does not matter, and I say in every review please Pousadas spend some money on the rooms they are getting so dated!
Review 31:As always staff and location it is like coming home for us
Review 32:Although room generally good. Some aspects of the furnishings ( ie wardrobes ) were looking old and a little tired
Review 33:Good service , really nice staff , excellent restaurant but reasonably expensive. Good location with lovely views . All in all very positive
Review 34:The wi-fi was not consistently working.
Review 35:We just loved our stay at the Pousada and ended staying a second night. The location is perfect with breath-taking views. The staff was excellent. The food was terrific in the restaurant, too. I highly recommend this hotel when you go to Sagres.
Review 36:Our rooms had a strange moldy smell. my parents' room next door did as well. the rooms looked very clean so I imagine the mold was coming from someplace in walls or floors which could not be seen (we searched the room). If you are sensitive to smells or mold I would check with hotel first. We were in rooms 202 and 203. but we would still go to these rooms because overall they were very clean and the views were spectacular.
Review 37:retro, authentic decor- nothing has changed from the late 60's when it was built. Had a really cool vibe. Lobby was comfortable and cozy with nice bar, fireplace and fabulous views. our rooms has incredible views and lots of bright sunlight. hard wood floors in rooms, tile, nice staff. great location- private and secluded but very convenient to town center. and beach. best views we have ever had in a hotel room.
Review 38:The room had a very musty smell and the wall had some flaking paint due to water damage. There were walking paths near the cliffs but they were basically dirt tracks through a rough field - they would have been impassible mud after a rain. Such a pity not to capitalize on their wonderful location.
Review 39:Wonderful location right by the cliffs with a great view out the sea facing window.
Review 40:Cost of supper a bit high (EUR25+) for the quality. As there were no other restaurants open in the area during the late November period, we really had no choice!
Review 41:Beautiful location, comfortable rooms, extremely helpful staff. Treated to an upgrade when our AC system didn't operate properly. Breakfast (included) was excellent.
Review 42:The pillows were dreadful. We also had to pay cash on departure as their banking machine was out of order. To do this I had to go into Sagres to draw out some cash. There was a huge storm at the time so I got thoroughly wet. This rather spoilt our stay.
Review 43:The staff and food were very good.
Review 44:Do not eat meals in restaurant as expensive and poor service as they run on a skeleton staff. Wifi free but poor connection.
Review 45:Amazing rugged coastline. As we were out of season got free room upgrade. Good choice for breakfast. I would guess in the summer South facing rooms would get very hot even with A/C. Very friendly staff. Free parking. Town itself a bit of a disappointment.
Review 46:While clean, things are starting to show signs of age. Our bathtub grouting was overdue for replacement; cracking and discoloured. One of the two halogen lights over the vanity was burnt out when we checked in and never replaced. The blackout curtain was in tatters. A bit of investment is required to restore the elegance.
Review 47:We had little interaction with the staff as we were off seeing historical sights around the fortress, etc. The front desk was fine; staff were polite in passing. The overall facility is nice; bed and room in general was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was done well.
Review 48:As an elderly couple we had some problems with the lack of handrails at the main entrance, interior stairway and the patio doors to the terraces. A lift and a ramp for wheelchairs was however available for the first two.
Review 49:Wonderful staff, from the receptionist through restaurant and bar to housekeeping. All senior staff had good English but even the lower staff were prepared to cope with our rather poor Portuguese.
Review 50:It has a great view to the East and to the West. Nice interior decoration. Great price
Review 51:Good spot to visit the forts.
Review 52:Heating in bedroom poor
Review 53:Felt only the tiniest bit mouldy

Review 62:One of our worst breakfast in the Algarve
Review 63:Perfect view for sunset

Review 90:The food in the restaurant
Review 91:The staff in the reception
Review 92:nothing
Review 93:Everthing. Enviroment. Silence. Nice people in and outside the Pousada.
Review 94:Fragrances in the toilet. Staff could be a little more polite, naturally polite.
Review 95:Great location, good food. Great place to base yourself around. I highly recommend it.
Review 96:The location of the charming Pousada is stunning. Ideal for a few days of long walks along the Atlantic Ocean. The staff makes you feel welcome and at home. Delicious meals !
Review 97:The entire place smells terribly musty, but our room was horrible. The clothes that I had exposed to the "air" in that room all smelled when I took them out of the bag at the next hotel. I cannot explain how bad the smell was.
Review 98:Great view of the fort and ocean.
Review 99:Food quality was very low. The restaurant evidently had a cook, not a chef. Food was very poor indeed. I felt sorry for those evidently on "half board" who had no escape.
Review 100:Superb location. Wonderful staff.
Review 101:Not enough options on the menu for vegetarians.
Review 102:We loved the touch of the champagne in the room to celebrate a birthday. The staff were really helpful and polite. We will recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.
Review 103:Had to wait a long time for evening meal. Although annoying at the time we were pleased to recieved an apology and substancial discount. We now view the incident as one of those things that happen.
Review 104:Views and breakfast were amazing
Review 105:No kettle for tea making in the room. A little short on sockets
Review 106:The view and friendliness of staff Breakfast was good. easy parking and walk in to town
Review 107:Very old bath tub, with an old shower head an a bit of a rusty tap. Rooms were ok, but needed a bit of renovation.
Review 108:The breakfast was excellent and had a lot of variety. The view from the balcony was excellent.
Review 109:We loved the walk to the fortress and observing the ocean waves pounding against the mighty cliffs in the evening. Also enjoyed the breakfasts and the dinners. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 110:Rooms small and outdated/ shabby. Dining confused and disjointed. Frequent yelling heard from kitchen. 45 min till bread and water arrived. Only 2 other tables occupied. Breakfast much the same. No wifi in rooms.
Review 111:Good location for touring area. Common areas were beautiful and comfortable. Staff very helpful.
Review 112:No wifi in the rooms. Air conditioning doesn't work well in rooms that have not been updated.
Review 113:The Pousada is in an amazing location at the "end of the world" as it used to be known. Such beautiful views right from the hotel. The Fort and beaches are within walking distance. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. The upgraded rooms are very comfortable, including balconies with gorgeous views. The breakfast was good.
Review 114:I found the in room dining poor, not much choice. I did not want to abandon my wonderful balcony and would have liked to eat something more fancy than just salad on my balcony.
Review 115:I loved my room number 202 directly overlooking the bay, beautiful sunset every evening, fantastic stargazing. I also liked the terrasse for breakfast. The whole place is very peaceful.
Review 116:The whole facility is showing it's age, but then it isn't charging as though it's a modern place. Breakfast was unimpressive.
Review 117:What a lovely location. I only wish we'd been on a relaxed beach holiday not a fast-paced European circuit. The pool looked inviting. Front desk staff were helpful.
Review 118:we would have expected a better breakfast for this price of the hotel
Review 119:the key reason to book this hotel is of course its special location and incredible view!
Review 120:We found it very expensive for what you got, compared to other hotels. No wi-fi in the rooms, very basic furnishings, and sparsely furnished. This was a disappointment, because otherwise the stay was very enjoyable
Review 121:The hotel was in a beautiful area, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 122:Rooms are old fashioned not just the interior but also the technique (bathroom / room key = true key). Empty mini bar (except 2 bottles of water). Not even a complementary bottle of water in the room. Breakfast nothing special. Hmm. Just not worth the money (€ 220 p.n.).
Review 123:The view from the balcony to the fortezza and the shoreline. The size of the room. Free parking. Breakfast time until 11:00 a.m.
Review 124:The food in the restaurant was not that great, especially for the money. The local restaurants are better.
Review 125:The hotel was in a beautiful building in lovely surroundings. Reception staff were very nice.
Review 126:The superb scenery and a very relaxed atmosphere. It is a million miles away from much of the awful junk to be found in other parts of the Algarve coast.
