Reviews for Sapporo Aspen Hotel
Review 1:location was great. like the gift shop inside hotel, u can find basic all the stuff u want to get from sapporo over there, very handy, even it is not duty free shop.
Review 2:Location is really good, easy to spot, just less than 5 mins walk from JR station. It was a family room for 4. Toilet and bathroom are separated. In Japan only japanese tea is offerred in the hotel room, if you like coffee, bring you own.
Review 3:Old fashioned style. Kettle, fridge & tea/coffee supplied but no milk. Availability of breakfast not obvious or promoted.
Review 4:Central location close to Sapporo JR station. Clean and functional rooms.
Review 5:Really great location. Just near the Sapporo station. The room was tidy and nice. Everything you would need was provided in the room. There were quite a lot choices for breakfast. I'm really glad I chose Aspen to stay in during my trip in Sapporo. :-)
Review 6:Spacious room by Japanese standard with lots of facilities provided, even pyjamas! The room also has a toilet with bidet which is very useful and easy for us to wash.
Review 7:All TV channels are Japanese Channels. Adding a few English language channels would be good.
Review 8:Only about 200m away from Sapporo station and accessible through an underground walkway from the station, which is a privilege especially during the cold winter periods! Also, wifi signal is strong as they have different wifi spots for every hotel level! That is what I call excellent wifi service! Also, they have a souvenir shop at the hotel lobby, with similar prices to those omiyage shops in Sapporo! Very thoughtful especially for tourist with limited time in Sapporo.
Review 9:This hotel had an excellent location two blocks from Sapporo Station, where you can get the subway, JR trains, buses, and there's an underground walkway to Odori Park. The beds and pillows were soft and we had great water pressure in the shower. The room was big for Japan and had a small refrigerator plus table and two chairs.
Review 10:The room is old and not spacious. Breakfast not really attractive.
Review 11:The location is really good. But there is another hotel above the JR station even more convenient and newer and about the same price!
Review 12:Weekend rates are pretty high, around 50% more than weekday rate.
Review 13:Hotel staff were friendly. Hotel and room design is old but they are in good shape and well-maintained. Room was cleaned promptly. Breakfast buffet is great with both continental and Japanese spread. Location is on the quieter side of Sapporo station, but it's only a 3-minute walk to the station, so it's still fine. There is convenience store about 2 mins' walk away.
Review 14:If you don't ski, facilities are limited, besides the onsen, there isn't much else to do. Very busy hotel but that's to be expected.
Review 15:Outdoor onsen was amazing, very convenient ski in ski out facilities as well as having your own allocated locker in the ski room, good breakfast spread in dining hall with lovely views and friendly, helpful staff. Complimentary bus shuttle service was very useful.
Review 16:Can hardly think of.
Review 17:Best hotel among the hotels I have stayed in Sapporo. Location, very near to the north gate of JR Sapporo station. Clean room and nice buffet breakfast. Reasonable room rate. Kind and helpful staff.
Review 18:Hotel is very close to the station but a bit far from central part of the city
Review 19:Best breakfast I had in Japan. Large variety for both myself and my Asian friend. very close to Sapporo station
Review 20:One of the reasons i selected this hotel was the availability of coin laundry. However this was usually very crowded. Maybe there should be more machines available
Review 21:Near to sapporo jr station
Review 22:Location was excellent. There's a entrance to Sapporo station right across the street. Plenty of 7-11, Family Mart around for late night snacks. Bed was big and very comfortable. Room size is pretty big for Japan.
Review 23:Check-in and check-out process is quick. There is an English speaking staff which helps in communication. Rooms are clean and the location of the hotel is a short walk from Sapporo train station and there are 2 convenient stores nearby.
Review 24:Because we arrived late and could not speak Japanese we felt isolated on our first night. There was a convenience store on next corner so we didn't starve. More information in English would have been helpful.
Review 25:Position to Sapporo Station and the breakfast
Review 26:The hotel is just 5 minute walk from the JR station, probably the closest hotel. it is no non sense hotel - nothing fancy but has all you need for a comfortable stay. I like the breakfast, the attentiveness of the housekeeping and the friendliness of the staff. Coin laundry is an added value.
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:Good location, steps away from the Sapporo Main Station. Spacious room, polite reception and housekeeping. Will recommend and also stay again.
Review 29:No negatives whatsoever.
Review 30:Fantastic hotel. Great location, just across from the JR station and with several convenience stores just a minute's walk away. We stayed for 7 nights at the beginning of our trip (in a queen room) and again on the final night (twin room). Rooms clean and tidy, comfortable and with enough room for bags and the portacot. Beds comfortable. Nice city views from windows. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Coin laundry on 5th floor made travelling with kids a little easier. Breakfast buffet was delicious, with cereal, toast, pancakes, eggs and plenty of Japanese breakfast foods too. They had high chair and kids cutlery and plates. Would definitely recommend a stay here and we will stay here again if we are in Sapporo. Great value for money.
Review 31:Excellent location, could come back during the day to drop things off, mysterious noises in the night, very roomy for Japanese hotel. Aircon too warm no way of cooling, open window too noisy.
Review 32:Lack of facilities Poor view out of room window even from 10th floor
Review 33:Friendly staff Excellent location Cleanliness Room well stocked .....and a night dress for both men and women...NOT a yukata, a night dress.
Review 34:The staff did not help with luggage AT ALL when they walked us from parking lot to the hotel. No help AT ALL and just watched my husband handled 4 luggages alone!
Review 35:Bed is very big and the baby crib is comfortable for my 2 years old son
Review 36:Sapporo itself is not a traditional Japanese city and was somewhat bland.
Review 37:The location was great for sight seeing--both in Sapporo and by using the train, which was only a 2 minute walk away. The breakfast was filling and the staff was friendly. The autumn festival at Odori park was happening during our stay, which was a great place to sample a lot of different food and drink.
Review 38:The hotel was within sight of the rail station and right next to the university, both of which were perfect for me. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet offered a lot of western and Japanese choices.
Review 39:Convenient location. One block from the North exit of the Sapporo JR station. One block from the main gate of the Hokkaido University and 30 minute walk through the underground walkway from JR Station to Odori Park.
Review 40:Nothing.
Review 41:Everything good, location close to JR Sapporo station is convenient. Room decent size and shower has good power. Staff helpful by giving directions and lending us an umbrella for the day. Can only recommend.
Review 42:Service curt & business like. No English Map even for hotel location to surrounding area ! A morning check out staff ( in his early 30's is out to be rude ) when we check out on 22nd Aug @ 6.45am !
Review 43:Location. Diagonally across from JR. station & Sapporo Station; & JR. Viewing Tower. Huge shopping mall link to the 2 stations. Above ground connection to the stations.
Review 44:Location is very good, around 5 mins from train station. Convenient to find restaurant, especially for supper. Many convenience store nearby. Easy to find.
Review 45:Nothing I can think off .
Review 46:Excellence location, saw it the moment I stepped out from Sapporo Station North exit. Very helpful staff, has been trying to add 1 addition night earlier than what u have booked for the last 3 weeks with no success. The staff re-checked and within a few minutes she found a available room so that I can return to Sapporo 1 day earlier than previously plan.
Review 47:Only stayed 1 night but it was a comfortable stay. The room comes with 4 single beds and is spacious. Toilet, bathroom and washbasins are separate compartments so no cramping for multiple occupants, also the staff are really polite and helpful.
Review 48:- Need to leave room key at reception
Review 49:- Close to the JR train station and bus terminal. Easy access to the airport and other places in Hokkaido via JR - Rooms are quite large (by Japanese standard)
Review 50:Everthing is great except one night there were dirty clothes which may leaving by the previous guest in our shower room. Bad experience...
Review 51:Convenience places and comfortable room!
Review 52:The bedroom is very comfortable. The location is great as it is just opposite the main train station. Everything is very convenient. The staff is helpful and polite.
Review 53:Double beds are a good size but quite hard.
Review 54:Location - very close to Sapporo station perfect base for exploring city & for travel to nearby destinations (eg Otaru)
Review 55:Very dated hotel. Although clean, the hallways, carpets, toilet had a musty smell to it.
Review 56:The hotel was very kind to make inquiries and a booking at some very popular restaurants prior to arrival in Sapporo.
Review 57:Veryminor. Hotel a little dated...still using keys instead of key card.
Review 58:Location is good. Very near Sapporo JR station. Hotel is a little dated but very comfortable. Would stay again!
Review 59:If the airport limousine could stop in front of the hotel, this is a great plus for passengers with heavy luggages but since the hotel is only about a few minutes walk away from the JR station, this doesn't really matter.
Review 60:After traveling for 6 days and going to Osaka after this journey, the coin operated launderette really is a great help.
Review 61:We did ran into some problems with our booking when we wanted to shorten our stay from 4 nights to 3 nights. In the end we had to change our travel plans for our stay in Sapporo,
Review 62:Great Location, clean rooms. Our 2nd visit, and we are not disappointed.
Review 63:TV is not working. Provided leather-like slipper with slipper sheets instead of disposable ones. The slipper sheets came off very easily.
Review 64:Pretty spacious for solo traveller at its price.
Review 65:The bed was too soft! I had backaches sleeping on it for 6nights.
Review 66:It's really a five minute walk from Sapporo JR station! Don't have trouble looking for the hotel at all! The staff were so friendly and fluent in English! Rooms are big and clean and they are so thoughtful! There's even linen freshener! I'm impressed! After a few days the staff could recognise us and they were always there to help. I really appreciate that!
Review 67:- Common areas stink like smoke, including elevators, although room and floor did not smell
Review 68:- Staff very efficient and nice - Close to station - Room clean and comfortable
Review 69:Staff was extremely nice and helpful, given wrong room at first but we were allowed to stay in it anyway (better room than booked). Only there one night, would stay again!

Review 72:i choose 3beds room' room . 2beds are real bed but another1 is sofa and cover with bed sheet(butcompare with price i still satisfied with it)
Review 73:they transfered all of luggage into the room that i already check in
Review 74:Single rooms are small in comparison with other Japanese hotels same standards. A little impersonal hotel due to its large size.
Review 75:its location is very convenient, staff very courteous, large hotel, very good wifi, works well even in rooms.
Review 76:Nothing really , not for budget travelers.
Review 77:This hotel is within 5mins of Sapporo main station. Our room was quite big for a standard room. Great breakfast variety.
Review 78:The guy at breakfast buffet was very rude and didn't know what the meaning of service mind.
Review 79:Good location Free bath boom Friendly staff at lobby, very helpful
Review 80:No fan in bathroom, feel humidity after shower
Review 81:When snowstorm coming, right beside the JR station is most important condition, 3 mins walk only. Security is good, Need to leave room key at the reception when u go out. Staff is helpful on English.
Review 82:It only takes 1 or 2 staff to make your experience one that stays with you forever...and not always in a good way.
Review 83:It was very close to Sapporo station. Easy to get around anywhere.
Review 84:I stayed twice - once with my family and shared a twin room. Great size and good sized bathroom and once by myself. Smaller room but still good facilities. Convenience to station,
Review 85:Location was very close to train station making everything accessible, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This was our 3rd stay here and will definitely stay again.
Review 86:If there is a set or two of disposable chopstick and spoon in the room will be good.
Review 87:Location was good, very near to JR Sapporo Station, with lots of shopping and restaurants/eating places. Front desk staff was nice and very helpful. Will definitely return.
Review 88:None
Review 89:Location Location Location 5mins from Sapporo Hotel. If weather is harsh, you can access the hotel via underground tunnel. Offer both western or Japanese breakfast
Review 90:Helpful English speaking staffs. Clean rooms. Yummy breakfast with good selection. Less than 10min from Sapporo station. Opposite hotel has yakitori restaurant if u r interested. Very convenient.
Review 91:The minus point was only the air-conditioning system in our rooms.
Review 92:Besides our above rated items, it was an unexpected of such a large and very comfortable bedroom came with a very good breakfast with such a reasonable price. Counter staff provided us excellent traveling pointers and advice whenever we asked.
Review 93:The close proximity to the JR station and subway. Appreciated the care and concern of the staff when they heard that one of my friends had a bad fall. They volunteered their services should we need assistance with language when consulting a doctor.
Review 94:The hotel is quite old style, the room price is pretty expensive for 3 persons with twin room + breakfast is included.
Review 95:Breakfast and facilities in the room are great! It's near JR Sapporo station just 2 mins walk.
Review 96:I called hotel to check if my 13yr old son returned safely. the staff didn't understand English and I had to explain to 3 people before they got an English speaking staff to talk to me. Imagine my international phone bill! Double bed too small for 2 people. we can't turn without disturbing our partner.
Review 97:Rooms are cleaned.
Review 98:Place need to be upgraded . Room aircon a bit stuffy, need to open window for fresh air.
Review 99:Great location Got English speaking staff to help in my early transfer to airport.
Review 100:Location is good. It is convenient to visit lots of sight-seeing spots on foot. JR station, department stores are all in the vicinity. The size of the room is big as compared to other hotels in the city.
Review 101:The hotel Manager and guy at front desk with glasses were not helpful at all. I will not come back to the hotel simply because of the poor altitude from these two guys.
Review 102:room size, bed, clean, location
Review 103:The only setback is the room facility. It looks old and the rest of things are not up to our expectation.
Review 104:We stayed here for 2 nights. Location is superb as it is just 3 mins away of walking distance to Sapporo Station.
Review 105:The carpark charges were not properly explained on the first day. Was charged an additional day of parking for 2 plus hours of late check out.
Review 106:Near to JR station. Eateries around.
Review 107:Stayed a total of 5nights, with a one night break in between to go to Asahikawa. Good that they had left luggage facility. Very convenient to the JR station, since we used Sapporo as a base for exploring Asahikawa, Otaru, Chitose Outlet Mall and for taking the train to the Airport. The major tourist sites all within a 15-20mins walk radius. The JR station itself a mecca for shopping with a good range of eating options.
Review 108:Coffee at breakfast is the only thing that should be criticised...
