Reviews for Gozo Escapes

Review 1:Fantastic place to stay, simply but beautifully decorated, great views, calm location. Bit too cold to swim in November ; ) but would love to go back and use the pool when it's warmer!

Review 2:The first apartment bedroom had rising damp and smelled bad. Luckily owner moved us the next day.

Review 3:Quiet and good location . Giving a different and bigger apartment the next day when complained about the damp in the first apartment.

Review 4:We were unable to enter the property as not given proper instructions. The fan didn't work, the fridge was noisy, the lighting was poor, and the furniture was shabby. There wasn't enough linen provided for our six day stay.

Review 5:It was very quiet and near a good shop.

Review 6:Lacked attention to detail. The beds were lumpy & uncomfortable because the mattresses & beds were old and cheap. The linen was old, clean but worn. The kitchen utensils were old & key things missing or broken, e.g. broken wooden spoon, broken tin opener, no colander, no carving or steak knives, no chopping boards, no place mats, I could go on. When we arrived the inside of the house was dusty, had cobwebs hanging everywhere and dead flies on light fittings. The pool was tiny, not as it appeared online, more like a kids paddling pool. The BBQ was dirty. The sun loungers were ancient & looked tatty. The white plastic chairs outside, were so old and discoloured, one of them actually collapsed & broke in 3 pieces, slightly injuring me in the process. These chairs had been left outside for probably years, baked in the sun and became brittle. The TV had only 5 channels initially & no English stations. We complained to the owner who upgraded it to 25 stations. However, 80% were Italian, 15% Maltese & just Eurosport & TVM (with some but not all) had programmes in English). The sofas were made of plastic, so you stuck to them when seated in the heat. Most of the fans did not work, making being inside very uncomfortable. 2 stopped working while we were there, one was replaced after complaining. Again all were ancient. The electrics were dodgy, one socket did not work, one bedroom light flickered on and off when used. The indoor steps to the bedrooms were steep and potentially dangerous. The top step made, of concrete, started to crumble, causing a hazard at the top of the stairs. We reported it but was told by the owner that no repair work would be done while the house was being rented out. Why it is a hazard? To top it all. there was constant building noise from nearby, hardly quiet residence in the countryside.

Review 7:Lovely rustic stone farmhouse with private pool.

Review 8:flashing mechanisms in every bathroom need a bit of tweaking as it took 3 good pumps before flashing took place sl)

Review 9:the location, charm , layout and character of the house. The pool was perfect and the barbecure was fun.

Review 10:Would benefit from air conditioning in bedroom although may not be possible due to traditional type of building. WiFi totally unreliable and frustrating.

Review 11:Location and traditional nature of buildings. Privacy if required due to layout.

Review 12:Horrible damp smell hits you straight away, we've used two bottlesof febreze just to be able to fall asleep. Pillows smelled of old sweatand the mattress was so old that you could feel the springs! It took ashine off what was otherwise a really nice place :(

Review 13:The apartment had a lovely layout, very rustic. It had a gorgeous pooland a great view. The village of Ghasri is easily accessible with the308 bus that runs every hour.

Review 14:We found another family staying in our farmhouse, must of overbooked but never admitted it. Took 3 frustrating hours and several phone calls to sort out an alternative. Not the best start to a holiday!

Review 15:None.

Review 16:Typical Gozitan farmhouse, very nice area with lovely views. Had all amenities needed, very clean and satisified with choosing this particular farmhouse.

Review 17:- Location not as specified - private pool not heated ... ~16-17C - renovated farmhouses -- it is a part of a house, not a farm house. - BBQ is wood, no wood provided. - "furnished garden" - means stone paving and sun lounges - "fireplace" with no wood - "cable TV" with only a few channels and none in English - "fully equipped kitchen" - without dishwasher - "balcony enjoying pool" - not large enough for furiture and sidings to low to be safe for children - "garden views" - no garden only stone walls and paved area - "Free private parking is possible on site" - there was no driveway and no garage. Nearest street parking 200-300 metres away.

Review 18:Service and support was excellent.

Review 19:Check out is Early!

Review 20:The layout of the apartment and building. The fireplace was nice as the evenings were cold however take your own wood to burn. Good internet connection and TV.

Review 21:nothing at all, only one minor thing: we couldn't find where to turn the swimming pool lights on during the evening, as they were turning off and on automatically and there was this timespan between 7pm and 8pm when it was dark and the pool didn't shine

Review 22:we stayed at the pippa with a shared pool and it was just perfect: quiet location, the villa is HUGE, beautiful, very stylish interior and exterior. the owner even contacted me personally by phone at the day of our arrival to ensure we got there fine. the cleaning lady was nice too

Review 23:Gas cooker didn't work the entire stay on spite of 'being fixed' by caretaker .also the satellite tv had a life if it's own, often switching itself off .

Review 24:Swimming pool & house

Review 25:The swimming pool area needs a bit more attention due to the Olives falling from the only olive tree, and the deck chairs needs cleaning too.

Review 26:This was our 2nd stay at Razzett Ghasri. it is very quiet both night and day. Mini Market is 100 meters away. It was a great holiday staying there.

Review 27:Uncomfortable beds.

Review 28:We really liked the village Gharb and Gozo, lot's to see if you have a car. We would like to return again. The kids loved the pool.

Review 29:The property description mentioned BBQ facilities but they weren't available during our stay. If you prefer a late lunch then be aware that most restaurants/cafes/bars close at around 2pm and don't open again until 6pm.

Review 30:The farmhouse is full of character and perfect for a relaxing break. The pool area is great for sunbathing and the pool itself is a decent size for such a small property. Plenty of space for a couple with the thick stone walls and tiles staying nice and cool. Just watch out for the low doorways! While Ghasri doesn't have much to offer Victoria is a quick bus ride away and there are several villages within walking/cycling distance.

Review 31:nothing wrong for us. excellent experience.

Review 32:we were in ta soru: Splendid location to enjoy peace and beauty in Gozo, but also easy access by car to the main villages. bus stop closeby. Great atmosphere, great for self catering and bbqing at night. Closest shop 5 mins car, closest restaurant 5 mins car, other restaurants 20 mins. Not for people who want night life at walking distance, the village is completely made of houses, no bars or shops. other houses around, feels safe. easy to find following the directions sent by mail, no problems with keys. easier however to find passing ta pinu Church and going ahead for 1 km, it is on the road.

Review 33:Not clean , old instalations, i remain without electrical power, toilet wather doesnt flush, i remain without gas , very very stingy owner!

Review 34:Authentic malteze house, not confortable !

Review 35:Very small bathroom and low ceilings.

Review 36:Location

Review 37:Not comfortable and expensive.

Review 38:Just the location

Review 39:not being advised when the maintenance man will visit, and noticing he's in the property on Sunday at 8 in the morning.

Review 40:Home setup is very interesting. Quite village

Review 41:All was fine! Nothing to complain about.

Review 42:Clean Environment Friendly and Helpful Staff Heaters Electric Blankets Free Wifi

Review 43:Perfect location for a quiet and relaxing holiday, the bus station and the supermarket are nearby. Especially the housekeeper Jeanette was very friendly and helpful.

Review 44:There should be a guard rail in the lower stairway of the property - up to the bedroom. The mezzanine floor should have a higher guard rail at the foot of the bed, as the present one is too shallow and could be dangerous - particularly at night.

Review 45:Peaceful site with lovely views and a good, relaxing atmosphere.

Review 46:The bed in the double bedroom was terrible... depending on what you are used to of course. However overall it was a nice house and the sofa was comfy, i can recommend to sleep in the sofa downstairs.

Review 47:Awesome location. We stayed in the house ta katarin and it was a small little place. Simple and very cosy.

Review 48:Although advertised as having free wifi, it did not work at all during our whole week long visit. Owner kept assuring us all would be well, but it never worked. Seating in lounge was not comfortable.

Review 49:Location was excellent. Outside space was lovely. Good being able to walk out of the house and walk in countryside. Bed was very comfortable and good touch having electric blankets - still cold at night. Kitchen good.

Review 50:There entry way to the apartment group was flooded daily and had to carefully treat through quite a bit of water to get through. The wall plug where the heater was was cracked through and sparked when I tried to connect the heater. another light fixture did not work. The sheets were thin cotton..in winter time! It was labelled as a farmhouse where in fact it was a converted "remissa"!

Review 51:The location, cleanliness of the apartment

Review 52:one have to go outside for the bedroom which should be nice in summer but not recommended for winter; the shower flooded the whole bathroom and half the bedroom thus we had to clean each time we shower; towels were only given once and never changed

Review 53:the pool area and the very helpful staff

Review 54:Common areas where full of dead insects and the place needed sweeping. Free wifi not reachable from pool area but could connect to other rooms using same passcode.

Review 55:Excellent location and views from common pool area are superb. Free Wifi.

Review 56:To go upstairs to the bedrooms you have to walk outdoors but its the type of building. Bathrooms are ensuite in every room though so all great :)

Review 57:We had electric blankets in each bed + 2 bathrooms in a slp for 4 ppl It was very warm and cosy inside even though no heaters ..perfect!!

Review 58:The constant sound of gunfire, even before dayreak, killing thousands of our birds.

Review 59:b b Being out of the way, being able to park, the oldworldliness of the building, the local supermarket, the swimming pool, the view, the church and the cooking faliities.

Review 60:This was advertised as a hotel when in fact it was a self cateringfarmhouse. Comfort was very uncomfortable with access to bedrooms fromthe outside.

Review 61:There was no toiletteries in the bathrooms and flushings in both showerrooms did not function too well. The door leading from the sitting roomto the yard could only be locked from the inside, meaning that one hasto leave it unlocked during the night, since bedrooms are to be reachedfrom the court yard. We managed to lock ourselves out :( and not eventhe housekeeper had a key to this particular door. It is good to knowtaht as in a typical farmhouse, you get bedrooms on separate levelswhich have to be reached from outside stairs - not ideal for family withvery young children, but was just fine for us. Stiarcase was well lit.

Review 62:The farmhouse Ta' Pippa was charming, with authentic features andwalls which takes you back in years. The views from the balcony andterrace were also splendid. Excellent for a relaxing break away from thehassle of the city and surrounded with country side, and the sounds ofnature and church bells!. The kitchen was also well equipt and bedroomsspacious and comfortable.Jeanette, the housekeeper was very helpful andof great assistance when we called her. The supermarket was just astone's throw away and was open very early even on EasterSunday. There was absolutely no parking problems and Għasri is just a fewminutes drive from main attractions such as Rabat, Dwejra, Għarb, etc...Will visit again.

Review 63:The location was remote and quiet with hardly any sounds except the occasional buzzing of bees and chirping birds. Perfect for relaxing from the busy city.

Review 64:There's a number of stray cats who know that they often get food from guests in these apartments and set up camp by the doorways waiting for possibility of next meal...

Review 65:The apartment was beautiful, characterful, and well-kept. Terrace with shared pool had a lovely view. Electric blanket came in very useful in January! Be aware that some of these apartments have separate bedrooms reached via outside stairs - you may need a torch at night. You also need to bring some food/get some on the ferry if arriving in evening/sunday as the lighthouse supermarket often has short hours.

Review 66:The place is very quiet, clean and comfortable. Very good for quite relaxing stay with nice country views. Very friendly people.

Review 67:There was no one to get the key, horrible to find the place.

Review 68:The pool.

Review 69:A bit dodgy to find at first but once found it is worth it !

Review 70:Quiet, cosy, comfortable. Everything you need is there.

Review 71:An overall good expierience

Review 72:Doors not properly locked and someone tried to break in during d night

Review 73:It was a bit cold with just one small heater. Bedroom and shower roofs bit low for a tall person

Review 74:It was quite. Nice panoramic views. Comfortable.

Review 75:Having to go out in the cold to get to bedroom.

Review 76:The view from outside

Review 77:no heater in one of the rooms. The BBQ was too small.

Review 78:I like the space of the house and view.

Review 79:The great Maltese atmosphere and the really nice view outside

Review 80:TV set out of order

Review 81:Converted farmhouse has a fantastic view and has a serene quiet atmosphere - the ideal place for a relaxing quiet holiday

Review 82:the pool hasn t been clean and nothing was done about it

Review 83:the kitchen , it found all the equipment i needed for cooking clean and organized.

Review 84:Loved the old converted farmhouse look and the rustic decor.
