Reviews for Hotel MyStays Nagoya-Sakae

Review 1:Too far to walk from nearest station especially at night. There was no info of the hotel at the subway station map. Had to use google map to direct us.

Review 2:The hotel facilities

Review 3:There is no closet and the room is kinda not sound proof. Thought we heard a crying puppy.

Review 4:I like the fact that it is near the key places in Sakae, Nagoya.

Review 5:One of the staffs was not very friendly and polite when I asked for leaving my luggage at front desk before check-in time. Everything else is pretty good other than that.

Review 6:It was a short stay however the room was very comfortable, clean and quite spacious for a Japanese Hotel room. Location was 10 mins walk to Sakae station and lots of eating places around. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 7:The walk from the station was about 10mins. Aircon was centralized, we have no control over the temperature in our room. Room is quite small, no space to open up my big luggage.

Review 8:Comfortable and clean room though it is a bit small. Basic amenities are provided. There are 2 types of pillows to choose from, both are comfortable. Coin laundry machines are available.

Review 9:I always bring my small pillow whenever i travel. When we came back to our room at night, its gone.

Review 10:Location.10 minute walk to oasis 21 and sakae station

Review 11:The location is bad if coming from train station.

Review 12:If you are first time traveller to Nagoya by train its difficult to locate the hotel because its not found in the map at the subway. We have to compare the japanese character at the map and the address of the hotel in our voucher. Twas really difficult. Good that my daughter is really smart to do that way. Its advisable not to book at this hotel if you are going to nagoya by train, unless you can read japanese characters.

Review 13:The card key malfunction several times. It was warm inside the room in spite of the aircon unit. There are too few TV channels to choose from.

Review 14:Bed sheets are changed daily. Rooms we used are clean. Staff speak English pretty well.

Review 15:+ Family mart is very near, only 20m. from Hotel front door. + The way from Subway to the hotel is 15 min walk, but this is an attractive road. You'll feel like it take a few min to the Hotel.

Review 16:The location in Nagoya was excellent, well within reach of shops and the metro. Given the location the rooms were very quiet. The hotel staff were polite and accommodating and the rooms larger than we expected and cleaned every day. There was a bonus having a washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave to use. We were very pleased and found the hotel very good value for money.

Review 17:Attentive and helpful staff. Good location in Sakae. Near restaurants and convenience store. Not to far from train station and fast wifi connection.

Review 18:Nothing to comment here.

Review 19:The location around Sakae was very convenient and easy to navigate. Close to train station and shops and food. Bed was very comfortable and the room is always clean.

Review 20:the room was only averagely clean. i dropped the access card behind the bed and when i went to collect it my hand was covered with dust that had been there for a long time, the toilet and tub could also use a good scrub.

Review 21:the hotel was well located, the staff was polite and helpful when we had a small hiccup.

Review 22:Cant control the air cond.so the room feels too hot, even though its freezing cold outside. Cant open the window for some air

Review 23:The staff are friendly, the room is clean though a bit small (might be cramped if you have big luggage)

Review 24:Very small room, especially with big luggage, but having in mind the low price nothing to complain about.

Review 25:Great location, within about 5-10 minutes walking distance to Sakae. Friendly staff, comfortable bed, clean room

Review 26:No English Channels, even CNN was voiced over.:/

Review 27:The staff was great as always. The breakfast was incredible! Yum!!!! I've stayed there three times and every time is even better than I remember the last time.:)

Review 28:45 o 1 hour walk to USO shopping mall, where you can buy cheap and reasonable price for all kinds of goods, food, accessories, etc

Review 29:clean, near to all shopping mall, nice place (not crowded), 5 minutes walk to Sakae station), 3 minutes walk to limousine bus (airport bus)

Review 30:The receptionists, in particular the lady on our check-in day in the afternoon and the guy that worked in the late evening. They are rude in the sense that they are impatient, unwelcoming and emotionless in helping us with our questions and checking in. By the way, don't try to apologise because it would be useless, this is definitely not the first complain about the staffs. Please fix it before you sincerely apologise to your customers in regards to the bad performance of your staffs.

Review 31:Almost everything but definitely not the receptionists.

Review 32:My room had some stains on the wall. Not sure why staff left stains there. It makes guests doubt quality of housekeeping.

Review 33:Overall, I am OK with this one.

Review 34:- It's quite hot, seems like the air conditioner doesn't work well. I need to open the window in the night time.

Review 35:- Location - Reasonable price

Review 36:Hotel was nice and clean. The little touches like a freshner spray for the winter jackets was very thoughtful.location was not too far from subway too.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:Location - it was a little far from the subway especially with heavy luggage, but right next to the bus stop for the 1,200 yen limousine bus to Centrair! Ask the reception for the bus schedule as the one on the Centrair's english website is not updated with the latest timings. It is also right opposite a huge drug store where I could buy all my cosmetics and skin care and only need to spend more than 5,000 yen to claim tax free. Awesome! Staff - The reception staff were very friendly with a good command of English Amenities - The free to take moisturisers, shavers, combs, etc are very useful Room - Clean and relatively roomy for Japanese standards

Review 39:Air flow of the room was not enough. Very noisy at night, including sound of cars outside and those from other rooms.

Review 40:The bed was large enough for 2 ppl. Not that far from the metro.

Review 41:The train stations are not luggage-friendly. I had hard time carrying my luggage up and down the stairs.

Review 42:Nagoya is a beautiful but quiet city compare to Tokyo. I love the nagoya castle.

Review 43:Some members of the personnel are not very good at English. Not enough space for clothes in the number (definitely there is space for one more hanger, it would be better to install it even though it might impair the number's design)

Review 44:Very polite personnel. Well-equipped with all modern facilities and clean number. Reasonable price/quality ratio.

Review 45:The hotel's parking space is not good for full size car. You will be advised to park at CBC car parks hitch is ~200m away if you are driving a full size car.

Review 46:Located in the centre of town. A lot of eateries nearby. Room size is small, but considered ok compared to other hotels nearby.

Review 47:Everything was great. I liked everything in the hotel.

Review 48:Location was good. Lots of convenience stores nearby. 15 min walk to the subway and City center.

Review 49:Met one rude Japanese stayer at the laundromat who was quite rude, choosing not to communicate their source of unhappiness instead displaying it through his action. Most others were polite. If you are paying discounted price, you are put into a smoking room, no choice for non smoking room.

Review 50:Location and value for money when it has discounted price.

Review 51:Once you reach the guest floor one will notice the ceiling is very low. And The room is super tiny that our luggage cant be opened. It was claustrophobic. I bòoked my parents for almost same price in another hotel via booking.com and their room is big and comfy. Wrong decision to go to MyStays.

Review 52:We liked the facilities like the laundry room and pantry. There is ice and microwave so we can eat meals properly.

Review 53:The super double room was very small with almost no space to put our suitcases. You cannot adjust the air conditioner temperature and it was automatically switched to heating. It was November, but very warm outside, so the room was too hot. Sleeping with an open window wasn't possible because of the loud traffic noise (that's no problem with the window closed).

Review 54:Clean room for a good price, not too far from the main station, friendly staff. JR line in walking distance (convenient if you have a Japan Rail Pass).

Review 55:the air conditioner, only low, medium & high to adjust toilet is too small subway is far away, walk about 15 mins

Review 56:comfortable bed and pillow complete facility good soundproof environment is quiet

Review 57:Rooms typical of rooms in Japan small. Yet they made up fort this by providing guests with unlimited toiletries such as soap ans lotions.

Review 58:It's my second time to stay here. Staff were courteous and would not hesitate to help you. Very accomodating. Location is perfect for my needs.

Review 59:1) It uses central air conditioning and we were unable to change the temperature. This was a big issue as the room was way too hot to even have a good night rest. 2) As the hotel is just beside the major highway, there was persistent noise from the road. Though we are both not light sleepers, we could not sleep a wink. Now, we will learn to look for out such details during our future travels.

Review 60:Pillows too hard, expressway in front of the window. Not noisy enough to hinder sleep (good sound insulation) but you can still hear it.

Review 61:Nice buffet, good location close to subway.

Review 62:This area has some KTV so may look sleazy at night but we do not feel unsafe. Sakae station is two stops from Main Nagoya station and is ten minutes walk back to the hotel. When you have a long walking day, you had wish your hotel is just across the station but I suppose you will have to pay much more for the same quality of hotel.

Review 63:We are very happy using booking.com in Japan as all the hotels we booked in Japan take our requests seriously and give us what we want. From Sakae station, look for exit 5 and walk out of station for 20m then turn left and head straight about 500m to reach the hotel. We have a quiet room in the corner on a high floor. The beds are very comfortable with 2 pillows for each bed (rare) and the twin room is very spacious. There is a huge tax free shop (above 5000 Yen) across the hotel where I can buy all the beauty products. Sakae has many shopping mall and is about ten minutes from the hotel.

Review 64:It was 10 min-walk far from the subway and hard to find.

Review 65:The staffs were so nice. I've lost the room card but it has not asked me to pay. There were free of taking the soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, facial wash, toner, lotion...

Review 66:Room had a weird smell and was very HOT! Air con must have been broken, because it didn't cool the room down at all. No hair dryer in the room was a bit inconvenient.

Review 67:Friendly staff, decent sized room, pretty clean

Review 68:No frills hotel that was clean, comfortable and conveniently located to many restaurants, bars and the subway/train stations. I would definitely use again.

Review 69:Breakfast was quiet sober. Triple rooms were large enough, but double rooms were really small. Bathroom was very basic.

Review 70:Decent hotel, but nothing special. Parking nearby possible (they can give you discount). Breakfast cheaper if paid upfront.

Review 71:The room that was booked for us was filthy as we found plenty of ants and their eggs when we moved the tv to get a good angle facing the bed but they apologised and moved us to another room straight away. The hotel room was very small for 2 people and their tv was small, too. Quite far from the train station.

Review 72:Close to shops and restaurants. Room rates were very cheap. Loved the shower and the water pressure. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 73:I travelled to Nagoya from Tokyo for the sake of WINNER concert. I booked this hotel because the location was near to Aichi Art Theatre and Sakae subway. The staff was very nice and the room was comfortable enough. It has almost every facility that you need.

Review 74:Requested a non-smoking room and was given a non-smoking room. But it smelled like cigarette smoke. The room's window could not be opened because of it's location. When I called the front desk to complain about the smell, I was told to use the air freshener spray and air purifier, which did not help get rid of the smell.

Review 75:Hard to find location after departing from Sakae subway station. Thankfully one staff person spoke a bit of English and tried his best to give me directions when I telephoned. If the website could give clearer directions my search would have been less stressful.

Review 76:It's half way between two subway stations, so you gotta walk half a stop.

Review 77:Excellent hotel all around, nice lobby all the way to the bed. Super comfy bed with 3 choices of pillows; flat, firm, or memory foam! Walking distance to the popular Sakae district. Love this 'MyStays' chain, surely my top choice to stay in Japanese major cities.

Review 78:The staff was very friendly, the room was always in perfect order. When I had a problem with the pay-per-view movies, I called the reception and they sent someone to repair it ASAP.

Review 79:The rooms are very small and had a strange smell (non-smoking).The bathroom is old and needs a renovation. The hotel is located on a very busy crossroad and the rooms are very noisy.

Review 80:Location. About 10 minutes from Subway.

Review 81:Comparing this MyStays to the one I was staying at Tokyo (Asakusa), this was far more comfortable. Pretty good location in the middle of the way to 2 subway lines.

Review 82:Would appreciate if the hotel can arrange shuttle bus to to and from Nagoya station to match with tourists bus schedule, so that would be much convenience for traveller as well as guess they can take any transportations to different area of near by cities.

Review 83:A very convenient location, room was clean and quiet, professional staff to make my trip more easy

Review 84:15 to 20 minutes walk to the nearest subway station. Bus number 16 comes every 45 minutes.

Review 85:The hotel lent us umbrellas when it rained :) Hotel is located within Sakae- shopping & restuarant district.

Review 86:Bathtub was loose, bathroom was probably not renovated. Wifi code was required all the time again.

Review 87:Clean rooms in general, the hotel has been refurbished recently. Pillows are comfy!

Review 88:Our room was very dusty. Made the mistake of looking under the bed.

Review 89:Room service left us a bag of clean towels every day when we had our do not disturb sign up.

Review 90:Breakfast was not included in the package and it cost ¥1.100 (if you pay in advance) or ¥1.600 at the restaurant.

Review 91:The location of the hotel is near everything.

Review 92:The use of lighting in individual rooms. They should use warm lighting instead of 'white' lights which make the room less cosy.

Review 93:Location of the hotel and the politeness of staff

Review 94:Needs to log in wifi everytime Rooms are a bit small Breakfast is a bit expensive

Review 95:The price- you could not bet! Many different kinds of shops nearby- and they open till midnight! Clean rooms

Review 96:The Wifi constantly needed you to type in a pin code to access it (not to be confused with the actual WiFi password), and they were quite a long and confusing walk away from the train station. Easy to find when you know which direction to walk, but it is still a long walk.

Review 97:The staff were amazing, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and it had a decent view!

Review 98:The noisiest hotel I've stayed at in 40 years. Hands down. Even alerted the front desk, on into 3 or 4am, and it didn't help. People jumping around above us, kids in the hall every 5 minutes leaking through the front door, terrible. Deal-breaker for the future. We won't be back.

Review 99:Location is terrific, central to a lot going on in Nagoya.

Review 100:A little bit far from the station for kids to walk Very small room Adult videos pamphlets. Make sure your children don't see those if you don't want to end up in an awkward situation trying to explain what porn is

Review 101:Lots of shops from the nearest station to the hotel

Review 102:Not very sound proof even with windows shut. We could also hear some noise from the corridors especially early in the morning.

Review 103:Conveniently located for sightseeing. We walked everywhere but the subway is easy to navigate. We booked this hotel early and got a very cheap room rate. As a family of 5 the staff gave us 3 rooms on the same floor as requested which was very appreciated.

Review 104:When we arrived, the bathroom is a little bit dirty but still ok. No wifi inside the room too :(

Review 105:It's 10-15 minutes walk to the nearest subway station and the hotel is just right in the middle of the city so it's really easy to get food especially with konbini beside the hotel :)

Review 106:Breakfast (not included in tariff) was expensive and not good value in comparison with other hotels of this type (probably much better for Japanese breakfast). There was a smell of tobacco smoke in the corridor even though my room was non-smoking. Clearly, not the entire floor was.

Review 107:Great location and clean, functional room.

Review 108:There is no prominent sign showing the name of the hotel in the front except the blue name board on the building top high in the roof.

Review 109:This hotel is located at great and wonderful place. Every facilities could be found in the nearby area. Access to the famous places was also excellent.

Review 110:Our floor was a bit smelly and dirty which pervaded the room somewhat. Very basic hotel and amenities.

Review 111:Convenient location. Although cab driver couldn't find it. Apparently it had changed name recently.

Review 112:Great (and cheap) stop for sightseeing, most suited for visiting nearby museums, restaurants, local events. The hotel mainly offers a place to spend the night and go out during the day to explore the city (not very recommended for those who spend the whole day inside)

Review 113:it took a bit of walking to get to the nearest subway station

Review 114:the restaurant across the street is open 24 hours, very affordable and serve really good food. there was also a store that sells personal care items on the opposite side that closes really late.

Review 115:Far from station and rate was very and low which I paid the higher rate and other guest was staying one third of the price I paid. Over all not good experience.

Review 116:Cleanliness of room

Review 117:The rooms were a little noisy, any activity in corridor outside easily heard. Bathroom toilet wasn't as clean as it should have been...

Review 118:Clean, simple lobby, good value, excellent breakfast!

Review 119:Internet was somewhat restrictive. We had to log in and enter the password every single time we used gadgets. If we leave the gadgets for 5 min then it required us to enter the password again and that was annoying. Also it was quite a walk from the Sakae subway station especially in rain.

Review 120:Although breakfast was not included in the plan, we could purchase the breakfast ticket upon arrival (1,100 yen a person). Breakfast buffet was very nice with broad choice of hot food both western and Japanese, including the local food of Nagoya.

Review 121:Room though non smoking smelled of smoke. Even with the window closed we could hear the traffic below.

Review 122:Location was perfect for Sumo Basho. We walked everywhere. As requested we were given three rooms on the same floor. We requested upper floor and were given rooms on the 8th floor which is pretty good.

Review 123:Noise on the halls. Some of staff did not speaks English very well. TV does not have English channels.

Review 124:Beautiful hotel. Free various toiletries. Close to Family Mart. Good value for money because we obtain a very good discount.

Review 125:The room is very small. Keep this in mind if you are staying more than 1 or 2 nights or have luggage. You can just get around bed and no hanging space. But for the price and location it is great!

Review 126:If your looking for a short stay and with minimal luggage then select this hotel. Great value for money, perfect location and breakfast good for price.

Review 127:Rooms are very clean and housekeeping staff are polite. Many convenience stores around and about 10 - 15mins walk to the underground shopping street which connects to the subway.

Review 128:Check-in can only be done at 2pm sharp.

Review 129:Clean & nice hotel. Value for money definitely. Location is really good! Near many good eateries & shopping. Near Sakae Station so easy to get to Nagoya Station, Osu shopping street & Nagoya Castle.

Review 130:Bed a bit hard. Staff altitude cool and not friendly! No luggage storage service over 2 days even though we return and stayed there!

Review 131:Location is perfect with lots of restaurant nearby

Review 132:I know japanese culture quite well because I graduate from Japanese university. I have visited japan over 30 times in 5 years. Every time I got very excellent experiences from very kind and helpful from the hotel staffs. I have never had bad experience like what I found. There are many polite ways to speak to the guest what it is prohibit to do but the staff did not do it. Please provide prohibit sign. I will not come back this hotel again.

Review 133:Free Wifi

Review 134:Hard to connect Wifi, bathroom have a smell. During check in room is dusty. Far from sakae station. If you travel with big luggage please think twice to book. Unless u go there by taxi. When I check out I have to opt for taxi to Nagoya station due to the size of my luggage.

Review 135:Room size and bed.
