Reviews for Stone Hotel & Hostel

Review 1:The building is quite old, bathroom was a horrible mess (like 2/10 in cleanliness), and I couldn't sleep because of the noisy drunk guys staying in other rooms yelling at each other.

Review 2:Good location and helpful staff.

Review 3:- the heating could be better, the radiator was on but couldnt heat up the whole room

Review 4:- free breakfast for guests on 1/1 - good wifi connection - close to central station - not noisy guests

Review 5:The bunk beds has a rickety feel to them. If top bunk moves then surely bottom bunk will feel it also, so if you're a light sleeper that might be a problem. The bathroom is damp and not heated, also the room itself was on the cooler side.

Review 6:The central location, the hostel is located 20 minutes walk away from the central train station. Public transport is also available if you prefer. The price is also very reasonable.

Review 7:Nothing much. Enjoyed my stay.

Review 8:I had the whole room to myself as there weren't any other travellers. The bathroom was clean, there was hand soap, which can be needed. The staff was very nice. Kitchen is very well equipped and managed.

Review 9:The building is quite old, so in the bathroom there's fungus. And I hardly imagine how to take shower in it.

Review 10:Staff is awesome and the breakfast option is definitely worth it.

Review 11:Although i didn't sleep much that one night i spent there because of very loud guests outside the room (banging doors, extremly loud conversations at 3 a.m.) i really liked it here. It may be not the most modern hostel, but its pretty cozy. It felt like home. And the staff was nice...i would come here again :)

Review 12:-

Review 13:For a hostel, it was pretty clean, not that noisy. The double room was extremely small, but the bathroom was very clean and well mantained. The free coffee and tea in the kitchen were a bonus. The area in which the hostel is situated is nice and super close to the canals of the city center.

Review 14:Bathroom could really use a shower cabin - it was completely flooded, really annoying!

Review 15:Clean, quiet, simple hostel with decent breakfast for a good price. Convenient location close to the center, nice staff.

Review 16:Cleanliness of kitchen, noisy guests at night, lack of furniture in (double) room (not even a nightstand).

Review 17:Location near to city centre, possibility to use the kitchen (free coffee and tea).

Review 18:Our host, Joram, was extremely helpful, considerate, and generous. It is such personal touches that enhance travel and make one feel at home in the world.

Review 19:Got unlucky with having a loud drunk guy on the floor below - he was quieted after midnight.

Review 20:Very secure with codes for both front door and the room, lovely clean linen and bathroom facilities. Aimed at a more mature traveller than most hostels.

Review 21:The shower didn't have soap at a reachable distance, but if you're careful enough, you don't make a bit mess of water. Not many towels available, but if you ask reception they'll provide you with more. Small room, it's not really like a hotel but it's ok if you're not picky. Bad reception of Wi-Fi upstairs.

Review 22:Firm matrass, very friendly and helpful staff, Kitchen available for all guests, good price-value for paid breakfast, but you can also buy your own things and prepare your own breakfast and everything meal you want in their kitchen. Nice common areas. Easy area to park on the street.

Review 23:Extremely noisy, the bathroom + restroom were extremely cranky and veryprimitive. Too much people in the smallest space. Smallest blanket ever, difficult to get a proper towel. Oh and I forgot the mices in the commonroom. Apparently this is frequent in Netherlands, because they'reunder the level of the sea...?One could tell it's what you get for this price but I disagree. I've been to other youth hostels, for a couple of more euros, the quality was there. Hence my title.

Review 24:The plugs inside the lockers and next to the beds, the putlockers. Acorrect breakfast. And a very good internet connection.

Review 25:Friendly hostel. I spent 3 days there and I really enjoyed it. The staff was helpful and the hostel is close to the center. I can only reccomend it :)

Review 26:No doubts!

Review 27:It was case of urgent and unexpected one night stay and it worked out. I got a reservation, with any hesitation, and I had all I needed. Plus charger and Wifi. Plus Plus, I met new great peops! :) Nice experience!

Review 28:The bathrooms could be better since there is no separation between toilets and showers.

Review 29:Nice hostel very well located to enjoy Utrecht's nightlife. Kitchen is well furnished, it is possible to cook your own food and use both fridge and dishwasher. Rooms are ok and linen is clean. Staff is really helpful. Very good adress for young travellers who want to party and meet people.

Review 30:The staff is super friendly, the rooms are well-kept and though small, really comfortable. Good location - just a few minutes of walking from the city center, and easily accessable from Central Station by bus. Really good value for it's price!

Review 31:I reserved a 4 bed female room, but had private bathroom. The room was tiny and there was no lockers or place enough to leave the luggage. The stairs were so narrow to climb carring a big suitcase, but the staff helped me.

Review 32:The staff were so kind. The hostel was just in the center, 5 min walk from the Dom. There was a common room with 3 PC with free internet and You can print documents for free. You can also access to free coffee or tea. The breakfast cost 4,50 and was so completed. I liked it. I could highly recommend this accomodation.

Review 33:6 beds, but only 5 lockers in the room. Beds and matresses could be more comfortable.

Review 34:Staff were friendly. The room (6-bed dorm) was spacious enough. Having a table and chairs inside was a plus. I loved having the sockets inside the lockers. It was nice having free tea and coffee in the common room.

Review 35:the aisle of the room is a bit narrow and the staircases are steep. There are three wifi which you can connect to but the signal at the room was a bit weak when I was there.

Review 36:The location is not particularly close to the central station but accessible and can be reached by bus easily. It is not far from the attractions. The price is good and the staff was enthusiastic to introduce the city to you when you arrive.

Review 37:Wonderful value hostel with friendly staff! In a great location with plenty restaurants and cafeterias around. City center within walking distance. Daily cleaning and a nice kitchen for preparing your meal. Supermarket within 3min walking. With that great price i would definitely stay there again!

Review 38:These stairs to access first floor an specially the second one are too narrow and dangerous somehow

Review 39:Position is quite central, few minutes walking to cenral Utrecht. The place is clean, friendly, the common room is confortable. I had a single room within the hostel, it was ok despite little space inside.

Review 40:We stayed for 3 days here and enjoyed much. The location is close to the center and many restaurants around the neighbourhood. Breakfast was great and cheap. Definitely will stay here again next time in Utrecht

Review 41:Like in many hostels, different material for pillows and materasses would improve comfort and cleanliness, but nothing so "scaring" like in amstertrap ;)

Review 42:common area with 3 computers and fast wifi is open 24 hours, kitchen till late. nice shops and clubs(if u r party animal) round the corner. Staff has been extremely polite:I was also sick one night and they emptied the dorm 4 me :) thank u

Review 43:A supermarket is nearby, wifi signal is great and the kitchen is user-friendly. There are computers and printer in the common room, we can use them at anytime and free of charge!!

Review 44:Beds are not very comfortable

Review 45:It is a well located place with a friendly staff. The price is very competitive considering that Utrecht is not a business city

Review 46:Walls are thins so it can be noisy at night.

Review 47:Very nice host, people from everywhere. Very good facilities, linen, own bathroom for the room. Each bed had a bedlight and power points. Clean, nice and airy. The guy who owns it is very friendly, open and nice. They also helped with directions and travel advice. Lola, the dog was also very friendly but calm and lovely!

Review 48:The staff was really friendly and the common room is a nice place to hang out and meet fellow travelers. There's everything you want in a hostel when you're traveling through Utrecht.

Review 49:Those steep stairs!!!

Review 50:The staff were very friendly and the place had a good vibe. The rooms had bathrooms and there were also communal bathrooms if someone else was in the room bathroom. The communal area wasn't huge but was well appointed with all the basics (and more) well covered.

Review 51:Loved the staff, who are all very friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere, which is supercozy and friendly. Also it's a small place and doesn't try too hard to be hip and yet is just that:)

Review 52:I had a good stay here in Utrecht. Right when we arrived the hostel, both the boss and the staff at reception are super nice. They introduced us about good places in Utrecht, and they were willing to offer help. The common room is comfy as well, good place for gathering, and noted that there are computers available for use as well. I think I will return to Utrecht someday, and this will be a good place to stay again.

Review 53:Actually It's not a hotel but a hostel, and it was so nosiy at the night and the room was also cold.. I woke up several times because it's so cold inside even though it's summer. I expected a room with a normal bed but there was a bunker bed. there were two towels inside but not a hair-dryer/shampoo,etc. I payed 70e for one night, it's pretty expensive I think... the location was pretty good though

Review 54:The staff was very friendly

Review 55:even for Dutch standard stairs with very steep steps --> problem if you have heavy luggage, matress of the bed wasn't very comfortable

Review 56:good location right in the center of Utrecht, nice and helpful staff, 4,50 Euro breakfast was good

Review 57:Has to work a long way from some popular bus station

Review 58:Enthusiastic staffs, the environment and nice, small but tidy. You can cook your food and enjoy some of the snacks shared by other people.

Review 59:Many room are JUST FOR GIRLS!!!! ))) Watch careful while booking

Review 60:VERY very positive and halpfulness stuff. A big Kithcen. A big place, hall for practice, for schoolwork.

Review 61:Well recognizable from the street (green sign Stone Hotel), the bus stop is just round the corner. A very friendly and caring stuff who looks for keeping everything clean and everybody happy - they helped me a lot during my staying with advising places where to go and providing me an adaptor. My bed was at the upper level still it was very comfortable to get there using a bed-ladder. Every bed in our female room had a separate plug socket and a night-lamp. The spacious shower and bathroom with perfect water drive. The lockers for clothers and hangers were in the room. I really felt safe having a combination lock from the corridor to our dorm and the front door coded system with intercom. Everybody could use the kitchen, watch TV and use computers with internet connection, printer, strong wifi signal Choosing among the hostels in Utrecht I'll definitely recommend you booking this one!

Review 62:As mentioned prior, it was on the fifth floor of a building that was being renovated, and there wasn't a lot of direction indicating where the door was.

Review 63:Other than being located on the fifth floor of what appears to be an abandoned complex, this place was wonderful. Very helpful staff, excellent value, great breakfast, and the gentleman whom appeared to own it even called us a cab for the airport.

Review 64:Felt every movement from my roommate in the bed below me.

Review 65:Staff was very friendly and helpful, Stone is just a few minutes walk or a one minute bike ride from Utrecht's city centre.

Review 66:The facilities are in need of renovation. Also lacks cleanliness.

Review 67:The staff was extremely polite and helpful. Value for money, considering the prices in Holland. Overall, I had a good stay.

Review 68:It lacks a bit of fun atmosphere for a hostel

Review 69:The australian girl that works in reception is super nice to talk to and really helpful, the hostel was nice, clean and during the night is quiet.

Review 70:I had a conference to give a talk to at Utrecht university. Positioned 5 mins walk away from the department, it allowed for very easy access. Staff friendly, helpful and facilities just what I needed.

Review 71:The doors require oiling, that's for sure. They are squealing all the time so you can imagine that in the morning there is always a "door concert" on your floor hauling you out of bed earlier than expected.

Review 72:The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect as it is is very close to the city center. Our double room was small but nice and very clean! I happened to see how some of the other rooms were cleaned during our stay and I really have to say they do an amazing job! The bed was comfortable and the blankets are great and keep you warm (always a plus). After our checkout we could even leave our luggage in a lockable room without paying an additional fee so that we could enjoy our last hours in Utrecht without worrying about dragging our stuff all the way through the city.

Review 73:The stairs from the front door to the reception desk was way too steep. So consider this thing if you plan to carry a heavy luggage.

Review 74:The staff was really nice and helpful, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable

Review 75:Yes the stairs are steep, not very nice if u have to carry a heavy luggage

Review 76:The staff was extremely helpful and friendly The location is not bad indeed, just have to walk a while till you get to the centre

Review 77:The confort and facilities of the hotel are subpar, and the price is simply too much for what you get. And I am reviewing here a single room with included toilet and shower, which is toward the "high end" of what this hotel offers.

Review 78:The host had a very positive and friendly attitude. Although not very close from the central railway station, the hotel is conveniently located within a 25 minute walking distance.

Review 79:Bathroom was cold since the window could not be closed and the room itself was like a sauna because the radiator was stuck on full heat. Always things missing at breakfast (different each time: cups, spoons, etc). This standard wouldn't work at all in Sweden.

Review 80:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 81:Stairs was a little steep, but that's only a very small worry!

Review 82:Perfect place for inexpensive stay in a beautiful city. Clean and tidy facilities, great breakfast and the owners and staff were so helpful. Great atmosphere in the common room and good wifi

Review 83:steep stairs but WE CAN DO =) Nice Challenge (old building style) a taste from the past

Review 84:Comfortable Room, Hot water, Nice common room and good facility for cooking in the common kitchen with everything you need and always free-tea/coffee

Review 85:Even though it was cleaned every day, the dorm smelled like if someone has died. But I could blame the flatmates as well I guess.

Review 86:The location is rather good and I really liked the free coffee.

Review 87:Bed quality could be better.

Review 88:I liked that the kitchen was spacious if you wanted to prepare something. 3 PC were at our desposal free of charge. The location was very easy to find and very close to the center.

Review 89:V small room and poor value for money. Not the hostels fault just the going rate it seems.

Review 90:Great location and it is as good as you can get for the money.

Review 91:The pillows and mattress was not clean.

Review 92:The receptionist was very kind and helpful. He has a great suggestions about where to go and what to eat/drink in Utrecht. He is a nice and friendly guy.

Review 93:it looks a bit run down.

Review 94:One of the staff members was so pretty and nice; I think I'm in love :P Other than that, it was very close to everything in the centre.

Review 95:The staff of the hostel were absolutely excellent. They have computers with access to wifi and clean showers. It is definitely not luxury but in the Netherlands nothing comes cheep. So if your looking for value and comfortable place to stay this is great!

Review 96:Bathroom flooded every time anyone showered.

Review 97:Really lovely staff. Good location, but tad far from the train station if you have large luggage and walk but otherwise no issue.

Review 98:I stayed 4 nights and the room was never clean up or tidy - had to start asking for new towels by my own after the 2nd day. The shower isn't practical because it inundates all the bathroom when used, but I start seeing the same thing in many other countries, as well. More importantly, there is no mirror in the bathroom what turns shaving very difficult.

Review 99:good localization, friendly ambiance, coffee and tea available with no charge 24h, nice HD TV with great choice of international channels, my room was in a calm and quiet part of the hotel

Review 100:I stayed in room 10, right near reception, it was so loud. You could here people all during the night screaming and what not. Bathroom was not that great.

Review 101:Good location, bed comfy, both receptionists on checkin and check out were fabulous and very helpful. I liked that there was a power point at each bed.

Review 102:Possibility to meet new and open minded people since it is a hostel and being able to have rooms to a similar fashion of a hotel. Interesting backpacking books, advice on what you can do, friendly staff, locked location to store your bikes and other belongings. They provided us with an extra blanket as well upon request!

Review 103:The room was a bit cold. But the weather was bad so can be blamed.. Be ready for Duch staris;)

Review 104:Graet stay. I got every thing I needed.Full kitchen, clean room and bathroom. Free wifi and cimputer use. It is 15min walk from 'city centre' and central station. Every thing in Utrect is in walking distence.

Review 105:Didn't know (or maybe didn't see before booked hostel) that there's one bathroom and toilet for several rooms ... but we get used on that

Review 106:1 .Staff memebers were just as they should be - polite, always available for giving proper information. 2. Hostel is placed literaly 10 minutes of walk from city center. 3. Breakfast was awsome

Review 107:- Friendly and flexible staff - not far from city centre - breakfast - 24 hours coffee

Review 108:Breakfast might have been bigger.

Review 109:Friendly and helpfull staff. Clean. Close to city centre.

Review 110:Staff, free tea and coffee, nice breakfast and clean room

Review 111:Breakfast was plenty and delicious; tea and coffee for free :) It was very close to the city center and to the local Jumbo supermarket.

Review 112:The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating

Review 113:Impossible to sleep between 3am and 6am because of screaming of drunk guys.

Review 114:The bed was really uncomfortable.

Review 115:Helpful and pleasant staff, the location is great.

Review 116:Nothing

Review 117:The staff was very flexible and extremely helpful. Great people.

Review 118:Staff members are really welcoming and so nice, you should definitely meet them!

Review 119:convenient location helpful and friendly staff

Review 120:It was a little boring and a bit expensive for the kind of accommodation.

Review 121:It's a nice place, comfortable and a tractive.

Review 122:The staff was great! Friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. This was our favorite part of the trip

Review 123:Induction stoves...

Review 124:Wonderful staff

Review 125:Very nice hostel, clean and confortable. Staff is kind.
