Review 1：Poor choice of food and wine at the restaurant by the swimming pool. We had a pizza which was good, but were unable to get a reasonably priced glass/bottle of wine to have with it. Nice facility but needs a revamp.

Review 4：Antananarivo is a severely impoverished city...it was heartbreaking to see so many children left to fend for themselves. As you might imagine this isn't really much of a "tourist destination" In fact the hotel we had originally booked ended up being somewhat dark and well...abandoned!...with windows that didn't close and no screens (not really ideal in such a high malaria zone) So, we searched Booking.com and found The Carlton The hotel was clean, safe (it's gated and guarded) and the staff was unbelievably warm and friendly!...;-)))
Review 5：Despite the "safe" feeling within the hotel, there was a lack of feeling as if we were actually in Madagascar and perhaps could have been anywhere
Review 6：We had originally booked a hotel near Capital Center. That area was very dirty, crowded and well...felt very unsafe. We immediately checked out and found The Carlton. The reception was fantastic and staff repeatedly greeted us by name and remembered our drink preferences. Tana is an incredibly poor area...riddled with homelessness, beggars and trash :-( But within the walls of The Carlton there is a safe clean friendly haven. Also, the view of the lake and hillside are beautiful. Beds were very comfortable!
Review 7：The breakfast menu should be more varied. We hated the fact that the gym and spa were not functional, during the festive season. This should never happen again. We had to daily be ferried to Hotel Colbert to make use of facilities there.
Review 8：The friendliness of staff, particular the staff at the Pool Area. the food: room menu was exceptional - the hotel has excellent cooks and we were never disappointed with our meals (except breakfast)
Review 9：- restaurant capacity insufficient, considering the number of rooms (I had problem and was obliged to go outside, by taxi, to have my dinner! - staff act like public employee, no decision, no help! - bad localization i.e. you cannot do anything without a taxi
