Reviews for Scandic Elmia

Review 1:We were three adults and just payed for a 4-bed room as standard. It was quite high price. The hotel should be able to adjust the price based on the number of guests, as we didn't use the facility and breakfast for the fourth person.

Review 2:The breakfast was fantastic!

Review 3:This hotel is not actually in Jönköping ! Don't believe Google maps, either ! It's a good 5km. from the center !! (Good transport links, however) Nearest atm is 20mins walk across main road, next to library, or short bus ride. Get a giant map of area from reception ! Another Scandic hotel spoiled by 'cut backs'. No kettle in room, bath tub (except in suites ) or free beverages in lobby. It's the little things that make a good stay into a great stay !!

Review 4:Nice, large, warm, comfy room. Staff very helpful, with good English. Good frukost, with wide and varied choice, for longer stays. Freshly squeezed juices !! Finishes early, though, so 'get in' !! Good choice of tv channels and good fast wifi and good guest computer (after I fixed it !) Car themed hotel with amazing carpet maps ! Only fair value. Handy for konserthus !

Review 5:The hotel was further out of town than we expected. Although the 'beach 'was a nice walk it was another 5-10 minutes to the sandy beach.

Review 6:The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing although the pickled fish could maybe be in am odour proof container. The balcony was a nice extra. However our Neighbours were up early and smoking and talking very loudly. As we needed the windows open as it was stuffy the smoke came into our room and woke us up. Not much you can do about that except maybe some air conditioning perhaps.

Review 7:The room we booked was not given to us. It was a late check in and I did not bother. The toilet seat was broken, so squatting was the option, because it was late, I didn't want to bother changing rooms, and the stay was just for one night while passing through town. The next time booking I will give a second thought and have doubts prior to booking with the Scandic chain.

Review 8:The breakfast was good

Review 9:There was not enough space in family room. Rooms in main building has better standard than in extention... Opposite our room were utility and storage rooms...

Review 10:Excellent location! Good breakfast! Free bicycles!

Review 11:The chair in the room was stained ,with what I'm not sure, and I don't think I want to know. Many things not topped up on the breakfast buffet and some cutlery missing also.

Review 12:Scandic is basic but good for families with kids and excellent for pets.My Jack Russell terrier really appreciated having her own blanket, food bowl and "Pet in room" sign....really nice touch.Breakfast was good and the room and bathroom were well equipped.Reception staff were pleasant and helpful.

Review 13:The food in the restaurant. We arrived at 9pm and the buffet was very sad looking so much so I couldn't face eating any of it. Service was also hit and miss. I suggest going the 4km to the city centre and finding a local place to eat.

Review 14:The rooms are compact and very comfortable. Open plan lounge area with work stations, bar and restaurant.

Review 15:The lounge/bar area could be more inspiring...and a glass of mediocre wine is too expensive...very limited selection of beer, wine and cider. The effect is that the bar/lounge gives a rather desolete impression.

Review 16:The hotel is perfectly located if you're traveling by car, close to the E4 and large parking lot. Of course even better located if you're visiting an Elmia event or watching a HV71 game... WiFi works well (as in most Scandic hotels). Good breakfast with excellent selection including hot dishes, and acceptable restaurant in the evening.

Review 17:1. Rooms were extremely hot! and could not open the windows. A small 4 inch vented louver on the edge of the window was insufficient! 1st room they put us in there was a balcony but it was under repair so couldn't open the door for air. One very nice maid lady offered to get us a very small fan and told us that there were actually a few rooms in the complex that had windows that opened but they were all full.2. Asked to change rooms. Said there weren't any and then they they changed their mind and we were told there was a room and was charged an additional 800kr for the room - above the 1962kr ($300) what we had already paid - and that was with a special "teenager rate." I was too hot and tired to argue at the time so just paid it and said "as long as we can open the windows!"3. When we got into the new room, the windows didn't open there either! The garbage can was full and there were toe nail clippings on the floor in the bathroom and hair on the shower drain.4.. Hotel restaurant was very expensive for what it was. Over $100 (671kr) for the 4 of us to have the buffet, and it wasn't that great. We were told that soft drinks were included but apparently they were not and were charged around $4 each - for an individual bottle of pop.5. Next door to a hockey facility that had shady people hanging out all night long. We took everything out of our car at night.6. Breakfast was almost like a game of hockey! There wasn't enough food and it wasn't refilled often enough. Most of the serving dishes were empty. People were dodging in and around each other trying to get at what little was out. We came earlier both mornings to avoid the rush and it was the same both mornings.7. The Wifi was spotty and kept dropping all the time.8. As we were leaving, they insisted that we had ordered cheese and crackers and charged them to our daughters' room the 1st night we were there.

Review 18:There was an older maid lady who was very nice. The carpeting in the hallways looked like a road with various sites around Sweden along it. It was rather interesting.

Review 19:Free bikes, yes but only two, we were 4 persons. They show a pool in the brouchure but the hotel has no pool. There is a sports centre close to the hotel with the pool and you must pay for it, if you want to go to the pool, obviously.

Review 20:Fiendly staff.

Review 21:we ordered a family room and payed it in advance.we got 2 rooms,so we had to split our family to those rooms.as we got to scandic hotel in jöngköping we received again a small 3 bedroom; they squeezed the 4 th bed in this little toom.it was not that comfortable. we are happy, that we didnt order more scandic hotels at our sweden trip!

Review 61:So close to Elmia, makes it easily worth the money. Hotel looks really good, and is. Tasty food (breakfast, dinner). Room was beautiful and just big enough for two! I will return here if I ever want to travel back to Elmia for the DreamHack event.

Review 62:This hotel should be avoided during its reconstruction period. I had a ill smelling room in the basement with people starting their rebuilding work at 07.00 on the floor above me

Review 63:We arrived late in the evening and got the room that was uncleaned and unprepeared. Then we asked to change it and got the room with 2 separate beds, not as we booked. There is building works in the hotel and in the nearest area so that was not nice at all.

Review 64:High priced and old rooms. The rooms are being renovated though and the work should be done by the end of 2013. The gym could be better equipped.

Review 65:Very close to Elmia which was handy. Had nice buffet lunch and dinner. Quite close to Bondberget which is a beautiful nature reserve with walking tracks and huge old oaks.

Review 66:The restaurant and quality of food is good but the options could be better.
